lilLilly just released some cute jackets, I'd post pix but I'm on my phone. Check their Instagram.

Why are fishnets so "in" right now? What happened??
>>
>>9227660
Oh ahah for some reason I thought it ws some time in November but I guess that's when the next issue comes out. I wonder if they'll do more contests in the future.

I'm thinking of practicing my translation skills on Larme mags, right now the only issues i have a hard copy of are 5 and 21 so I'm going to start with hair and makeup tutorials in those issues, would anyone be interested in that? Personally I have a hard time understanding hair tuts even in English so I was hoping that translating them would be helpful for those of us who aren't great with styling.

This is the only fishnet look posted here that I haven't liked. To each their own, I guess.

Larme seems to have a habit of taking trends which people might consider too tacky or outrageous and making them sweet. I always thought leopard print and fishnets were totally streetwalker-y, but partly thanks to larme I'm coming round. I still don't like OTT prints or regular fishnet tights, but soft and sheer prints are nice, and knee-high fishnets/micronets/whale nets give something a bit quirky and different, which is what larme's about for me. Plus, they make these things look very sweet and refined imo.

I see people in Tokyo wearing their jackets like this all the time. I tried it and basically you just don't move your arms at all and pray the slightest breeze doesn't blow it off your shoulders.
>>

>>
>>9230265
A lot of the tags on IG suck desu. If you look at the Liz Lisa one for example it's filled with random resellers or hungry efame weeaboos using the tag for attention (a lot of times the photo doesn't even include one Liz Lisa item). I understand the complaint, but I don't see why you'd expect the larme one to be special and exclusive to what you define as acceptable content.
Esp bc Swankiss and Liz Lisa items can be used in larme kei coordinates if styled the right way. Not everything has to look like an ehyphen catalog.

What tag are you searching? The #larmekei tag is only used by foreigners. I much prefer the #larme tag, which also includes a lot of Japanese girls. You'll get some French stuff here and there but it's mostly been taken over by the magazine.
>>
>>9230450

>>
>>9230450
I actually rarely use IG tags to find relevant content.
>>
>>9230458
I hope you're >>9230393 anon because otherwise I'm confused as to why you're bitching about the tags then.

If I've got my anons mixed up then never mind. I get it. I find that looking through suggested users of people I already follow is much better for finding new igs. But sometimes I'll look through the tags and I've found the #larmekei tag to be a crapshoot.
>>
>>9230468
I am, sorry I didn't clarify. I actually...really don't try too hard to find new accounts so that's why I usually don't search the tags.

How many accounts do you guys follow? I'm just over 200 right now but a decent chunk of that is shop staff/brand/model-type accounts and I'm happy with it.

I've found, in general, that searching any Jfash with the kei suffix renders terrible results as plopping kei on the end of every type of Jfashion is a mostly Westerner convention, thus that's what you usually wind up seeing in these tags, a lot of poorly conceived coords. I'm still amazed lolita didn't wind up being lolita-kei in this part of the world.
>>
>>9228975

More coords with short hair please~
>>
>>9234996
I don't think the -kei suffix started until semi-recently. When lolita became popular in the west, the only other "-kei" was "Visual Kei", which was more of a music genre than a unified fashion community.

I didn't see -kei be used until "Fairy-Kei" became a thing in mid 2009.

diff anon, I for one isn't a fan of her face or her trying too hard dolly expressions. Despite this I do respect the fact that she is a fashion icon to a degree. Sometimes people want to voice their opinion, and they don't always mean complete negative.
>>
Can any other girl look dolly besides risa? Dont get me wrong i like risa but it always revolves around her. Rich parents, big eyes promoting that "look". I get it.
>>
I think many girls look dolly not just risa (she has become maybe the biggest larme icon/sweet dolly girl "idol" though). Imo many japanese models have quite "dolly look" and from larme for example maria kurotaki, maihee and monaca are very dolly too. i even think that popteen model nicole has more dolly face than risa but her style is quite different. Imo risa has slighly more unique features than some models though and her sense of style appeals to many? in everyday life I often see girls who could look very cute and fit larme style great but they have chosen completely different style for themselves. Imo right kind if "styling" still plays the biggest role but it is probably easier to appear "doll like" by larme standards if you naturally look similar to the models they use.

i am a risa fan but one thing makes me curious: her eye shape looks quite different in her old modeling pictures. the difference is not always so clear but in old katie modeling for example. now her eyes are rounder and even bigger! it can be just tape but once i saw some rumours about a surgery. i admire her style and looks anyway but i am still curious!

Bonbon recently released the leopard-print skirt pictured, and I found an off-brand one that looks pretty similar. I bought this without even knowing about the Bonbon one, and the quality is good.

Do you mind buying through a shopping service or would you rather buy direct? TOM is the easier for swankiss and lizlisa but will be much overpriced.
>>
>>9245009
For TOM versus the official webstore in terms of price, it really depends on your currency and whether you get the free shipping or not. Plus if you have a 10% discount coupon or something like that, TOM can almost definitely be cheaper overall (all fees included) than buying the item at retail price from the store + shipping to most countries overseas. It just seems more expensive at first glance.

>>
>>9245420
The MILK bags for sure, IW not so much. The gingham shoes are pretty nice, the red heels will make a good staple, I'm neutral about the black heels, and the heart heels aren't bad, but they don't look easy to coordinate. The leather skirt is a nice concept, but it being bodycon is less than ideal. I don't see the black dress working very well, the jeans are nice, and I think the necklace would suit the aesthetic you're going for.

Outfit idea: Get a ruffle-y white off-the-shoulder top and wear it with the jeans, necklace, gingham shoes and red milk bag.

Question for anyone who orders from eHyphen -

Are the measurements listed for small and medium sizes maximum measurements or unstretched? Are their measurements accurate?

There are two dresses I'm looking at and for one dress I'm an S for sure, but the other dress has a very small (under 30 inch) bust. I'm better suited to a small though in all the other measurements for it and I think the medium would be too long on me.

It's more about posting things from the group in order to snark on them. There was a big stink about it a while ago and the mods put the group on private and tried to delete "inactive" members and even considered shutting the group down to make a whole new one. Because of course that would stop people on cgl from getting access to the group right?

Now I think most of us just want to avoid the whole drama from happening again so we're more cautious. I don't think anyone wants the Larme community to turn in the lolita one. There are still some outfits in the group that make me scratch my head, but overall I've seen the quality get better over time, even from girls I once deemed lost causes. Pleasantly surprised.
>>
>>9247033
I've never bought anything from Bonbon myself, but most brands use unstretched measurements for their clothing. I went into their store when I was in Tokyo, and it's definitely one of the smaller-running brands around. I'm a western medium/large, so most brands are like "Hm, maybe I'll find something" whereas Bonbon was like "Hahaha, no"
>>
>>9247303
I fully agree. I really like that the western Larme community is trying to be more mature and not turn this into another Gyaru/Lolita. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion but I'm glad we're not going insanely nitpicky or making a bunch of strict substyles.
>>
>>9247477
I think it helps that fewer people seem to be thirsty for e-fame in larme (which is weird for a Jfashion). While some infamous people from other fashions have tried larme, they're not really prominent members of the community or don't get much recognition compared to lolita.

And overall larme is just a less flashy fashion, which probably lends itself to being generally low key and limits how crazy arguments can get.
>>
>>9247477
I saw the comm going in that direction for a time, especially with the substyles thing. I'm glad people have backed off on that. Sure people might say they're going for an "urban goth" look or something like in the latest magazine, but I think people are starting to realize that they're just popular looks at the moment and not specific styles.

Personally I can definitely get nitpicky, but the problems happen when comments stop being constructive and get malicious. We've definitely had our share of that in past threads.

I do like, however, that everyone is pretty nice here to anyone who posts in the thread looking for specific critique.
>>
>>9247483
I've noticed that those sorts of people who come into Larme looking for that instant e-fame tend to leave pretty quickly.

I wonder if that has something to do with the fact that you can't simply layer a bunch of brand and have people fawn all over you. I'm specifically thinking of the girls who buy a bunch of swankiss and don't know how to coordinate. While truly unique Lolita coords do take a level of creativity and inate fashion sense, a typical outfit can be put together pretty easily. Throw on a big wig, a ton of accessories, and take a decent picture and you're good.

Personally I feel like that's a bit more difficult to do in Larme, unless you buy everything from a staff coordinate and wear it exactly the same way. I've never seen anyone do that, come to think of it. I don't think it would be received well. Unique coordination seems to be valued in the Larme community, even when using brand items.

Larme is also more similar to "normal" fashion than other jfashions. The trends in Larme change at a much faster rate, to the point where there are a lot of things from older issues that already seen dated. I think it's a hard concept for someone coming from a fashion like Lolita where the basic silhouette is mostly the same and it's things like prints that are the changing trends. (this is probably why I personally find it so hard to recommend "Larme staples" whenever someone asks about it every few threads here since my answer would always be changing)

Now I'm simply rambling, sorry. I also don't want any Lolitas to view this as me saying they can't wear Larme. My big point is that you have to be actually dedicated to the style and researching it and adapting to its changes, and the people just thirsting for e fame are not going to put in that work.
>>
>>9247505
I agree with everything you've said. I enjoy both larme and lolita and that they both take a different kind of mindset.
I feel like I am always behind on trends though. By the time I realize something is trendy it's already on its way out lol. I need to start being a little more attentive.
>>
>>9247310
Thanks anon! I'm used to lolita where the listed measurements are typically much larger. It's also surprising that Bonbon's measurements seem to vary so much from item to item.

If it's unstretched then the S should be okay since the waist has elastic and the fabric around the bust is gathered. The dress is actually this one >>9223921 and I'm afraid the M would be too long. I guess I'll take a chance and sell it if it doesn't fit.
>>
>>9247627
Yeah, trend forecasting can be difficult. For example, the recent leopard print trend could be seen in brands a few months before it really showed up in Larme, so if you're going by the magazine then you might just see the tail end of a trend.

If I were you I would stick to lasting trends. Think things like pink and black or lace up detailing. These have stayed pretty consistent. Not that that can't change--Pom poms were once the big thing and now, while they're still present, they're much more subtle. Things like velvet will always come back in style around fall and winter.

Trends that may not last are things like the leopard print. I also don't know how long the wide leg pant trend will last, and I'm still debating if the lingerie inspired stuff will stick around for the long haul.

ugh this is why I say I have trouble naming Larme basics.
>>
>>9247505

Being mind though Larme brands aren't cheap for pieces you can pick up off-brand cheaper. Most girls especially students who like Japanese fashion and are in college/school probably struggle with money already. Unless you are well in your 20s, have a job and more money coming in elsewhere its probably easier to afford the branded stuff.

I buy from Larme brands, I work two jobs, run an online store and even still it isn't cheap. Thats before I have paid my bills aha.
>>
>>9247303

I dont see the Larme community becoming that way though to be fair. People seem nicer and a bit more supportive more than anything. Yeah some of the outfits are not so great and some are. But at least people are getting along a bit better compared to the Lolita one which is toxic to a t.
>>
>>9248097
In sorry, but I really don't understand how what you're saying relates to my point re: e fame hungry girls.

>>9248103
We've definitely had our moments but on the whole it isn't bad. i don't mind a little bit of snark--this is cgl after all--but when a community gets completely bogged down in drama it's just off putting.

Not everyone can afford brand and Larme doesnt always require brand to fit the bill. Whereas Lolita you NEED brand to look the part. Larme has less pressure but then again I dont see any competitiveness in the community... it isn't really a competitive style. Its flexible.

Ok? I don't disagree with that. What I was saying is that some of the e fame hungry types we've seen try Larme went out and got a bunch of brand but had no clue how to style themselves so they just ended up looking like a mess. Brand can't carry you to fame like it can in Lolita.

Again I don't disagree with your point, but it seemed to come out of left field. Did you think I was trying to say brand is superior?

It's not even just fast fashion stores, I work in a big high end department store and pointed this out to a co-worker. Seriously, leopard print is EVERYWHERE right now, Larme trends don't even take that long to hit westerner mainstream shopping anymore, although at this point I wonder if it's Japan street fashion influencing westerner fashion or the other way around. Has anyone here ordered brand replicas off taobao? what are your experiences with the quality?
>>
this is sort of larme http://www.dollskill.com/lazy-oaf-x-disney-aristocats-sheer-frilly-tee.html
>>
If you really admire some brand please don`t buy replicas of their products... It is ok to buy something slightly similar from another cheaper brand (like getting something from Zara or forever21 that reminds you of a certain piece by a j-fashion brand) but buying replicas is bad for the actual brand. You can`t say "I love this brand!" if you actually buy replicas of their products because by doing that you are basically helping to steal from the original brand. You can find lots of brand stuff from sale or second hand with prices that are close to cheaper chain stores and quality is better than the replicas`.
>>
>>9253875
>>9255402

I'll be honest here, as someone who owns both brand items and taobao knockoffs from the same brands, the quality is usually extremely similar or downright the same.
>>
>>9255402
I see your point but buying second hand isn't that much cheaper. There isn't a lot on the western market and the prices on Japanese resale websites are usually batshit, just lots of people selling worn items at store prices, wtf.
>>
>>9255434
>>9255453

Yeah, I guess it depends on your view and moral so of course I can`t prevent anyone from buying fakes and no one can. I agree that certain brands that make their clothes in China are a little overpriced but as someone who has studied design I am strongly against fakes. If I can`t afford something I just don`t buy it or look for an alternative item (that is not a 100% copy or so called "replica") because I try to respect the original brand and designers. I just don`t want to support that industry and if I like some designer I want to support her/him/them and not be one of those who steal from him/her/them by buying the fakes.

I sometimes feel that people in western community are just used to really cheap prices in chain stores which makes some brands feel too expensive. As I said I agree that some brands are overpriced for the quality but there are also some that are made with better materials which makes the products more expensive.

I have found some second hand brand clothes with tags still attached for 30-70% less than the original price and imo that has been a nice deal. If the original price is closer to 20 000 yen it can still feel expensive compared to H&M, Zara etc. but not so if you think about the normal price. Some people might try to sell some worn off stuff expensive which sucks but it is good to read the info carefully and check the images (if there is only one blurry one it can be risky).

Maybe the best option could be to make a knock off yourself because making only one for your personal use inspired by something doesn`t wouldn`t feel too bad for the original brand. But it takes skills, some money and time too... Tricky!
>>
>>9255402
Larme is a style where I don't think the brand/replica debate matters. If you have a decent grasp on the trends, you can make a decent wardrobe from the current on trend stuff from Forever 21. Considering Larme is a style heavily reliant on following trends, and they change fast, most overseas people who like Larme won't be able to keep up.

The same thing happened with Gyaru. Many people not in Japan just used whatever they could find at the mall.

And it's not like Larme is print and design heavy like Lolita is, where a replica is legitimate theft.

That's all fine and dandy in the ideal world where every piece of Asian brand fits the average western body but for myself personally, whilst I can afford brand and get it when I can, my use of non brand is at times is more of a sizing issue, I'm 5'9", with a foot size that is one size bigger than most Asian sizes stop at. Don't act high and mighty and try to turn this into some kind of lolita brand crazy fashion.
>>
>>9256148
yes while I'm 5'9 too but not a fatfuck so most brands fit me really well

for shoes I get it lol
>>
>>9256148
I am sorry, I wasn`t trying to be elitist and I didn`t mean you must wear brand to wear to be Larme style.

My point was that I personally feel uncomfortable when people buy fakes (no matter if its is a fake from a j-fashion brand or some high fashion brand like Chanel) and I hope that people wouldn`t support that industry although there is nothing I can do and it is "none of my business". I didn`t say you can`t dress in Larme style while using non-brand items, I think that is fine! Many girls who have great Larme inspired style wear mostly non-branded clothes from western shops together with some thrifted clothes.

I agree that you can find clothes that work with the style perfectly from the local mall and just use some creativity with them. Nothing wrong with that! So please don`t take my words wrong, I wasn`t saying you should wear only brand. I was only telling my opinion about fake items or so called replicas and how they are hurting the original brands.

>>9256148

Agreed, different anon here and you are being realistic. I am slim myself but it is harder for other girls who are into Jfash who can't fit into the clothes being they're too tall or have more weight on. Its a bit... harder? Notice how half the girls who are into Liz Lisa ect are always skinny little things? You have to be small and petite to fit the mould. But I get asian bodies are obviously just smaller. Then again not all of them are because I have seen some chunky Japanese girls. They're not all magical and kawaii skinny desu.
>>
>>9256148

I do hope larme doesnt turn into the "buh buh its not branddddded" situation because its so annoying with gyaru and lolita when that attitude comes in play.

Lets be real: NOT ALL GIRLS CAN AFFORD TO SPEND OVER $100 ON A SWEATER WITH A BIT OF LACE OR A BOW ATTACHED TO IT JUST BECAUSE RISA NAKAMURA WORE IT AND IT WAS SHOWN IN THE MAGAZINE

Hi, I wanted to ask if VERY short hair styles could possibly work for Larme? As in, natural colors, paired with the appropriate makeup, accessories and styling. Something like how this person has their hair: https://www.instagram.com/_lindseysadler_/ I haven't really seen any examples of full Larme styling for very short hair, so I was wondering if you had any!
>>
I am confused how this conversation turned into "not all people can afford or fit into brand"? We can talk about that too but that was not my personal point in the beginning (just to make this clear the last time). I can`t fit into all brand myself either while I am a normal sized western girl. My "buying brand vs. replicas/knock offs" had originally nothing to do with this other stuff and I wasn`t saying "you must wear only brand to be Larme!".

There is not only one way to be part of this fashion style and wearing brand is not the only option. I do own some brand but I also wear lots of "regular" stuff bought from forever21, H&m, Zara etc. and I like to mix these all together.

Nobody here this far has said it all has to be brand? I would guess everyone who likes Larme magazine understands that the brands are rather pricey so many people can`t afford them regularly. In the beginning I was just saying that if I can`t afford something instead of going for a replica (which might be as tiny as the original brand item anyway) I rather buy something slightly similar but not a knock-off.

Imo Larme community seems very accepting and encouraging this far!
>>
>>9257633
Nah, I got what you were saying anon.
>>
>>9257614
I hate to say it, but it doesn't exist.

There are very few, if none at all, options for people with hair that isn't chin - bra strap length, straight, and with bangs and hime bits. I'm lost for hairstyles too because my hair is bum length, curly and I don't suit a fringe.

The creator of the magazine is really fucking into bangs and traditionally feminine styles that only really suit asians.

I don't have any tips for short hair anon, but I think tying your hair back with a ribbon or hairband like this works nice for long hair without bangs! It's what I usually do, and I think it'd look really cute with curly hair.
>>
>>9257633
Yeah I'm not sure where the brand vs offbrand debate came into play here. I think people just have a knee jerk reaction to brand talk.

I'm personally not bothered by replicas. Like I said here >>9255434 I own many myself and I also own many brand items. I probably wouldn't buy any more brand than I already do if replicas didn't exist. I've bought some original items that do have replicas, and I've also bought some replicas because I simply cannot find the original item.

Most replicas also fall under "design replicas," unlike prints or patterns that Lolitas get annoyed with. I'm not sure how much that changes the legality side of things.

I hope this doesn't become a huge debate like it has in the Lolita comm. I know that most people don't care about the brand a offbrand debate, but once you throw in replicas the whole thing becomes a possible contest between both sides. (Not that I'm saying this will, everyone has been pretty civil itt)
>>
>>9257614
I do think it could work, even if I haven't seen it. Maybe try working with a beret or something?
>>
>>9257614
I have no examples but I think that sort of hair is really cute. If you use hair accessories like small bows, headbands, it could help the look to be girlier.

The bag is cute but ive had it for almost a year now and have not found an appropriate situation to use it. It's too big for daily wear, and since I got it in white im too paranoid to take it with me on trips. It's just been sitting on my shelf.

Any thoughts on these larme face masks? Risa makes it look cute as fuck of course but....

They're pretty cute for face masks. I understand it's an Asian cultural thing to wear them though, and anywhere else in the world people would probably think you are eccentric or dangerous. At least larme has a lot of cool motifs that would look potentially cool on face masks e.g. lacing, small ruffles, hearts,

Lol last year I had really awful flu and my japanese friend forced me to wear one whenever I was around him, went into a shop with it on by accident and got so many weird looks. There's a massive chinese population my city too, so it's not even that uncommon to see someone wearing one.

pfffft, the paranoiacs aren't everyone. You're doing people a favor by wearing a facemask when you have a cold. If anyone makes a snide remark, tell them that you're helping prevent the spread of a bug and that they should be thankful for that.

I might buy some and wear them when i'm sick and/or feeling self conscious. They're kinda cool looking.

I really want the Onespo bag, but I've never ordered something with as shopping service before, and the site says sold out ):
>>
>>9259931
I think they're supposed to restock it? They sold out reasonably quickly after the release. But you don't need a shopping service, just a forwarding service.

But otherwise your next best bet is with 109net shop. Apparently they started disallowing forwarding service addresses again so you'd need a shopping service.

I saw all the mask designs online and somehow they could be even cuter? With Larme theme I would expect something a little more because the collaboration could have potential for very cute masks. I feel you. I missed out last year by a couple days bc I wasn't paying attention for both the one Spo webstore and 109 release.
The best advice I can give is to follow the brands you're interested in on social media, especially Twitter and IG if they have it bc they often announce the release ahead of time.

I agree with others you probably have to keep posting your things and be patient. Liking other similar style pictures can help people to find you.

I think the number of likes and comments is more important than followers. Sometimes I see people with 10 000 followers but still their pictures get "only" a few hundred likes and no comments. It feels pointless to have thousands of followers if hardly anyone reacts to your stuff. When I have checked followers of accounts like this sometimes I also noticed that they sometimes have many "ghost followers" whose accounts look just fake, only stock pictures, no post at all or maybe a random picture of a butterfly and a puppy or something. I wonder if these followers are some kind of spam accounts or paid followers in some cases... But yeah I´d say quality over quantity!

You need a niche. In this day and age on Instagram or any social media you need that thing that makes you stand out. So on your Instagram, Larme I would pick a particular style you like within the fashion and work with that. Post frequently, good quality and post other things other than your face. Be flexible, engage with others and tag brands ect ect you have to go on it 24/7.

Its like Saramari for e.g she has money imo and she buys fuck tons of brand. The girl goes to Tokyo here and there in weeks then buys Japanese brands then uses the pieces to create Larme styles. But she while she's tagging those brands in her posts on Instagram she's also catering to the weeb things like Sailor Moon, buying off other Instagrammer's brands and tagging them where they'll use her buys in their feed and that means more notice/likes/followers.

Have a blog to help you too or maybe Youtube if you're into that.

But to be fair if you really want followers and to get a boost in the Larme field, the Japanese will ignore followers without a doubt. Unless you're half or cute as shit they don't seem to care. So just concentrate on probably buying otaku things like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, anime related things and Larme items. Make your feed cute and keep it tied in with your persona.

It works.

You might also want to apply for a couple of jobs too just to afford half these brands. They don't come cheap either. Start off with some off brand but GOOD pieces and not total rubbish. Copy some similar ones from the magazine and then move on to brands when you start getting a bit of notice. Which ever.

I have a good handful of Japanese followers and I don't even post that much. But of course they only really like stuff, they don't engage with foreigners due to the language barrier. I think most of those follows are from following Japanese accounts and tagging Japanese brands.

Insta anon If you really want "popularity" make your profile pic as cute as possible and make sure it fits the style of your posts and comment to a whole bunch of the popular Larme Instas like saramari. You'll probably get some click throughs.

It will take work. Saramari has an edge over others because she's been into Larme for forever.

If you can't get it from 109net, be sure to watch for secondhand sales. Not sure what communities you're a part of but I'm confident that someone will be selling pieces of it.

Sara used to be into Gyaru actually and only up until around a year and half ago did she get into Larme when that was first taking off. Her outfits back then were not as well put as they are now but more brands have better pieces and I think she moved house ect got a better set up.

She has shit tons of money though. Not hating by all means fair play to the girl. But its quite obvious she comes from some wealthy family and earns quite a bit despite being a health coach.

If you want to be on the top of any fashion in general you NEED money. It gets you anywhere.

But the thing is with foreigners getting into Japanese fashion is that... I dont think many Japanese are that bothered unless you look a certain way feature wise and body wise plus having cash to afford pieces and understanding the language. Have any foreigners been in Larme magazine yet? My money is on Sara trying to get into the magazine. I know she desperately wants Risa to notice her. Risa probably doesnt give a crap who buys Bon Bon clothing or imitates her style. She knows she's pretty much the queen of that style anyway and is set for life.
>>
>>9261498
I know that chieko/chloe modeled for Rosemarie seior but idk if it got into the magazine.
I think to get in the magazine you need to already have a modeling career in place unless you just win one of the contests or whatever. So yeah even if Risa does follow Saramari that's not a one way ticket to Nippon Rarumu stardom or anything.

But I don't think that should even be the goal lol. Just post outfits you like to your social media and try to attract like minded ppl. If you want attention/likes/follows then tags like "selca" "ootd" "kawaii" "自撮" "larme" should get you around 30+ or so likes if your pic is cute and HQ. If you want more than that you need to start finding an agent....

Sara Mari has been into Larme longer than that I have followed her blog for years and her first Larme themed posts appeared in summer 2014, over two years ago. Before that her style was already going to sweeter direction so maybe she was reading the magazine for a while before the posts. Tbh she was the first girl in the western community I remember talking about Larme back then and many people and myself found out about the magazine after reading her blog. Maybe some others also read Larme back then but I never saw people mentioning it much.

She has money to buy brand but is it so weird as she has a full-time job? I work part-time but if I worked full-time I would easily have about 200-500€ extra to spend every month if I eat cheap and cut out some extra activities. In smaller cities living is cheaper too but I don`t know what is the average wage in other countries that might make the biggest change. But yeah there is a big difference if you are a student vs. a working adult ideally with cheap living costs.

Nah I don`t think Sara Mari is tries to become a Larme model desu. She clearly admires Risa but many do and as long as she keeps going to Japan sooner or later she probably meets her in a hand shaking event. A few girls from western community have already met her and events like that happen quite often.

Dakota was in Larme 001 but I am not sure if other foreign models have appeared... I don`t know what kind of chances anyone here has to appear in Larme as you said you probably already need a modeling career and very certain look. Risa is 162 cm and 40kg models are generally very petite too. Fitting into all the brands, even the small sized brands can be hard if you are not very small framed.
>>
>>9261498
Dakota was in the first issue back when the gyaru influence was more obvious.
>>
>>9261507

The problem is these days and with Larme is that I have noticed so many people trying to get free meal tickets. After Dakota got fame well that was it. But now the doll thing is dead and with Larme being new to the west a ton of girls are seeking a gateway to popularity.

>>9261565

I already said that? Before that though she was into gyaru for a while. But yeah she got into it pretty early and the style was not that nice back then personally I think its better now.

Never said it was anon. Stop twisting things. But yeah I guess it can happen to anyone its common for girls to try getting into modelling there now anyway. Cheiko is probably desperate to get into that magazine too. I dont really like her, I prefer Sara. Cheiko just seems up her own ass.
>>
it would be interesting to know how much girls who are into larme use money on clothes per month!
>>
>>9261588
I am not trying to twist your words the way you said it just made it seem like she had been into larme for a short time. Maybe I misunderstood. I think 2 years+ is long time considering many found the style during 2016. Some other things I wrote were not directly to you sorry if it sounded like that. Autocorrect added the random desu wtf

Imo it doesn't matter if Chieko wants or not to get into larme, if she got there I was just happy for her. It is not away from anyone anyway! but maybe they don't want foreign models who knows
>>
>>9261498
I'm aware that saramari used to be into gyaru. I forgot hyperbole doesn't read well on the internet. What I meant was she's been into it longer than pretty much any other foreign girl I've seen. Definitely longer than just a year ago, more like a few years ago like >>9261565 said.

Sara doesn't seem like she's trying to get into the magazine imo. I mean sure if she was approached I doubt she'd turn it down, but she doesn't seem as fame hungry as some others I've seen. She seems to just be really genuinely into the style. Not trying to stan for her here, but I'm not sure where you're reading that from. And let's be real, pretty much any of us would be happy to be noticed by Risa. A few have already been to her handshake events (that makes her sound like an idol hah) and I would definitely go if I could.

In terms of who is hungry for fame... I'd definitely agree with you >>9261588 that Cheiko is probably desperate. I mean I do really like her style and it's nice that she got to model for Rosemarie, but you really can smell the desperation. Plus her slagging on Dakota way back probably had at least a twinge of jealousy over Dakota being in Larme once upon a time, even though Dakota is now a washed up has been.
>>
>>9261645
That one girl who became some kawaii.i local reporter for Larme in her area, Minako? Something like that. She wants fame and recognition so badly but her photos are shit quality that she tries to hide with filters and sparkles and her style is terrible. Plus if you can't fit brand then sorry, you're not going to become famous in Japan. I'm not saying you can't dress Larme without brand but Japan is a lot more brand focused, so you'll never be recognized there without it.

I'm trying to think of who else. Maybe that petitepenpal girl? She just ends of being ignored since her style is boring and not really Larme, plus now she's pushing this weird "boystyle Larme" crap in order to appear different.

There is a model call in the back of nearly every issue of Larme. I haven't read through it completely, but it seems kind of pointless to have such a thing if they were looking just for established models, no? They're probably looking for girls with a nice style that have some sort of social media following that they can use to their advantage. I think it would be a hard sell for a foreigner though. I know someone asked Ruka about applying once and she said she would love to be in Larme but I think she had doubts over being chosen due to being foreign.

Most other foreign models used by brands (like the ones Honey mi Honey uses) are just legit models, don't seem to be anyone big or interested in the Larme style.
>>
>>9261617

Oh right, oh okay anon.

Well Dakota was in there for the first few issues right? I dont know. It depends on the girl probably.

>>9261645

So its not just me... I know it sounds really rude to say but she does seem a bit eager. I tried following Cheiko and even tried making conversation as most girls in the Larme community seem lovely. But she came off really cold and that other one, her bestie Candice. So I just left it pfft. Not got time for that.

She and a few other girls were so rude over Dakota. I know Dakota isn't exactly the nicest and most wanted girl as a model in Japan. Then again we dont know. She may have changed, nobody knows because no one can ever get to know her or her sister it seems. But I caught Cheiko out when she used lolcow language and she definitely engages in bullying there. Probably.

>>9261647

Minako seems nice. But she came off a bit cringeworthy in that episode and it was pointless as it was just... two girls. Silly really.

Petitepenpal could be good you know. Honestly she has a nice body and a cute face but if she was given a properly done Larme make over she could pull it off nicely I think. She is quite a cute girl.

Ruka is trans anyway and the Japanese are still back in time with their beliefs (not all but some) so god knows if that would work. No offence to Ruka but who knows... Ruka isn't really that pretty to be honest. Weird face.

Suiswan has been getting into Larme too. But she ends up looking like a drag queen. Others such as Capsulebunny and Sayarin who have a big following are into Larme too. but Capsulebunny (kate) has far too much baggage. I can't imagine her in the magazine.
>>
>>9261670
>Kota may have changed

okay she may have, but probably not. are you up to date on Kiki drama (Kiki is her sister)? I know she's still close to Kiki and I wouldn't doubt Kota was involved in what Kiki has been doing. the ostrengas are a whole nest full of crazy

sage for OT
>>
>>9261670
you talk about chieko being mean about dakota but then you call ruka a trans & weird face and suiswan a drag queen?
>>
>>9261609
I spend about $1000-2000 per season (more in the colder months since they last longer here) so if a season is 4 months~ then I guess about $500 per month? I don't buy on a monthly basis though, I usually do a buy at the beginning of the season.

I live in an area with a pretty low cost of living so it doesn't take too long to save up.
>>
>>9261711
Just realized I said 4 instead of 3 months. Not sure what I'm thinking, monthly amount is still about the same though.
>>
The drama in this thread is so unneeded. I thought the Larme community wanted to NOT go the route of gyaru and Lolita? I'm not saying that we shouldn't criticize anyone, but calling people drag queens or accusing them of only being in the style for fame is too much.
>>
>>9261801
Ikr? What's next, something like btb and gyaru secrets? Ffs
I do think that suiswan's makeup is way too strong, but the comparison was uncalled for. Especially because she did improve there a little over time. Besides, to each their own style.
>>
>>9261670
>ruka is trans/not that pretty/weird face
Ok now you're just jelly of her coord skills. She just needs to wear more makeup, there's nothing actually wrong with her looks.
>>
>>9261711
Where do you buy from anon?
Like from individual brand stores ?
>>
>>9261588
calm down, hun
>>
>>9261609
I spend $300 a month. Though in Larme that goes a lot longer of a way than in Lolita.
>>
With it being christmas, does anyone know where to find places that sell Brand that are easy for non-jp to buy? and when i say easy, i mean like, for 60 year old parents easy. No SS and stuff, atm i'm just finding links through places like ASOS but with those sort of prices I can buy it myself usually -- though not with JP brand prices usually.
>>
>>9261850
dollskill sells onespo and little sunny bite

lazy oaf sells ammy and the batty girls (prob not larme but idk if your styling skills are good enough)

It really comes down to how good your styling skills and eye for items is... you can literally find larmable items in most shops. Larme outfits aren't as simple to put together as lolita unless you use brand.

As for prices... wego is best bet for affordable jfash but you said no ss but tenso imo is pretty straightforward.
>>
>>9261850
Tokyo otaku mode. You'll pay a big markup but it's simple.
>>
>>9261801

honest unfiltered opinions are drama? cgl isn't a place to word things to avoid stepping on other peoples toes
>>
>>9261711
>>9261849

I spend about the same maybe a little less. I buy more when sale starts but per month about 100-250, I´d say $1500-2000 in 6 months. If earned more I´d buy a little more per month but usually with that amount I can already buy what I want the most.

Some people do want to gain fame and seem a little desperate and cringe for it so I'm going to point it out. Although I don't think anyone is in to Larme JUST for fame. Larme is the wrong style if you want to get super famous.

I also don't see anything wrong with criticizing coords as long as it doesn't become a personal attack. I'm not the one who called Ruka trans or sui a drag queen though. I feel like those are the kind of comments that get into the petty bullshit that gives Lolita comms a bad name. I still don't think that Larme is ever going to get that bad

We can discuss things without going to either extreme (i.e. Hugbox vs btb)
>>
>>9261670
Ruka was born (or assigned at birth if you prefer) female. Her original name was Linda. I used to read her first tumblr years ago.
