Ask about parts of lolita pieces you don't know the term for and would like to learn. Ask for the name of certain areas on the clothing, materials, stitching, and so on. Also, feel free to ask about the historical inspiration some pieces take after.
I was browsing through LJ and found this really odd AatP blouse. People were commenting how hideous it looked, but some said it was inspired by Early 17th century clothing. Can anyone elaborate? Is there maybe a name for that collar type?

I suppose it vaguely resembles certain styles of loose ruffs/collars from the 1600-50 period, with the pleating. It's still pretty ugly, though.
Pic related is a portrait with a wide lace collar that might be what that person had in mind.
Gotta get this of my chest first, pic related is shearing, what's on your dress is shirring, s2g I'll slap the next person who pronounces it wrong.
Back on topic what are the Japanese terms for both rhs and 'ladder' lace? Just using english gets pretty shit results when searching.
Is there an actual name for these types of sleeves? IW calls them princess sleeves but I don't think it's the right term. I've seen things in this shape be called bell sleeves and trumpet sleeves but I'm not sure if either of those are the right name for it either.

There isn't one set term for this style of sleeve in lolita, and the name will vary from blouse to blouse. The three names you've listed are the common, correct terms.
>>9575166
Princess sleeves is the most common term

First thing that came to mind when I read this is " we must have a special salt gland somewhere in us"
>>9575253
We're like bull sharks. We can regulate our salt intake needs with a special bladder. That's what the petticoats are hiding.
Why do people argue over AP mini skirts and long JetJ dresses not being lolita?
>>9575155
Ladder lace is just はしごレース.
Is there a name for whatever you'd call JetJ style ruffles? Maybe a name of a technique used to get them?
>>9575387
They're just ruffles. The smaller ones higher up have been gathered in the centre of the strip of fabric rather than at the edge, and the bottom ruffles are two bits of fabric which have both been ruffled.
>>9575166
I've heard the term "angel sleeves" used for those
>>9575166
If you're talking about lolita, princess sleeves is going to be the most popular name for it -- because lolita and princesses. Bell sleeves and trumpet sleeves will frequently bring up normie clothing instead.
>>9575264
Gonna add my question to that one. Where would Atelier Pierrot's corset mini skirts fall into? Pic related.
>>9575387
If you're talking about the area where the main fabric of the dress is folded multiple times, the correct term is "pintuck."
>>9575458
I know anons are going to say it's just gothic but in Asia and Europe it's lolita if you wear it with a blouse etc.
>>9575166
People call them princess sleeves because that's what most brands call that type of sleeve. They're technically asymmetrical bell sleeves but they're based off of 18th century engageantes
Are items like this just called an overdress or is there some special name?

Isn't this a peignoir?
What are the best resources available for getting into ouji/aristocrat? Something like the lolita guidebook on tumblr, but for ouji and aristocrat.
>>9575267
Most lolitas are salty
>>9575765
They aren't more salty then normies

Look at magazines, save coords you like, find a favourite brand and buy clothes from that.
