Most Katsucon videos are just the same old sterile shit with slow mo, drive by pans.

The content is also typically the same...boob armor, slutty genderbends, eevees, sailor scout AU, warrior disney princesses,with some choreographed idol group dancing sprinkled in here or there.

Gimme a vid of people having fun at a convention 10/10 times over katsucon serious business videos.

On a more serious note, what does it take to get into cosplay music videos? Personality? Looks? Popularity? Actual craftsmanship?

I'm not ugly and I usually bring fairly complex costumes that win craftsmanship awards... but for some reason I never end up in videos and it always disappoints me after every con. I get a lot of photographer attention, but never videographers. I try to say hi to people like Beat Down Boogie and catch their attention, but they just kind of walk right by me. Then I end up seeing high schoolers in online-purchased costumes show up among the big names like JNig, Bindi Smalls, etc. I know I sound butthurt but I do want to know what exactly they look for.

im pretty sure it's just about being in the right place at the right time. I've been filmed a few times and I'm not popular or well known by any means. The first time I was wearing a typical "impressive" looking costume, with a ball gown and big wings. The other time I was waiting for my photographer for a shoot, it was pretty early in the day and there wasn't a lot of cosplayers out yet. I feel ya though it definitely sucks when you're watching videos after the con and you can't help but feel left out, but try not to take it too personally.

It really is hit or miss. For some reason, my first shitty cosplay got a lot of attention and I ended up in two cosplay videos (not major ones but still baffling to me). I think it helps to be in a group and you definitely need something big/flashy or you need to be really cute

For me I just beg for a cosplay music video that is actually shot like a music video. Nine times out of ten the music is just background dressing and the footage barely engages the song's tempo or lyrics
