Old one is in sage. Discuss 2017 plans, dream idol cosplays, dance groups, etc.
How do you feel about the Love Live cosplay facebook groups?
>>
>>9335886
> 2017 plans

A lot of Love Live, a tiny bit of Idolm@ster.
Got Yume no Tobira, Seven Lucky Gods Eli maybe Circus, Dia, Mari and Kanan with the summer uniform, and Perfume Tripper Shiki ;; I'm just waiting on her wig because its on a Taobao order and well... CNY :v
>>
>>9335913

Mind showing me the Shiki wig? I'm thinking of cosplaying her but Ive yet to find one I'm happy with.

Namakemo no Fairy Anzu and Noble Venus Minami are the only ones I have planned for now.

I'm getting this one
>>
>>9335925
I'm sorry if this is a super stupid question, but where do you find the reference images like this?
>>
>>9336172
Not that anon but if you have a SSR you can watch the 3d model in game

Otherwise this tumblr makes renders of the models and you can que any card you'd like to see http://cgss-refs.tumblr.com
>>
>>9336198
Oh! How wonderful, thank you so much!
>>
I've got a cosplay skit coming up in March and we're doing Kaguya no Shiro de Odoritai. I would say like 5/9 of us are really serious about nailing the cosplay and dance, and I'm worried that the other 4 are going to fuck around or flake off. It's so damn hard to organize 9 people for even one practice...
>>
>>9336367
I had a group that wanted to do a dance and the leader actually booted someone for not learning it. On the day of the con only my close friends and I actually knew the dance.
>>
>>9336172
There's a database site that has all (I think?) of the CG costumes including the turnarounds for SSRs, which is where I found the references that I posted.
http://imas.gamedbs.jp/cg/
>>
>>9336702
This is great!! Thanks a lot, anon!!
>>
>>9336771
No problem! I forgot to mention this in my last post, but the iM@S thread in /vg/ has a links to references for other games like Million Live too.
>>
>>9335886
>
Miki a shit, but her outfits are usually the cutest. Also easy cus they use little fabric. Just sayin
>>
>>9335886
Top row are decided, bottom row if I get the time! Lots of Idolm@ster and a little Tokyo 7th Sisters.
>>
>>9337294
Hype for Praline, props to you for cosplaying from Bravely Default anon!
>>
>>9337357
I'm really hyped for it! Making a Tiz cosplay for my bf as well
>>
>>9337294
Abe Nana a best.
>>
Meet a girl who said her and her friends are going to be doing pripara at a con I'm going to and now I'm contemplating being Sophie since I don't want to cosplay it alone
>>
>>9336564
I'm halfway convinced this is what's going to happen lol. Honestly I'd rather have 5 good dancers that have the dance learned well rather than 9 dancers who aren't coordinated and look messy. But damn it would be cool to have 9 people actually committed to learning the dance and nailing the cosplay :/
>>

Chihaya8.jpg
1B, 486x500px
I want to cosplay this card but I don't want to get mistaken for Hestia...
>>
>>9337801
Unfortunately you probably will, since it's a card that is very different from Chihayas usual cards. I wouldn't have recognized it as Chihaya desu
>>
I seriously love the new Aquors set, except for the bonnets... why did they have to put on them those?
>>
>>9338045
awe I like the bonnets... probably because I'm so sick of tiny hats from the artists lol
>>
I actually prefer the unidolised ones more. The bonnets are a deal breaker for me. I'll reserve judgement for when my favorite girls design comes out but from the looks of it, they all have bonnets rather than having a mix.
>>
>>9338094
Same. I'd rather something like a lace headband or nothing at all.
The bonnet just takes me back to primary school history field trips.
>>
>>9338104
This! I'd rather the headbands with bows or nothing than those bonnets
>>
I thought I might try asking here since others have been successful in the past.
I'm looking to make the Heartbeat (Love Live) stage dresses later on this year and wondered if anyone had any references of those?
>>
There's a new Macross series coming out in 2018. What would it have to do to boost its cosplay levels to LL levels?
>>
>>9338040
Well that's because you're a casual. I would recognize it as Chihaya in a heartbeat, but it would still be easily mistaken for Hestia.
>>
>>9338415
watch out guys we have a Real Fan here
>>
>>9338110
>>9338104
>>9338094
>>9338045
Really? I think the bonnets look a little weird, but they do fit the theme of the set.
>>
>>9338464
Actually, I think you're the one who really isn't in the know. Yeah they worded it retarded, but this is a pretty popular Chihaya card and if you knew who Chihaya was to the point where you could identify her otherwise, most could also recognize her in this card. I think it's just you.
>>
>>9338226
>have a light-hearted relatable cast
>have a wide variety of outfits, varying from simple to OTT
>>
>>9338415
They weren't asking about idol fans recognizing it, but anyone at con in general. You have to remember how dumb some attendees are at times.
>>
>>9338659

Unfortunately I am in Scandinavia.
>>
>>9338142
Sorry, but I unfortunately don't have any saved. I have Nozomi planned for later in the year though so I will be hunting for some eventually.
I do have the live though so failing finding any I'll try get some good screen shots to share.
Hopefully someone else can help you put though!

Also, to the Anon after the Mogyutto references. They're in the last thread which is about to drop off, so grab them whilst you can if you haven't already.
>>
I just got my Seven Lucky Gods Nico cosplay in the mail, and I'm mostly happy except for some parts that I'm going to have to reglue on. If anyone else bought this cosplay, did yours also come with the wire flowy ribbon thing? How did you guys manage to work it into the cosplay? Or did you guys just forgo it for convenience sake?
>>
>>9338045
Just think of it as a really jacked headband. Honestly I like the bonnets because they don't look like the huge infantile ones
>>
>>9339593
I only use it for photoshoots, it's a damn pain at a convention
>>
>>9339824
I bet... How did you hold yours and keep it up for the shoots?
>>

Is there anything like this for the 765 girls? I'd especially like to see all of them in their outfits from Platinum Stars.
>>
>>9340231
Seconding, even if there's no viewer even a database of Platinum Stars outfits (like the one for Im@s 2 and OFA) would be great.

>>
>>9341357
I'm the anon who knew what it was and fuck off dude. It's been 10+ years since then and its not a big deal that hagoromo isn't common place considering its a random ass Japanese word. Also it sucked, good for the new fags who didn't have to watch that trash. What was the point of you posting that.

Yes, as it's a loose design. Though your top half will affect it. If you've got narrow shoulders you might struggle with it
>>
I haven't quite warmed up to Sunshine!! or Aqours yet, but I feel like 2017 will be the year I do. Still, most of my cosplay lineup is LL, but I haven't been able to find the rest of the Sakura Watching set (I think that's what it's called). I've only been able to find Rin, Maki and Umi.

My supposed to be prestyled wig didn't end up as well styled so now I have to fix that curve Mayus hair got. Wig styling is not my strongest side, so I don't know what the best way to fix it is
>>
>>9346227
I'd suggest possibly looking at tutorials for Maki Nishikino wigs! Their hair has a similar curl going on.
>>
Question for anyone who's ordered Ascosing's Valentine's set: having black spots on the back isn't normal right?

We ordered back in November and it arrived to agent in December but it was a huge group order so it took awhile to receive. I opened it today and everything is fine but the shirt. It smells a little mildewy and has that yellow mark + the black spots so it's probably water damage but i figured I would ask
>>
>>9347738
That looks quite a bit like mold stains.
>>
>>9346557

Out of curiosity, are you gulls also attracted to cosplaying token idol characters in non idol franchises? Like Sayaka Maizono, Rise from P4, Ruri from DRRR, etc.
>>
>>9348456
Slightly. I do love Rise a lot but Sayaka didn't really grab me like some of the others.

>>9350173
I've seen premade cosplays of fanart, which I personally find weirder than just making it yourself.
Anyway, you'd have people who wouldn't recognize you as easily, but I don't think anyone would get snobby about it.
>>
>>9335886
Not sure if Vocaloid counts, but does anyone know of a database or tumblr compilation of Miku's outfits?
>>
>>9350478
You can look through the Project Diva module galleries, that covers most of them.
I'm not sure if there's a database that covers every Project Diva game, though.
>>
>>9350478
Project Diva sites should have modules and their names from every game and then you can watch videos of them too, so that's good too. Sometimes there's MMD models that people have ripped from the games if you want to get really up close and personal with details.

116KB, 512x720px
I'm absolutely loving the new upcoming Muse set. Unfortunately, you can't see my girl Hanayos top so I hope one of the upcoming cards have a similar top that I can use as reference.
I also hate that the silhouette of the skirt is clearly a circle skirt, but the gingham is straight along the hem do that inclines the skirt is just a rectangular piece
>>
>>9350834
you can gather it at the waist anon it'll look the same
>>
>>9350858
If I gather that much fabric that I need for the ruffles to wave out it will be a lot of fabric on the waist. Sure I could cartridge pleat it but it's so time consuming. I don't like having 3m fabric gathered at the waist, it gets awfully bulky
>>
>>9350878
these are some of the more simple lovelive sets I've seen why are you complaining about the time it takes to pleat a skirt? It doesn't have to be that bulky
>>

1125idolizedKotori.png
139KB, 512x720px
>>9350935
I said I could CARTRIDGE pleat the skirt if I wanted it to be less bulky in the waist. Do you know how time consuming it is to cartridge pleat?

Yes it is a simpler design, but if I want the fullness of a circle skirt at the hem, I need about 4m of fabric, and if you just garther that amount in the waist it will become very bulky that's a fact.
>>
>>9350958
Also the design looks like it's pleated and not gathered at the waist which is only possible to make that full with a circle skirt
>>
>>9350834
Unfortunately they do that a LOT with love live designs and have the pattern straight like that. I think just cut your losses and go for a circle skirt- it won't be horribly noticeable with the gingham that it isn't straight.
Also I can't believe I haven't seen these cards yet, Hanayo looks so damn cute.

>>9350962
Yeah that's why I'm bummed. If I place the part where the ginghsm aligns with the hem in the front it won't be too noticeable, but it still annoys me.

They only released Kotori, Hanayo and Umi so far. It's the best set since the devil set so far imo

If you really want someone else to join you, then post in the groups on fb. Someone is bound to bite. Or go to the LL photoshoots/gatherings at the convention.

>>9363084
holy fuck the sharpen on this photo is blinding.

>>9360494
a background that suits the cosplay is always nice. it feels more real and more natural than some idol cosplayers stuck in a park or against a plain background. if you're doing a themed outfit like kimono or cheerleaders, do it in a corresponding or location that would fit.

>>9362725
post in groups of cons that you plan on attending and ask if anyone would like to do a group with you. you can weed out applicants if you get more than one person wanting to do a character.

This group makes me so happy to see. Dreaming iris is my dream 765 pro cosplay
>>
>>9365701
My nitpick is that its obvious who has the worst skills of the group. It's easy when they're juxtaposed against really experienced cosplayers like Barri and Ichigo Kitty and more than half of them are having severe wig issues. Also Yayoi and Ritsuko didn't construct their skirts right, so the lining is flopping down and looks sort of frumpy compared to the clean lines of Ami's and Yukiho's. All easily fixable and if fixed they'd go from a 10 to a 12. Also Iori's stars are on the wrong side.

Again these are easily the nitpickiest nitpicks ever because they're all obviously very talented and cute.
>>
>>9365719

I'm confused, since it doesn't seem like anyone is having wig issues in >>9365561
>>
>>9365996
There's just little things like Iori's wig is off-center or Mami's bangs look bad. Ritsuko's wig also looks a little odd, but again, its not so in your face jarring that it really gets my goat.
>>
>>9366045
That makes sense then, if it's nitpicks like that. I just wasn't seeing the "severe wig issues"
>>
>>9366088
I MAY have exaggerated a little. Can you believe it? On the internet?
>>
>>9366103
I came here expecting severe problems with their cosplay to be pointed out, and you let me down, friend
>>
>>9365561
>>9365537
My only nitpick is that I wish more Iori cosplayers would get a lace front. The sideswept bang always look a bit odd
>>
>>9365996
Well... In my opinion all the wigs bar hibiki's and yayoi's are bad in some way. Not horrendous and definitely a nitpick, but not right either.

Ritsuko's is too dark and fluffy
Ami: it just looks really odd and not right
Mami: dat fringe
Miki: to orange toned, not flicky enough
Iori: off centre/side swept doesn't work
Yukiho: too flat and wrong colour for her

They are literally just nitpicks. Nothing horrendous whatsoever but yeah, that's what I find wrong with them

Since we are talking dreaming iris. I really want to make this cosplay but I can't choose which girl to make. I either make my best girl Hibiki or I go for Iori since she's my girl when we do groups (and she's my 2nd best girl)

Pros/cons Hibiki:
+ Best girl
+ not pink (I'm making ONE non-pink cosplay this year...)
- Need to get new wig
- Can't have her if my group suddenly wants to make these

Pros/cons Iori
+ Can have it in future possible groups
+ Already have the wig
- Only 2nd best girl
- The color difference in the pinks are not as pretty

Whenever I've seen Miki, it's always an uncut/flat wig that looks nothing like her. And for some reason usually the color is off too. It surprises me that Amis, Yayois, and Hibikis I've seen are generally styled pretty well.

What should I do shoe-wise? They're all supposed to be barefoot in the card set, but I'd rather not wear those "invisible shoes" since I'll be doing a lot of walking at a crowded con. Would it look okay if I wore flats or sandels that matched the theme?
>>
>>9367640
I think that'd be alright. Or you can do the thing where people wear flip-flops and then take them off for photoshoots.
>>
>>9367640
simple straw sandals would look alright with this set
>>
>>9366816
Pink is a shade of magenta. She isn't normally in magenta though, sorta in a weird cross breed of pink/purple that is almost impossible to find a perfect match for
>>
>>9366840
Her wig is too orange toned/dark and doesn't have the flicks in it.
>>
>>9367640
Gladiator sandals in gold or black would look good, I think. Honestly since you can't see shoes in most of the Love Live cards, people aren't very picky about shoe accuracy.

I'm so love with the Ami, I love seeing her work especially for Love Live! she is so adorable. Usually when I see Idolm@ster cosplays, the cosplayers always look so old in the face and unfit.

I do wonder why IM@S suddenly became popular in the West. It's been out for many years(even though the game wasn't in English for years) and the anime for season 1 and Cinderella being out. I guess Love Live! is the reason in a way?
>>
>>9370778
>IM@S suddenly became popular in the West
Is it?
>>
>>9370778
I don't think iM@S suddenly became popular in the west, if anything, it suddenly became popular on the east coast. There has always been some strong or semi presence of iDOLM@STER due to the cosplay group Angel Hearts which is filled with girls such as Sparkle Pipsi and Kie who are talented seamstresses and love to cosplay iDOLM@STER. I've only seen a surge of iM@S on the east coast due to the Cinderella Girls game deresute. It's still a relatively small community here on the east coast, though.

Generally it's not very popular in America as a whole franchise because it's never been localized besides the game Shiny Festa. If they put the CG game in English, they'd be a strong competitor with LoveLive! which has a large presence in America.

Currently making my seven lucky gods costume and having a doubt
Should I use regular bias tape around the cape and on the pannels to be more accurate or should I use gold trim since it's an idol's/goddess costume?
>>
>>9371774
I'm working on the same costume and I'm going for gold trim. It looks much prettier imo, since thats a goddess and idol set.
>>
Piggybacking on the Seven Lucky Gods talk, but my roommate threw away the flower waist accessory on accident while cleaning, and I'm wondering how noticeable it would be... >>
>>9374109
Not that anon, but here: https://world.taobao.com/item/532071581069.htm?fromSite=main
>>
>>9374113

Why is it annoying anon? Some people don't have the money, time, or skill to make a costume. Inb4 don't cosplay, bought costumes are leagues above what they used to be, and so affordable.

I'd rather someone buy a nice costume now than those hideous satin monsters that sold for $300 on eBay because that was the only option you had if you couldn't sew.

But I guess I shouldn't be surprised, im@s is full of some of the most elitist fans around. And then they whine and complain when things like Love Live get popular.
>>
>>9375111
Seconding. I love handmade costumes, but I simply don't have the space in my tiny apt to work on elaborate costumes. I only have enough space to make my own simple costumes and props.
>shame on me
>>
>>9375111 #
Even with platinum stars, the original girls costumes are low quality generally speaking. I'd recommend making them over buying them as I've bought a couple and they're pretty much unsalvageable.

There doesn't seem to be as big a market for 765 pro cosplayers, for some reason. Love live ones are a lot better quality.

So, I said make as buying is a waste of money. Sorry if that makes me an elitist.

>>
>>9372165
I think it's fine if you don't have it considering the taobao one is kind of a hassle to carry around a con anyways. But if you really wanted to include it you could probably just buy the fabric, cut into a decent long but wide enough strip for scrunching, and hem all sides (would be best if you had a sewing machine but if not you could hand sew or straight up fabric glue or glue gun as a last resort). Forget the wire because that's what made the taobao one a hassle lol and I think it's totally acceptable to not have the "floating" look at a con. Depending on what kind of flowers you use you could probably just glue gun as well but your friend might be able to help you out more on that since she can see the materials.

It should be hard at all to make, your friend could probably help you make it within an hour.

I'm nervous for Maki because Nico got the colour I believed she would have, while Nico would have been likely to have a pastel pink.
I hope they don't go super dark like the candy maid set or give her a colour she would never be associated with.

Can we continue the Taobao shops for (idol) cosplay talk here from the Taobao thread? I think it'd be a good reference for everyone to refer to.

Copied from the Taobao thread:

Ascos
Construction (how solid the costume is/won't fall apart): A
Fabric choice: B
Accuracy: B
Reliability: B- for preorder costumes, A for in stock
Price: $$
Construction is usually very reliable, printed fabric choice is a little lack luster (they print everything but usually on the same type of fabric; it's accurate but doesn't have dimension). They do add some nice details to unprinted fabric pieces though (their wedding Love Live cosplays were made up of two layers of fabric, the plain white printed under layer, then a fine meshed tulle layer over the top which gave it more dimension). They usually have built in petticoats in their costumes or include small petticoats to help skirts poof out. Usually any crowns in a cosplay will be made out of metal, which is good and bad (looks accurate, but much heavier than a plastic crown would be). Their preorders can take a LOT longer than they specify (waited like five months for a prop they said would be out after one month), but they're willing to keep up communication with you when you message them. If the costume is in stock, they'll ship out within a day or two.

Miaowucos:
Construction: B-
Fabric choice: A
Accuracy: A-
Reliability: C-
Price =:$$
Construction is okay, costumes are usually a little fragile but are wearable. Fabric choice is really good (they print fabric accurately and use different fabrics to print on), and they include all the little details of the outfit. they add horsehair braid when appropriate to poof out skirts. Really unreliable shipping times though; sometimes they ship immediately, another time I had to wait 3 months for an "in stock" cosplay before, no communication when I messaged.
>>
>>9394400
Uwowo
Construction: C
Fabric choice: C-
Accuracy: B-
Reliability: A
Price: $
Their fabric prints aren't all that accurate, and the fabric choice leaves much to be desired (they use the same fabric for everything). They leave out details sometimes, and don't really add anything to help dresses poof out. Their shipping is fast though, and they are slightly cheaper than ascos. Would reccommend for simple costumes, but nothing complicated/more detailed (for example, their wedding love live was pretty lack luster in quality especially when compared to ascos's wedding love live).

1/3 Delusion
Construction: A
Fabric choice: A
Accuracy: A-
Reliability: B
Price: $$$
The construction, fabric choice, and accuracy are all pretty good for newer costumes of theirs, but the older ones, like the love live kimonon ones, use the standard printed fabric. They're more expensive than the others and they tend towards more asian traditional clothing cosplays. Most of their new costumes you have to order during preorder waves (they'll have very little in stock after each wave), and they do multiple preorder waves for more popular costumes. The do push back the date for the preorders sometimes, though.

Ascos was mentioned, though the review wasn't in a template like this.
