Last one is kill.

>What is Kemono?
Generally speaking, the japanese word for "beast" but in the case of cosplay it refers to anthro or mascot costumes influenced by kawaii culture and fashion.

>What is this thread's content?
Mainly exchanging about the creation, tutorials, resources and similar.
>>
>>9329976
Made OP the way it is so people don't complain again about being unrelated.
>>
>>9329976
Last one didn't 404, it was deleted. I don't think the janitors like these threads
>>
>>9330265
That was because of all the shitposting (even normal jfash threads get deleted for that when it happens), not because of the topic itself.
>>
Okay, so this means no fucking western cartoony furry suits. I'm okay with that.
>>
>>9330306
I'm ok with both styles, western stuff really needs to lean more on the cartoony side more though because kemono def has the "realistic" cute side down pat.

Then there's the realistic looking suits which are in a class of their own and are pretty cool.

>>9330265
I dunno, janitors were deleting shitposts/drama so I think they're more or less okay with it. Then again we had a couple images go missing so maybe there's a clash of opinions happening with multiple janitors..
>>
What fabric is that? It looks so smooth
>>
It looks nice. But good going furrys I'll never see it the same way.

Satin, the whole suit is pretty much a wearable duvet.
>>
>>9330734
I dislike how satin makes those folds and shiny surface.
I do mine with fleece, easier to blend the seams and keep the mascotte feel, unfortunately its really poor at managing warmth and sweating
>>
>>9330734
that sounds excessively warm even for a mascot suit
>>
>>9330761
idk if you've ever worn one, but every mascotte or furry suit is hot as hell, no exceptions.
>>
>>9330790
This, it's suffering but it's fun. Just remember to stay hydrated and take lots of breaks.
>>
>>9330859
I love it! And grabbing some outside air is best (unless you live south..)

I can't necessarily say the same. I'm always warm on the lower half of this, but I have been cold standing outside in cooler weather on the top half.
>>
>>9330863
What fur did you use for the head/chest area? I've been looking for something just like it for a Lucario cosplay.
>>
>>9330865
those eyes are stunning! How do you see?

>>9330872
Beause the upper body isn't filled my guess. And all those scales, must have cost a lot of work.
>>
>>9330881
I'm actually debating if I am going to make mega lucario, just because this fur is so perfect.
I bought this fur http://www.stoffen-online.nl/bont-langhaar-toffee.html
Unfortunately a dutch site only.
>>
>>9330883
Yep, just a layer of felt scales, fleece and a t-shirt. Breathes fantastically, but absolutely isn't a makeshift winter coat like most peoples costumes here.
>>
>>9330891
Atleast it's easier to put extra layers on than make it cooler hah.
>>
>>9330883
And the scales, every single one cut out by hand. I don't want to know how long it took to cut them out, but there's no other way to get that look without it looking like / literally having them painted on.
>>
>>9330896
I bet, but goodjob, the pattern looks amazing!
>>
>>9330883
>those eyes are stunning! How do you see?
Car window tint, it's what most japanese makers use under printed eyes.
>>
>>9330896
I make stuffed dragons with hand cut scales. I can't imagine how long it would take for a human sized one. You've got some patience.
>>
>>9330883
Whatever you replied to was deleted...
>>
>>9331190
It was a fursuit picture without text so I guess the janitors don't like dumps.
>>
>>9331221
I've noticed weird things being deleted, things that aren't breaking any rules whatsoever and are totally innocuous
>>
Rule 3.
>>
Im not a furry and I'm not even a cosplayer, but I like lurking these threads. I find them interesting and I really enjoy seeing the different styles, especially beyond the western look.
>>
>>9331235
It's really fucking confusing
>>
>>9331190
>>9331221
That's too bad it was a cute furry
>>
Does Tashiro Yu's Chocolat suit still exist? I only ever see them wear the bunny (Mocha?) and their most recent pink cat with striped legs whose name escapes me any more.
>>
>>9331380
Not sure if he just keeps it stored somewhere else but he only has 4 at his place. Also, he never throws old suits away but sells them, just like how he did with that one giant pink robo cat that he had for a short time.
>>
>>9331551
Oh, he sold it? That explains why I haven't seen it in ages. I liked the design.
Wonder who has it now.
>>
>>9331551
Chocolat is the pink robo cat lol
>>
>>9331630
Oh, I was thinking it was the dog because of his tutorials showing that one for "chocolat".
>>
>>9331319
same, i'm really into crafting and think it'd be fun to try to make a cute head

but i'm too scared to be branded as a furry

Rule three is in regaurds to furry porn and yiffing being pushed to /b/.

The construction of mascot suits and kigurumi are costumes. And belong on cgl.
Learn the difference.

Not to mention different displays that need mascot heads and require fur work.
So get back on subject. Keep the discussion con related and post links/ tutorials for the OP when you can.

Sorry, this is the best photo I could get but, there's the suits' badge with the name and some fellow kemono suits.
>>
>>9331783
Is this Tashiro's first suit? He's come a ways since then
>>
>>9331789
I don't remember honestly. It's either Chocolat or Marie (the brown dog), who is five... six years old now? Crazy.
>>
>>9331797
His first suit is actually Tirol, she got something over 3+ versions tho, pic related was the second that he dumped 2010.
>>
>>9331819
Should note that he made the first version of Tirol in 2006.
>>
Where are the best resources or tutorials for making a fursuit for the first time?

I'm specifically interested in the Japanese style. I'm inspired by this person mostly. I specifically like the eyes and soft features of Japanese fursuits.
>>
>>9331826
http://www.furaffinity.net/user/tashiroyu/
Got a whole guidebook on how he makes his suit.
>>
>>9331819
I thought Tirol was first, but I doubted myself because of his gallery.

>>9331826
This thread is for the Japanese (Kemono) style only, so!
I'd honestly just google it, or look on FA. Some stuff is account locked though.
Youtube is a good source too.

Here's all of Tashiro's tutorial, reminder that it's three years old.
>>
>>9331829
Thank you so much for the link!
>>9331834
I thought of googling but thought someone more experienced would be able to tell the good sources from the bad. Thank you for the help!
>>
>>9331877
No problem! I wish I could help you more but kemono tutorials aren't as common as western ones! furaffinity.net/user/kemonofurs will have tutorial links by kemono makers too

But she works on another cos-suit anyways but idk what it is supposed to be.
>>
Does anyone have recommendations on what kind of foam to use/where to get supplies for building the head?
>>
>>9334881
Most just use EVA foam grade 60, some just take yoga maths with a modified version of http://toki-reatle.deviantart.com/art/Pony-Fullsuit-head-pattern-426863770 like >>9334078
>>9334406
>>
K-Line is switching to printed perforated aluminium eyes now too, probably because you have more space for the vision. The downside is that the outer pvc layer gets foggy even sooner due to the holes, that kind of eyes usually only makes sense when there is no outer layer

Don't K-Line suits already start losing visibility after about 40 minutes?
