Old one is dead. Starting off with a small dump. Anybody working on anything?
>Posts myself because still proud
>Ends with actual best Junkrat
Tfw would make a good Mei (same bodytype) but she's your least favourite character
>bandwagon friend "is gonna cosplay her" (never cosplays what she says she will)
>like her even less because friend is very two faced
Mei is cute I won't deny but I get such eeeeeeeeh vibes whenever i even think about it
Thanks for starting one of these, I was just thinking that there hasn't been one in a while. I'm currently working on mei and mercy, going to have the latter finished by the end of this year and mei in the springtime. Love your junkrat, as always
How many Ghoul skin Ana cosplayers are out there? I just got everything lined up to get it done. I look forward to shenanigans.
I would recommend getting a speaker. I'm having to do that for my Nevermore Reaper and for my other halves wasteland Ana.
Thanks, I'm actually in the middle of sculpting out the guns. I'm planning on casting them in a foam so i can toss them around.
i did a genji , i know i´m way to thick\fat
that detail aside , what do you think?
first time pepakura-ing , and my head is wider that what the original file was meant for
from the side looks fine .
the pose didnt helpead and the neck was twisted , thats the only pic i have because that was the dressing zone i made em take that picture to see how to put everything in its place
thank you, i guess? you know i´m a man , right?
>asks for opinions
>starts making excuses when someone says it looks bad
It looks bad anon. Just really sloppy in general. The armor looks thin and lumpy, especially around the chest and all the straps showing really kills the overall look. And I agree about >>9283178 and the ill-fitting bodysuit. It definitely has some potential and you can definitely clean it up. Genji has a really clean and fluid design in general so it's definitely not easy to pull off. It ain't terrible for babby's first project but you have a long way to go.
apparently this is a fem McCree. It got featured on the ART of Cosplay page but it's so god damn lazy I couldn't even tell it was meant to be him.
>Genji's always been a loose fuse
I want to do either Halloween Sweater 76 or w.e the christmas skin is if it's not too difficult (I'm a complete noob at making anything).
Trying to source a decent non-China visor and it's been pretty hard; I want something I can wear my glasses under but all the stuff I've seen so far is face-hugging. Any advice would be cool
I don't have the skills to make a Mei costume and I don't want to be one of those awful tank top and leggings Mei. I thought it might be interesting to cosplay her in traditional Chinese wear. I know hanfu aren't worn anymore but I think it could be cute. I thought a qipao might be more appropriate but they're not as elegant imo.
What do y'all think?
>not me but pic related
Badly drawn on my phone, but like this? I think it'll be really unique.
I think it'd be a good idea!
It's really easy to get into hanfu, and even in a cute, costumey way.
This one is from my Lolita dress.
An overwatch cosplay would be fun. Who to do though? I'm a guy but I basically have Mei's hair (bangs/sideburns, minus the bun.) Same glasses too. Kind of tempted to try a Mei Genderbend just for shits and giggles. I"m not really sure how to go about a genderbend mei though. There's not a whole lot of art on it from what I can find. I've wanted to do a decent cosplay for quite some time now. I've done a few casual ones in the past
>Karkat (Homestuck) Back in high school with some friends. We were all trolls. Damn grey skin paint, haha!
>Itaru (Stein's Gate) Going to a maid cafe as him was fun. Even got a pic with all the maids.
>Sasori (Have everything but the damn sandals.)
Hi there again. I also wanna make D.Va's MEKA but planning to make it moving and possible to seat in. Have a few ideas but not sure how to do it right.
I'd planned to make MEKA with worbla around usual chair and then place the construction on someting.
1. place MEKA on two electirc skateboards, but the max weight on every skateboard is around 100kg, not sure about MEKA's weight (my own is ~45kg). and I'm not sure how to
synchronize two skateboards with each other and make the constructon stable.
2. Programme an Arduino/Rasberry Pi system for moving. That solves the synchronization issue but usual robotic system,s for non-professionals are not for such a big weight.
3. Put an electic motor for motor boats or bicycles in it. I'm afraid it would be too big and hard to control. And once again, stable and safe to use.
I'm not planning to create any special interactions, just moving like a usual remote control car toy.
Will be glad to hear ur comments esp. if any of u are into robotics.
im into both homestuck and overwatch but surprisingly i havent seen a crossover between the two and i know a bunch if people who like both
not that i actually want to see crossovers tbqhwyfamalam
Am I the only one who thinks this looks bad...?
Yes I know, that's why I included the describtion, otherwise it seems pretty unfair
But still, the colors are pretty off, and Sombras purple starts about halfway down her hair, not like an inch from her scalp.
I dunno, maybe I'm just bothered by that face she's making, or how white she is
I don't say it because MUH POC or anything, I just think it looks bad
Taken from Bad Cosplay thread
Zenyatta at Holiday Matsuri Iron Robot Challenge
Would soldier 76 with a plush gremlin DVA in a baby carrier be too memey? I'm in shape so the cringe is minimal
found a photo of someone cosplaying mei's new legendary skin
Someone already finished Sombra's Christmas skin too. For a "FIRST!! 11!! !" it actually looks pretty well done.
I'm five feet tall my dude. Hard to not look like a midget.
Dumping some from the meet/shoot this past Saturday at Holiday Matsuri. There was a staggering amount of people there.
And last one for now because if I did every character I'd spam the whole thread
yeah but elongating the legs would have helped. they look super stubby in that pic and it's easy to trick the camera with certain poses! i think it's a great cosplay and wasn't trying to insult, just a tip.
I love when cosplayers post the side by sides so you can compare exactly how they don't look like what they're cosplaying. Seriously, why would you post it when your cosplay isn't even accurate?
When I saw Gladzy post this photo, I was flat out astounded she would considering the skirt is wrapped the wrong direction. Why would you expose yourself like that?
>I love rockabilly cosplays
>no I was talking about the fanart
Haha sorry. Guess I posted this in the wrong board and tried to play along with it when people started replying. Silly me.
Here have a Reapuppy instead.
Almost have my wasteland Ana done.
Any suggestions for wig styling for a genderbent Hanzo?
If I had the upper body to pull it off I'd just do a regular cosplay but I'm noodly.
Was thinking just a regular ponytail, maybe with Hime bangs or something?
Just imitate the default skin as closely as possible. In all honesty, the only thing you really need to change for a genderbent Hanzo is covering the exposed chest and not glueing down the facial hair. (Protip: wear a sarashi.) The character design is flexible enough that your frame and face will make it obvious that it's a genderbend, without having to modify the design.
I honestly didnt plan on chanhing much aside from the chest wrapping and the shoes. His hairstyle is just... around the face it's very masculine, so I was trying to figure out something for the bangs that would be almost just as recognizable, but still clearly feminine. I guess hime bangs could just end up turning me into a moe uguu shrine maiden archer uwu though.
I guess I can play around with it a bit when I actually get tbe wig, it'll be a short ponytail regardless of what I do with the front of it. I'll almost definitely post here for opinions before I go out of the house in it anyway.
Progress coming in on my Ghoul Ana. Bought my speaker and amp setup, so people can actually hear me. My friend that's building it is currently working out how to keep it accurate in looks and proportions, housing the lights for the eyes and mouth and the battery, while having it fit on my big head. Said it should be done within 2 weeks, then it's time to work on the rifle.
I should be debuting this at an anime con in Omaha, NE in February, barring that, Naka Kon in Kansas City.
I wish I could read this/navigate the site, this suit looks great.
Yah I was the anon that suggested cospicky. Been wanting this suit for awhile and would much rather buy it from taobao. Anyone got a good guide on how to buy? Or a thread here where I can ask? I know you use sites likes dotdotbuy and stuff but idk how to find the kg to calculate shipping
I feel this.
Cons comming up quick and I still can't decide...Thinking about doing oni Genji since it won't show my face and the baggy clothes won't show my girlish physic
she's not fat buddy, sorry you're so insecure you have to project your fatty feelies onto her.
Different anon, but I see where they're coming from. The feet look too puffy where Sombra's toe-shoes are very form fitting. Like they're filled with foam or something.
Idk about that. I can imagine wearing some simple flats inside the suit to give it that shape but Im very sure the cosplay's felt look like that because she's wearing some sort of bulky shoes under her suit.
Still best D.Va.
Haven't seen a better one yet.
One more for the d.va army. Well, I'm not happy with the suit being so plain so I was thinking on working with it as a base. The problem is that I don't know if the material would handle the sewing...Any recommendations? (Sorry for the bad english)
Ok, so I'm a girl trying to crossplay Hanzo and I've searched just about EVERYWHERE possible and I can't seem to find a tutorial to bind and conceal so I can cosplay him properly. I've tried makeup to conceal my nipple but I don't know where else to really go after that. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to conceal the fact that you're binding your chest while partially topless? I mean I could always pull the material up a bit more if that's all I can really do.
Workin on genji here. This was the hard part the arm and leg armor will be fairly simple. The helmet is done btw just don't have a pic of it.
I think you mean no good cosplays
from this past weekend at ikkicon
What? If you're crossplaying, you can't just have your boob hang out just cause Hanzo has his out. No, not because it's a sexist thing, but it's a logical archer thing. OK HISTORY LESSON TIME. Buckle up, buck-a-roos.
So in 13th century Japan, in non city states, but like in the bush lands and mountains, women were allowed to go with men on hunting trips. Usually it was to watch over the men, like a good mother hen, but sometimes if the troop was small, and they need more hunters, women learned how to handle the swords, spears and sometimes arrows and bows. Also unlike city states, women in the field did not wear 50 layers of silk kimonos. They just wore potato sacks just like the men and worked all day. Nobody in the rural lands gave a fuck. They DID however give a fuck when the women got preggo. Meaning, where there were little to no breasts before, they were now enlarge, engrossed, and sensitive. AKA they GOT IN THE WAY. And what the fuck is archery? It's using your chest muscles and upper arm strength to pull back a strong string and being able to hold up an arrow for a long period of time without it waviering it's line of sight. You're trying to keep your arrow up and straight, and all of a sudden there's this big lump that jiggles that hinders your ability to aim at something properly. So what did they do? The binded them with wraps. They squished down the ta ta so they could get their proper stance back. It's why between like 1450-1600ish, birth rates outside big cities in Japan were a lot lower and had big gaps. Women didn't want to have big boobs, cause after you have the baby, your breasts don't go down to normal size for months, and men were annoyed that they lost their hunting party numbers even after the baby has stopped breast feeding. They tried to have as many kids as possible the first time, so they wouldn't have to worry about it later.
tl;dr- If you're crossplaying Hanzo, wrap up your boob. Don't let it hang out just cause. Gawd.
We finally managed to finish our Ana. Bar a few tweaks with fitting and minor details I think it came out good.
Sweet, I'll keep an eye out then.
I got the costume in, needs some tweaks and some mods. I'll eventually replace pieces here and there with better pieces.
How come when people do "fem/girl" versions of characters it automatically means "dress as much of a slut as you can that doesn't even resemble the character"? Fuck, the laziness... it pisses me off.
Because you get more attention and followers that way. Wich leads to selling more prints, getting sponsored or gettinf free costumes or other shit that equals money
It's shitty, but it's kinda what the cosplay community has been turned into because of people like Jessica Nigri and Yayahan who sexualize everything
You can spend moths on a costume, but someone with a storebought costume showing threir cleavage is still gonna get more likes then you.
Just bandage it.
If it feels odd, bloody the bandages.
Just don't wrap them super tight (like, don't try to bind your chest with them) because you can snap your ribs.
Exactly like who is this supposed to be?
This makeup is so damn heavy for Mercy
hey guys I'm working on a zenyatta cosplay and I've never done a cosplay where it's more armor than fabric... would it be feasible to just get a zentai suit, and attach the armor over that? How do people normally do robotic cosplays like zen and genji?
Can't really find any useful tutorials, so figured I'd ask here.
I main Hanzo and would love to cosplay him, but I'm 4'11" and a girl. I'm considering going a genderbent, but I just feel like I can't do him justice because I'm so small. Is there any idea on how to go about this without feeling ridiculous wearing him?
4'11" girl here. I say fuck it, just make everything fit you properly and with good photography, you can still look awesome without being tall. And if you miss the mark on "badass", you'll at least look cute. Everyone likes cute, small girls.
Out of foam. Break the entire thing up into basic geometric shapes. You have a big rectangle at the back, a handle, and two longer rectangles with a PVC pipe between them.
After that, start adding little foam bits that make it look more like the gun it's supposed to resemble.
Then you fill cracks and sand.
Then you paint it.
And then it's a fucking gun.
It's harder than it sounds but it's easier than you're making it out to be.
Do you think you could post some photos and review it? I want to get one as a gift but my main fear is that it won't breathe (I live in a very hot place) and that the blue is too dark. I'm thinking of tearing out the blue and copying the pattern on a lighter blue 4 way stretch fabric. It can be in the taobao thread since that's probably more fitting.
just to add a small correction to this, you aren't using your chest, you are using your back.
the covering was to stop the string from catching on anything as it's going forward, which you can imagine would be painful
personally i'll play a game if i want to cosplay someone before i cosplay them. even if i'm not good i also at least spend a good portion of my time playing said character (if the game allows), even as a main in hopes i'll get good, before i cosplay them too, because i know people will want to talk about the game. not everyone is like that i guess but it just seems right to me.
i get some people can't play games due to not having a ps4 or a well working pc or something though.
Imo the point of cosplay is to show your love for the fandom, and if you don't play you're not really a fan. You don't have to be good, but I definitely do judge people who cosplay solely on character looks and don't know anything else about the character besides entry-level memes.
>want to cosplay casual d.va because I love her but don't want to wear a bodysuit
>afraid of rude pro-gamers because I don't know every single detail of the game
happened to me when I was wearing LoL Lulu (actualy cosplay), is the overwatch fandom the same?
there's nothing to really know about Overwatch though, I think games that are exclusively multiplayer don't really matter if you don't play the game but like the designs. If you don't play games at all then that's deeply casual and you're just going to embarrass yourself but if there's a game that's and exclusive to a console you don't have but you love a design from it (Japanese games are especially guilty) then I don't see a problem.
but games like League and Overwatch have nice designs and you don't have to play the character to understand them seeing as they're pretty 1-dimensional
If thread isn't kill, I plan on going to a con as a MV-261 Orca technician (the large aircraft you spawn in when playing Control)
The cosplay will be black coveralls, an Overwatch hat, an Overwatch patch and nametag (with the job on the nametag "Overwatch Mechanic"), a tool belt, and a pipe wrench.
Should I add anything else?
i currently don't have any good photos of it (yet), but the blue is slightly darker than what you'd assume in-game. i personally don't mind that, i think it looks good, but i know that's not everyone's cup of tea.
as for breathability, i'm not going to lie; getting into it is a pain the ass (i needed two people), and it gets very hot in there very quickly (which is concerning because i'll be going to a con in australian heat in this).
other than that, it's made really well (though ascosing fucked up the armour bits but it's an easy fix), and really good quality.
No ones gonna check these?
I have a convention in early March and want to do an Overwatch cosplay, and i'm low on actual skills to "make" anything, so should I just take the boring way and buy a jacket for 76 and do him,
or buy the visor and wig and do a kind of funny, casual "dad 76" cosplay?
After seeing a bad widow at a local con this weekend my roommates and I were talking about which hero is hardest to cosplay. They aren't really cosplayers so they immediately said Reinhardt but I argued that widow is the hardest.
>bodysuit that may be impossible irl, i don't have a lot of stretch fabric experience but it has to have structure up top and on the neckline at the same time being seamless and asscrack-fitting below
>body paint which is harder than appears
>structured ponytail wig
What do you guys think the most difficult is? Mercy comes in second for me.
I've seen a lot more widows than Reins. I don't see what's so hard about a Mercy, the wings aren't too bad.
What's it with this cancerous board and auto-rotating fucking images. What magic do I need to work for images to upload in the same way it is on my computer..
There's like only one not-shit Widow though.
I said Mercy because of the front breast-plate thing. I guess you could worbla it but it still needs to be shaped pretty perfectly and like with Pharah you have to be ant-waisted enough to look proportioned in the costume.
hey guys, i wanna make a Zarya summer skin cosplay (see pic). I'm an actual weightlifter so when i saw this i got excited, haha.
I'm just wondering about the wig? Because the look in the game is- ah, you know, like the seperated strands? do you guys think i should try and go for that look or just leave it more natural/don't do a lot of styling except getting it in a ponytail?
Not a single one of them look even remotely ok
>no Bastion cosplay
I get this is one of those sort of cosplays you can do tremendously tongue-in-cheek (Buff tanned man dressed in a sports top with the words BEEP BOOP on it, and camo cargo shorts, with a stuffed cockatiel on his shoulder, a giant sports bottle labelled 'all the POTGs' and a big giant Bastion helmet, going around flexing a bunch and photobombing Genji cosplayer pics) but I would like to see an honest effort one.
Anime girls don't usually have plate armor that is one single almost seamless piece. I just hate clunkiness like >>9321161 no matter how good the individual pieces look and I realize it's uncommon to have proportions crazy enough to make up for the extra thickness added by costume armor (even if form fitting) but it isn't impossible.
>tfw still tempted to make it without the rush of trying to crank it out before halloween
that's my hangup, though, would it be weird to cosplay the halloween or christmas designs after the holiday has passed?
hell yeah more zarya cosplays with muscles. do you mean the separated strands for her ponytail? it depends on how you style the rest of the wig, imho. you could easily do a ponytail with some layers and volume and leave it more natural, or you could try to copy each section like the model is. im tempted to lean more towards the direction of leaving it more natural, though
I think the trick with Mercy is using the black+white to give the silhoutte. Like, there's a chubby girl who looks completely different in her photo from the front than in video, because the black part gives the illusion of her waist being much smaller than it is.
Requesting some good Tracers, she's one of my favorites and >>9286069 is the only really good one I've seen so far.
I like this one a lot!
This one is really good too given the inherent problems with making an accurate Rein suit.
I don't think it matters either way as long as the rest of the costume fits whatever
im in the middle of making a mercy cosplay, but im a bit hung up on the part of her collar that goes over the back of her hair but also looks skintight. any recommendations for what material would look best for that?
Not the same one as pic related, but, there was one at PAX, he was to scale as well
And here's the one from PAX, I felt AWFUL for the guy, it was hotter than hell outside, in the bright sunlight. He took the top half off and he was drenched with sweat, people at the shoot were giving him shit for taking it off when not everyone got photos taken.
I saw someone on Instagram make it like a neck corset with boning up the back. I'm thinking about trying that and also using a little sintra for the under the chin part and sprit gumming it to the underside of my chin
Look who got featured on the Overwatch Facebook page.
Does anyone know what the style of jacket is called that Junker/Scavenger D.VA is wearing? Or how the kind of collar is called?
The construction of this rein has been, imo one of the most polished. I cannot get over the "weathering" though. From far away it looks unfinished, this would be perfect if they didn't weather every edge on the dang thing.
