All good cons are now 18+.

Originally they were 16+, but it caused no end of shit with insurance, plus you needed constant supervision of 18+ anime showings, dealers had to ask for ID and the bar staff had a nightmare. One con trialled 18+ and it was a huge success. Not only did it run smoother, the sheer stupidity dropped significantly thanks to banning idiot teenage weebs.

Age limits are usually a good indicator of con quality.

I actually had a pretty good time, went with my 2 friends and saw a lot of cancer, but we mainly stuck to ourselves (aside from some shitty meet my friend wanted to go to).

I found a bunch of figurines for pretty cheap (not fake either), and caught my friend almost buying a fake nendo. Some guy even let me have £15 off a figure because the guy in charge of the card machine didn't show up and I didn't have any cash left. Got a discount off some rare art books too because the guy at the stall liked me

Overall pretty good

Aside from the screaming K-pop fans trying to dance, the curse of Liam/Shadow was strong in the Pop Asia stage. His Mickey Mouse/Sora/something-else-I'm-not-sure-of 'cosplay' was...well...you know the rest.

One of the foreign cosplayers here. She indeed did some crazy ass stalking to one of my friends. It started with just sending a shitload messages on fb, but later she started adding everyone my friend was seen on pictures with, including people who aren't even in the cosplay scene. Later she started to tell people they were dating, while my friend just wanted to be left alone.

Yeah, thought I'd check out an Irish con for comparison and it's amazing how backward it was compared to Brit cons. The masquerade was really weird, I don't know if it's just because it was on a much smaller scale than we're used to in the UK. Don't know what the judges were thinking with the Eurocosplay winner either but that's why Ireland always does shit in the final.

It was pretty average. Wasn't a bad costume but even from a distance the craftsmanship didn't look amazing, same standard as you'd see walking round the hall at MCM really. Very standard performance too - Disney song lip synch, record scratch, lol comedy thing we're all sick of here. There weren't many Eurocosplay entries and none of them were exactly mind-blowing but at least a couple of them were more polished, or at least more entertaining, than the winner.

I think by the time we got in the guy on the desk just didn't tell us. I mean Eirtakon as a whole wasn't bad. Pub Quiz is always great, but I missed out on the Saturday night because I was just feeling like shite but I know it would have been fun anyway.

They just needed more panel variety and someone who could actually schedule for shit. Personally I would have put something like QR codes or the website for the scheduling site around the place and on the screens they had. I just hope whatever spiritual successor pops up will be better.

It's not bad but it's a concern they had to cancel it this year and they've been touting around a Gofundme page to be able to run it next year.

The vendors application form says they only accept "high quality" stuff to be sold regardless of whether it's bootleg or not which is pretty big black mark against them. Bootlegs shouldn't be allowed at any con regardless of whether they're "high quality" ones or not.

Yeah Majikkon is one of my favourites simply because it's local and they have a decent amount of things going on/nice stalls. Not so many normies and attendees were relatively friendly people. Probably not worth it if you're travelling a large distance though.
