Serious question: What is a good Yume no Tobira outfit supposed to look like? Especially interested on opinions towards the main dress itself.

I went throught alot of pictures of selfmade and bought costumes and felt like these costumes almost always look tacky as hell. Bought ones tend to use lots of cheap costume-ish satin while many selfmade ones look like they're made of old bed sheets.

Where does the original fall to? Is it supposed to be more shiny (therefore good quality satin a legit choice) or rather dull like polyester or cotton?

Just made two big imahes for my reviews. I included the links to everything but let me know if they're incorrect/sold out/don't work since I'm just grabbing them straight off my Buynosaur sheet.

First off, Buynosaur really came through for me this time. I've used them for my past 4-5 orders and have had things go missing in the past but they've always refunded me for it and I know they've had staffing issues so I let them get away with more than I would bigger services like TaobaoRing or Yoybuy. Buynosaur gave me a massive shipping discount and sent my items in a much faster method so I got them around a week or so. The bulk of my order were nanchatte skirts for casual wear and I wasn't impressed at all. I may be ruined for school skirts because I'm used to Bodyline's heavy fabrics but these were thin and weightless and while they weren't see through, they were just too thin a material for me and came with a LOT of hanging threads I had to trim off. My nanchatte bag is the third one I've owned from this shop but the first that came with some stray threads and a tiny spot of burned material on the handle straps. However, I do like that it comes with a reinforced flap for the bottom to keep its shape that can be pulled up to flatten the entire bag. The base wig quite thick and the fibres are soft. It's a bit more shiny than the stock photo suggests not awfully shiny though. As well as it's not that red, the color has a cool undertone to it. The buns have small combs to clip them in, but they sometimes don't hold well. I had one fall off without noticing it, luckily a friend noticed or else I would have lost it. I recommend securing them with a additional bobby pin or hair pin.
Overall I love it, it's worth the price.

First time taobao user here. I used SpreeNow and there aren't any fees which I'd consider "hidden" fees. However the total costs for ordering stuff there are pretty high too. Costs you should plan into your calculation: 15RMB for each domestic shipping, 10% comission/service fee on your order, international shipping fee, 3% fee on using paypal and a noticeably worse curency conversion with paypal. Package is on its way now, but I fear we have to pay custom fees too since it's marked down to 190$ and therefore over the limit for 0% custom fees. The 19% VAT need to be pay anyway.

So yeah. Taobao seems pretty cheap at first, but when stuff bulks up, your wallet's gonna bleed horribly.

Obviously this is past the size/weight of going undetected through customs. At around 5kg is the upper limit of when customs starts stopping packages, sometimes even 3-4kg gets stopped and checked. It's not like there is a way to be certain if you will get hit with customs fees and searched boxes but you can almost guarantee it with the large and heavy boxes (4kg+)

They just shipped out one of my packages. Their website has some weird kinks sometimes, but their service has been great in terms of refunding you for shipping and taking free photos. The 5% fee really can't be beat.

Apparently if you choose EMS, it will end up at GDSK because EMS seems to always get caught by customs. GDSK doesn't have the right for the sort of Verzollung that DHL does or some bullshit, but at least you'll get the option to choose Selbstverzollung. GDSK is contractor for a couple of shipment companies and in charge for the paperwork and processing of packages from its partners, where EMS China/Hongkong fall to. However since they don't have the authority to deliver uncustomed packages, they are (legally!) required to send you a letter and inform you about your shipment. If you are stupid enough to sign the letter, then you are charged a flat 25€ for paperwork handling. That's why you should chose "Selbstverzollung". Also oftentimes they seem to hide the fact that you can choose to fill out the customs paperwork yourself by using Selbstverzollung. Just tell them, you are chosing Selbstverzollung, fill out the paperwork on the Zoll hompage (not GDSK!) and send it to Frankfurt to the main customs facility.

DHL is doing that all by themself and have the authority to deliver uncustomed packages which is why you can pay customs at your door.
