Seems a new video has surfaced from the mainstream media. They even used our beloved Voldie as the still frame!

This is old news, but
>Vice using Nabokov in the tags

Strong side-eye there

Yeah this is some old shit, OP. Can this just be a general dump of how reporters have covered lolita?

>Half of the articles are about some special snowflakes
Not that I wasn't expecting it.
>>
>>9574016
Let's face it. Most lolitas are boring if you ignore their clothes.

That's not going to get the click-throughs that a brolita or an ageplayer or a hijab is going to get.
>>
>>9573838
I get that lolita doesn't have many great documentaries, but I never liked this one. This always made it seem like lolitas have self confidence issues, hence why we wear frills. The sad ambient music gives off a depressing and weird vibe for all of it.

I do like that they took quite a variety of lolitas, from e-famous, shop owners, brolitas, just your average lolita, etc. This is something someone should do if they ever want to make a documentary.
>>
>>9573846
one of them is actually cute!
>>
>>9574023
They were just trying to be realistic.
>>
>>9574023
I think it feels pretty realistic honestly, most of the lolitas I've met have some form of anxiety/depression/other mental issues. Including myself. It's not a bad thing at all, just reality.
>>
>>9574023
I agree. Most lolitas I know don't have any mental illnesses and painting the entire hobby as being full of mentally ill girls who use lolita to cope instead of therapy is pretty harmful imo. People on the street already assume all sorts of shit about us based off our clothes, no need to make it worse.
>>
>>9574050
I mean I do as well, but I only wear it because I think it's cute.
>>
>>9574010
The main alanta comm girl looks pretty fucking bad. Why those black tights? What that godawful hair colour combination?
>>
>>9574071
>tfw no lolita gf

said no one ever

I love talking to people in my comm cause we have so much in common, but vice would have no clue the weeby shit we'd be talking about.

"Lolitas of Amsterdam" from Refinery29: https://youtu.be/zV3OtzUwcPg

Part of Harajuku segment on Chelsea Handler Show: https://youtu.be/-2GK14newHU
>>
>>9575235
Yep. I mean boring to the public at large. I don't mean to say you or your friends are boring people, just that the average lolita is pretty normal compared to, say, a dude in a dress.

Brolitas always end up in these documentaries, and there's almost always some element of persecution or emasculation that they try to shoehorn in. They're easier to edit into something dramatic, because they stick out of a pack of frilly girls like big, bearded thumbs.
>>
Does anyone have a link to Girly Hoot's documentary? I found the Super Carly parody, but it looks like Kate took hers down.
>>

you are wrong trust me
>tfw no Lolita gf to drive around in my Toyota century
>>
>>9576190
it never got released because she got in a fight with the director. she deleted the trailer.
>>
>>9575258
I like the vid about the Amsterdam comm but some points in it do bother me.
>You can't really do it on your own, you need like minded people that want to create this world together with you
>There's no fun in it to wear it at home with no friends
Comms are fun, meetups are fun, but wearing the style on your own (and yes at home too) is tremendous amount of fun. I think these girls are missing out on a lot of joy that lolita brings as a fashion and solitary indulgence rather than just a social thing.
>>
>>9575258
That store is not in Amsterdam lol. It's in Houten. It's also an old video, it are over 500 in the comm now. The comm is country wide (really small country), most meets are in Amsterdam or Utrecht.

>>9579766
I'm not sure if it's editing that makes it sound bad or bad wording, but this is my local com. Also, the designer (Linda Friezen) is not in the comm itself, she's an houte couture designer who loves lolita and makes some items. Generally, being a lone lolita is no problem at all, and not considered bad or anything.
>>
>>9574010
>when the reporter for the Atlanta comm ended up looking better than everyone else lel
>>
>>9574010
I'm surprised Andrea isn't in the ATL vid. She always wants attention.
>>
>>9579883
Oh I didn't think they thought being a lone lolita was bad, but it (whether their wording or the editing) gives a bit of a bad impression, as if you can't wear lolita on your own.
