I'm planning to cosplay at Liverpool comic con. What's the best superhero cosplay to do?
I enjoy a variety of Batfamily members and have been considering cosplaying Nightwing or the Red Hood but have no idea to get accurate costume stuff.
Have you guys cosplayed superheros? Feel free to post below.
There's one super-hero who really needs to be done more at cons.
I actually enjoy western comics more than anime and cosplay almost exclusively from comics. Unfortunately this board isn't populated by many cape cosplayers. I'll dump some of what I have.

It's kinda strange when they're the most cosplayed lol
Also, any help you can give in regards to costumes would be really appreciated. FYI I'm UK based and it's 2 weeks away. I've left it very late.

I think you're going to be hard pressed to find anything ready made in the Batfamily that you're not paying out the ass for, especially in two weeks. Nightwing you want to just look into armor making, and Red Hood you'll probably have to look into pepakura to make the hood. You might also look at the RPF from more construction specific stuff.
Also I'm a gril, so I've never looked into either of them specifically.

I was honestly just thinking of buying the cosplay. I actually have yet to make any cosplay because I suck at it haha.
>>9374437
Again, I'm a girl who makes my costumes, so I have no suggestions. Sorry.

It's fine :) is that you in the picture?
>>9374416
there is a suggestion thread for asking who you should cosplay
>>9374465
I'll look for it now
>>9374450
Naw, no desire to selfpost on cgl.

I get where you are coming from. I don't usually post myself either.

My honest advice: Just don't. 2 weeks (scratch that, make it 1 week plus another for delivery) is too little time to commision a whole decent looking costume, and any cosmaker that says they can make it, will either cost you an arm and a leg, or scam you for an arm and a leg.
Try to be patient and wait for the next big event near you, and in the meanwhile, just go and enjoy the con (Birmingham MCM expo?).

>this costume will never be in a movie
Op you are boned if you only have two weeks. you would have to spend a stupid amount of money to get a good costume constructed that fast or pray that someone not from china has one on sale.

Not a fan of the raw edges on the leg, but I liked her pose. So many hall shots are so bland.

Beside the edges, I meant that the poor thing's so thin, you can see the fisnet stockings below.

What costumes is anyone working on? What cons are you attending?
I'm going to Wondercon in a month or so, and I'm thinking of throwing in my Gwen Stacy for Friday. Its pretty easy to wear and better yet, I've already made it.
>>9374649
I'm over in England lol I've no ideas what I'll be wearing.
Gwen Stacy is a great cosplay.
>>9374649
Good ole' Gwen or some legacy abomination?
>>9374660
I'll bring the "night she died" outfit (green trench coat, purple skirt) although I've also done Spider-Gwen. That cosplay is waaay less comfy.
>>9374649
I did a Vigilante Spiderman design for katsucon (bottom left) but it still needs alot of work. I gotta get a new mask for it, one that doesn't outline my whole face and paint the lenses of my goggles white. If anyone could recommend me something for the goggle paint wise I'd appreciate that.
Upcoming cape based cosplays I'm still thinking of. The two cons I'm going to which are ANEXT and Boston Comic Con I gotta plan. ANEXT I've got some other comic design in the works. BCC I wanna plan something since its my first time there. I want to do a Marvel and DC cosplay for that.
DC wise I've always wanted to get either a Sons of Batman or Green Lantern group cosplay together. But none of my friends are that into comics like me and the ones who are don't cosplay.
>>9374738
Bummer. I'd love to do larger group cosplays but I can never find comic cosplayers to do it with me. I know they're out there, I just can't find them before the con.
>>9375258
Same here, all my friends kinda scoff when I suggest a comic related cosplay unless it's movie designs. I hate doing movie designs because as you can see from the picture, over half the stuff there was movie/netflix design related. The comics could offer some pretty cool designs for characters.
Originally for Katsu I was gonna do Blood Spider complete with the backpack but my cosplay plans got screwed so I had to change to something simpler that was in my budget. I always love it when I see people cosplaying obscuring or unknown cape characters at cons.
I met a guy at that shoot who was dressed as Rampage from Valiant (I thought he was Bloodshot at first) and we hit it off pretty well. Rarely see people cosplay from Valiant.
>>9375364
Its definitely gratifying when some fan knows exactly who you are, although I don't think that's exclusive to cape comics.
I've found the Spider-people I've met at cons to be some of the nicest, most welcoming groups of cosplayers, and so many people are such hardcore fans. Plus there is such a wealth of costumes. The Spider-verse meet-ups I went to two years ago were really fun.
>>9374419
Doing him at Dublin Comic Con in Ireland for at least a day.
No way you can do a full costume in two weeks. Alternatively, you can do a hero out of costume thing. Pic related. Its a phone screen shot so sorry if its big.
Another one I appreciate if the makeup is done well is mystique in mid transformation.
>>9374437
2 weeks is NOT enough time. A simple red hood might just be easy to "make" - thrift a brown leather jacket, black shirt and pants, fabric paint red bat, fake gun, domino mask from craft foam or face paint, and hair color spray for the white weft (if your hair is naturally black). Super easy, not even a lot of "making" to be honest just like, be able to google some craft foam tutorials and know how to color within the lines.
Generally an actually fully made cosplay for something like this could take well over two months from first contact to mailing it out to you and that's on a pretty tight timeframe.
>>9376261
2 weeks is lots of time if you know what you're doing. I made this in 4 days.
>>9376280
>if you know what you're doing
Key phrase. Anyway, 2 weeks is enough time to buy a costume if you're willing to pay out of the ass for shipping. Hell, a commissioner can be bribed into doing a rush order but I wouldn't recommend trusting those people with deadlines.
Anyon at ECCC this weekend? Any cool cosplays there?
So now that we know who on /cgl/ does superhero cosplays. Anyone wanna use this thread to find people they could get a group with for an upcoming con? Just say which one you're doing next and see where it goes.
I'm gonna be doing, ANEXT, Otakon and Boston Comic Con
>>9374649
Im working on Arkham Knight Scarecrow and Captain Boomerang, which I took pieces of different iterations of him.
My next con is probably gonna be Phoenix Comicon. Pic related, my gauntlet.
>>9377218
Props to you, LEDs look great and I know they're a pain in the butt.
Hot damn I wish there were more people who cosplayed Kirby designs. I'm putting together plans to do Kanto at some point
>>9377544
is that muhfuggin DragconCon?
>>9377579
No idea, had it saved from a /co/splay thread
>>9377225
I really appreciate that! Thank you. Its my dream cosplay and I really want to do it justice.
