In light of >>9549318 I'm wondering what are some really good or interesting panels out there.
The more I go to cons the more I see the same panel subjects repeated over and over again. What are the fresh ideas or panel types that have managed to stand out.

Nothing
I love spooky story panels, as long as it's not the same old repeated stuff. Last creepypasta panel I went to consisted of Shrek memes and Yugioh Abridged references.
Also panels consisting of actual discussion. I went to a Fatal Frame panel (a fave game of mine) and actually learned stuff about the game I didn't know, and was introduced to a youtuber who translates Japanese horror games.
No matter what the subject is, as long as the panelists aren't spazzing around, it's usually good enough for me. That's pretty hard to come across in AZ sadly.

I used to love the rare panels about current events or political issues, but the rise of SJWs has made them a dangerous minefield these days.
Kinda wanna make a panel about the good and bad parts of Western localization. (Mostly bad) Probably going over some of the silly stuff that got marketed to us like the rubber knife, Zabuza's ninja sword can't be beat, jelly filled donuts, etc. Also going behind the history of those decisions, licensing etc. Thoughts?
Some cons have education-based panels run by actual professionals that count for professional development hours for teachers. Thise tend to be really good. A standout was a panel from PHXCC a couple years back where a Cartoon Network guy talked to us about the collection, calculation and use of statistics of viewership and demographics and how it affects their decision making.

Good panels are super rare.
Plus its way easier to shit on things

That sounds cool. Which cons do that?
I've found that as I've grown up, I've lost interest in most con panels; I used to go to/be in in-character ask panels but now I can't sit through one
I think my personal favorite panel was a presentation of cosplay photography with tips for amateurs about getting shots, using lights, framing out crowds, etc. But of course that was aimed at a very specific target group, and wasn't very full.
I also helped run a silly haunted-house type thing (it wasn't a panel, it was a room walk through with scares that had small prizes at the end) and it was fun af and very well received.

The only three I know for a fact are Phoenix Comicon, Denver Comicon and one up in Charlotte.
I find that even the most interesting panels often get fucked up by people during the Q&A section, so I prefer to avoid panels that have audience participation time slotted in. It feels like it would go so much more smoothly if audience interaction meant screening the "questions" before letting people get onto a soap box, because it just fucks everything up.

>trigger panel at Anime Midwest
>first guy gets up to ask question
>it's not even a question
>just rambles on for nearly 3-4 minutes by himself
>someone in the crowd finally tells him to get his fucking question out or sit down
>doesn't actually have a question, just wanted to give some drawing he did to the panel guests
>next person asks about the Anno/Gainax lawsuit

lol yep, exactly the sort of shit I meant.
There's always at least one asshole who wants to talk about themselves, and someone else who doesn't understand the idea of tact. Every damn time.
>Instead of in-character Q&A panels, what panels with the same interactive spirit would you rather see/attend?
>What kinds of panels for a series are the best for getting fans together?
Best panel I've ever been to was at PAX South. They have this panel/event where they have 4 very drunk comedians play the WORST iPhone App Store games and roast them. But the second the joke starts to die, they move on to the next one, so it never gets boring.

At a fucking anime con?
I keep meaning to do the Hentai Art Appreciation panel some fella on here suggested years ago but I never find people willing to do it with me.
I had an idea about a con recently, it would be about you and the principles of enjoying it without being a fujoshit.

Last year j went to LBCC and they had a panel about the psychological shit about Harley Quinn where they had an actual psychologist

Oh hey I was the dumbass autist who asked the Gainax question. In hindsight, it was really dumb of me desu. When I went up to get an art book though, I apologized and they said it was fine, they thought it was funny. I still feel bad though.
Fuck me I forgot to go this year (or even look for it) but AX last year had a "Naughty Figures Panel" shit was great, Mamitan hosted it and she told us stories about the nicest, ugliest and weirdest figures
She talked about the companies that make hentai figures, how some are more infamous than others, and that some people customize regular figures and turn them into naughty ones
I love figures and the such but never really looked into naughty ones, went to the panel just to see some bad lewd figures but ended up learning a lot and having a great time

At krakencon there was a panel dedicated to how to get good shots using cell phone cameras and he broke down how lighting works along with some general posing tips

That panel was hilarious again this year. I highly recommend going if you can get in (assuming they have another next year). Although the crowd is pretty creepy. If you're a girl, get out as quickly as you can after the panel ends, because you're surrounded by a bunch of neckbeards who've basically looked at porn for an hour.
Typically if a panel is made that serves the community over the presenter's ego, it will do well
