When would you consider that your Lolita wardrobe is too big?
Is there a moment when you decide to start selling just to get space for new things?
What is your blouse/jsk ratio?
Is there a golden standard?
Is there a limit?
Not considering money as a limit. There is that time after years in the fashion, after brand pieces are getting cheaper, taobao brands are flourishing and you can find 20 usd Lolita dresses in AliExpress with a decent shape, let alone the quality.
My ratio is 35/35 and planning to downsize, but I like all my dresses
>When would you consider that your Lolita wardrobe is too big?
When I no longer have room to store all my things. I'm almost at that point. I've had to get rid of lots of normie clothes in order to have enough room in my closet for my lolita wardrobe, which now takes up 2/3 of my closet. To think, lolita used to be just a little corner of my closet...
>Is there a moment when you decide to start selling just to get space for new things?
For sure. Honestly, I'm always in need of more space for new items, so anytime I get tired of a piece I list it for sale immediately.
>What is your blouse/jsk ratio?
I seem to be a bit of an outlier in that I prefer OPs to skirts and JSKs, but I still have a good amount of JSKs/skirts.
Currently I have:
16 JSKs
7 Skirts
15 Blouses
18 OPs
I don't really think there's a gold standard or a limit. I'm not done collecting. I want to force myself to buy more skirts and JSKs, personally, but I tend to just adore OP cuts.

>Drowning in a Lolita wardrobe
This would be my dream death btw
Suffocating in my dresses.
>>9459370
32 main pieces and counting. I'm running out of space.
10 OPs
24 JSKs
5 SKs
26 blouses
16 boleros/cardigans/caplets
Not including the 20 other pieces on their way to me in the mail. I'd say about 90% is brand, that 10% being taobao or indie brand with 2 main pieces, and the rest blouses. I have so many different styles of shoes in different colors that they don't even fit in my closet. I need to get something to help compact my shoes into the space I have in my closet.

>When would you consider that your Lolita wardrobe is too big?
I'd say my limit is also based on space like the other anons, but I also have more wardrobe space at my current place than I've ever had before.
>Is there a moment when you decide to start selling just to get space for new things?
Only if I know I'm intentionally "upgrading" a given dress - I like everything I have since I rarely impulse buy.
>What is your blouse/jsk ratio?
Really bad, I think I'm at 25/4 or something. This year was supposed to be building more of that but damn it's hard to stick to it when wishlist dresses keep popping up for decent prices.
Don't think there's a standard or limit either, it depends on each person's available resources, space and tolerance for how many possessions you want owning you.
>>9459431
I have 34 main pieces and I own more than what I can ideally wear in a reasonable amount of time. I'm not a daily lolita and I work 50+ hours a week plus always on call so I can rarely make actual plans. Why I have this many, I don't know. I collected dream dresses and I have items of different themes I really like. I only want to part with two items. Bought another dress today.
I wish i could put stuff in my closet. I share a room. UwU
I currently have 54 main pieces, and my wishlist is about 45 items long. I've given up trying to regulate or limit myself at this point and I just buy whatever. I treat Lolita more like a collector's hobby than an actual fashion, anyway.
>When would you consider that your Lolita wardrobe is too big?
When I stop having space to put things.
>Is there a moment when you decide to start selling just to get space for new things?
I think I've sold one thing ever, and it was because I didn't like how it looked on me.
>What is your blouse/jsk ratio?
33JSKs/22 blouses and cutsews. If I factored in skirts, which you also need a blouse with, it would be 40/22.
>Is there a golden standard?
No, as long as someone is happy with their wardrobe, it's good. Different people have different goals.
Is there a limit?
Not really. I'm probably never going to stop collecting. It's my goal to have an entire room filled with brand, but that's probably a long way off.
>>9459658
Are you me? I've slowly acquired a similar number over the last 7 years or so - had a big downsize when I started working but slowly worked my way back up to 30-odd dresses. I'm currently trying to get rid of ex-dream dresses and things I've fallen out of love with and no longer wear, but nostalgia keeps hitting me.
>>9460163
I've only been in the fashion for 5 years and I think I only have one piece remaining from my first year in lolita. I was almost up to this amount a few years ago but sold off half of it when I bought a house. furniture > brand and then I had sellers' remorse and my hand slipped a little and well...
I have an Ikea wardrobe. Right now all of my dresses are inside and they are literally being held up by their own collective mass. Then I see people with 50+ wardrobes. fml.
Also main piece to blouse ratio 34/20.
I am reaching close to 150 dresses. Wear lolita maybe once a month
>When would you consider that your Lolita wardrobe is too big?
When I've officially run out of space in both closets haha
>Is there a moment when you decide to start selling just to get space for new things?
I haven't sold anything specifically because I don't have space for it. It usually goes because I don't like it as much, and the extra space is just a bonus.
>What is your blouse/jsk ratio?
45 dresses and 54 blouses/bolero/cardigans
I'd like for my summer blouse collection to go up, but I'm basically covered for all times of the year
>Is there a golden standard?
I think it's always good to try to aim for a well themed wardrobe. That way you're not swimming in extra pieces for that one dress you rarely ever wear. However I'm totally like that, so I really can't talk. I've been wearing lolita for a long time and have accumulated so many different pieces, all of which I love..
>Is there a limit?
I think you should put personal limits on yourself for practical reasons but to each their own!
>>9459370
>When would you consider that your Lolita wardrobe is too big?
When all you consider before buying a dress is your storage space
>Is there a moment when you decide to start selling just to get space for new things?
Yes, when I no longer have storage space
>What is your blouse/jsk ratio?
65 blouses and cutsews to 70 jsks
>Is there a golden standard?
I think 1/1 is good if you wear a variety of styles, but you could probably get away with 1/2 or even 1/3 if you only wear one substyle
>Is there a limit?
No, as long as you can fit it all in
It varies person to person based on what they want out of their wardrobe. For instance, if you're a collector, your limit is going to be a lot higher than someone who wants to get regular wear out of everything they own. Also, someone who wears lolita every day is obviously going to have a higher limit than someone who only wears it a few times a year. I myself am a daily lolita who also collects, so I wouldn't think of myself as having too much until I got to like 300. However, I have a friend who only wears it once in a blue moon and considers her wardrobe of 20 to be too big.
I checked my spreadsheet and discovered that I just bought my 100th main piece ever! I've only sold like 5 things so my wardrobe is like 95 main pieces and 25 blouses. I know that sounds like a dumb ratio but I have a gothic wardrobe so I only need black blouses in different styles.
I didn't think I'd ever want to stop buying, but I definitely have slowed down recently and will only buy dream dresses or something I really love; my wardrobe is full of filler, everyday pieces and even though I wear lolita almost every day, it feels like I wear the same pieces over and over. I did have to have a second closet built to accommodate the growth of my wardrobe but seeing as I'm a daily lolita it seems pretty reasonable to me.
>>9459370
>When would you consider that your Lolita wardrobe is too big?
I have a little over 10 main pieces and I already think it's too much for me.
>Is there a moment when you decide to start selling just to get space for new things?
I will probably do that soon, I just still want to wear some pieces a few more times before I sell them.
>What is your blouse/jsk ratio?
I have about 8 blouses but I'm looking to replace some, since they don't fit. I also have some identical blouses because they just really work.
>Is there a golden standard?
No, it depends on taste/habits.
>Is there a limit?
Nah, do whatever you want! (unless it's an addiction and/or puts you in a bad situation)
>>9459370
>When would you consider that your Lolita wardrobe is too big?
At the moment I have 15 main pieces and my wardrobe is over crowded, but in a perfect word without storage problems this is far from "too big"
>Is there a moment when you decide to start selling just to get space for new things?
I have thought about it but i'm the kind of person who is attached to everything…
>What is your blouse/jsk ratio?
2 blouses for every jsk or skirt. I just simply adore blouses.
>Is there a golden standard?
>Is there a limit?
Every person has a different context so there is no correct answer.
I would say: buy things you really like only if they won't create you problems in any practical or economical way.
>>9460239
Okay, I'll bite. How do you store 150 dresses, and what do you do with them if you only wear one once a month? You'll wear 12 a year, it'll take you 11-12 years to wear them all just once...
>When would you consider that your Lolita wardrobe is too big?
Probably when I run out of space. I wear lolita pretty often but I don't mind the prospect of having more than I could wear. I would say that I'll never be just a collector, but I don't mind collecting. If that makes sense.
>Is there a moment when you decide to start selling just to get space for new things?
I haven't reached that point and I'm not sure if I ever will, unless I find myself starting to lose interest in a piece. I use that "one in, one out" principle more often for my normie clothes that I don't care about as much.
>What is your blouse/jsk ratio?
13:22, I think. I definitely want more blouses, but I usually wear cardigans and boleros so the blouses go unnoticed a lot of the time.
>Is there a golden standard?
In regards to the blouse/jsk ratio? Preferably 1:1 or at least 1:2. Blouses free up a lot of different coordination options.
>Is there a limit?
Your budget and your space. Even at 30-something pieces I feel like I might be pushing it in regards to space constraints. But I don't think I'll ever want to stop buying all of a sudden, not in the near future at least, because I want to have the things that I like.
Tonight I realized that I need more damn blouses, but buying a main piece is so much more fulfilling.
>>9459370
I have 18 main dresses and 20 is my ideal goal. I wouldn't mind owning 35 though.
This thread reminds me of a conversation from last week with my boyfriend and his parents.
>dad: "You should get an insurance for your stuff"
>bf: "Yeah, maybe now with the new TV. But I didn't think we needed one before. Out stuff isn't worth that much."
>me: "Honey, I think my dresses alone are at least 4000 by now."
>bf: "Wtf? This would mean you'd have about 12 dresses by now. You're overestimating things."
>me: "I-I have 18 dresses dear."

Folded and stacked in my closet. I just keep them, sell only if I really don't like it or if it doesn't fit
>>9460177
Yeah storage is an issue for me too. I don't think I have anything left from my first year in lolita at all, my style has changed so much. I have around 40 blouses/tops/cutsews give or take, but a lot of them cross over into being "work" tops if needed (particularly vintage pussybow blouses) so I'd probably have more like 10 lolita-only blouses/cutsews.
>>9459370
>When would you consider that your Lolita wardrobe is too big?
When storaging everything comes a problem. I don't want to end up like hoarders. It's also healthy to sell something once in a while to keep used to it.
>Is there a moment when you decide to start selling just to get space for new things?
Actually, I get this feeling pretty often. It's sometimes hard to tell if something is going to be worth of keeping and sometimes I get the feel I have gotten everything out of a certain dress so even if I still like it I might sell it to get a dress with more use to replace it.
>What is your blouse/jsk ratio?
I have 28 blouses, cardigans etc. and 22 jsks and 8 skirts. However, I rarely use skirts. I'm a bit picky with tops so I feel like I have gathered a very versatile set of those.
>Is there a golden standard?
No. You can definitely manage with smaller ratio but it's definitely nice to have variety and certain themes etc.
>Is there a limit?
Only in storage space. I'm currently at 43 mainpieces and it's starting to get a bit snug.
I had around 180 main pieces at one point. I lost count and was dealing with some undiagnosed mental health issues. Knowing that I had a package in the mail stopped me from killing myself because I felt bad that my family would have mail arrive for me after I'd died.
Things are a lot better now but it's been a bitch to sell stuff.
>>9460572
not them, but some of us live in houses.
>tfw five closets
>more than enough room for 150+
>When would you consider that your Lolita wardrobe is too big?
It already is seeing as I haven't worn it in about 2 years and I keep buying things still. I love the fashion but I never dress up anymore, lolita or otherwise.
>Is there a moment when you decide to start selling just to get space for new things?
I should be doing this now but I love everything I have.
>What is your blouse/jsk ratio?
70 main pieces, 21 blouses but I also have heaps of headwear, outerwear, socks, accessories, bags, etc.
>Is there a golden standard?
No one can argue that 30 is a good amount.
>Is there a limit?
Not if you can afford it, have the space and actually wear it.
>>9460799
>Knowing that I had a package in the mail stopped me from killing myself because I felt bad that my family would have mail arrive for me after I'd died.
I relate to this a little too much.
>>9460799
>tfw lolita fashion very literally saves your life
godspeed, anon
>>9459370
>When would you consider that your Lolita wardrobe is too big?
I don't think it's possible...
>Is there a moment when you decide to start selling just to get space for new things?
Maybe. I usually sell things when I decide they aren't my style or I'm bored of them.
>What is your blouse/jsk ratio?
Blouses: 7
JSKs: 25
OPs: 4
Skirts: 4
Boleros/Capelets: 10
I desperately need to up my blouse game
>Is there a golden standard?
I don't think so. I think you could have a great closet with fewer pieces than I do, as long as you know how to coord well.
>Is there a limit?
As long as I can afford my rent and bills I don't think there is a limit
I have my own room for lolita and it has a fairly nice sized closet so I have more room to go until I think I have too much. But even when that runs out, I put a closet bar from wall to wall on one side of the room, so I have essentially a 8ft long closet for lolita.
Plot twist
>Are you considering a certain age or time for when to start selling it out?
I get terrifyed of being the 60 or 70 years old grandma wearing sweet Lolita, trying to act cute
and the new young adults trying to be tolerant
"In her young years she used to like fashion"
Or the old auntie who was cool before, and now is just weird
Just thinking about when to downsize and let go those pieces that will not be age-flattering
