I feel bad when I see it cause I know it takes special effort not to look extra fat in cosplay. Like you have to be decent at sewing, understand proportions, and know what shapewear is.

I don't cosplay or follow cosplay very much, and I enjoy amusingly bad outfits as much as the next person. But a lot of the stuff that happens in these threads seems pretty silly. It's like someone who plays tennis every weekend and joins amateur tournaments now and then showing up at a tennis court at a local park and shittalking some people who thought it'd be fun to borrow a pair of rackets from a friend one afternoon and knock a ball back and forth.

If the cosplayer had a legitimately bad personality and believed they were on the same level as professionals when their skills were terrible, then I would understand them being posted here. 99% of the people posted here don't fit that description and are instead just newbies or nerds who are just looking to have fun and not worry too much about their cosplay's quality so long as it's recognizable.

I visit these threads to take mental notes of "what not to do" since I to want put more effort into my cosplays and maintain a higher standard for my work, but the low-class pettiness here makes my eyes glaze over.
