daily reminder not to to put white under your waterline

this is mostly a problem within cosplay but i've seen it in lolita too. it looks tacky and lolita deserves better

Does anyone have any tips on making sure your make up is "soft" and not too sexy? I like upper and lower fake eyelashes, but I worry that it looks too sharp, heavy and sexy on my face when I'm trying to go for cute.

make sure you're using softer looking lashes on your bottom lashline

only apply bottom lashes to the outside corner, cut them in half if you need to. focus your mascara on the upper, outer lashes to create a cute droopy look

go for puppy-eye (slightly downward pointed) eyeliner if it suits your face. be careful because many people execute this poorly. when done well it is cute

always be sure you aren't going too heavyhanded with eyeliner. you're already using a lot of lash so too much eyeline would lean towards sexy and manufactured, less soft and cute

avoid noticeable contouring (this is a given anyway), especially with the cheekbones

Tips on red lipstick that is still sweet and lolita? I want to wear red as it goes with my coord, but I'm afraid of it being too bold. I'm guessing go super natural with the rest of the face to tone it down?

is there red in your coord? note if it's warm or cool toned, because it'll help you find a similar color

if matching reds doesn't matter to you, know what undertones your skin has and pick the red that best compliments this. there are videos about undertones if you don't know yours

lighthanded on the eye makeup, i am old fashioned in that i choose eyes or lips. but if the coordinate is gothic you may be able to get away with dark eyes

make sure you do your red lip right and conceal feathering edges/avoid overdrawing too much. i know there is an overdrawing the cupids bow trend right now but it looks a mess in most cases

Great tips, thanks! I'm definitely going to go light and sweet on the eyes and cheeks so that the red lips are the main focal point. And yes, there is red in my shoes and accessories, I'll see if the lipsticks I have match.
