What's your opinion about non-anime or industry guests at a con?
Only one con I go to calls themselves an anime convention.. so it's completely expected. I love it when I get to see my favorite youtubers in person.
I just got that email about Yakov Smirnoff. Odd choice.

Depends hugely on the con.
Its its an anime con, I don't really want anything there that isn't anime. I'll give japanese video games a pass as its closely related but fuck off with western cartoons and irrelevant people
If its a con for the shit and its fine of course
As long it isnt overwhelming while trying to bring out relevant guests I don't care. A-Kon notoriously and constantly brings out authors and Steampunk guests. They deservingly get shitted on as they don't bring current guests except everyone who works at Funimation.

In the Yakov email they promised a "huge" anime guest announcement tomorrow. So as long as the focus is still on anime, I'm a-okay with other stuff being represented.
A lot of people go to cons just for the raves and parties for example.

The CEO of MAPPA is kind of a big thing, I'll give them that. Hope Kopf doesn't shit it up!

If it's tangently related to anime I'll let it pass because I'd rather have some content creator like Rebecca Sugar who has clear anime influences over some rando English dub VA who voiced a few minor characters in Funimation animes

How is Yakov Smirnov remotely related to anime?
