Basically what happened was they initially said you needed a ticket to get into the concert, then some time before the con started they announced that tickets weren't necessary after all.

Day of the concert, some wota start lining up HOURS too early (despite being told not to do so by staff themselves) and one of the volunteers goes rogue and gives them all special line-jumper tickets so that they don't cause a fuss, even though they were basically breaking the rules. And then they waffled between saying these tickets were / were not valid before deciding whoops, they are!

So basically the line distribution for the concert, whch was supposed to be just the VIP holders first and then everyone else, got split into FOUR (VIPs with tickets, VIPs without, regular folks with tickets, everyone else) because some wotas have no concept of following rules and deserved asspats for it apparently.

It seems like they're either doing things under different names and keeping to their shadiness, or they're just lying low for now about it and not really doing anything because they know someone will uncover it.

So why is everyone in this thread pretending that the con is complete shit? It has its issues, but all cons do. At the end of the day, the guests, panels, artists, and dealers are pretty damn good. It still blows away 95% of US anime cons. The only ones that compete with it are ACEN, AWA, Otakon, and AX.

They half-assed the weapon checks. My gf had to have her broom zip tied, but there were plenty of people with guns/staves/etc that had no ties on them. We took the zip tie off later so I could fix part of the broom and they never said anything about it. They also never checked our bags, we brought in maybe 3 bottles of water and some chips. Staff probably just got lazy, which always leads to bad shit at cons.

I was in the PuriCura booth when they closed off a nearby section of the dealers room and then someone came up to my friends and said someone got stabbed.
