This looks cool and usually I enjoy most of this lady's coords but I feel like this is like.....not very lolita??? Like I would've enjoyed an OTT coord accessorized with aspects of an elizabethan outfit, but this seems less "lolita" and more like "modern interpretation of an elizabethan outfit inspired by lolita" or something. Really I think if she just had a proper lolita skirt on it would make it much better.

There were a lot of historically inspired outfits at this event. I would cringe every time someone would say THIS IS A GOTH EVENT. No it wasn't.

Is Omnia Vanitas strictly lolita fashion, though? I had the impression the event was also shared by steampunkers and other alt styles.

Based on what I've seen on insta, it seems like there was a very low turn out compared to other SFE events. I wonder if maybe this was due to the location or less than amazing guests, or possibly a combination of the two.

For me it was a combination of the two, definitely. The location was too far away and too, uh, "foreign" (I've been to plenty of European cities but never Barcelona, plus I don't speak Spanish and don't know how well I can get away with just English in that city) and the guests weren't attractive enough for me to try and take the leap. I thought it was just me but apparently plenty of other people felt the same way. Only three girls from my comm went.

The venue looks AMAZING from pictures I've seen. I had a GA ticket for Sat only but some things came up and I wasn't able to attend. I really love some of the coords I've seen, but some of them are rather costume-y. I feel like I'd look super lackluster with a simple coord. Ah well. Hope it's fun for everyone!

When the event got initially announced, I was highly intrigued by the theme and I was expecting it to be more "gothic" focused, but the guests didn't match the theme at all, so eventually I lost interest and didn't buy a ticket.

The ticket sale was also a complete mess (not being able to use paypal) and started too late (only like 3 or 4 months in advance iirc). Last years event was in Mai, so you had 2 months more time (so, like 6 months in advance) to find an accommodation and to plan your trip. My boss prefers that I announce a few months in advance when I want to go on vacation, if it's too short-termed she may simply deny it to me and tell me to choose another date. Barcelona is an interesting location though, to me the whole event just felt a little bit too rushed and not worth the stress.

I actually thought Victorian Maiden was the best guest they've had so far, I hope to see a lot of vm coords.

I loved the guests and really wanted to go, but because Barcelona is quite far nobody else I knew was going. Barcelona is the pickpocketing capital of the world and prefers to speak Catalan, not even Spanish, so I was worried about navigating the city alone. I would probably have picked Omnia Vanitas over Dream Masquerade Carnival for my European lolita event this year if I had had anybody to room with.

I also think they announced the guests in a bad order. Too many of the guests were announced after tickets were released, which was a stupid move IMO.

Catalan is their native language but they're fine with speaking Spanish, or English if they can. Spanish/Catalans are actually known for how welcoming they are to tourists (possibly because it's next to France). I was there and I totally agree. Not just that lots of people are getting bad quality donations, it also took an hour to get through the raffle. That's more than 25% of the time we had. The tea party flew by but the raffle felt like it took for fucking ever.

There was a question to the woman from Leur Getter about the difference between otome and lolita, which basically rested on day-to-day wearability. Someone asked RoseMarie Seoir if she was going to release more kid's clothes, and she said maybe, but that it was a project she had only worked on as she had hurt her ankle.
