This has literally always been a thing, since the early days of Lolita. There was a community in the early days of live journal just for bragging about how unladylike you are while wearing lolita.

Most of the <20s in my comm are like this. I've only encountered a "luvly" once and she was pretentious but otherwise pleasant to be around. The girls who go out of their way to prove how totally edgy and non-luvly and "lolita is just clothes rrraaaa" they are, are way more annoying. Most of them don't even wear lolita outside of meet ups. They just put on pretty princess dresses and attend high tea to hump lamp posts, swear at onlookers and yell about memes apparently. I really hope they grow out of it soon. Lolitas don't have to be lovely but for fuck's sake at least act like normal human beings when we're out in public.

My comm had a brief period of time where they only wanted to do gangsta poses or slav squats. I'm not anti-fun but it was annoying to have to shame them into taking one decent, normally posed photo.

My roommate's girlfriend is lolita, so when I met her I got kind of excited and talked to her about it and showed her some things I'm working on. Forgot to mention that half of them are super vocal about posting on cgl and I'm sure they're all shitposters. The other half are vehemently anti-4chan because it's full of evil bullies but still use 4chan slang and memes constantly. There's practically no difference in attitude between the two sides. We watch it but it's not relevant for us either, thank goodness. I think the same, maybe half the people posting here about Lolita actually wear it. And I hate that because I don't really like most of the Facebook lolita groups. Is EGL completely dead except for wardrobe posts? I wish there was something more like Daily Lolita these days. Not as an outdated LJ group from the good old days but something similar in flavor. I don't feel like posting a daily coord on CoF is that relevant, I am not that fancy in my everyday lolita clothes.

Hate to break it to you, but there's always been snowflakes. It's currently in the form of tumblrette hipster "this is me being a feminist" or "Hey, I'm genderqueer respect my pronouns." It used to be that emos and goth kids would be terrible itas and they'd try to make bittersweet all edgy and a thing. There will be a new snowflake type in another generation. Just wait.

People with that attitude really annoy me. I've been in my comm for almost a decade and we have NEVER been "lovelies" or enforced any kind of behavior other than basic human decency. But still you get these girls who think they're so special because they like to get drunk and swear and smoke and feel oppressed when people ask them to tone it down a bit. A few weeks ago I was at a meetup where two girls kept smoking right in the middle of the group and would get pissy when asked to at least stand downwind of the rest of us. "We shouldn't have to change who we are just because we're wearing lolita! We're all human here!" Okay, but can you go be human over there so the rest of us don't have to choke on your cigarette smoke...? Nobody asked them to be Disney princesses, just to display some basic human decency. It would be the exact same thing if we were all wearing jeans.
I've never personally met anyone who believed that lolitas should behave a certain way and I'm starting to think that the "lovely" is just a made-up boogeyman these girls use to justify their own trashy behavior. It can't be that the majority of people think they're in the wrong, no, it's only those crazy lovelies!
