Do you or your friend have any extras of the solo Akira merch? Because hot damn I want it.

Also I know your bag is ryokira, but there's a good amount of bag-able stuff for devilman himself. I found this stire recently and you should be able to use and ss with them. http://metalbox.shop-pro.jp/?mode=cate&cbid=1277366&csid=8&sort=n

I have this bag! It's all black so I hope my photo isn't too potato, but basically it has a black cloth layer between the plastic and the 'back' of the compartment.

It also came with a white foam backing which I keep in to help keep things in place. The see through compartment is separate from the main bag.
>>
I can't seem to find those star cutout bags anywhere. They were listed on amiami, but they don't have them anymore.
>>
>>9463862
Thanks anon! That looks perfect - I was worried it was one of those window bags without a separate compartment. Where is it from, if you don't mind me asking? I was hoping it came in lilac.

Everyone in that discussion was being mature about the topic and giving their opinions sensibly. Then there's this butthurt little bitch. Can we include the ITABAG PIN BAG image in the FAQ at all?
>>
>>9464073
She was so fucking rude to the mod, you can tell from her typing style she's from tumblr. The mods updated the guide I think btw, there should be a comparison there.
>>
>>9464073
Why is she desperately clinging onto a label? So her bag isn't an itabag, so what? Does that mean she's required to not love it anymore and throw it away? If we go back to the comparison to lolita - If your outfit isn't lolita it doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad outfit, just that it's not this specific thing that you claim it is.
Why are people making such a big deal about this?
>>
>>9464079
Because to them itabagging is the hot new trend and they want in on it by any means necessary. Being told they're not actually making an itabag takes away their ego to show off how cool and trendy they are.
>>
>I added lights to my bag. It doesn't have the cover on it since it's broken and I need a replacement but don't have anything to measure it atm... haha... I have three plushies and a pass case on this bad boy too @w@;;; think I need to stop!
>>
>>9464085
You know if they took the lights off and got a new base they could have an awesome bag
>>
>>9464075
If you go into their profile, you can see the "he/him pronouns pls". 100% tumblr fakeboi, as expected

On another note, I keep seeing so many people push the "itabag has to be super expensive" deal which I feel isn't really necessary. I mean yes, when you collect rare/sought-after merch and grail items things do get real expensive, as well as when we have to use an SS. But it's not really a requirement for an itabag imo and even the dumbasses who aren't getting the point of an itabag keep dwelling on how much money they spent on their random pin bags to justify them being an "itabag". There's been plenty of examples in these threads of bags with little merch but beautiful decoration to make up for it or cases when your husbando isn't a fan-favorite and you score a bunch of their items for dirt cheap (ex: with 35$ I got enough merch for one of my next bags and a cheap aliexpress bag to alter and use. Would hardly call it expensive, most of the merch was priced 100¥-200¥).
Just my 2cents considering I'm seeing plenty of people on the fb group on each side of the debate using the money issue. Just focus on your painful obcession with your husbandos/waifus, don't buy bootlegs and try to support the creators as possible.

>>
>>9464085
What are the lights even supposed to be? I see a few hearts, but the one on the bottom looks like an egg, and the rest look like clothespins.
>>
THIS is how you do filler for spots in your bag if your character has limited merch.

Not 15 'I heart ______' buttons, especially if the character has plenty of official stuff.
>>
>>9464119
I think they're all supposed to be hearts but it's the shittiest application of lights I've seen since MLP-girl ageplay girl. Why would you even use giant clothspins to keep light wires in place? It doesn't work that way.

They're suppose to be light up photo clips hence the clothespins. It would've been a cute idea to use if they executed it correctly, but this just looks like they're trying to jump onto the fairy lights trend and used the first thing they saw.

>>9464094
I agree with you 100% on the money thing. I think it's more fitting to say that some serious EFFORT should be put into your bag, with hunting down and spending a lot being included under that umbrella. DIY bags whose materials might not be very expensive? The effort comes from all the time you spent making those things. Basically, itabagging isn't supposed to be an easy-and-done thing in my opinion. AS long as there's some effort, the amount of money spent doesn't matter.

Christ. I wish I hadn't posted the damned thing now if I knew it'd start this big of a shitstorm. I just thought it was genuinely interesting and figured a few people would like to know that there were other options with more creative freedom than having to try and defend their non-itabag as one.
>>
>>9464287
>let people ENJOY!!
Good fucking god nobody told these people to stop what they're doing, they were just told their bags are not itabags, what's the problem? Why is it so hard to understand that some terms refer to something specific and you can't make X mean whatever you want?
I'm honestly not surprised that lolita was brought up in this discussion but the comparison isn't doing what people wanted it to; lolita has the exact same kind of whiners who insist their shitty cosplay is totally fashion and bitch and whine about elitists when told otherwise.
This is why we can't have nice things.

I kind of wanted to host an acen meetup, but probably wont now since it'll likely be only be 2 actual ita bags and then a bunch of pin bags.
>>
>>9464332
The golden age is gone but you should still go for it. Your meetup will be full of trash, but it won't be your fault. It's still a good way to meet people. Most con meetups are full of trash anyway. That's sort of a given for cons.

If acen is a big enough con (which it is from what I've heard) someone will probably host one anyway. In that case I'd go to the meet and try to befriend people with actual bags.
>>
Are people being kicked from the FB or leaving willingly? I noticed a few who were talking out against shitty bags are no longer part of the group.
>>
You can tell someone is from tumblr when they use discourse instead of drama
>>
I will say I was talking about all this yesterday with my friend who is fluent in Japanese and who has friends in Japan (like actual Japanese not foreigners living there) and she said that linguistically there are no other terms for things like pin and button bags and they'd all just be called itabags. I'm not saying it's wrong for us to have a stricter definition over here since we do have other terms but I thought it was something interesting to think about.

That kinda makes sense, because it seems to me like they didn't have anything like con button bags before itabags became a thing, so there's nothing else related they could judge of off.

Posting some content to keep this from getting too distracted. I like how they used the heart buttons.

>>
>>9464306
Even better if someone does it and the plushie and purse match and they go "It's an itabag because I got it to match my plushie!"

> butcher it
> get butthurt when called out
> refuse to accept they've made a bag from another fashion trend because it's not Japanese sounding
> カンバッグ

Took some pics of the bag off rakuten for those interested. I took some hanging and some standing pictures. The filled ones on the right side have a couple books and a pencil case in them.
It's not so bad, really, but you can see that it wrinkles quite easily especially between badges and that annoys the shit outta me.

Update on progress! I actually want a collection of these now they're so cool!
>>
>>9464073
The thing that gets me about this person is I've met them at a con (they came to a panel I was in), and at that time they actually had a real itabag. Isn't this the kid that had the Hetalia Norway bag? I can't wrap my head around how badly they're missing the point when they have a fucking correct example in their possession.

This has been irrationally bugging me, ugh.
>>
Question because I'll be modding one of WEGO's heart backpacks: what is the best adhesive for adding rhinestones and other notions? I've tried hot glue on a knockoff bag but that eventually peeled off and since I want the rhinestones to be in a specific pattern, it would be nice if they didn't fall off.

Jesus fucking christ

>"Who cares that much and why should it matter?"
>"it's not a big deal lmao" "they're just bags, don't take it too seriously lol"
>"It's difficult to feel you belong alongside those who are "hardcore" and inflict that mindset on all others around them."

Isn't this is a hobby centered around extremism? If it was "no big deal lmao" why would people dedicate so much money and time to it? Why would someone pay $200 plus shipping for an exclusive fucking keychain if it wasn't a big deal?
Even with minimal bags why would you go through the trouble of organizing, finding a base bag, sewing rossettes, collecting merch, putting in lights, flowers, etc,. If it wasn't a big deal?
I mean if you don't take it seriously then why join a group dedicated to that shit

Aside from nearly cutting off Kotetsu's hair on the right side (you can see the tape holding it in place) it was surprisingly easy to do and clear files are incredibly cheap to begin with so finding them secondhand is a bargain. Even Taobao stocks them now if you want to check there.

Does anyone happen to own one of Wego's smaller heart bags? I've been debating on getting one but the glitter in the window is kind of off-putting in the pictures, and I was wondering if it looked better in person.
>>
>>9464309
We could just drop a link in there? All of the join requests are monitored now and there's like 2 admins and 2 mods at the moment.
>>
>>9464958
I thought we were setting it to fight club style

>first rule of fight club is you don't talk about fight club
>>
>>9464958
I wish there were a way to get those people to join ours, but even with the admins and mods filtering, there will be another shitstorm surrounding us having a second group. I really do want those with standards though in ours. I don't want to miss the good bags they make.
>>
>>9464962
We'll never grow if it's like that. It's nice to have a niche community who chats to each other a lot, but isn't that what the discord is for?

>>9464969
What does it actually matter if there's a shitstorm? It's not like they can rant in our group since they'll be kicked out instantly.
And that's if they even get accepted.
>>
>>9464969
Another way you can do this is to just add those people as your friend.

And then you can either invite them and maybe we can sort out a system where if you're invited by a member who is respected or whatever, then they'll be accepted.

OR, you can just wait and eventually that person will see that group in their suggested groups and hopefully join themselves.
>>
>>9464975
I don't see the harm in it. There's a measure in place to weed out the noobs and I'm sure non-gulls in there are fed up as well and would like somewhere else to go.
>>
>>9464918
i've been in this thread since before the fb group so i'd like to think i'm still here because i actually like talking about itabags. but y'all make it really hard sometimes
>>
>>9464975
>What does it actually matter if there's a shitstorm?
Because a shitstorm can deter good itabbagers from joining. They could get the impression our group is full of vindictive bitches rather than itabaggers with standards. It isn't the idiots I'm worried about.
>>
>>9464982
I'm sure any itabagger with a brain can tell that it's just a group where you can't post con bags and empty WIPs, even if some of the idiots kick off and start to whine.
>>
>>9464934

These look awesome! Thanks for the update.
>>
>>9464986

>>9464975
Instead of posting in the itabag group, why not post in the itabag buy/sell group? I know a lot of people are in that group not even for itabags, they just want merch.
>>
>>9464982
I'm understanding the argument here and it's just the slander that can turn people away, especially since only a select few (compared to how many are talking about it) actually seem to know how things went down. No one was initially rude except for the person with all the enamel pins.

I'd like to meet more itabaggers and share more ideas about arrangements etc. Just hearing that this hobby is full of bitches isn't exactly encouraging.
>>
>>9464957
defenitly looks better in person. The photos make it look cheap but its not as obscuring/bad as i thought it would be
>>
>>9464993
Like every hobby, it depends on your specific community. I'm not part of the FB group but I have my own little circle of itabag friends and everything's cool here.

It's like saying all cosplayers are bitches or all lolitas are bitches. It just depends on who you hang around.
>>
>>9464993
This is what I was getting it. Thank you for clarifying, anon!
>>
>>9464980
Yeah, I'm with you here. This thread and the last one have been shit on by this Facebook drama. Keep it on Facebook. Let's actually get back to talking bags here. I don't mind laughing at ita itabags, but it's past that point now.

>>
>>9464564
hey thanks for these, anon!! i think the bag looks pretty great and not as floppy as i was thinking it would be after the other anon's comment. most of my merch is buttons anyway, so i'm not hanging anything heavy on the bag, but i think i might go the plastic folder route just to stiffen up the side so nothing folds in on itself when i set the bag down.

hockey itabagger from a number of threads ago....wanted to come say thanks for the encouragement and ideas! i've got a lot of merch (not all pictured here...i got 10 packs of the tiny buttons plus some other larger buttons) acquired and feel ready to order my base bag. i'm making some rosettes for a couple of the buttons and might add some more stuff once i get my bag and see how everything lays out.

quick question: i've seen dupe rubber strap daisy chains, but have any of you seen it done with buttons? (ie, do a string of buttons on a ribbon or something)
>>

I feel like I've seen this done before, but I can't remember where. Regardless, I think it'd be easy to pull off.
Also I'm pretty sure my mom would want like a sports ita-pouch for her team if she learned about this. She probably wouldn't go for a bag since she already has a pretty nice one with their logo for it.

So glad any further discussion of "what is an itabag" will be deleted.

Has anybody thought to use modified lolita necklaces as chains? I'm talking maybe cheaper taobao necklaces.

I feel like it could work out quite cute.
>>
>>9465274
Oh wow, I'm wondering if we have the same character...

One of my most populated bags is Ranpo Edogawa from Bungou Stray Dogs and his merch is this weird mix of orange and brown - I ended up using black for him because I can't stand orange.
>>
>>9465309
AH close!
I'm working on an Ango Sakaguchi bag.
I'm using a black bag and I'm planning on trying to soften the colours out somehow with a different backing so it's not a huge contrast, but I'm starting to feel I might as well just accept the black x orange look.
>>
>>9465316
Oh awesome! I get so excited when I see someone else working on a BSD bag! I've seen a tonne for Chuuya and Dazai, but very little for the others. Looking through their merch in general, the colour combinations are pretty harsh overall ^^;
>>
>>9465316
MY GIRL!! I'm considering actually going to the itabag meet at my upcoming con because it seems like this hobby attracts so many BSD fans. I'm almost certain that the actual BSD meet is going to devolve into whatever cringey hell you'd expect from a series with mostly male characters and female fans.

Agreed. I feel like Atsushi would be the most versatile with colours, because most of his merch will go with nearly any colour bag. Aside from him, most of the other characters have warm dark colour schemes (aside from some of Kunikida's stuff, Kenji's stuff and Francis' stuff).

But then again, I wear sweet lolita so I'm weak for pastels. Harsh colours are just such a problem to work with for me.

>>9465329
It's so great to know others are enthusiastic about the series and itabagging. I mean, they do pump out a hell of a lot of BSD merch... Just a shame a lot of it can be difficult to work with because of inconsistencies in colour schemes. I get Dazai's scheme is mostly dark blue/navy, but I've seen a lot of Dazai merch with brown colour scheming. Mostly older stuff, but eh.
What con are you going to, anon?

I'm having the same issue with Chuuya, the merch is red or purple and I'm dying. I was actually about to post in the discord or the new fb group if I should just use a black bag but I'm kind of shy and he's mafia so the primary color in his outfit is black, so I'm worried about the keychains just disappearing.

What I wouldn't give to be into Atsushi instead desu, literally every keychain he gets is cute (also his merch is cheap, but I'm into possibly the most or second-most expensive character in the series, everything is cheap). The artists that can draw Chuuya fucking kill it but he's prickly so people apparently don't know how to make him small??? >>9465344 is a solid example, like everyone else is cute but they did something horrible to his face and made his eyes 50% bigger than everyone else's. How long does Surugaya usually take to process orders once they've been received? I placed my first 2 orders with them a few days ago, each about ¥7800, and so far I've only gotten the email telling me that they'd inspect the items before finalising. No figures or plushies or anything, just various straps and badges.

I'm using Tenso and paid with Paypal, if it makes a difference.
>>
>>9466093
they're notoriously slow, give them up to a week depending on the size of the order (quantity).

>>9466093
They've always taken around a week for me. Once they took longer but that was when paid with paypal instead of my credit card and they eventually replied saying my payment wouldn't process (which was bs since my paypal showed the charge as pending waiting for them to grab it) and they told me the only other payment method they'd accept them was bank transfer from a Japanese bank. So now I only use credit cards to pay since they can't be xenophobic dickwads and claim a credit card payment failed.

Also, a reminder to everyone here that the original group on FB was made by gulls to begin with. Making a new group will eventually just have it turn into how the old group is. That's what happens when a hobby becomes more popular and more people join. Seeing you guys have a conniption fit over that the last couple days has been hilarious.
>>
>>9466339
Have you been reading these replies at all? Stop embarrassing yourself
>>
>>9466343
I don't really think I'm embarrassing myself, but ok. If you're trying to upset me or hurt my feelings, I'm afraid you're not doing a very good job.
>>
>>9466339
It was literally one anon that said that, you're making a huge fuss out of nothing
No seagull is out to get you (except for maybe that one lmao) Any gulls that bothered to read the replies you made here >>9464073 know that you didn't say that and you obviously know how to itabag.

Yeah the salt went on for too long but now it's over with, they cleared up the FAQ, people left the group, made a new one with a questionnaire and stricter rules so they can see what they wanna see. It's done with.
>>
>>9465287
I haven't, but sounds like a great idea! Gives the bag some extra flair, without taking away from the merch.

>>9465677
I love this so much anon! Everything looks so good together.

>>9466093
I've waited up to 10 business days.

>>9466339
I don't see an issue with us having standards? You even said it yourself, it was started by gulls, of course we don't come for pinbags in an itabag group. Regardless we have our own place now and kick out the confused who can't even figure out what an itabag is.
>>
>tfw actually considering that bag in a bag thing from the last thread because the bag I used as a base is perfect but offers no protection

How acceptable is it to just throw a clear bag over my bag? Maybe I'll buy a purse raincoat and tie the ends off.
>>
>>9466222
i've used paypal for tons of orders without any issues. foreign credit cards don't always work with their system, so i'd recommend avoiding it if you can.
>>
Do sales/purchases also occur in these threads? I have not lurked enough.
>>
>>9466396
No, not too often.
>>
>>9466396

Does anyone have any experience with these phone cases? I'm going to order one with my next paycheck but would love reviews/opinions/inspo
>>
>>9466548
I have that case! I personally really like it, it's good for if you don't have a ton of merch. I personally bought a clear phone case to attach to the sticky part, so I can just clip my phone in without worrying about damaging the adhesive every time I want to take it out, and that works really nicely.
>>
>>9466387
Really? That's interesting. I've used my card for well over 30 purchases with no problem (well desu I normally have adult materials aka doujin in my order so I have to) but the one time I used my paypal they pulled the whole 'oh it didn't process' card.

I've been working on a bag for Saiou from Yugioh GX but since he has 0 merch I've been hand making everything or commissioning people to do art for the badges. I'm hoping to get some acrylic keychains made for it and I'm using a laser cutter some point next week so I plan to get some small things cut out while I'm using it. Does anyone have any other suggestions for other handmade merch I could add? I have cards and stickers related to him but they just looked a little messy whenever I tried to incorporate them.
>>
>>9466627
I was planning on doing this in the future but haven't tried yet, but I had some stickers I was going to dome with jeweler's resin to make pins. Your stickers might be easier to work with after that. Cute bag so far!
>>
How is buyee as a service? I'm planning on buying 7500 yen of stuff from Amazon JP.

whats the drama, who would've deleted it?
>>
>>9467112
drama tl;dr

>harmless posts from gulls in FB group
>posts are about people claiming non-itabags as itabags
>FB group loses their mind
>things get heated
>gulls flee to a new group with moderation
>mods and old group members just now finding out
>WWIII begins

At this point the only ones who would delete it would be admin/mods from the old group.

>>
>>9467467
I cut a piece or cardboard in the shape of the heart, and put fabric over it. Some people also pin the pocket fabric to the area above the heart inside.
>>
I lurk on 4chan, but as far as ita bags go, I've mainly been in the fb pages until yesterday. Can someone give me a tl;dr of what the sides are in the drama?
>>
>>9467522
one side: "itabag" has a specific definition and only certain things fall into that definition and are itabags. other similar things (con button bags/enamel pin bags) are nice but aren't itabags

other side: uwu itabags don't have rules as long as you like it it's ok

Deresute bag anon here. I got my bigger backpack that I was asking about earlier and I am regretting getting it in white. The rubber straps stand out great but the empty spaces are super obivious. Thanks for updating the doc after the ridiculousness!

I hope this isn't a dumb question, but I haven't had the same level of fandom over a character since Renji from Bleach, back in the day. (In my defence, I was on Japan exchange when the Seireitei arc happened and it was huge). But now I feel like a fandom grandma... would it be weird to make an itabag of such an old character? I have some old merch sitting in boxes because I didn't know what to do with it.
>>
>>9469527
>>
>>9469533
There are anons making bags for YuGiOh and Hetalia characters, so having a 'classic' husbando isn't too uncommon at all! You might have a harder time finding 'modern' merch for it, but that's when you get to be creative.
