Lets talk about larger meets and events! I'm talking a little more than your average tea party - raffles, guests, music, or anything with ticketed entry.
>Have you been to such a meet/event?
>(if applicable) How do you or your comm organise larger events (with raffles and such?
>What's the best organised event/meet you've been to?
>What's the worst organised?
>What's your dream event?

My dream event is one of Kaya's parties
Kyra?
>>9329510
Kaya, but please just continue the thread and ignore what I said
>>9329416
>Have you been to such a meet/event?
Not locally, but I've been to UtS and some TPC stuff
>(if applicable) How do you or your comm organise larger events (with raffles and such? n/a
>What's the best organised event/meet you've been to?
So far it's UtS. I don't know if it was really well organised behind the scenes but it was really enjoyable. I did find it weird that a LOT of people turned up to the afterparty in normie clothing though. I get that OTT coords are impractical and supposed to just be for fun, but I thought that people would still treat it as a fashion and maybe even just have a casual coord for later.
>What's the worst organised?
I don't know if I'd had a "bad" experience yet
>What's your dream event?
Anything with Lolita/relevant illustrators. I can't make it to Omnia Vanitas this year and I'm really sad about missing it because of Imai Kira.

>I did find it weird that a LOT of people turned up to the afterparty in normie clothing
I don't really want to be that person to bring up the eternal dispute, but I think afterparty should be treated rationally. If you are going to dance/drink it may be reasonable to wear something normie/jfash, and if you are going to chill out mostly there's no big difference and you can wear whatever you like. We leave Lolita out of sports or medical activities for same reasons of comfort, so I think it really depends on your approach to parties.
I'd love to set up a fancy event for our comm since we'd definitely get the numbers, but I have no idea where to start. Does anyone have experience of setting up a ticketed event?

Get a team of 4-7 people that you trust. They need to be reliable and habe a good work ethic.
1) determine how many tickets you likely will sell and who your target audience is
2) decide what the main point of your event will be. Star guest? Designer? A special theme?
3) set a budget
4) Find a location
5) at the same time: contact star guests and get contracts
6) plan the event minute to minute (fashion show? Q&A? Raffle? Panels? Tea Party?)
6) promote and sell tickets
7) get the rest done (donations, other sellers, food, etc)
8) be chill at the event and try to stick to the schedule, without freaking out if something goes wrong
9) go out and party once it's over

This is really, really helpful. Thank you anon!
>>9329416
where's this photo from?
>>9331021
TPC's Enchanted event, I think it was 2014?
>>9331012
you're welcome. That's pretty much how we organized 2 large brand tea parties in the past, but minus the frustration and endless hours of arguing about fucking cake.
>>9331060
Are men in suits/tophats allowed to come to these?
What a dream it would be to attend such an event.
>>9337937
Are you interested in lolita fashion itself, and not just in the girls who wear it? Does you outfit fit the criteria of boystyle, aristocrat or dandy guidelines? If yes, you are more than welcome. If you don't know what those terms mean, you should learn more about lolita fashion before you try and attend.
>>9337937
It also depends on if it's specifically a lolita event or not. There are several events that encourage not just lolita or jfash, but alternative fashions as well, such as Rufflecon. If it's a lolita fashion only event, please don't come. We're not interested in men trying to come to events they're not relevant to.
>>9338123
Man fuck you.
We put together well thought out responses to get this shit. No wonder there are fucking misandrists on this board.
>>9338123
You're disgusting, stop projecting your sexual tastes onto other people
>>9338123
ewww dude
if you are looking for fetish stuff, contact people on fetish sites/events, but stay away from fashion
Because of creeps like you men who are actually interested in the fashion have a hard time being accepted.
Can we please stop feeding the troll?
>>9338140
It's not fetish clothing, you creep. It's fashion.
And believe me, we are all uncomfortable with the connection between that book and our fashion style, but unfortunately the founders of that fashion were Japanese and not familiar with the negative implications. And thanks to that, we now have to deal with people like you.
Nice job taking the bait so enthusiastically, gulls.
>>9338123
Fuck off.
>>9338150
>tfw both an age regressor and a lolita
and i still don't agree with your stupid ass. most classic and gothic lolita in no way promotes a childlike or subservient image. i might be able to see where childishness comes in with pastel vomit sweet lolita, but i guarantee you're just shoehorning your fetish into a place it doesn't belong. please never go to a meet and subject others to this. find an ita sugar baby and leave us the hell alone.
>>9338156
Stop sucking Freud's dick for a second. Lolita and fashion in general is what you make of it. Are there influences from and references to humanity's fixation on young girls? Sure. But there are also references to history, literature, mythology, craftsmanship, etc. To say that participating in Lolita means that on some subconscious level all Lolita's are littles is misinformed overgeneralization at best. It is possible to like something and not condone 100% of what other people participating in the fashion or hobby do. Sage for getting me to take it. Hopefully other gulls can STFU now.
>>9329791
I would expect people to wear a lolita coord (or something similar) with the same value as the clothes that normies wear when they go to a bar. It's not that hard to get a 30$ easy to wash JSK.
>>9337937
SFE events (like under the sea and omnia vanitas) let you wear anything
>>9338183
Not for that anon, he's not welcome.
>>9338206
thanks for reminding me why i fucking hate men
>>9338217
Does your banter come in any other flavors because this is getting boring and repetitive. Spice this place up with something not "m'lady" flavored plz.
Does anyone have any tips for hosting a screening of Kamikaze Girls? I was thinking of trying to host a proper screening in a cinema but I wasn't sure what to do about copyrights and such. We do have a girl in the comm with a legal DVD copy of the film but it doesn't feel right to use that for a paid event (It'd have to be a paid event so we can pay the cinema, the money won't go to anyone in the comm.)
>>9339281
If you aren't making a profit then it's fine
>>9339299
We aren't, but the cinema we'll be screening in will be making money off it. It'll also be open to friends so not only members of the comm will be going.
>>9337985
>>9337937
>Are you interested in lolita fashion itself, and not just in the girls who wear it?
This is so important. There were so many guys in ugly ill fitting 'suits' at meets all around the world that clearly doesn't know much about the fashion. Total outsider and at times creepy.
This lead me to think about lesbians, as they can be in the exact same mindset as guys mentioned above, but because they're girls no one suspects a thing. Am I overthinking....?
>>9339305
I feel like legality issues is something you need to go over with the cinema manager.
>>9339281
Talk to the theatre first. They would know about what is needed. Really copyright is on them not you.
>>9339596
most women just aren't as thirsty and desperate as men, so they don't need to pretend to like something to get laid. lesbians in lolita aren't creepy because they most likely have actual interest in the fashion.
>>9339281
As long as you're not selling tickets to it it's fine.
We had meet at local pub with cinema room where you can watch movies privately and we watched Kamikaze Girls too
I went to Disneyland Lolita Day last year, and it was SUPER fun. 10/10 would go again
