Anybody have experience with wearing thermal undergarments under a coord? I'm considering getting a heattech shirt from Uniqlo to wear under a blouse so I don't have to butcher my outfits with a heavy coat.
>>
>>9312991
Of all the wacky shit AP are releasing right now, this one is the one I like the most.
>>
Why is AP the most popular brand?
Can another brand ever become more popular than AP?
>>
>>9312997
yes that's common, some people also wear thermal leggings under OTKs in winter
>>
>>9312997
I do all the time. With thermal leggings/underclothes and warm bloomers I can wear my Roland coat until it's around -10C (but I have a pretty high tolerance for cold)

If it's still too cold for you, you don't even need to buy a lolita coat. Some normie wool coats could look cute with lolita.
>>
>>9312991
What the hell am I looking at
>>
>>9313025
Baby were more popular than AP in the early-mid 00s, and Meta were the most popular in the west for a short while by virtue of being the only brand that shipped abroad. Give it another few years and another brand might take over but right now none of the other major brands are doing much original stuff.
>>
>>9313025
Agreeing with >>9313055, but also AP is way more likely to keep up on current trends and pander to whats popular at the moment. (Mermaids, crosses, space....etc.) Almost every new release they have seems to be referencing to some big current trend.
>>
>>9312997

The only issue I've had is that some places can be pretty well-heated, you won't be able to take your coat off like everyone else and will end up sweating into your burando (that, or attempt redressing yourself in the bathroom, if you can). So long as you keep an eye out not to wear heattech to those places though, you should be fine.
>>
>>9313061
I have this issue too, I don't even wear thermals, just thin long-sleeved T-shirts, but if you're layering so you can wear your coord outside without a coat or jacket you're going to sweat like a pig when you get into a café. Removable layers are key.
>>
>>9313055
Plus they release stuff more often then other brands, so theres always some kind of hype around them which really helps.
>>
>>9313029
>>9313061
>>9313064

Thanks for the advice, I hadn't considered possibly being in a well-heated area. I get cold easily and planned on wearing a blazer as outerwear, so I can remove that if I find myself getting uncomfortably warm.
>>
>>9312997
Last time I went out I wore 2 thermal shirts, blouse, jsk, knitted bolero, 2 pair of wool tights, 1 pair of 200 den tights, wool "leggings" that only goes halfway down your thighs, bloomers, Vagabond winter boots, F+F winter coat, velvet cape + fur collar, scarf wrapped around my head and neck, and a big fur stole wrapped as a scarf to top it of. It was only -6.
I wear thermal undergarments from October to March to survive.
>>
>>9313164
How the heck did you fit all that into a JSK and not look like a frumpy mess straight out of hell?
>>
>>9313164
Or you could just, y'know, use common sense and not wear lolita until the weather stops being so extreme
>>
>>9313164
I think you need to invest in warm individual pieces so you don't have pile on so much. I just got some cute ski gloves and I'm amazed how warm my hands were when it was -13c.
>>
Has anyone gotten order payment emails from the Innocent World sale yet? I placed my order right after the sale opened.
>>
>>9313187
I'm pretty sure they don't send out invoices over the weekend. I'd give it until Tuesday or Wednesday to get invoiced.
>>
>>9313187
I too ordered right away and also didn't get an invoice yet. I'm pretty sure sales time is busy for them.
>>
>>9313167
If someone looks frumpy in -6° weather, they should get a pass
>>
>>9313179
Some people don't have a wardrobe full of normie clothes
>>
>>9313179
How boring.
>>
Whenever I get tired of studying/working I always think about lolita. Hw if i study well, pass my exam, i'll probably find an ok job and be able to live by myself in a little flat that i will decorate in the cutest lifestyle-est way. Also more burando.

Remember kids, stay in school so you'll find a good job and buy more brand

looks like petplay is totally lolita now you guys
>>
>>9313064
Story of my life. I usually end up either way too hot indoors, or too cold outside, just so I don't have to be removing 3+ layers every time I enter and exit a building. As a result I just don't wear lolita in very cold weather which makes me a little sad.
>>
>>9313025
I think this >>9313069 is it. They release something new every weekend. A lot of their stuff is usable for other j-fashs.
They grew with the OTT era and kept a lot of their past costumers. They were able to adapt new trends.
>>
>>9313179
Nah lolita is actually the warmest clothes I own.
>>
>>9313313
That's silly. What set is it from?
>>
>>9313187
It can take weeks for payment emails to arrive during the sales period, that's why they tried bringing in 'Flash sales' last year to try and cope.
>>
>>9312991
I hope they reveal the dress under the cage skirt soon, it looks like it might be really nice.
>>
>>9313289
Until your realize your college degree is worthless, no one wants to hire you because you have no experience, and you have to buy all the apartment basics before you can even think about making it cute.
>>
>>9313395
This is why you volunteer for a couple of hours on the weekend while in college.

Also, finding cute things nowadays isn't hard. You can buy pastel kitchen appliances easily. Same with bathroom essentials and bedroom essentials.
>>
>>9313395
Bitter, aren't ya?
And yes, having an entry level job that doesn't pay much isn't uncommon for being fresh out of college but slowly renovating a simple apartment over time with a modest budget isn't that hard either. I know some bitches who work full time as cashiers w/o degrees who still afford that brand.

>Make pretty awesome money even for LA splitting rent with boyfriend
>Put 13% in 401k & have extra set aside every paycheck into an "emergency fund", can pay bills and still have money leftover to buy burando and buy things in other hobbies

Life is good.
>>
>>9313246
Well sure, what I meant though was, at that point, why even wear a jsk? Theres no way it looked good. Might as well just worn the clothes that made sense

>mfw have to still freelance and second job just to enjoy burando
>>
>>9313418
May I ask what your passion projects were? Even just what field they're related to?
>>
>>9313164
I'm the same way. I can't handle cold weather. I use warmers that you can stick inside your clothes to help stay warm. They're like hand warmers. I use those in addition to thermals. I found that keeping my chest and neck covered up has helped the best in staying warm. Good luck.
>>
>>9313395
I have a bachelor's and a master's, but no one wants to hire me. I'm thinking of going back for a PhD.
>>
>>9313395
That's not true, it depends on the degree you take. I just have a bachelors degree in computer science and did internships during college. I work as a software engineer and I'm earning a lot right out of college.

If you take English, fashion, art, etc, you're not going to get far unless you're lucky. But of course as another anon said, it's still possible to buy brand even when dropped out of college. I have a friend who just works retail, just a GED and manages to buy brand.

I want to learn as much as i can about lolita. What are some good starting points? Ive already lurked tons of generals and watched two movies (princess jellyfish / kamikaze girls) but i would love to get more indepth into the whole design process but cannot find good english/subtitled info that isnt just shitty sweet lolita

End goal is to design an entire outfit
>>
>>9313890
design as in make? or simply put together a coordinate? i don't really understand what you're asking for because there's a wealth of info on lolita fashion if you just looked it up. movies aren't the only sources of info that exist

Otome no sewing and G&L Bible
>>
>>9313826
Not bad. The other day it was way over -20C° here and I survived fine working outside. I just layered two collage pants. Lolita is even less a problem, I find it super comfy to wear in the winter because layering is easy and poofy skirts are so warm.

are you THE lie-on-resume-chan, or just a disciple of hers?

>>9313680
nooooooo, don't. only go for a PhD if you want to be a professor or head your own research projects if you're STEM. don't get caught in the perpetual student loop.

don't give up job searching, just re-evaluate the positions you are applying for when you feel stuck. are you still in contact with your dissertation advisers? pretty much any mentor or teacher from your grad days can be a major help networking-wise.

a lot of times the right position is gained through who you know!

Question about Royal Princess Alice: Isn't that brand and also Kokokim by Kimura U? Was Kokokim not selling well so she tried getting into lolita?

Also, what are the quality of both brands? I've heard they're both generally like taobao quality and not worth their prices, but I don't hear much about Kokokim.
>>
>>9314296
I heard she doesn't own the brands, she promotes and models for them. Kokokim has normal prices for what it is. I don't have experience with Royal princess alice. But saying something is taobao quality could mean almost anything.
>>
>>9314296
Kokokim is her brand. The prices were high, a lot of the designs were heavily inspired by other brands she modeled for, and the sizing was tiny. U is less than 5ft tall and probably is 80-60 or smaller in terms of measurement, so even though Japanese people are small, a lot of her stuff fit only girls that were junior-high sized.
She models for and does collab with RPA, but she's not the designer/owner
>>
>>9313324
>costumers
>current AP

I got this bow in my Meta LP. Anyone know what release it's from? It's really cute and the only piece in the LP that fits my aesthetic so most likely the only piece I'm going to keep so long as I can find the matching skirt/dress/whatever
>>
>>9314407
That looks like the flower print they used in 2015's Floral Garden
>>
>>9314407
>>9314430
Found the lolibrary link:
http://lolibrary.org/apparel/flower-garden-ribbon-barrette
>>
>>9314430
It is! Thankyou anon! The fabric is jacqured and really beautiful but I'm not really digging that jsk design sadly so I guess I'll sell these too. Oh well I guess I got some bloomers out of the LP!
>>
Translation help? A yahoo auctions listing wrote "丈:(背中心)80.5cm" for the length of the OP. Google translates it as "back heart". Where is this measuring from? Middle of the back? I'm worried the dress will be super short.
>>
>>9314445
What else did you get in the LP. I might be interested in buying it off of you
>>
>>9314296
RPA is designed by the manager of Kera Shop Arena Osaka. She and Kimura U are close friends, so U models for them and designs collabs. I don't own anything from them, but I've seen it in person and was not impressed with the quality.
Kokokim is decent quality, but can be hit or miss. The items I have were worth the price, but some materials I've found a bit questionable. I think Kimura U has basically abandoned the endeavor, though.
>>
>>9314696
Why do you think Kokokim didn't take off? I think she even tried to get a bunch of Western girls behind it and made it as international friendly as she probably could've. Do you think taobao was too competitive or are sweet pastel colored fans just buying AP instead?
>>
>>9314664
Center back. What OP? I assume it's referencing a seam.
>>
>>9314709
I think sizing as >>9314390 mentioned was definitely a factor. Even though many items came in two sizes, even the L was more like a typical Japanese M.
I kind of get the feeling she also just got bored with it?? Because releases just got fewer and farther between and the physical shop in 109 just silently closed. But that's completely unsubstantiated lol.
She's doing a lot of other projects right now, including some idol group thing.
>>
How does everyone here decide when it's time to let a dress go? Personally, in the past it's just been a matter of something not being my style anymore even if it was a dream dress. I only ask because now I've got 2 different dream dresses just wasting away in my closet, but I can't seem to bring myself to sell them.
>>
>>9315208
The reason I don't wear it is normally the same reason I sell it
>>
>>9314696
Thanks anon, this is the first time I learned any background info about RPA, and it explains why the brand suddenly came out of nowhere and all over KERA GLB overnight. Their bows look very basic and badly made in photos, which really annoy me when it's right next to other big lolita brands that have lots of cute details.
>>
>>9314730
thanks! it's a piece by AtPi, not sure the exact name.

Why do so many sellers on FB expect/request that the buyer cover the PP fees? It seems like the norm outside of LM, actually.
>>
Are there ever any actual bidding wars on Lacemarket? Seems like the customer base isn't big enough to get any interesting auctions going.
>>
>>9315416
It's ridiculous considering that's against the terms of use (service?) for PayPal. Sellers should just calculate the fee, tack it onto their price, and leave it at that.
>>
The wig thread seems to be 100% cosplay so I'll ask here: I'm thinking of ordering a Dreamholic wig but can't decide on the color. I'm looking for a very neutral brown - not reddish, but not too grey/blonde either. I can't decide between Maple Syrup, Chocolate and Honey Tea. Any tips? Or even better, are there any kind gulls who own a Dreamholic wig in Honey Tea / Chocolate / Maple Syrup who can take a picture of it in neutral outdoor lighting?

Currently I'm leaning towards Honey Tea because I'm eyeing two wigs that both come in that color, but I worry that it's going to turn out more dishwater blonde than brown.
>>
>>9315416
i'm always having awkward experiences with sellers these days.

>sellers expect the buyer to pay PP fees
>sellers overcharge on shipping (for example, expect one method of shipping, receive another that's cheaper)
>sellers not disclosing marks, missing buttons, etc.

what do you all do in these cases? it's really deterred me from buying secondhand from western buyers and i'm just going straight to y!a, mbok, closetchild, etc.
>>
>>9315337
Is that supposed to be Marie Antoinette inspired? It really does not look that way to me at all.
>>
On the topic of sales, sellers that don't write measurements of their clothing, or downright didn't measure it at all have pissed me off once again.

LM, FB, Y!J, you name it, there will always be some people thinking Huh can't you just work out yourself the bust waist and length from my 600 pixels tall compressed image taken in my dark bedroom?

Someone will then ask in the comments for measurements. Why not just do it in the first place like everyone else who's got common sense? Now I don't even bother with these people, they don't deserve a sale if they are so damn lazy. /rant
>>
>>9315529
I also hate when they don't provide a Lolibrary link if it is available.

I also really don't like that some big second hand sellers like Wunderwelt and Alice + Fururun don't provide the item's weight so you can't calculate shipping before ordering. If you plan on selling it anyway, why not just weight the item when you stock it?
>>
>>9315529
>>9315531
Related, pisses me off when sellers reply to people asking for measurements with "but the measurements are on lolibrary", or just link to lolibrary without bothering to check them against their own measurements. Lolibrary's/brand's own measurements are sometimes really off so it really helps to have a flat measure to check. If they seller checks it and it's the same, all they have to do is say "lolibrary's measurements match my own" rather than linking to lolibrary without mentioning whether or not they bothered to double-check.
>>
>>9315529
>>9315538
That really chaps my hide too, especially when you consider how often Lolibrary goes down.
>>
https://youtu.be/sGs4t8dnHWE
>Dear god, why
>>
>>9315529
>>9315531
Used to measure dresses myself, but stopped and now use just lolibrary

I don't want to get a PP dispute from some obeast mad my dresses don't fit her. It's hard to get exact measurements even on unshirred things
>>
>>9315572

Honey tea is darker than that picture leads you to believe. Its definitely not dishwater blonde. If you google "dreamholic honey tea" the darker looking wigs are accurate imo.

If you look at some of her AP photoshoots, the dress has been taken in at the back so it doesn't swamp her. Or it looks like pic related.
>>
>>9315741
As for what she's up to, she's doing quite well designing costumes for idols. She's been making coords for The World Standard recently.
>>
>>9315739
i feel silly making a pp dispute over the shipping issue if it's just a few dollars difference. i guess i'm more irritated about the principle of it, like why even lie? are they trying to turn a profit? the few times i've brought it up to the sellers, i either get no response or a mealy mouth answer.
>>
>>9315722
I hate replicas, but you're putting a lot of effort/thought into someone posting a shitty skirt no one will buy anyway. Report it if it makes you that upset, but who cares?
>>
>>9315753
I know I've overcharged people for shipping a few times before. It's not malicious or anything, I'm just too lazy to pack and weigh the item before it sells so I just guess at the shipping cost. I figure no one will care about a few dollars (I guess that is wrong), and it balances out the times I underestimate the cost and pay more myself.
>>
>>9315722
This hating on replica stuff annoys me; how many bodyline shoes or replica tea parties do you guys own? Pretty sure those are knock offs as well...
>>
>>9315955
But anon is talking about the possibility of a replica being passed off as brand. If something is labeled as brand, I expect it to be brand. If something is a replica it should be labeled as one. It's really shitty to pass off a replica as the real thing for a sale, no matter your stance on replicas.
>>
>>9315955
None. Not everyone is as trashy as you, anon.
>>
>>9315961

>>
>>9315968
Not that anon, but I don't own any BL either. Not sure why you think that's implausible.
>>
>>9315973
Don't get me wrong, BL has some serious crap, but a large percentage of people do have a replica of some sort. I should have been more clear, I wasn't just meaning BL, more that nothing these days is an original idea so even in normie clothes I bet people own knock offs, not just in Lolita fashion
>>
>>9315955
you're projecting really hard

just because you're a cheap poorfag who buys shoe replicas doesn't mean everybody else is too

We have an option to have a "prepaid" shipping satchel which they have three or so sizes ranging from up to 500g, 1kg and 3kg as far as I know. I usually ship using this method because its easier, cheaper sometimes and also it comes with tracking so theres no extra to pay for it.

>>
>>9315968
>Implying design replicas aren't different from print replicas

Let's take an example like mm design replicas. They're always shit looking and extremely poor quality. But if someone made a very good quality design replica or interpretation (not that I think anyone would due to time skill and cost), there likely would not be a huge issue because designs that are not artwork, even if they're unique to a fashion style, are not something that can easily be copyrighted and are considered "generic".

Hence why there's not as much of an issue with say buying bags, rocking horse shoes, tp, etc unless that product has the logo or artwork of a brand or is otherwise attempting to pass off as a brand that it is not regardless of it's from fast fashion or high street.

This discussion has been had many times you fucking faggots.

>>9315753

The word you're looking for is patent not copyright. A brand and design is always copyrighted regardless. The method of creation is never copyrighted. If you're talking about an outright replica copy of someone else work then you're essentially talking about plagiarism which is an ethical concern and has big consequences for professionals. Plagiarism and replicas are career suicide but making the same type of item is not.

I don't think you can even patent apparel. Maybe you can with the fabric creations or some fabrics are protected under national identity terms but patterns are too generic.
>>
>>9315753
Paypal takes fees on shipping too so maybe they just wanted the 'true' amount the shipping would actually cost?

You can do a partial refund if it's just a couple dollars (I'll refund it if it's over a $3 difference). I'm salty over the people who overcharge shipping by a lot then have the nerve to tack on PP fees. I paid $25 shipping for a dress that was sent in a Flat Rate medium box ($13 to ship) then the seller charged me an extra $15 in PP fees. Where the hell is my money going?

If it's a dream dress I'm not actively wearing, I'd try to find a way to use it somehow. For dresses that don't fit (in terms of sizing or style), maybe some alterations could solve that. For dresses that I love but really don't fit my style anymore, I do keep a few around to dress my mannequin with, I think the room looks happier with my dream dress on my mannequin, so I don't see anything different than buying a painting or a nice statue to decorate with.

If I can't find a use for the dress, not even as room deco, then it's probably time to do one last commemorative photoshoot, then pack the dress up and sell them off (to be fair, sometimes after the photoshoot I'd change my mind about the dress, haha). If it helps, you can tell yourself the funds will go towards something you want more (a higher priority dream dress, maybe?)

I had very bad experiences with dreamholic. I have two wigs, one is very nice (although the color was really off, their pictures are really bad at showing the real colors...). The second one is just weird. The bangs are just horrible and it feels so plastic and sticky like when hair has been styled with tons of hairspray, it's unbearable.
Then i decided to get another one to see if it was just a lone case of bad wig and reserved another one. Two months after I reserved, they announced in their facebook the wigs were available so I was waiting for my "shipping notification". Instead, a week later, they sent me a message saying the wig I reserved was sold out even though I reserved two months before...
I tried contacting them for around a week asking for a refund. I sent messages through paypal, facebook, normal email and finally got an answer when I messaged by storenvy and opened a pp claim. I really don't recommend them as a seller...
>>
>>9316456

I have their hime cut wig and its awfull! It was from when they first started out but imo thats not an excuse. The hair density (especially the hime bits on the side) was incredibly incredibly thick, but the the bangs were very thin. I had to heat style it every time I wore it so it would sit nicely, just putting it in the bag for a few hours made it all wavy and smooshed (cant think of better word) up, when it was supposed to be a pin-straight wig. It tangled and got fizzy super quickly. I can't wear it, such a waste of money.
Also the colour was inaccurate, it was meant to be a 'natural black' but its just straight up brown.

Am I insane for thinking that $20+shipping is extremely high for a pair of used socks/tights? I was browsing lacemarket and I was astounded at prices that high for used leg wear. If something is brand new with tags that's one thing, but socks you've worn? That shit should be $15 and under.

>>
>>9317687
Wrote a massive post about this but deleted it by accident. Most of the stuff about changing trends isn't that important and easy to find out for yourself desu- just stick to what you like. Oldschool got big again and AP are taking influence from larme now instead of gyaru/himegyaru, decora, fairy kei or creepy cute.

Replicas are really hated now, not tolerated like they were back then, so don't buy them. Sugary Carnival is only worth $150. Angelic Pretty have started doing repeated rounds of MTOs and re-releases for popular prints to try to combat scalpers, most infamously with Holy Lantern getting made into the Holy Hell not Again meme (can't find the pic now).

Livejournal is dead so people sell through Lacemarket and Facebook groups rather than the comm sales, and post to Closet of Frills on Facebook rather than daily-lolita. For people that don't want to post pics in a Facebook group attached to their real name, options are limited - Tumblr was the biggest platform for ages but is slowly dying, becoming less popular due to porn and ageplay blogs reblogging lolitas' stuff with lewd captions. Lookbook was a thing for a while but is no longer popular. Instagram is kind of popular and Japanese lolitas use it but loses out a bit because it's so easy for normies to find you in the tags. Amino just started but is full of itas and newbs. Lacebook was a bit of a failure.
>>

There is literally a discussion in another thread rn about how buying replica shoes makes more sense because the quality of burando is shit for the pricetag.

I don't own any replicas, but anon isn't necessarily off the mark here. Shitloads of lolitas have knockoff shoes, but use both quality and theft as reasons to justify a hatred of replica dresses.
>>
>>9316138
Yeah I really like this. Want the JSK and socks in black.
>>
>>9317757

The thing about replica PRINTS is that the print is really obvious. And with replicas there's always some detail like wrong lace, wrong placement, wrong ribbons being used, etc that makes it pretty obvious when someone is wearing a replica. I wouldn't say people are hypocrites going after print replicas and not shoe replicas, just that print replicas are much, much easier to spot and therefore it's much easier to get an internet lynch mob to go after them.

Non print replicas, on the other hand. The little differences that, in a print replica just means lack of attention to detail, now means the shoe is not 100% a copy of another shoe, especially when replica doesn't slap a fake brand logo on either. It's also really easy for someone to accidentally design shoes with similar combinations as other things that had been done before, there's only so many things you can do to pleather shoes. So it's much, much harder for people to prove that someone is wearing non-print replicas and get a proper lynch mob going after them.

What you're really seeing is the combined effect from both sides, the girls who get their pitchforks out for print replicas could be equally passionate about non print replicas, it's just a smaller effect as not everyone is convinced the non print is replicas.

The other side, the side that doesn't hate replicas, know better than to make trouble for themselves wearing print replicas, so they just quietly stock up on "taobao purses" and "Bodyline shoes". It's the one area where they know they can get away with it, so they'll freely have a discussion about it knowing that they won't get lynched as hard if they say they bought a pair of shoes not realising it's meant to copy some brand shoes.

Bodyline fans are in a whole different category. Quality not the same as burando? Time to bitch about elitist brandwhores. Mr Yan is a creep? Start petition to get a body pillow made of him. Shoes are replicas? They don't care, they really don't.

you forget that print replicas are actually illegal where shoe and basic bag "replicas" are not illegal, which is why many people dont have a problem with them
>>
>>9317840
I've seen the Holy Lantern replicas and they even go as far as having the same lace at the bottom of the dress (it was the empire jsk) - it has the Angelic Pretty printed lace and all.

It's actually not hideous, but Im not sure how I feel about that though. Is that too far? Can AP sue?
>>
>>9317886
My issue is that people shit on replica's (which is fair enough) but people often (not everyone, not calling anyone out) have those replica shoes and it seems thats fine but if its a replica dress...all up in arms and I find that hypocritical.

If you are against reproductions, then you should also be against reproduction shoes etc.

But each to their own I guess.
>>
>>9317717
Agreed about instagram, I always get quite a bit of unrelated likes and normies commenting on my things. It's a bit weird but as long as they aren't rude or lewd I don't see the point in blocking them. If it does bother you you can always set the account to private.
Also good to know is that people are debating if beautification apps count as photoshoping, pretty sure there's still a thread going about that.
>>
>>9317962
for a lot of people it's print design they get mad about

> The thing about replica PRINTS is that the print is really obvious.

I also consider many of AP and Baby's shoes to be quite unique in design, but I barely meet any lolitas who have the genuine article. They have replicas. And I know for a fact that they shit on people with replica dresses.

>>9317870

Nice bait, friend.

>>9317886

But a lot of replica shoes and bags are far from "basic". A heart or a star is one thing, circus tents, pearl beaded shells, Decoration Dream horses, etc. are another. There's a difference too between basic teaparty replicas and Milky Cross shoe replicas.

>>9317974

The size thing is literally the same excuse plus size lolitas use to justify buying Oojia replicas and get hate for it.

TL'DR I don't like replicas either, but be consistent.
>>
>>9318005
I personally don't really shit on people who wear print replicas. I think it's a little distasteful and I personally wouldn't buy a shitty ripoff with much lower quality. But brand shoes and bags aren't that great in quality compared to the Taobao or Bodyline versions. I agree with you that if it's a super unique design it's pretty shitty towards the brand but I'm not going to bother feeling bad over a heartshaped bag or something where I really can't tell what it's supposed to rip off. Of course, quality always comes first, so I'll choose brand over offbrand 90% of the time but I don't really think it's in any way morally reprehensible to buy shoes that may or may not be too similar to a pair of Baby ones.
>>

The prints are copyrighted because it's considered artwork. If you copy the design (cut, drape, shape of clothing/bags/shoes), that's just called a trend in fashion, and it's how the industry works. Clothing itself cannot be copyrighted because it has a function associated. Brands like IW and Meta wouldn't be able to exist if design alone was copyrightable because they came later than AP and Baby.

As another anon said, too, lolita brands themselves rip off designs from legit fashion brands. Baby made poor replicas of the Fluevog Elizabeth, and nobody really cares.

lol, anon. You met a bunch of hypocrites. Congrats. If you can find proof of their fake shoes and out them to cgl, you can witness some consistency firsthand as cgl hangs them up and crucifies them. Meantime, maybe direct your frustrations back at them or cut ties with them altogether instead of ranting at us when the rest of us have been pretty consistent about replicas. I haven't even met a lolita who owns replica brand shoes, there's so many cute shoes out there there's not much point to them.

Besides, gulls have tried pushing for banning non print replicas, it mostly ended up a mess. Some noob was calling Dream of Lolita's moon-cloud bag a replica because it reminded them of AP's drippy moon bag. Every shoes with criss cross strap was a replica of AP teaparties, so basically 70% of IW, Baby and AP shoes need to be banned. So many noobs simply crying replica as soon as one item pops that kind of sort of reminds them of another item they vaguely saw once and don't remember well. You'd spend way more time trying to explain how this or that is or isn't a replica, let alone try to figure out if someone was indeed wearing a replica or not, and if you have any energy left you can lynch them after that.

You're clearly new if you can't figure out how to incorporate any of the others into a decent coord.
>>
>>9318783
I'm not trying anything I'm just saying you need to get over it. Some people buy replicas and like it, some don't, some people call any replica bad, others don't care about non-print replicas.
That's how it is. Do you buy replicas or something? Is that why you're so upset? You've been writing paragraph after paragraph about the same thing, why waste so much energy on such a stupid fucking topic?
>>
>>9315572
never heard of her so I googled...what a mistake.
why is he so cheap? Milanoo dresses? really?
I guess he's pretty new but he really needs to practice planning his looks with better color relation...that fucking eye make-up omg. it's neither eye-enlarging nor aneemay, it's just the worst of both realms.

Normies will accept anything as "harajuku kawaii" and it's painful to watch.
>detachable bow on head
how could you put a sweetheart like James through such an amateur edge failure?

I hope he gets gud and focuses on his irl interests/inspiration. no queen can champion vidya, jfash, anime, AND cosplay. you'd just look like a poser.

>>9315589
has this ever happened to you? do you purposefully only list the min measurements? sounds like you sell to people with little feedback/experience.
>>
>>9318913
Best of luck!
>>
>>9318065
that happened to me this past summer. I realized it was a glitch with the english site. every time I tried to check out it would remove one item from my cart. I think I finally got around it by clearing my cart and getting to the checkout screen in another tab, adding the items I wanted, and refreshing the checkout tab so the items were loaded there.
>>
>>9318941
I'm not mad about people having replicas at all, actually. I just don't like how certain communities and individuals will bully those who have replicas of one item, but not another. It's inconsistent, and dickish. Either hate all of them, or keep your mouth shut. My problem in a nutshell.

And no, I don't wear replicas. They are just as expensive as the real thing half the time, and the prints they tend to replicate aren't my thing to start with.
>>
>>9318987
Ok
>>
>>9318358
I'd say it's small, and there's nothing wrong with small. Also depends on how many coords you can pull from it though, I'm always a believer in great variety in a wardrobe overall than having lots and lots of main pieces.

Drag queens trying lolita is the worst, they make it into a costume for their act rather than a fashion, but hey its a performance after all and you cant expect everyone to just understand what the fashion is, like you said most normies see it as just 'omg harajookoo gurl' shit ans its the same for queens. But to be honest if a queen had a character who was a lolita that could be interesting
>>
>>9319103
drag queens are so cringe, I hope they leave lolita alone. I really don't want to be associated with them.
>>
I wasn't interested in this release, because the JSK was so meh and the OPs are ususally to small for my bust.
But
>Bust: about 103cm
>Waist: about 81cm

AP USA usually gets the release about 2 weeks later, right?
>>
>>9319000
Fujiwara-san just wrote a blog post saying they had a lot of orders and are working around the clock to fulfill them all, so you're not the only one still waiting.
>>
>>9319162
Why did AP make the measurements so big for this OP? It would be like a tent!
>>
I've been trying to sell some of my dresses the past few months to no avail; they're decently priced and also popular series back then, so I was wondering if it was just the holiday season that's affecting spending. I have them on LM and FB groups, and was considering dusting off the old LJ account to use egl-comm-sales as a last ditch resort to sell them, but I was wondering if anyone had other suggestions to promote them. Thanks!
>>
The second post in this weeks secrets was removed, does anyone have it?
>>
>>9319333
You probably have to lower the price, or maybe your pictures are shit idk. Egl comm sales is where you can sometimes find nice stuff from oldfags and other than that people re-post the same they have on lacemarket. I think new lolita's don't look at egl comm sales.

Does anyone have experience with their Moitie screen printed items peeling, specifically ruins cathedral? I have a dress that's peeling in the places where the print is thin and leaving behind grey color. The dress isn't that old and hasn't been worn much but it's worrying being able to peel small portions of the print off. The grey kind of adds to the distressed aesthetics but if it starts spreading it would really affect the look.

From some of the worn pictures I found online it might be a common problem, or intentional with this dress but I can't tell for sure because the pictures aren't detailed enough.

Does anyone else have the dress and have this problem? I'm trying to decide how freaked out I should be.
>>
>>9319856
We can't actually see how it fits on her because her arms are covering most of the bust and waist.
>>
>>9319856
At that it's clearly meant to have a baggy look. No idea why everyone is freaking out.
>>
>>9319857
Would you mind posting pics? I'd be interested to see.
>>
>>9319857
This doesn't surprise me. Whenever ive seen Moitie screen printed pieces ive always thought they looked like they could peel off really easily.
>>
>>9319856
Judging from the picture in the online store, the waist looks very elastic (and possibly sack-like). The bust on the other hand doesn't, so I guess, if you're a smaller size - like the girl in that instagram pic - it will look pretty ruffled up in the back once the waist has been adjusted with the ribbon.
>>
>>9319900
I took some photos. It's hard to capture because the peeling is small but numerous. The grey is the portion where the print peeled, and I tried to fold the fabric so the peeling black print is sticking up.

>>9319963
I'm not too surprised but disappointed. I haven't heard of anyone else talking about their dress peeling, and moitie has come out with quite a lot of monochromatic screen prints. So I'm wondering if it's this color and design specifically.

I have a screen prints printed dress from 2002 and there is no peeling like this, but the design is thicker.

Has AP reduced the amount of their stock again? This series sold out shortly after release and its not particularly stunning. The last year has been amazing with all the extra stock and no bloodbaths, i really hope they continue in the same way.
>>
>>9320297
This year will be interesting for sure. Looks like they are back to a reduced stock. I can't blame them, look at how much didn't sell out until it was 50% off. Bad for burando business....
>>
>>9320348
Ugh that's what I was afraid of... It was so nice being able to wait a week or two for a paycheck and being able to purchase the dress I want. Also the sales were glorious as a consumer.
>>
>>9312991
>>9319162
I still have hope that they didn't go back. This is the first release in a long while that had some hype. Maybe the in store stock tells us more? Someone said they had 3 - 4 pieces each cut and color with that release in store. Does anybody know numbers from a last years release?
>>
>>9320367
whoops meant for >>9320297 >>9320348

>>9320297
I feared this would happen. A niche fashion can't have a brand dishing out prints every week and all of them ending up in sales.
Did any release sell out last year? Aside from the usual Misty Sky. Not even the Melty Cream Doughnut rerelease sold out. I fear they might not do any more rereleases.
>>
>>9320227
The worst case Ive seen it on myself was another popular Moitie print that was in blue on black, so no, it's not just the black on white. The whole print looked like cheap screen printed tshirt quality. It really put me off Moitie the first time I saw it, even though I like the designs.

I think a new print every week isn't doing anyone any favors, given the amount of Taobao releases available (which AP surely will know about) and other Japanese brands brands also making new things at their usual speed. Even though the Chinese market is big and there are more lolitas in the world than ever, AP has deffo shot themselves at the foot last year. I think there just isn't enough spending power to warrant AP's frequent releases.

>inb4 why don't you call UPS?

Yes I called my credit card company.
>>
>>9320554
I only received it very recently and the print was already peeling. Currently it's being stored in my closet inside out. My closet is pretty dry so I highly doubt it was me.

The package didn't look damaged either.

>>9320426
Damn. I really like the designs of moities screen prints, but I won't be getting any more if the print is this unstable.
>>
>>9320227
I have one of moities screen prints (cross and roses in black with blue print) and to me it always seemed pretty sturdy and ive handwashed it a couple times. However the amount of times ive gone to buy a whitexblack moitie print only to see the print has peeled off is crazy, its quite common as far as ive seen
>>
>>9320604

Y'all take weight bait every single time. Y u no learn?? It was so fucking obv.
Some of you gulls' security is too fragile.

"Let's put this supposed fatty in her place! All I think I have going for me is the fact I'm not obese. Must keep the value on some body types over others ASDFSFDRVGLUUURGH"
>>
>>9320882
AP is catering to size Large size lolitas and also limiting their stock to 16 per store? I think a lot of people will consider jumping ship if they keep this up. Their sizes are too big, their prints have been underwhelming, and now we have artificial bloodbaths.
>>
>>9320617
>OMG stop humblebragging. Who cares if you don't fit? Stop whining, Jesus Christ.

And then whoever says that gets called fat and to shut up. I've been here for years and nobody barely says shit to people who say brand is big, usually there is an agreement.
But in this case it's plain ridiculous.
>>
>>9320617
>"finally" making a baggy OP
The last one is new and an actual issue. AP is not IW where it has other sizes. That size L is going to have to go on all the actual cute, petite lolitas. Japanese models are already swimming in pieces or having to clip them back to fit in them.
>>
>>9319000

I'm still waiting as well. Hope they don't mind if I change the shipping address after being invoiced.
>>
>>9320999
Oversize stuff is really popular right now, not just in lolita. Just wait until the trend dies.
>>
What did you gulls end up buying during the IW sale? I got the long square neck lace jsk in bordeaux, gathered flared sailor op in navy, and a headband in bordeaux. Really want to be able to wear iw in a casual office setting in a chilled out otome kinda way.
>>
>>9319333

End of the year the japanese lolitas tend to sell stuff for cheap, which in turn affects the western market when girls find their dream dresses for less than usual on yja or something. We also just had black Friday event last month, it usually takes girls awhile to save money for their next dress.

I think the lolita market is a little over saturated atm with ap releasing prints every week, but at the same time jan and dec have been my months for finding bargains, so I'm not really surprised if sales are slower to move.

You might try promoting them on whatever social media you have. There's a possibility that some weeb following you on tumblr/insta/amimo would jump at the excuse to buy a real kawaii loli dress from you or something.
>>
>>9319162
Would so love this if it didn't say AP all over.
