Pitch me ideas.

Buy at least 15 sewing machines and random assortments of fabric then go to cons doing "how to sew a cosplay" panel but go the extra step in giving my attendees the fabric and machines and the space to actually try out the techniques in front of me and I can give tips along the way.

The panel would focus on doing one whole item such as a pair of pants or a uniform blazer and of course the attendee would take the item home. I'd also invest in an HD camera so I can film the lecture and put on Youtube.

The class would tour around cons in my state and each session we would make a different item of the same character's outfit so that if you go to enough sessions in a row you will be able to make a finished cosplay all yourself.

Once the panel gets enough traction I'd start having the convention give me space to set up a mini studio at con where I can set up shop, give advice and let people use my machines if they're doing last minute cosplay stuff and would rather work there instead of their hotel rooms. I would also be able to make "house calls" to rooms of clients but I would always have someone with me as well.

From there I'd move onto doing wig tutorials and if the panels picked up enough traction then I'd invite the cosplay guest over and they can demonstrate and share their techniques as everyone will make items together with them giving people another way to connect with the cosplay elite.

If I've learned anything about cosfame, it's less about skill (unless it's armor, and even then you can get away with shitty armor if you have lots of it) and more about pandering directly to lonely neckbeards. Might as well have a nice body, collection of wigs and makeup, and some lingerie to get going. Then you set up the patreon with special backer-only shoots, and you're set. No need to actually cosplay for the ~*cosfamous*~

He has an X-carve, roughly $1500.

His vaccuform table is self-made but with kit pieces; prob about $500.

His 1960s Clausing mill is worth about $8000 on the market.

He has a rotocaster; they cost a couple hundred to make.

A decent table saw will be at least $300.

A full-sized lathe will be a $2000-$3000; a mini one between $300-$500. His is vintage and I have no idea what it goes for.

He won his 40W Hobby Laser lasercutter from Full Spectrum Laser but it's worth $2400 (and from his review it sounded pretty fucking cheaply made, so you'll probably want a better one at more cost.)

A stationary band saw starts at around $300 and goes up to about $1000.

I believe he still outsources his 3D printing and chroming, so no worries about that.

I feel like there's only two ways a guy to become cosplay famous:
I could invest most of the money into a lathe, 3D printer, and other tools to make really really high quality props. Maybe my "thing" could be to make yt vids to show others how to make easy/good looking props.
Or I could I invest it into HRT and hope I make a cute trap.
Really wouldn't want to do the latter.

You CAN become cosfamous pandering to the female crowd exactly the same way girls pander to neckbeards. But even neckbeards won't pay attention to some modest ugly chick cosplaying from some boring show they have no interest in, even if it's better than whatever junk they're currently fapping to. You, too, have to be equally willing toss out your dignity and cosplay fujoshit flavour of the month instead of whining that whatever you're cosplaying from is better than fujoshit. Do that, and I guarantee you'll have the fujoshit all over you the same way neckbeards fawn all over sexy female cosplayers. Probably worse, because females tend not to have it drilled in them not to sexually harass males.
