As brands start to prepare their spring/summer 2017 releases - what's everyone's hopes for them? Personally I hope for less pastel releases, more so when it comes to Listen Flavor as they label themself a punk rock (lol) brand but mostly made fairy kei-ish prints this year outside of collabs.

Outside from that I'd love to see more local creators making goods that work in the fashion. Eg, this is a new set zombieunicorn is working on

TOM doesn't have them up for sale yet, but CDJapan got the new Menherachan merch recently listed for sale. You can order from there if you do not want to seek a shipping service. They are backorder so they won't ship until after the 1st.

You don't need a SS to order from LF and that with the 12st is because LF doesn't ship in general until the 1st so resellers won't get anything either.

With CD Japan do you need to pay up front or is it like a preorder where you purchase and don't need to pay until it ships?
>>
>>9290042
I mean you'll pay upfront for the product itself. Yes, they only charge for shipping once the product has arrived. They do charge the bank in Japanese yen. I'd check with your bank to make sure it will not be a problem.

Now, they 'charge' you. The actual payment sometimes will not process until after the product has well arrived. I got charged two weeks after the shirt I ordered was already sitting in my closet. They are very... trusting apparently.

I'm completely conflicted on either making a zealous purchase of a single item from LF or buying a plethora of items from Etsy. Damn.
>>
>>9291278
I would disagree. There are fantastic crafters and artists working with polymer. But there is an overwhelming amount of amateurs since the medium is easy to work with. Zombieunicorns items suffer from being very poorly made and look very amateur.

Has everyone seen the videos about Selfie obsession? (The one in Kawaii International, and Senanan's participation in a Japanese TV show).

What is your opinion?
>Do you overly edit your selfies?
>Do you think it's laughable and stupid to edit your face beyond recognition?
>Or, are you indifferent?

I personally edit them or take flattering selfies in the right angles and light. I know I'm ugly IRL, people who know me IRL know my faults so I'd just rather take pictures where I fictionally look nice for my own amusement. Right lighting and editing helps me get rid of deep set dark circles and nasolabial folds.

What about you, anons.
>>
>>9292694
I am the one who always posts the Etsy link spam. I'm responsible for >>9289387. (Mind you, this past selection was scraping the barrel.)

If people wouldn't mind, I wouldn't mind later this evening making a huge post with everything I've found and posted before. (Minus things that are sold out like the Shibari hand pins from the last thread.) It'd be stuff I've already posted before though.
>>
>>9292763
Well... since you asked. I edit my photos. I have a bone marrow defect. I have fairly complex scarring because I fight infections such as staph and impetigo constantly. I've learned foundation actually makes scars look worse so foundation/concealer is no longer part of my makeup routine. (Plus, they say cheaper brands can actually contain spores/bacteria which makes things worse.)

I have Beauty Camera and BeautyPlus on my phone. I prefer to set the default setting to 1 on Beauty Camera. That's normally enough. Sometimes I can get away with just using the healing brush on a computer program to get rid of red spots if I'm broken out. (I usually don't take pictures during a breakout though.) This app does not change facial features. It just has an airbrush effect.

Beautyplus is also really nice if I'm taking outfit or full body photos because the filters bring out colors really nice. I don't use it for face pictures because Beautyplus is an app that actually changes facial features. If anyone likes that sort of thing, Beautyplus is great for that.

I can roughly summary what was said in the whole tv segment (not only the short part posted:
The segment was about "雑原宿軍団" which refers to something along of a person that is iconic in Harajuku. It's popularity is increasing with junior high and high school girls in Harajuku that are into the yumekawaii side of things. It's not that the people are ugly and they will get asked why they edit their selfies the way they do. The answer is that "If you want to get your brand/shop popular, you have to set an unreal standard that you can't even archive yourself as it will catch the most attention" and that people see it rather as art than showing your life. While the segment was shown, fans made live tweet reactions along the lines of "I love you even more now", "I love how you make jokes about your real appearance", "I am moved by the leven of your aesthetic sense", "I think that even your real appearance looks cute" and so on, the fact that she doesnt lie about her selfies being "art" makes her more charming and gives girls hope that, even with their not so perfect looks, they can make it up in an artistic sense.

Sorry if to many ESL mistakes.

I see, well I'm glad you've found a way to cope and are looking out for your health... I think some subtle editing is best, too, or otherwise your face just ends up looking foggy with all the airbrushing. I use Meitu, and BeautyPlus and Snow for the fun effects.

>>9292817
Thank you so much for summarizing anon, I like it even more now. This is the way I interpret it too, taking selfies with so much thought behind them isn't as much a self-portrait as it is conceptual photography meant to portray an aesthetic (wow, this sounded pretentious, sorry).

Also, does anyone know what app gives you the pale/faded effect except for the red tones? Like in Kuua's pics? I've seen other girls use it too but idk what app/filter is it. (Maybe they just edit the saturation the same way...)
>>
>>9292917
I think it's the filter "Abao" it's on almost every asian editing app such as Meitu

On the subject of health, it does inspire a design for tights. Bone marrow aspiration involves the hipbone and a really large syringe. (This syringe is seriously gigantic.) Both those things work with tights. The idea was a bit grotesque though so I decided not to mention it.

He does, he often has collabs with japanese bands and brands, also the artist for Urbangarde's CD covers and most of the merch. He is very well known for trying to ruin artists when he thinks they copy his "babyart" style.

He does have a point, though. Once things become trendy and hugely popular and everyone gets into it things will start to become unoriginal and die out. Like Cult Party Kei.
Artists like Kuua have their own personal aesthetic and world and once everyone starts to emulate it, the fashion and art can start to seem diluted and unauthentic.
You have to understand he is talking about an artistic standpoint more than a fashion one. Lots of girls just want to hop on what's trendy and don't give a crap about the aesthetic and artistic concerns behind it.
>>
>>9293393
He doesn't have a point because he is a shithead that tried to force his "babyart" style everywhere into the media for commercial success and failed, that's why he is so salty.
>>
>>9293488

The closest thing he's had to drama is the Crystal Castles incident from years ago, and those times he vagues copycats. The most relevant thing he does is probably collaborating with Urbangarde and redoing some of his paintings to be portraits of the lead singer IIRC.
Calm the salt. His era ended years ago.

I've always assumed anything yami kawaii is ok here? I think chinakei elements are more common in yami kawaii styles than yume kawaii styles.
>>
>>9294773
It's the opposite and pastel=yume=/=yami
>>
>>9294889
"First of all, we should mention that both only settled for clear definitions within the past 6 months so articles before that time may be a bit wierd because authors often would confuse both for each other.

Yumekawaii (Dreamy Cute) was originally coined as umbrella term to describe everything featuring the typical girly pastel aesthetics. Lots of girls wear multiple fashion styles and mix them, therefore it made describing your style much more easier than saying “My outfit is a mix of Fairy Kei, Mahou Kei and Pastel Decora!”.

It basicly was all about the ideal dreamy pastel cuteness.

That changed when Yamikawaii (Sickly Cute) came to be - it is a wabi-sabi aesthetic focused on the imperfection and suffering behind the surface of exactly that kind of ideal but the colors are usually rather dark and only little pastel with lots of medical motifs.

After a while, the both of them would develop a ying-yang relationship, which we refer to as YCawaii, as they started to contain the rather subtle parts of each other. Just like how there is no light without darkness, Yami couldn’t exist without Yume, there are no nightmares without dreams."
>>
>>9294773
You seem to misunderstand something as yamikawaii was coined as adjective to make describing "Menhera" more simple, yamikawaii is nothing outside of "sickly cute" and when there is yami (sickness) motifs it automaticly falls under Menhera.
http://lineblog.me/ezakibisuko/archives/12337428.html

A hexagram is a neutral motifs that can be found in pretty much every jfashion these days, just like how it is common for crosses in the west so they don't belong to anything on their own, pic related would be by some cult party indie brand.

>>
>>9294754
No, it did not originate from this board or site. I'm sorry. Even if someone is new to the fashion, they can have more sense then to pick petty arguments because somebody posted something they disliked in the thread. Also, 'that RPA dress' refers to a single dress design. If they were referring to multiple dress designs, they would say 'those RPA dresses'. That's why it was petty.
>>
>>9294904
But how the hell is someone supposed to know which RPA dress? They made quite a bunch containing hexagrams already of which one is hospital themed.
>>
>>9294908
They are only referring to one dress, and it's safe to assume they mean Dark Night Hospital. It's appearance is fairly iconic and recognizable. It's the only lolita dress with hexagrams I've seen posted in these threads. (There's that one other print, but it is not RPA.) Are you ESL? Technically, context clues would be how you are "suppose to know".Unfortunately, 'context clues' is one of the hardest concepts to grasp in English.

That would be because most his art is about paraphilia which includes child abuse. It's not secret. His 'about' on his site lists 'lolicon', 'nymphet', 'pedophilia', and 'prostitots' as specific interests/themes. He also lists 'pedohysteria' as well. It's safe to say he perhaps explores the topic in his art to bring attention to it. Child trafficking is still a pretty notable industry, and Japan is rife with questionable depictions of little girls, more so then America. (Although America gave birth to the term 'prostitot'.)

I'm just saying the vibes you are getting are not accidental in the least bit.
>>
>>9298108
>he perhaps explores the topic in his art to bring attention to it
Unlikely as in Japan his works are sold in stores that sell this kind of stuff too and the fact that lots of his fans have a thing for ageplay (was a major source for drama at getoffegl years ago) doesn't make it any better.

I can't find much info about Shisyunki so I've never been for sure if she's depicting older teens and adults or young teens/children. It is a bit hard to guess the "age" of characters featured in her art. I can't say I'm super conservative considering I live in a state with extremely lax consent laws. (The age of consent where I live is 16 for residents of the state. It illegal to have sex with those under 18 who are residents of other states to try and damper sex trafficking.)

Ah, I see. That's neat to know that a different artist designs each shirt; that way if I by chance do ever see a shirt with a design I like posted here or something, I don't have to feel so bad if I decide to order it. The United States is a lot different then Japan in that I don't even think most the shirts could be imported. I could imagine the FBI would be on someone's doorstep in an instant if CBP pulled some of the shirt designs out of a package.

Ah. I can't read Japanese. All I could make sense of was the English below that, "The t-shirt which showed feeling of the girls who met puberty." I wasn't for sure because that still covers a vast range of age. It's still nothing I'd wear because it simply wouldn't go over well in America, but I feel better knowing that at least they are not purposely depicting children.
>>
>>9298509

Agreed. I was fine with it few months ago when it was all about "sick girls and mental health visibility", but then shit like >>9298356 and >>9298108 looks like they're going to use the fashion for pushing their fetish under the guise of "we're all mentally ill, stop judging my pedophilia". Very short trip from there to "shut up when I molest you, you're wearing menhera, you're mentaly ill and must like being molested".

Yeah, I'm just going to nope the fuck out, the fashion's teetering on becoming fetish central instead of the mental health thing it originally started as.
>>
Sage for off topic, but remember that Japan did not outlaw the possession of child pornography until 2014. The U.S. Department of Justice still considers Japan an international hub for the production and trafficking of child pornography as of 2013. The law banning child pornography was extremely watered down, and allowed for the depiction of children in art to continue under the guise that the characters were imaginary. Yoshihide Suga has brought up 'free speech' as an issue. Things are also complicated by issues such as enjo kosai which is seen by many as 'misbehaving teenagers', not child exploitation. Other anon was quick to point out that Trevor Brown's works are sold alongside such material, so he's not bringing attention to the issue, he is truly facilitating the issue. Information concerning this issue is easily found through a simple google search. Unfortunately, many in Japan do not share American views that drawn sexual imagery of children and teenagers is wrong.

I don't get japanese brands sometimes when it comes to the bondage stuff. They take the simplest stuff you can get for few bucks on ebay and the wonder why they don't sell for burando prices. If they would at least modify them into something more unique but this is just lazy.

I buy my collars from a pet supply. I just like simple leather spiked collars in fun colors. Your point reminds me of the '50 Shades of Grey' lover's kits that came out awhile back. Cheap bondage accessories sold at god awful prices because of the name.

I wonder if Broken Doll is actually hand creating the pieces. If that were the case, it would explain the price.

>I wonder if Broken Doll is actually hand creating the pieces. If that were the case, it would explain the price.
Don't think so because the quality between the leather accessories they sell varies a lot (like how the gag is thich and smooth while the harness is a thin wrinkly mess, both are products they sell)

I don't like editing to change my face shape, but I love editing to change lighting/smooth out skin tone/hide blemishes. It means that with only subtle editing I can look almost as good same way in pics taken with no make-up at 10pm as I do in pics taken in good lighting with full-face make-up. I tend to try on coords in the evening and take a lot of coord shots then, but I'm often too tired to put on and then remove a full face of make-up for a few pictures. In the past I used to take photos so I wouldn't forget the arrangement of items in a tester coord, but then feel too insecure to post them anywhere because I knew people would shit on the lighting and my visible acne, which meant I only posted coords from meetups. Now I just edit them to a tolerable level.

Go ahead and put your reservation. The sets are limited, and if too many are ordered, they are allowed to cancel the order. (That's what I grasp from the translation.) Reserve as soon as possible to claim your lucky pack.

I think you'll get it. All they are saying is the lucky packs are also sold in store. In the situation they check their orders at the end of the day or something, and the store inventory is not enough to fill the orders, they can cancel the transaction. I don't know when they update, but I know as far as today, nothing is open in Japan yet. Some people are just now waking up, most won't wake up for another few hours.

Sometimes it isn't what people have, but what people take. When I was put on risperdal, my weight shot from 105 to 158 in a couple of weeks. My weight dropped from 158 to just over 100 in a couple months after stopping the medication. (Depakote is also notorious for causing uncontrollable weight gain.) I'm sure some medicines for physical ailments cause the same thing. It sucks because the metabolism of the body is fucked. Not sure if that is anon's case, but I try to be understanding when health problems are involved. Sage for not being about fun Idol lucky packs.

One thing I've learned that helps overall is if you are using Chrome, turn off the location (IP?) feature. I live in an area where drug usage is pretty rampart so I don't think that should stop you from wearing them. I've never had friends or colleagues who did recreational pills comment on them adversely. The thigh highs have a huge medical cross on them so the theme is pretty obvious. Outside the hair accessories, everything I own obviously points to a medical theme. It's not like wearing it will scream, 'Xanax bars, percocets and lortabs...' I wouldn't worry about that at all.

And in case this was the confusion, 'recreational' does not just mean club drugs where I live. Pharmaceutical drugs are used as recreational drugs, and it is far more common then ecstasy.
>>
>>9312302
>ecstasy tablets don't look like that
A lot of drug related accidents in my country happen because tourists don't know what drugs look like here and take the wrong thing or too much of it
>>
>>9312319
Here we do have capsule form ecstasy because it's an easy way to package the raw crystals; I forgot about that. I was confused because I never mentioned the drug. (Plus, it's pretty rare in many areas outside the bigger cities.)
>>
>>9312319
Regular drugs in those plastic-like capsules, that are common in menhera, are hardly ever used for that kind of drug tho.
>>
>>9312330
Actually it's very common in the U.S. to package ecstasy in capsules. Of course, you take the crystals out of the capsule to use it after buying it.

This shirt is a whole 12 U.S. dollars, but the store is located in the Philippines which is a bit of a problem.

When I click the international orders, it brings this page up so I'm really uncertain how to go about ordering it.

I really should pick one to focus on so I can put all my money towards that and build a better wardrobe. I wear too many styles

Shouldn't be too hard considering that Katie made a whole collection like that.

Take what I say with a grain of salt, but I'm reading the petite dollies blog now and it says crew neck t-shirts are really common. Practically every brand stocks crew neck printed t-shirts. It seems the only thing you'll be missing out on is the printed leg wear, but welovecolor has plain tights in a variety of colors to match. CherryCheezy does have made-to-order female (babydoll, not unisex) t-shirts. Ghostdesu on Redbubble also stocks a menhera-themed babydoll t-shirt. It'd actually be easy with accessories since I'm understanding that larme is about very few accessories while remaining ornate? There's plenty of cute accessories released that utilize pearl beads or come in choker styles.

Slight update, they do ship international direct. You just gotta' private message them on Instagram or Facebook with the specific order, complete name and address, and phone number so they can give you the shipping cost and finalize the order.

Oh I see. That wasn't the one I was looking at or even noticed. Now I'm kind of wondering what the heck happened? This is the shirt I originally noticed on fymenhera. It's not expert drawing skills, but it isn't whatever the hell you posted.
>>
>>9313268
That's not appropriate for larme either
>>
>>9312330
My point is that you only know if it's common or not common in your own area. When you go to a different country/state/city it may be packaged differently, could have a total different colour or people may prefer to take it in a different way or different amounts.
>>
>>9313270
Did you not read 'take it with a grain of salt'. I don't do larme.

Other anon made a good point, we don't need to derail the thread and argue with people, especially about off topic subjects. I'm guilty too, but let's drop the drugs.

>tl;dr - List of authentic distributors of Listen Flavor!
Hey guys. So, um, I was looking at the recent post about knockoffs. I know Rakuten is the official store, and I know Harajuku Hearts is a licensed U.S. distributor. I assume TOM is as well. CDJapan is also a licensed distributor, right? I read about some replicas even come with 'original' tags, and I'd really like to make sure I am buying from a site selling the legit product. Can we get a list of all the authentic distributors for clarification? What about Tokyo Rebel (USD) and Dreamy Bows (Euro)? There's also 'global-listenflavor' which I'm pretty sure is a very elaborate knock off site mirroring the real site.

>There's also 'global-listenflavor' which I'm pretty sure is a very elaborate knock off site mirroring the real site.
That's the domain of LF's official international shop located at http://listenflavor.jugemcart.com/ which they don't use anymore. There is nothing like a list of official distributors because most don't have a wholesale contract with LF and only buy their goods like a normal customer and add a markup.
>>
It's not like the knockoffs were hard to recognise to begin with, they always use own model pictures as they don't come in all colors and always have details wrong. The pentragram bunny replica's ribbons are the wrong color (bright pink instead of white), its white lacking the yellowness and the sleeve print being way too big. Meanwhile Secrets Unveiled lacks its mesh.
>>

>Meanwhile Secrets Unveiled lacks its mesh.
While having all other details wrong too with having zippers across it, lmissing the red parts, stripes all over the sleeves, etc.

I went ahead and sent Listen Flavor's site an inquiry about it. I am just curious if the Menhera-chan hoodie I posted is a knock off. It seems legit, but I want to make sure before making further purchases. I'm sure they'll laugh at the terrible Japanese, I tried making the question simple so it wouldn't be too weird, but god knows what I sent in reality. I put the same question in English below it. Hopefully the Japanese isn't completely off the wall. Thank you for info!

By the way anon, I was just a little shocked when I opened the thread, saw what you posted, and thought, "What? I don't remember suggesting that... thing." I was only listing what few shirts I've seen offered in something other then a unisex sizing. I did not mean to sound so short in this post:

Anyone have opinions on hair? I have a mohawk. I like to put it up when I normally go out, but I feel like it doesn't suit menhera or gurokawa. Maybe when it's down and in a bun? I love my wigs, but, yknow, they get uncomfortable.
>>9306916
I'm in love with the far right ones.
>>
>>9313631
I think it would look better spiked up. I'm not sure how a mohawk would look in a bun. I've never seen one in a bun. The majority of girls wear their hair down or in twin tails from what I've seen. I'd just do it. If you got the rest of the outfit down then it'd look alright. It's just not a hairstyle you regularly see in cute styles of Japanese fashion. I say spike it!

Is this thread done, or did I sage when I did not mean to?

sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but i've never ordered off of cdjapan so i was wondering if it says that the lf lucky bag is on backorder, would i still definitely get it if i order it?? i just don't want to order it and then end up having to get a refund and all through cdjapan... is cdjapan even legit? thanks for any help that i receive in advance!
>>
>>9313750
I don't know what backorder means but they are a trustworthy shop
>>
>>9313750
I will say that upon second inspection of my Menhera-chan hoodie I received from CDJapan, there are printing errors on the back where the logo is. The white parts of the image ghosted (there's a "clear" barely distinguishable double print effect). I may have just been unlucky to get a misprint, and I believe they are a good shop... I sent in a inquiry to make sure though.
>>
I wouldn't worry at all about the back order, though. Anything on back order that I've purchased has arrived!
>>
Also, since the thread is saging and it doesn't matter, I'm not sure if the clear offset double print is a printing error... it may be on purpose and just not visible in the stock photos since it's "clear" ink.

Here's a picture though. It's hard to photograph clear ink.
>>
>>9313771
thanks for all of your input!! i was about to order it, but then i saw that shipping was going to be 4200 yen so i decided that i might go with ordering from tokyo otaku mode instead because it should come out cheaper even with the shipping. it says that it's in stock there, so hopefully it will all go okay!
>>
>>9313777
also, i would think that it's a printing error, but you can never really be sure with the stock photos and everything and the ink being so light, so it's good that you sent in an inquiry imo
>>
>>9313799
If it's authentic and just an error, I have no issue with the item. It's a very minor flaw so I have no interest in returning it for being 'inferior' or anything, but I'd like to make sure the error is not because it wasn't manufactured by Listen Flavor. That's my main concern. Oh no problem with the info! I hope you get good finds in your lucky pack.
