I have really long nail beds so I like doing unconventional french manicures for my coords. Pic related, for Horror Garden.

My coworkers always tease me for having a new style of nails every couple of days. I wish more women could appreciate nail art and taking care of their hands.

I don't know why people think it is so hard to wipe one's ass with long nails. More concerning is knocking the decorations off doing chores. I've done a few complex designs and ended up destroying it after a day which is frustrating.

I just got a new set of acrylics. Guy did alright, but I'll have to shape them a bit better. I prefer long nails with a single coat of chunky glitter polish. I also like glitters with a jelly finish. It looks good over acrylic nails. I usually match at least a couple outfits out of the week if my nails aren't short.

I like both complex designs and simple designs equally.

I recieved a gelish manicure kit with the mini UV lamp as a gift. I tried out the application a couple days ago and I love it so far.
However, I'm a little worried about using UV lamp around my hands about every two weeks. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion of an affordable LED lamp I could use instead.
Do any of you guys do gel nails by yourself? I'm very new to this so advice would be appropriated!

Try having an indi nail artist do them. I like to have a salon do the acrylics and then I pay some amateur to do the designs.

Super long nails are not common except in gyaru. Nail art and medium length nails are common. Some of the more elaborate designs are fake nails. They come in a pack and you can use glue or nail stickers to attach them. Either way they are easy to remove compared to acrylic or gel extensions.

I actually tend to go for a similar design with my nails. I'm an old Buffy fan who took inspo from Drusilla's nails. It's ended up as my signature nail style ever since. As most of my coords are all black, black's my usual main colour on my nails. Gold is my favourite tip colour (OPI do some gorgeous golds), but I also like purple or white. I'm a fan of solid rather than glittery colours as a whole, but do also really like an iridescent purple Revlon polish I have. If I'm going for extra fancy, I have some lovely decals with ancient Egyptian designs on them (which match my favourite jewellery).

Yes its pretty normal. you can buy less strong smelling monomers but i dont think theyre ever going to be odor free

How do you keep your nails healthy? Whenever I'm stressed the first thing to go are my nails, just snapping off left and right.
I'm also a secretary so I type a shit ton all day and I can never keep my nails healthy and long without them getting in the way.
Any tips?

Sally Henson's Hard as Nails. It's wonderous for helping to strengthen nails, and looks really nice as a clear polish that works well as a top coat as well. I work a lot on a computer so my nails bend annoyingly when they get long, but my thumb nails are nowadays so thick because of the stuff that it's painful when the do bend.

You'd spend about $45-$100 to get a set applied and painted/3D decorated at a good nail shop. You can also bring your own little deco items in or talk to the people beforehand about what the charms are made of, and if the nail tech is worth anything they'll happily incorporate it into your nails.

I'd say that a good professional set lasts longer, but I've never had any luck with at home nail glue

This is the first time I've done my nails in yeaaaars, because I bite 'em real bad. Hopefully having these on will curb that long enough to grow them out.

My biggest problem is picking off my nail polish. Once there's a small chip in one nail I just go to town and peel the entire manicure off. Good thing I paint them myself and don't pay someone else to do them for me.

How do acrylic and gel nails hold up to trauma? I do baton competitively and I always break my nails at practice, but I've been wanting to get them done. It's a shame bc my natural nails grow nicely and look really nice, they're just too brittle to hold up to the baton. Will I be in a world of pain if I get acrylics/gel? Does one hold up better than the other? How hard is it to repaint them yourself? I paint my nails once a week or so bc I like to match my clothes, but I also behave to remove color for competition.

Does anyone else have very wrinkled knuckles as if their hands lost a ton of weight and now have excess skin? My hands are soft and my nails are in good shape but is there anything can do about my top knuckles especially?

just get a layer of gel/acrylics on your natural nails to harden them, you can ask the salon which option is better

which one is better depends on your artist and what they are best at.
repainting them is hella easy
just remove it with acetone free nailpolish remover, so it doesnt harm the fake nail
