Cons are inherently social events.There are lots of opportunities to talk to people if you're not anxious or awkward. Some cons even have speed dating. I'd assume there are more opportunities at the dances/raves/etc, but since I don't go to those events I don't really know.

The raves are not really a good place to meet people. Most of the time people are drunk/high out of their minds there and won't recall much of what you spoke about the next day. You're better off meeting people via all the other ways you listed there.

Also the speed dating category is pretty meh. They always have more guys than girls (needing to recruit random girls from the crowd at times) and the success rate is slim. You'd be better off just taking your chances talking to someone randomly, you never know what could happen. Had my first at a con five year ago. I got drunk at an after party and woke up in some guy's hotel room. I'm lesbian and when I figured out what happened I freaked and called security.
