It's really too late to cosplay now that there's less than a week left until AniNorth unless you're good with sewing and DIY. Getting your costume from Aliexpress/Taobao, Ebay, Amazon, etc is a bit too late if not risky. And there's no point getting dissapointed if the shipping cost is too high or if you fucked up on something by the time it arrives (size issue, quality issue, etc etc). I prefer you get your shit ready for next year instead, that's a better choice.

Actually, there was this one guy who dressed up as Fubuki from Kancolle last year but it was really shit. Regardless, he had a lot of photos taken and people had fun at the end of the day at the photoshoot. It's really up to you.

Don't do it, that area was pretty heavily monitored when people were there trying to shoot last year. Especially at night, some security guard was parked hidden in the back and drove around doing rounds and kicking people out. Please help guys. I'm super nervous about this con stuff, I've only been to AN once like 3 years ago, never cosplayed but would like to get into it. I figured I'd just go as Kaneki because ez mode and I have white hair, but I bought a wig anyways and a couple of my cosplayer friends have said that it'll look weird without the wig, but I have no idea how to style it and wigs are super itchy on me and make me uncomfortable. Like others have stated, I'll also be going solo at the convention since the stuff I'm interested in may not reflect what others enjoy. I have my own routes, and others have their own. Every second or minute counts for the next 3 days at the con (i.e. not missing crucial panels and signature events, etc etc). You should have no problem using a Visa card in Canada. Canada really only accepts Visa or Mastercard and very rarely American Express.
You will want to exchange the cash. Some business will charge you an extra percentage on top of your purchase for using American dollars (most common is 2-3%, highest I've seen was 25%). If a firearm prop is not 1:1 scale (off-spec) then it's also fine even if its completely black or without orange tip. As long as it's somewhere between 80% plastic then it's fine as well (assuming 1:1 scale with orange tip). Furthermore, if it's a training weapon (rubber kind used in martial arts or simulations), then it should also be fine.

At the end of the day, it must be holstered or slinged when you're inside the building complex. Outside you can do whatever you want at your own risk.
