Recently, there's been big street parties in Shibuya. Groups gather in matching costumes and it's pretty fucking cute. A few sites have done reviews or features on the party for the last couple of years. A friend of mine who lives in Tokyo went with coworkers last year.

I know fandom coords aren't generally liked., but I find halloween an allowance to allow me to do a bit of that, so mine is a Ravenclaw/Luna Lovegood inspired look. Thinking of a mini witches hat for head wear

I think the neck area looks a bit too busy with the neckbow, tie and necklace all together. Can you remove the bow? If not, ditch the tie (you have the pin anyway) or use it as a hatband on your witch hat?

Sorry you don't know how to do in store orders and not actually be there. In store orders get priority if you can pick them up. Contact a shopping service in Japan to get your orders placed so you can get what you want. Always save at least 1000 dollars to get what you want. Take all year if you have to to save. Or get a better job.

I know that one of the first things that people learn when starting out in lolita is never to do cosplay lolita. That being said, I do want to make my Halloween coord based off of a character. Would it be okay if I said it was a "x character-inspired coord"? Without giving out their name, I wanted to tweak a lot of the character's designs so it would translate well into, and still be recognized as, lolita.

Depends on how well you can translate it with Lolita. Make it too costumy and people will say cosplay is not Lolita. But make it too Lolita and you won't be able to see the cheracter you are trying to make. You need to have a equal medium to understand what's going on.

I simply didn't care for halloween prints or BTSSB/AATP at all before I even saw the print. I can't save for a print I don't even know I'll want. Tenshi would've even reserved a dress for me, but I couldn't even decide on a cut, because they both didn't appeal to me at first.

I think that particular BL skirt is a knockoff of Atelier Pierrot so that's a place to start, although tbf AtP often uses shiny fabrics as well.

Has AatP quality gone downhill? I wasn't interested in that particular release but I have several other 2016 & 2017 AatP pieces and agree that quality-wise, they were very disappointing. I buy most of my lolita to be regular wear but these dresses have been relegated to the "special events only" part of my wardrobe because I'm sure they wouldn't survive regular wear for very long. It feels really shitty because I paid more for these dresses than for most of my stuff from IW and IW but those brands are infinitely more durable.

Their quality has never been that great to begin with. They have had a lot of issues over the years with boning breaking through fabric (anything with corset shaping, basically), zippers breaking (the first run of Vampire Requiem was really bad on that front, I know three people whose dresses' zippers broke within two wears, and two of them are teenietiny people), and fabric prints running if exposed to the least moisture.

The last one I have experience with. I packed a bag for a trip and didn't think to put something in between my dresses because it was a short flight, and I knew I'd be unpacking immediately. I still had red crocking from the AatP dress I brought on a white blouse that had been near it in the luggage. Fortunately, it was near the blouse's waist and not visible under the JSK I brought to wear it with.

That dress now gets stored in a cotton cloth cover so it doesn't transfer onto anything else.

If you want more then one or one of every cut saving a grand for it all isn't that big of an amount. The dresses them selves usually cost 320-380 a piece and the skirts are usually 200 alone plus your costs for shipping and shopping services if you do the in shop order. Don't know what makes you think this is a outrageous amount of money to save for Lolita. You either are not in the fashion or haven't bought things new and in multiples.

I liked mine a lot. I like that it's the same fabric as vampire requiem and Castle of nightmare and like the fit of the jsks. Although I do wish I got the one with the front panel in red instead of grey. Probably just personal preference but I think it's a really nice release. Didn't care for the quality of some of the other AatP dresses. They use that cheap think chiffon like material that just looks horrible.

I have never had a problem with running with their stuff honestly. I know that their red colors tend to be really bad so I stay away from it since I don't like to deal with the running. But many brands have issues with reds running. Maybe I have just gotten lucky but my closet is mostly AatP things and have yet to be disappointed. I do read the fabric it's made of before I buy though and factor it's care before I make a purchase or preorder.

This should be the opposite of a problem but I have no idea what to wear for Halloween.

If your end design becomes too cosplay-ish, then just call it cosplay and do not include the word Lolita. Hang out with cosplayers while you're wearing it. The issue is trying to pass it off Lolita when it is too much into the cosplay zone.

I really want to do an OTT aristocratic vampire coord with an Atelier Pierrot corset dress but I'm trying to hold out until Dream Masquerade Carnival so I can see more of their stuff in person (they're remote vending). I already have appropriate accessories and make-up and Scarecrow fangs I bought last year and never got to wear. A little hesitant though since it'd be my first time wearing circle lenses and I still haven't decided on a wig.

I know the comm I'll be in over Halloween is a small one so I'm trying to keep my coord as something that'll come off to normies as a high-effort high-quality scary costume end of things rather than going for a cutesy Halloween print.

I went as a witch two years in a row before that so I'm really bored of it (plus my dream witch hat got discontinued), so if I can't go as a vampire I'd like to go in shiro and be a ghost. I find it really hard to pick a wig colour for ghost coords though as I feel white looks costumey but warm blonde looks wrong.

I don't think you really get why I said a grand. I said it for IF you want one of each cut. Many people do want more then one when they really like it. Also they may want the whole set like hair accessory, jewlwery and blouse that can be released with it. If you want a jsk it will be roughly 350 dollars. Hair accessory roughly 120. Blouse roughly 150. Jewelry roughly 100. That's 720 dollars just for all the things with the set. Let's say just the jsk and hair accessory. 470 is how much that will cost. Factor in shipping as well and your pushing 550. Either way you spin it you will need to save more then 300 dollars just to get the release of any thing. Some people like the Halloween releases so they save for that like I do. Some like the Christmas or Valentine's release and save for that. It's about preference anon. It's really not as bad as your spinning it when you break down the items. If you want it cheaper, wait for the second hand sales to show up a month after its release of you don't find it reasonable.

It's unnecessarily braggy when you could just have told anon to try an in-store SS next time. Sometimes people miss out on releases, it happens, sucks to be them. If you then come in with "well I have what you wanted x10 get a better job teehee", no shit they won't respond well.

Sorry for the rant but that post reminded me so much of a girl in a neighbouring comm who gets all her brand bought for her by her boyfriend, has zero social skills, and every other word out of her mouth is a brag or direct insinuation that the people around her are jealous peasants who just aren't ~trying~ (to find a sugar daddy?) hard enough. The concept that even people with good jobs might not want to spend every single cent on lolita simply doesn't exist in her mind.

I'm aware my post before was badly worded and relatively braggy. I was going to bed after a bad and long day at work. It happens. But the argument is still the same that you need to have a substantial amount of money on standby for a release. It's better to have more then what you need then barely enough to get it. Then if you find you want the one item in two colors at the check out, you can just get both. Don't like them when you get them, then sell them. Some people like to have more options then one (like me) so get one of each to have diffrent items to play with. I originally wanted just the first cut of the jsk, but found i enjoy the second cut of the jsk more once I got it. This is why i saved 1000 dollars to get one of each and the accessories (which the cat ears are just not as nice as I thought they would be).

Also your annoying friend with the sugar daddy will get karma hitting her ass one day. just takes patience.

The thing with lolita is that you are not dressing up as a character but dressing up how you want as yourself. I like halloween themed coords, and I don't mind if you add things to your coord to show your appreciation for x series/fandom. But I hate it if you are kind of trying to be x character but fail because you had to make it more lolita. It's never lolita if you are trying to be a character.
