Dealers hall is okay mostly good all in all but very much the same 6 stores on repeat with added funko pops. Only a few interesting or stand outs. Wish there was a manga stall but I just went into town today to buy what I wanted.

The hentai cringe panel is back acclaimedly by popular demand which is weird considering I went to it last year and it was a disaster and they fucked up the PowerPoint for the projector so he walked around each person individually showing off each slide. It was pretty bad. But so far overall everything seems to be an improvement on the last few sunnycon.

Sunnycon skit contest/talent show wasn't as bad as it was in some previous years, autist solving the puzzles was a laugh... I don't know if we were supposed to be laughing but, err. YEAH.
I thought the judging was shit though, the mimed comedy thing that WON was absolute shit, I will say something positive though. There were a couple of entries that were actually really fucking good, girl who sang an Idolmaster song did a solid job, girl who sang the Steven Universe song (even if SU is cancer) was a great singer too. Few of the dance entries were great too. One or two done deaf tryhards but, points for giving it a go I suppose.
There needs to be rehearsals or soundchecks or something like that to really make the contest less of a shitshow I think. Kitacon does something along those lines.
Sunnycon still has a lot of growing to do all in all but it was decent overall this year.

Yeah they should have done sound checks, some things were too quiet to hear and others near deafening, same for the Meidos. The content was decent for a con skit show and even the girl who dropped her stones and bailed did it earnestly instead of just standing there silent until the track ended like I've seen some do. ayup brit/gulls/. In the process of planning out a Beauvoir (NieR automata) costume for MCM October and Youmacon. I'm thinking of making it out of EVA foam and sealing it with plastidip, but the only retailers I found that sell it are pretty expensive. I'm gonna be needing ~20 - 30 cans, which is gonna cost me £250 if I buy it from said retailers. Is there a decent cheaper UK alternative to Plastidip you can recommend for me?

To be honest I wouldn't say it's always friendship judging. There's always lots of entries for everything, WCS, ECG, EC the lot, but so many underestimate the level of work it is to roll hem rather than serge, embroider and bead rather than iron on, line rather than hem, and that's just dressmaking. Also building a skit, building a backdrop, getting enough practice in, keeping pace with your partner. The expense of it all because it's so much more than 'make a costume in a week and wear exhausted to con'. That the drop out rate is usually like 70%.

So you end up with a handful of entries of people that are better prepared more than best representation of potential cosplays.

You're more likely to win if you enter.

You don't even get to say you lost if you don't enter.

The War Hammer Tzench costume which Clockwork Dandy Noodles used in the qualifier was one of those costumes which looked good from a distance but had some problems up close.

Her ECG final costume was/is a much stronger costume all round and she brought one of the better solo stage acts.
