He's still so nice-looking for his age. I know a lot of it's makeup and shoop but his skin doesn't look wrinkly and terrible.

I hope he continues to age gracefully and doesn't let the pressures of society and the fashion industry get to him.

Hes been around long enough I don't think the fashion industry will change him. He does what he wants and doesn't give two fucks about others opinions and or the shift of the fashion.
>>
>>9397230
He's definitely an individual, but I meant in terms of beauty standards and how lolitas worldwide perceive a lolita/ega with age on them. I feel like he won't bend to that though, he doesn't really seem like the type to care all that much.

He said this over 10 years ago: "In the G&L Bible they showcased a brand that had jumped the gothloli bandwagon and sold black dresses with a lot of lace, but changed the gothloli fashion into a business. I don't accept that as gothic lolita." He's never going to change lol.

I have a problem. Is it possible that my hair is too long and thick to wear a wig with? Every time I put on a wig, I look like an idiot. I want to wear wigs with my coords, but I'm hesitant to purchase more because of this problem.
>>
>>9397721
It's possible, but there's a lot of other possibilities as well. How are you pinning up and covering your hair? Where is your wig from? If it's too small, too thick, poor quality, or not trimmed to fit your face, it will look bad.
>>
>>9397731
It's from Arda. I measured before I bought it. I take my hair, put it in two braids and pin them flat to my head, then I put on the wig cap. Then comes the wig. It could just not be flattering my face, which is disappointing.

Are there any lolitas who live in buttfuck nowhere? I live in a place that has two small communities who are mostly itas. The less ita community is too far away and the closer one is tiny and very ita. There are no places to have tea here. There are no cute cafes. No little bakeries either. There's nothing fun for a lolita to do for meets. Should I just gtfo at the end of summer and seek better things? Do any other lolitas have this problem? I'm essentially a lone lolita because of these things...
>>
>>9398497

lone lolita here. the closest comm to me is 6 hour drive away i feel your pain. im moving (mostly for personal reason, i hate small towns) and i guess having a comm in my new city is a bonus. ive been lone for so long im not sure how ill feel being surrounded by lolitas all of a sudden. probably overwhelmed desu - i just hope some of them wear the same substyle as me so its not too awkward
>>
>>9398569
I mean, Momoko lived in buttfuck nowhere too. You can try to just wear lolita regardless but long-term you might be happier getting out if nothing else is tying you there.

Does anyone have experience with preordering from Lady Sloth? I preordered the sky series but I haven't heard back from them at all ever since sending in my size request and if I remember correctly they were supposed to ship in March? I haven't even been contacted about the second half of my payment. I believe the series is quite popular so they might just be a little overwhelmed right now but I'm starting to wonder whether something went wrong. If this is normal for them then I wouldn't want to bother them though.

>go to a couple of ita meets dressed in your absolute best
>have some itas fawn over you
>take 1-2 itas with potential under your wing
>itas transform
>congratulations, you now have 2 kawaii girl friends to hang with nearby.

Not all itas are forever itas. If the whole comm is an ita they are more likely to stay that way. Just be a positive influence people look up to and the ones who have the potential to leave the ita stage, will.

Don't stop wearing lolita just because of a lack of comm. If you like the fashion, just wear it. Source: past ita, past lone lolita.
>>
>>9399628
Nayrt, this advice is good but has potential to backfire. Less experienced girls might be impressed enough with anon to fawn over her, or alternatively they could be bitter and accuse her of being a brand whore (regardless of whether she's wearing brand or not) and reject her.
>Don't stop wearing lolita just because of a lack of comm. If you like the fashion, just wear it.
Wholeheartedly agree with this though.
>>
>>9395481
So who bought this? I posted the link knowing this would happen, so congratulations, you bought the more expensive one.
>>
>>9397469
so - does anyone know what the actual fuck is going on over there?
>>
>>9399669
I can see where you're coming from, but she doesn't seem to want to be part of that comm anyway so by them rejecting her she really wouldn't be losing a lot. Definitely more to gain from trying than not. Not all itas are the same. I found that usually they just have never seen or felt a real brand dress in real life to reallly compare it with replicas, shitty handmade, etc. Once some of them actually see the detail and fabric up close they fall in love.
>>
>>9398141
Aliexpress or ebay. They're like $5 or so.
Sometimes they arrive with slightly rumpled brims but you can iron them flat again.
>>
>>9399763
I can almost completely get behind this, apart from the fact that on many levels it is embarrassing just to be seen in the presence of itas, especially if you're in a small area where people might recognise you and assume that you're part of the same group. It can backfire and end up with you being associated with loud, costumey itas in the minds of the public instead of the itas learning to dress better.

>tfw in comm /cgl/ might describe as forever itas
>I prefer to affectionately think of them as forever nitpicks
>not terrible enough that I don't want to be around them, still mostly disapponting
>>
>>9399828
Who cares? Itas and well-dressed girls look the same to normies, equally cringy. Not to mention she'll most likely never see these people again.

>>
>>9399250

One of the GLBs came out with an adult lolita spread. Something about the general population of lolitas having gotten older and are no longer tweeny youths so they're shifting to market towards that instead of cutesy frilly maidens.

Eternita magazine is focused on "adult alice" style, though it's more like a mix of jfash rather than straight up lolita.
>>
>>9399949

Can't really agree with this.

I've driven to meetups with messy hair, no makeup, disheveled clothes because I was late, and then adjusted everything and straightened up in the venue's washroom. The difference between the way random bystanders react to me before the washroom and after is pretty astounding, they go from slightly hiding their dissapproval or pretending I don't exist, straight to friendly smiles.

People definitely notice. Normies might not know what an ita or lolita is, but they can recognise the difference between a polished look and a cringy weeb mess when they see it.
>>
>>9400343
I agree with this wholeheartedly. It seems only when my coordinates are lacking that I get negative attention.

Lolita Lola still have wooden-soled ones.

Before anyone suggests second-hand BtSSB or any of the Taobao stores that sell similar ones, they're more modern-styled ones with no cutout and a different upper so wouldn't work for oldschool.

I just got these hair combs in the mail but they don't stay in my hair at all? They slide right out, and if I get them in a place where they stay a little then when I move my head at all they fall out again. Is there some sort of trick to this? Is my hair wrong for it? I don't really wear wigs with lolita so I'd be very disappointed if they simply don't work with my own hair.
>>
>>9400563
Why wouldn't the Baby ones work for old school? As an old school fag I am pretty curious since I thought about getting a pair of Victories or whatever they are called but Baby shoes are worse quality and uncomfortable compared to Meta, for example, so I got Meta ones instead. It's not really about the small details like the missing cut out or foam or wood but the general feeling and how the shoe fits the rest of the outfit. I have only one wooden soled pair and no one has ever commented my shoes are inappropiate for old school lol. Also, Antaina sells Antenna replicas so I wouldn't say they don't work.
>>
>>9400852
I have only worn combs in my buns so I they don't really fall off to begin with but I like to secure them with bobby pins. I just put one or two pins over the comb and some hair and they stay pretty well.
>>
>>9400852
You should be able to use them more easily if you stick them into the ends of braids, right above the hair tie.

>>9400854
I wasn't talking about An*Tai*Na and I have no problem with foam soles, was thinking more of stuff like pic related that's very obviously not oldschool and even has the wrong sole height. It depends how nitpicky you want to get but IMO the scalloped BtSSB RHS that go very high up at the back and have a lot of crossover straps are very obviously and noticeably a more recent shoe, so even though they might aesthetically match oldschool items I would never get the feeling that something was totally accurate oldschool if they were in a coord.

I don't really know how old we are talking here or why would anybody even suggest those to Anon asking for RH's or even the Baby ones. However, AP and Baby have made tons of cork soled shoes with that same style and they were very common back then. If you start going through old sweet snaps it doesn't take very long to spot them. Of course the sole material is very different but the styling is very similar. I have to say I don't say which year Victoires were first released but Baby has had many shoes with similar soles before. Meta has had shoes with high back. Many shoes had cross over straps. It's fine to have an opinion but it's not same as a fact. I found I pic of the Baby shoes in question which seems to be an Baby add but I think it's a bit too new. However, have another pair of old Baby shoes.

100% Hotter is some shitty show my brother watches.
This is the second 'lolita' to appear on the show, and the public watch as they're turned into "normal people"
What are your thoughts? I personally don't understand why they'd choose to be on the show, it just paints a bad image.

Sorry for photo quality, the sofa is full, so this is the angle I'm watching the TV at.

>>
>>9401012
Cork and wood aren't the same though, but I get your point. I wish cork-soled shoes would come back, actually.

I don't think BtSSB RHS look bad with oldschool, and I actually want a brown pair of Victoire shoes, but, to me, they're on a similar level to using byojaku in oldschool. Not as egregious as doing insta-brows and highlighter, and actually work well with the aesthetic, but not something that was around in that exact form at the time. I'd say both an otherwise-traditional oldschool gothic coord with byojaku or an otherwise-traditional oldschool sweet coord with modern BtSSB RHS are still oldschool, but they're not "omg just like an authentic street snap" oldschool because elements aren't perfectly period. I know I'm being an autist and overthinking this though.

Here are there "official" photo for the episodes, I have a full co-ord outfit on my phone currently.
They never specifically say "lolita" -- but then again, the people don't get much say.

They just say "fairytale princess" and "childish" etc. (The one with the bow and was called "cosplay", but not of a specific character).
Although their outfits are definitely ita, they don't come under any other jfashion, they were fully poofed out jsks/skirts, OTKs, tea parties, they just end up with weird extras.
I'm not sure if it's like the other show, I never saw it.
The show states the style's "striking, individual and unique styles that can make people stop and stare." But on Facebook, the channel themselves refers to them as "crimes against fashion." They basically transform "weird" fashions to "normal" ones.

Oh, I guess the premise is pretty different. I mean, if she wanted a change in her life and used the show as a means to do so, more power to her?

Going back to your original question, lolita's not the only fashion that gets targeted for these types of shows so while the precedent's not great I doubt it'd have any actual effect on the rest of us.

I think what's more telling about anyone that appears on that type of show is how they need an outside "authority" to tell them what to do with their own lives.

Still new to buying from Lacwmarket. Is it normal for a tracking number from Hong Kong to be useless even after a week?
>>
>>9402406
>still new to buying from overseas

if you chose registered airmail as shipping method, which is cheaper but pretty slow, it can take up to like 3 or 4 weeks to reach your country.
the way airmail works is any plane that has room in its cargo holding will take your package and drop it off when it reaches its particular destination. it's like musical chairs--there's no straight route and the tracking won't be updated between these casual pick ups.

eventually your package will get a spot on a plane scheduled to land in a major city in your country. Once that happens you can track, using same tracking number, through your national post.

give it a little time and you'll see the update of when it makes it to your country.

How do you guys deal with people who quit lolita a few years ago, but still want to come to meetings in the comm?

At the moment there are a few salty bitches in my comm who are whining about the fact their 'friend' can't come to a picknick meet. This picknick meet is organized for lolitas only, but the thing is this 'friend' quit years ago. She sold all her lolita items, but now still wants to come to the picknick to meet up with her friends. Can't she just meet up with her friends somewhere without going to a lolita picknick?! Isn't it weird to show up at a lolita picknick without wearing lolita?

I have the opinion that if you quit with lolita, you also have to accept the fact that you can't come to meetings anymore.

No, they're at least as sturdy as Bodyline, and while you may get the odd statistic here and there who received a bum pair, on the whole Baby has pretty decent quality control, the shoes hold up well for years of normal usage.

It's just that they're $200-300 a pop, so when people say the shoes are not worth the quality, what they really mean is that you might as well get $30 Bodyline shoes, which are like a half step lower in quality, but the pricing is so much cheaper.

Seconding this. My comm isn't known as an ita comm but the well-dressed girls tend to have private meetups, so the rare public meetup in my area is going to be full of itas and cosplaychans. I figured what the fuck, I was an ita once, let's go to a few "ita meetups" as they are affectionally known and see if those can't be fun, too.
First girl I talked to assumed my dress was Taobao, then when I said it was AP assumed it was a replica (there are no replicas of this dress), then when I said I ordered it directly from the website she literally SCREAMED and spent like 15 minutes having this monologue about how much money that must have been and what a waste it is to spend it all on one dress. Asked me how I could afford it and didn't seem to believe me when I said I have a decently-paying job.
Second girl and third girls I talked to didn't say anything unpleasant to me directly, but they had an entire conversation about how retarded elitist brandwhores are and how there's no need to “waste money” on brand when Taobao, Bodyline and replicas exist. I tried to tell them about places to find affordable secondhand brand and about some indie brands I like but they looked super annoyed and ignored me, and just kept talking about how crazy and brainwashed brandwhores are.

cont.

>>9402706
Fourth girl I talked to I approached because she was wearing something clearly handmade and I’m into sewing myself. It didn’t look very good but I complimented her anyway to get the ball rolling. Eventually I brought up that you can find a lot of good lace online for cheaper than it is locally if you know where to look. She said she isn’t “allowed to buy online” even though she looked much older than me. At one point I hinted that to achieve a lolita silhouette, I always use at least 3x or even 4x my waist measurement for the skirt. She got very defensive, said she used 1.5m for the skirt (no more than 2x her waist by the looks of it) and that she preferred the way that looked. It clearly didn’t even fit a petticoat, but I decided not to push it.
Next weekend on BtB a secret was posted of my face scribbled over in MS Paint, calling me a brandwhore and an elitist bitch. I decided not to go to another “ita meetup”.

Have you never bought directly from a brand before?

You'll definitely be able to find it secondhand, but you'll have no one to blame but yourself if you can't find the cut and colourway you want, or if people are trying to scalp.

I just meant to add that. I hate when people say it's fine to buy knock off bags, shoes or whatever because brand quality is so bad. Well of course they can sell replicas for less because they don't have to pay for designers and the quality is often still worse but seems better for the price. It's still theft wheter or not there is a print on it. And still there are lots of brand shoes that are around 150$ which isn't that much compared to Antaina to be honest. Atleast when you consider the horrible quality and theft.

we've had this discussion before and you clearly have not been a part of it. it is not theft to make similar, logo-less designs. if you like old school or even just old OTT sweet style shoes you aren't going to find them in brand shops, and getting them secondhand but nwot or barely worn will be a rarity.

over time, as shoes wear down and brands move on from certain styles, the best way to get those styles is indie.
you want to talk about crimes like theft, yet you have no idea about just how legal it is to make "design replicas." sometimes the factory has leftover shoes from an order and has the rights to sell them off with a different brand name.

in the case of making "knock offs" you must realize that other designers work on those projects too. pics don't just get sent to a factory and then reps are made. someone picks the cheaper but optimal pleathers, finds a supplier of heart buckles, etc.

brand shoes will often be more finely made but they aren't invincible. they also don't make sizes for tall bigfoot-chans.
if a us11 buys a knockoff, brands don't lose money. the sale would have never been there's.

use your brain and stop thinking about business on such an incorrect, emotional level.

Last release was their Halloween line. It sold out within minutes. Ah that explains it. Hopefully you get your dream dress, I don't even want it if it won't look good on a bigger build. There are plenty of cuts out there that suit me and I hate when people wear unflattering cuts just because they love the print
>>
>>9400554
You should also consider that for best fit you need to be 3~5cm under those measurements, so starting at fitting 80cm bust size isn't huge by any means. Anyone with a 98cm bust and 88cm waist who smashes themselves into that thing are going to look awful and possibly damage it.

why do itas not seem to grasp the concept that many people involved in the fashion, especially the older ones, have jobs? you can have an entry-level job and still buy brand if you budget correctly. it's like itas are always "budgeting" in the wrong way.
>>
>>9403469
I don't think this is a concept that's limited to just itas. Pretty sure that a lot people don't/can't think beyond the socioeconomic conditions they grow up in unless they're particularly driven or had some sort of alternate guidance at some point in their lives.

If I had a legitimate interest in Aristo, Dandy and Ouji fashion, is it accepted to try and join the lolita community? I am hesitant because I know that a lot of the guys dress up to just have a chance at trying to get a gf. I have a wardrobe worth around 8k, but I can't bring myself to go outside in anything other than Dandy.

I suppose I want to ask your honest opinion on how you'd view a random guy trying to join your community, and your honest opinion how the other girls in your com would view a guy trying to join your community.

I feel it'd be easier to join if I was homosexual, as the girls wouldn't see me as trying to join just to prey on women. That's not the case though. I'm a straight guy.
>>
>>9403653
If you don't act like a weirdo, people won't think you're a weirdo. Body language is very powerful so if you're nervous, anxious, worried about what people are thinking, you're going to project that in your body language and thats when people think you're creepy. But honestly, if you're halfway decent looking I bet there will be a fair number of girls trying to get the d.

Anyways, I definitely wouldn't mind someone like you joining my comm - the biggest thing is how you present yourself. I think I'd be much quicker to accept a straight dude with a big wardrobe than a straight dude who joined the comm and has no idea what Angelic Pretty is or thinks he's cool because he knows who Mana is but that's it.

Tl;dr your credentials sound good to me, you aren't a rando with no knowledge trying to join, just be self aware of your body language and how you communicate with other people and I think it'll be fine.
>>
>>9403653
If you already have a wardrobe your best bet would be showcasing it and yourself wearing it on insta, CoF, etc. first. That way you establish credibility in your love for the fashion. Then you can join a comm no problem, since you will have those things to back up your interest in the fashion as a male.

If you try to get into a comm without having anything on your FB at least, or like having 1-2 photos, you will have a bad time.
>>
>>9403653
>a random guy
A guy with a genuine interest in fashion, even more so if he already has a solid wardrobe that he wears well, is not random.
Personally speaking, my comm has two "budding" oujis - That is to say, guys who have shown genuine interest and intention to wear the style. They understand they can't come to meets unless their clothes are within the dress code and they're respectable and pleasant to talk to, and they're welcome in our comm. Every comm is different obviously but I highly doubt that your local comm will shun you based on your gender and sexuality alone.
>>
>>9402991
Sisi has such a fashion princess mythology surrounding her, I can see why she appeals to lolitas. There are loads of historical costumers who like her, too.

I don't understand the extreme prices paid for the pieces, but I'll definitely go in on this MTO. I don't get why anyone would pay $1000+ for anything less than a super intricate set limited edition etc etc etc, but it's not my money, so who cares.
>>
>>9403548
Whenever I've ordered they usually take a week between emails. If you don't hear anything in a couple of days, then you could always email them.
>>
>>9403653
Are you trying to get a gf? If you're going to the comm strictly for the fashion then it'll come across that way, but if you're joining the comm with the underlying hope that you'll also find a gf that tension's going to come out sooner or later.

And as >>9403688 says, you may very well get thirst tossed in your direction if you're sending out mixed signals, so it's probably best to ask yourself what your motivations for joining a given comm are.

Thank you, I think the only fault I'll have is being anxious as it'd be my first time out in Ouji/Aristo as well as it being my first meet. Other than that, I'm confident in my appearance and I'm not a social retard. I'm no expert on Lolita fashion though, but I'm good enough to have a conversation.

>>9403709
This is the advice I needed. I'm quite clueless when it comes to com culture and I didn't even think of COF or instagram. I'll just need to buy a decent camera. Building my credibility is what I want before strolling along to a meetup.

>>9403710
I really wouldn't blame them if they did shun me. I've always viewed Lolita meets as primarily female with the males dressed up in Ouji or aristo being their boyfriends. I'm pretty ignorant on what goes on though, as I only get my information from /cgl/

>>9403774
No, I'm not in it to get a gf. I wouldn't have a problem getting one outside of the fashion. Only real benefit I'd get from having a lolita gf would that I wouldn't have to explain why I like the fashion. I've tried explaining Ouji towards normy gf's and it's probably just as bad if not worse than trying to explain lolita to a normy boyfriend.

But no, strictly in it for the fashion. If anything I'd just like a few friends that I could go out with while dressed up.

More like no, you just literally aren't.

Besides which, making very similar shoes with tiny differences is something brands do to each other all the time. Are Meta replicating AP when they sell near-identical tea parties? Are Queen Bee replicating Na+H? I admit that I feel iffy about Taobao brands exactly replicating distinctive designs, posting comparisons of how accurate the replica is, but most lolita shoe designs are not unique enough for it to matter.

How old are you? Bear in mind that in most comms 98% of the members will be 16-30 and the majority are usually college students or in their mid-20s. Real talk, if you're not in the relevant age range you're going to struggle to connect even if you do have anything in common and it's going to feel much weirder to have you attending. Think about how weird it'd be to have a middle-aged guy trying to socialise with a group of young women in another situation - the times I have found it weird interacting with guys at events have usually been when there's an age disparity like this. If you're a student or 20something and have tact and social grace it shouldn't be an issue.

>>
>>9405245
Why did hellolace die anyway?
Lolibrary is honestly a treasure and I hope they come back soon. Donated something earlier. We need to keep these kind of websites around.

I'm a lonelita so I don't know how intense comms can be about membership, but I wonder if you can't just go to tea with the mods or something and straighten things out?
if there's been enough time for people to cool off it'll be easy to talk it out like civil-litas

There are 4 dudes in my community, 3 are liked/not creepy, 1 is. How to not be seen as a creep? Just don't be horribly dressed and act normal. The one nobody likes is coincidentally the fat weeb. I met my BF through Lolita haha, being a straight guy in the community won't give you creep vibes unless you already give them off. If anything, worry about girls fighting over you and starting drama if you're decently dressed. when I started going out with my BF, a girl he rejected (we think, or some other asshole) posted secrets about us and myself and it was a bit of a mess for a while. Lolitas get catty.

I have a question about coats.
I covet the detailed coats that AP's come out with but I'm a busty thwomplita and would never fit them.

other then MAM and Restyle, (and godawful hellbunny) can anyone rec some beautiful indie brands that make lolita coats?
outerwear options are really lacking for plus-sized girls, especially beautifully crafted ones.
I appreciate any suggestions!

>>
Hello, ah, is there any good places to find a nice op or blouse with bell sleeves? I'm having a hard time finding any nowadaaays
>>
>>9405654
Hellolace died because the owner couldn't find a programmer to help her with the website. It also suffered from malware attacks. The owner stopped caring after it went on hiatus. She took it down because she left lolita and couldn't be bothered with the time and money it takes to keep Hellolace up.
>>
>>9406239
What were the comments?
>>
>>9406270
I never had the chance to visit hellolace. Was it that different of lolibrary?
>>
>tfw washed Nameless Poem on its own on low temperature and now the white parts are greyish

It looks absolutely stupid, especially since I didn't wash the detachable collar and that one's still a nice white colour. How could I have even avoided this? The black is in the dress itself. Guess I should've dry-cleaned it or something. Still sad my dress is ruined.
>>
>>9406288
> Low temperature

Did you use a washing machine? B&W is always handwash cold or dry clean. That really sucks, though. Maybe take it to a high-end cleaners and they can spot-bleach the faded bits. Pricy but worthwhile.
>>
>>9406295
Yeah, I did 'cause I'm an idiot. I guess now I know not to do this in the future.
>>
>>9406275
If I remember correctly (I started using it around the time before it was put on hiatus) the site was black and the logo was pink with yellow. It did have older items archived which have been lost to the abyss. Anyone who's been around longer than me could elaborate.
>>
>>9406275
Lolibrary's model is user generated content, while Hellolace is curated by one person. The Hellolace UI is cuter and has the layout (tiled/grid) that everyone liked. I'd send you to an archive, but unfortunately that's not really around anymore. You can read the intention of the owner from her old posts here: http://egl.livejournal.com/?poster=boxx2genetica

Lolibrary's emphasis is on archiving clothes and patterns, while Hellolace aims to be the one stop for all things lolita. It provides guides for shopping (list of now outdated secondhand stores) and beginner tips for lolita (including the division of substyles).

HL was a good resource, so it was unfortunate that she couldn't get the help she needed and stopped updating. Good thing the LL team has their archive of items just waiting to be uploaded.
>>
>>9406255
AP does bell sleeves quite a bit in their hime prints or outright hime dresses
>>
>>9406320
>Hellolace is curated by one person
Damn. That must have been a pain in the ass to maintain.
>>
>>9405685
Not OP but how hard is it to jump on the archives and search for "automatic honey"....? Do you expect people to hold your hand for all drama?
>>
>>9406319
Lolibrary has basically the whole site archived.
>>
>>9406468
It took like two seconds anon, if you don't want to say anything then don't, let someone else do it, lay off the salt there's no reason to continue this petty shit.
>>
>>9406275
Honestly I never found hellolace super helpful once I got past the beginner stage of lolita if I was looking for a specific dress, it never had a complete list of dresses so I was always having to go over to llolibrary anyway. I did like the layout a lot though and the information for beginners was well done. It also had a list of taobao shops and the fashion style it catered to along with a rating system which was really cool.
>>
>>9406320
I liked HL's layout for the sake of comparing dresses within a given brand. If Lolibrary ever builds a comparison tool as a paid feature I'd gladly throw money at them for it.
>>
I just submitted my order for Elizabeth Bride of Death in Black via the NYC shop online. I was a dumb fuck and failed to check the Japan Stock, which says it's sold out of black. So, how screwed am I? Do they just refund or is there a chance I'll still get it because it's a MTO?
>>
>>9406591
Okay, I'm confused. How can they be sold out if it's an MTO? That sounds pretty retarded to me. Do they not want money?
>>
>>9405242
>The thought of interacting with too many minors irks me.
Dunno how LA comms work, but if there are multiple comms or you're within travelling distance of a couple of different ones, shop around a bit to see where you fit in best. I live between two comms and in one the majority of the members are 25-30 and in the other only about an hour away most of the members are high school and college students, with just the mod and a couple of others being older.
>>
>>9405968
Taobao brands tend to do them in the winter, I remember Surface Spell did one the other year. Look on a site like my-lolita-dress, clobbao or glitzywonderland in the coats section to see what's available, then look up the brand name on Taobao if you want to avoid the markup.
>>
>>9406255
Where have you been looking and can you post a photo of exactly what you mean? Unless you're looking for a really specific style I can't see why they'd be hard to find, they're pretty common across plenty of Japanese and Taobao brands - I have like 10 from various places.

>>9406275
People have nostalgia goggles for it IMO, ages before it went down it was already outdated and missing a lot of releases. Both were up when I got into lolita around 2013/2014 and even though HelloLace's layout looked nice it didn't have that many dresses for some of the brands.
>>
>>9406645
You're comparing it when the owner was already inactive. Hellolace used to be more informative, easier to use and had a better layout than lolibrary, and apparently she did everything by herself yet it was always working. I don't know anything about websites so I don't get why lolibrary is always down and apparently takes so much work even though the only feature is taken care of by members.
>>
How do you make a petticoat less stiff? Iwant to use it for casual days so I don't mind if it loses volume
>>
>>9406821
I'd suggest you keep that one, it sounds great!
a stiff petti is hard to find/preserve.
if you want a casual one I'd say buy 1 or 2 leg avenue a line pettis from amazon or something. they are cheap and great for cas

what a fucking loser

I-I WOULD TOTALLY MAKE ONE MYSELF EXCEPT IT'S NOT W-WORTH MY TIME~~~

you don't know how to do shit and you know it, stop embarrassing yourself. or keep doing it, it's hilarios
>>
>>9406732
Lolibrary was ran on an unstable platform that left it vulnerable to malware attacks. After the owner passed away, there was a lot of hesitation on upgrades due to lack of technical expertise and unwillingness to lose data accumulated.
>>
>>9406889
Lolibrary also had a great uptime during the same time Hellolace was up, so compare apples with apples as you've said. Most of the work on Lolibrary in the early years was also done by one person.
>>
>>9406826
But I already have two better petticoats. It's so stiff it shows creases in my dress when worn.
>>
Lolibrary is working now! It looks so weird and different though now. How do I log in?
>>
>>9406972
You don't; not just yet.

The *vast* majority of the old site's features aside from search are works in progress and i'll be updating the site about 5-6 times per day for the next month or so.

The only downtime I'm really expecting is when I accidentally push a breaking change.

There's no closet/wishlist just yet, but there will be (I have everything from the old site archived away safely), and you'll be able to edit/suggest changes to items soon.

2 weeks of downtime for a half-ass baked website? Well...
I'm sad you didn't use the same url pattern for the rewrite. All my bookmarks in my browser are now 404.

>>
>>9406977
This is just an observation, but while searching various things again I noticed:
-using quote marks ("") and minus signs (-) do not narrow results down at all unlike the older Lolibrary, which makes searching by year or specific terms, for example, very frustrating.
-some things did not turn up when I could have sworn I found them just before the site went down (I was browsing by year, not by name). So I wonder if there were any transferring errors.
>>
>>9406591
No, you're fine.
For most releases all the stores have stock separate from the online store. So say physical stores share 100 dresses of each color. NY, SF and Paris have 10 each. If any don't sell it gets redistributed to the online store, except for this MTOs where online store had its separate stock too.
So for example if you ordered in SF, NY, Paris or the online store, you got the first round of the production since that stock didn't sell out quickly. People that went to the physical stores ended up with second, third round of production items because everybody assumed it would be easier to get it at the physical stores instead lol
>>
>>9407586
>all 404

Really? All item links should redirect.

And title + rel=canonical link are coming up soon.

>>9407588

Shoes are on their way soon, so it may be that. They were stored completely differently to other items for some reason because they were an addon to the site and seem to have been developed entirely separately...

>>9407595

We're using Algolia for search, so it's instant-searching. I'm going to work on making our own elasticsearch replacement (as Algolia is freaking expensive) but that will take a while.

For now, you should be able to just search for additional terms; there's typo-tolerance in there so you'll probably get extra items showing up.

>>9407202
That month includes several releases per day; I'll be updating the site pretty regularly. I do work full-time, though, so it'll probably be limited to weekends mainly.
>>
>>9407595
I do plan to make an advanced-search feature at some point too, but I need a designer to help me out with that one.
>>
>>9407609
>making our own elasticsearch replacement

A traditional search engine like on the previous site is fine.
We need the user-login, wardrobe and wishlist before a fancy looking ajax search thing.

I think it was an artificial bloodbath with low stock. The print is not that special and looks a lot like last year's cherry print which wasn't popular, so I think they just made very little of it.
