New idol thread, any groups allowed. Post any and all idol cosplays, anime or real. Bonus points if there's a good dance group.

Any idols at NYCC?

Not a lot of people do this set so I'm happy to see it.
Slightly annoyed that that Maki's wig looks orange though. I hope it's the lighting.
>>
As much as I love Love Live! and im@s, I'd love to see other idol groups. Here's Wake Up, Girls! because I couldn't find actual cosplay for them.

I don't know why more groups don't do that.

I think anyone who plays SIF regularly knows what the URs are for each set. No one just thinks to feature them in groups.

So, is anyone eyeing the new Birthstone set for a possible cosplay?
I know I am.
>>
>>9214151
I think it's mostly because WUG isn't well liked (for good reasons). Had you been talking about Aikatsu, I would have agreed, but WUG is meh
>>
>>9216873
Yeah out of all the recent idol groups WUG is the most unfortunate. I appreciate it's take on the reality of the idol world but I remember barely anything about the characters and can barely tell them apart.
>>
>>9216241
I'm surprised at how much I like it, but having never made a prop before, I have to be hesitant. It's a lovely design but one of the harder ones from Love Live

>>9216873
>>9216892
Was WUG that bad? I actually really liked it, being a fan of big(and dying to AKB) idol groups, I liked the realism of it and that they didn't have some crazy hair/mid song transformation.
>>
>>9216954
It was mostly that it was a bunch of weird themes put together and never truly got fleshed out properly. A lot of the girls were mean and weird, it was a hyper realistic situation, and then there was this misplaced fanservice all over that felt weird. If they had touched upon the fanservice as being a necessity and played into the fact that the show mirrors life, that would be one thing but the first episode has like flashes of panties for no reason. Its like watching a serious murder mystery but they have tit closeups during awkward scenes. And also the girls were boring a difficult to tell apart but they're exactly the type of people to fall into some idol scam like they did so I guess it's even more fitting.
>>
>>9216241
See I love this, I love a lot of idol designs, but I just can't get past the creepiness and fetishism of the genre... Doesn't help that out of my local Love Live cosplay group a lot of them are fakebois and sissies.
>>
>>9217007
> fakebois

I don't think that means what you think it means
>>
>>9217007
The creepy fetishism is mostly on the Japanese side. Western idol fans tend to be girls.
Although you would have to deal with all the yuri-shippers.
>>
>>9217016
It means exactly what I think it means. Supposedly trans men who feel no dysphoria cosplaying very female idols and doing dances, yet get #triggered if you misgender them.

>>9217438
Unfortunately where I live there are definitely a lot of male 'fans'. I wish it wasn't like this but what can you do?
>>
File: 1396802688762.jpg (253KB, 593x1335px) Image search: [Google]
1396802688762.jpg
253KB, 593x1335px
>>9214136
>>
>>9217458
The trans thing is a bit tricky.
On one hand, you're just dressing up as a character, it doesn't affect how you present yourself on a daily basis.
On the other hand, if you're purposely dressed as a girl, you shouldn't get offended when someone calls you a girl.
>>
>>9217458
Have you tried male idols? The obligatory tap and more feminine guys have some really cute designs. If male fans put you off you'll run into a lot less of them, although there's more fakbois.
>>
>>9218133
*Trap, not tap
>>
>>9216975
It's not awkward, WUG is the closest thing to an actual representation of the idol industry (mainstream and underground) and the emotions and situations real idols face on a daily basis. It's not liked because it shows the true face of the industry which many idol fans have a delusion about. Most idol anime watchers want cute happy kawaii uguu girls who face basic situations (ex: love live, pripara, etc.) WUG is my favorite idol anime for that reason.
>>
>>9218267
Eh, I mostly don't care for WUG because it's kinda ugly. Not in the "real life" way, but like.. none of the girls are cute. None of their outfits are cute.
The other idol groups in the background of the last episode were cuter than the main girls.

I mean I guess the point was to show what it's like being in a not-as-successful idol group?
>>
>>9218272
Their suppose to be average/ugly looking. Most real life underground idols (WUG) have average/ugly looking girls while mainstream idols (I-1 Club = AKB48 if you haven't figured it out) have the most appealing and beautiful girls management fixes up. It's a complex idol anime and I wouldn't expect everyone to understand WUG when they were introduced through Love Live or Idolm@ster but don't explore more of the real life idol scene that inspires these animes.
>>
>>9218267
>>9218281
Different strokes for different folks,. I feel they could have gotten the point across without the weird fanservice at times. I dislike it for reasons stated prior in the thread but not because it's realistic. That's why I liked the Idolm@ster anime, it had conflict that was realistic and well-done in an otherwise fun show. I know reading comprehension is difficult for you, but the first words of the post you're replying to says they disliked it for not being properly fleshed out. Get off your high horse and pretending that liking WUG makes you an intellectual. WUG is hardly as complex as you'd like it to seem and yes, WUG is indeed awkward from its plot, its animation, its characters, its songs, its screenwriting, to its character interaction.
>>
For the entire decade I've been cosplaying hte term fakeboi has only ever been used to describe girls who crossdress as men, especially those who try to convince you they are men with no dysmorphia. I don't know of any derogatory terms for men who dress as girl characters. Trap, I guess, but a lot aren't really trying to pass. I think it's pretty shitty to judge men who want to dress as female characters when I feel like more than 60% of all cosplayers I see at cons are girls dressed as male characters.

The strength of anime and animation in general is the ability to take things beyond the scope of what could be captured in a live action series. Not all the seiyus for Love Live are the best singers or super attractive, but by giving them the alternative looks of their overly cute and colorful characters gives fans a more stimulating visual to gravitate towards. They could make PVs and visual gags like dressing them all up in KISS outfits without the logistics behind making yet another live action idol PV or constructing all those costumes. And it pandered to the fantasy that idols are in the business for pure reasons and somehow were entirely self made despite the sheer amount of labor, skill and management they would need to be doing to pull any of their stuff off. "The TV Show is letting us pick our concert venue!" Hahahahaha what?

Nothing in WUG convinced me that it needed to be animated. Literally everything they did was rooted in realism. Even with something like Tokyo Godfathers, a much more gritty, real anime features than mainstream stuff, had an advantage over a live action filming because trying to get fake snow in Tokyo or waiting for real snow is a hassle for coordinating film crews.

DID SOMEONE SAY IDOL COSPLAY?
>>
>>9218316
Woah I love this!!!
>>
>>9218133
Not really a fan of male idols. Ah well...

>>9218292
That's what I'm describing too. These people say they're trans and make their whole identity based on 'muh gender' yet never plan on transitioning and don't care about cosplaying female characters and presenting as females. But the second people think they're female they go apeshit. Real trans men trying to transition are fine, though I wonder why they choose to cosplay females.

Anyways, sage for off-topic.

Me and a friend are looking to possibly cosplaying Reine and Jennifer's matching Valentine's v1 outfits. It looks like a lot of work to put together, but we're determined to do it.

Will say Nico and Yoshiko are making fun of the typical idol fan ideals. Nico is supposed to be a typical kawaii uguu, I love you so sooo much!! I only sing for you!! idol is actually a grumpy, short little shit who doesnt give a shit. Yoshiko is one of those idols who uses an idol character front and hide behind whilst knowing its embarrassing af. LL makes a joke out of these over done stereotypes which typical otaku love. The otaku arent smart enough half the time to see through it though.
WGU I get the stance on, it tried and it really depends on if you like it or hate it. Im glad its still managing to chug along amongst Love Live.

I actually think she looks really pretty. Stop being dicks.
>>
>>9224454
Yeah, no.

Repeated posting is nothing but attentionwhoring "uhbubu body positivity please lick my ass because i am strong brave fat womyn who dares post her idoru cosplays". On Facebook all of the same mindset will comply and tell her that she looks really pretty, while the ones who don't will keep silent due to witch hunts. Here we don't have to, and most importantly we don't need to lick anybody's ass. So please, let yourself go and take a fresh breath of air for once, preferably miles away from that landwhale's crack.

(Also worst girl, shit taste.)
>>
>>9224504
Also is that even one of Nico's outfits or just some random black dress? It's like that girl who was trying to sell some old black bellydancing gear on FB sales as an "original Nico cosplay."
>>
>>9224531
I swear there was a BiBi outfit sort of like that (not the first ones) but I can't find any pictures to back that claim up.
>>
>>9224504

If shes posting and getting on your nerves, speak up. Dont pussy out on here. But in terms of her appearance she is actually very pretty, and I dont think there's anything wrong with saying that. I'd probably hate repeated posting, but my comment had absolutely nothing to do with that, just her appearance - being larger does not instantly mean that you're unable to look pretty.
>>
>>9224586
I agree with this.

She's pretty, in my opinion. Overweight does not equal ugly.

If she's reposting herself though, yeah ok, that's annoying af. But call her out on that shit rather than hiding behind 4chan. It's a legitimate reason to call someone out on if they're overposting themselves as you're right, that is attention whoring.
>>
>>9224531
I think it might be one of the live show outfits?
>>
>>9224588
>>9224586
She's not overposting (unlike kylie crabtree who has shown up on my feed probably 50 times from that group) but she is an eyesore and has posted multiple times.

You are welcome to defend the landwhale, but I don't think there's anything wrong with posting an idol cosplay in an idol thread.

>>
>>9224880

If you're going to shit on people for their idol cosplays make sure its because they're actually bad. Now that the source has been posted you haven't got a leg to stand on other than "wah wah shes fat". She is attractive and her costume looks accurate and pretty well made. Get the salt out of your asscrack and post things we can actually rip into for legitimate reasons.
>>
>>9225004
He literally just announced another AKB sister group that is gonna be on a fucking boat. As much as I love 48G and Aki-P, he is just trying to make money with the LL popularity and it might end up like 0048.
>>
>>9223951
The whiteknights need to stop with the "being fat doesn't automatically mean you're unattractive" mindset. Stop being a fat apologist, a fat fetishist, or probably fucking fat yourself. That girl is, yes, morbidly obese and you should be ashamed for trying to sugar coat it. If you wouldn't look at someone morbidly anorexic and pat them on the back and tell them to just keep doing what they're doing and fuck da haterz!! then don't do it to someone else also endangering their health on a different end of the spectrum
>>
>>9225004
What's with all the different character designers?
>>
>>9225201

At least she can lose the weight, you'll forever be a toxic and salty little bitch.
>>
>>9225302
I really don't care if that makes me a bitch. I don't condone morbid obesity, just like I don't condone morbid anorexia, just like I don't condone use of hard drugs that often lead to death/sickness, so on and so forth. You mad cause you're a hammy too?
>>
>>9225308

Anons didn't condone it, they'd have to be blind to not know she's obese but at the same time just being fat doesn't mean they're worthy for this thread and being shitposted. They're only judging on the costume and her not having an unfortunate face just because you're salty about her posting a couple of times on a FB group dedicated to idol cosplay. Just because they have the capacity to call you out on being an ass doesnt mean they're white knighting, they just think you're a dick.
>>
>>9225325
I'm actually not a part of any fb idol group so I'm not sure if you think I'm the person that posted her. Ignorance is the same as condoning though. If you see someone harming themselves and just look away, you're an accomplice.
>>
>>9225330

That's one thing I don't get, people are happy to post people who are overweight and claim to care about their health etc but don't actually do anything aside from post here anonymously about how terrible they are for being that way. They don't actually do anything to help and think it's enough to write something insulting as though that's going to make a difference?

Anyway, we've derailed this enough. Let's see some more idol trash.
>>
>>9225201
She is overweight, I agree. She's probably not as extreme as morbidly obese as your claiming, but yeah, it's not a particularly healthy looking weight.

I'm not gonna judge someone I don't know on their weight though. She could have a myriad of health problems or just be fat - I don't know and I don't care enough to find out.

However, her costume is accurate and the way her facial features are arranged are physically pretty. Therefore, she is not "pig disgusting".

And it doesn't mean you're automatically ugly. The are plenty of pretty people who are overweight. Yeah, they could stand to lose a few pounds but that's not actually is at question here.

And honestly, how the fuck is ripping into someone gonna help them with their weight?

> Is the costume accurate? Yes.
> Is the makeup right? Yes.
> Is the wig right? Yes.
> Is she character-size accurate? No

So, 3/4 is fine. Ergo, not trash.

Next please.
>>
>>9225338
>They don't actually do anything to help
What's there to do? Tell the person they're fat? I guarantee you they already know.
>>
>>9225488
If they already know, then it's up to them to decide what they want to do about it. Their health, their weight, is literally NONE of your bloody business.

If she was UK, ok with the NHS she might costing a little bit of tax payer's money in health bills, but she's not. She's from the USA where she literally costs you nothing, and you can just ignore her entirely.

Considering the obesity crisis America has, maybe you should be petitioning against portion sizes, rather than just bitching out some random girl on 4chan.

At this point in time, it looks like she has more of a life than you do, mate.

Let's move on now.
>>
>>9225496
I wasn't the first person, just saying that's a dumb thing to point out.

Bit offtopic: I'm a photographer and I'm going to do a photoshoot with all 9 girls from µ's. I've been lurking here trying to think of good angles and poses, does anyone have a suggestion?

I've thought about breaking in groups but wanted to do group shots as well.
>>
>>9226564
Depends on the outfit I guess? ou can always ref poses from any song that has a dance in that particular outfit (eg start, end pose and even just mid dance) Also its always easy to break off into year levels or units
>>
>>9225004
I am so excited, my body is ready
>>
>>9226564

ANY END SHOT! seriously. The dances always end with all of them visible. They're usually facing forward, or mostly forward, and it's designed for the pose to be held. OP1, snow Halation, Kira Kira Sensation, Loveless World, Kaguya's Castle.

All of them have an end pose.

If you're not gonna use that; then you need to stagger the girls; the biggest mistake I see when people take all 9 together is that they all have them on the same level in a straight line. It just doesn't work as everyone is different heights and it really highlights when things don't quite match up.

If you're gonna have a line, stagger them one behind the other, with the tallest at the back. Step the slight out to each other.

Semi-circle shorts work well. Some stood up, some knelt down.

I would also recommend "eyes closed, 1, 2, 3 OPEN" so everyone has their eyes open at the same time. This is especially good when photos are taken in the sun, as otherwise people are squinting. The sun behind the camera man makes a great lighting for the photo, but the "models" in the short usually get blinded as a result

>>
>>9226876
2 minutes. I liked the intro, that was pretty well done. Once they start dancing the orange sweater one is constantly drawing attention because of how often she's out of sync and stopping to look around at the rest of the group for the next move. The others are also often out of step but at least they don't freeze and look around helplessly.

If you're going to go to the trouble of a multi camera choreographed recording, rehearse, rehearse, REHEARSE.

I think I would have liked WUG more if it pushed it a little further by making some of the members of the group have crushes or boyfriends instead of "Oh a friend of mine was dating someone and I tried to stand up for them and it got ugly." I can't really buy the whole realism aspect until they allow the characters to be more than quirky pure snowflake waifus.
>>
>>9228750
Is there any idol anime that touches on that issue, aside from WUG?
>>
>>9228981
Yeah but whats the point if it totally gets lost and is unimportant in the end? There's not point in saying "this idol anime isn't like the others!!!!!!" if the thing differentiating it from others is so minor it hardly gets touched upon. That's just a cop out to get people to watch a mediocre show. "It has so and so great ideas except they never get explored and when they do get explored, its bland as fuck and stupid!" Sounds like a great anime.
>>
>>9229001
I feel like you're just describing WUG

>>9229006
Yeah haha, most other anime don't touch upon it but iM@S touches upon grief and loss. Not anything like domestic abuse though. It may pop up in others though, it doesn't seem to crazy.

With merchandising and waifus being such a major player in otakudom these days I doubt we will see much advancement in giving the girls (or guys) much depth or real issues. Otaku expect their fake girls and real girls alike to be "pure"

I guess Macross actually allows the girls to have romance but it's usually with the MC and Macross has been doing the idol thing well before it became a requirement for every anime and game to have some.
>>
>>9229009

And then you have Full Moon in the other corner with a kid with throat cancer, shinigami who are people (and young children) who have committed suicide and have to reap souls as punishment for forsaking life; the anime wimps out on this fact though.

>>
>>9240967
>>9240967
the sailor collars, bows, complex patterns on each skirt, and the rosettes + sheer trail coming from the rosettes make the designs feel a bit less cohesive. i dont hate them necessarily they just feel overdesigned when compared to the original set that had nowhere near that much tacked onto it

>>
>>9241265
Definitely have to agree about them being overdesigned. I love the Kanan SR and Riko UR but the continuous transparent ruffle on their skirts bother me; I didn't like it too much on the yukata set either but it fit more there than on a cheerleading/athletic set.

I also feel like the original muse URs look better idolized. Riko definitely looks great, but there's just something so appealing about the closeup balloons and simple non-designed mic.
>>
How frowned upon is it generally to cosplay Love Live without knowing much about it? I mostly really like the outfits and designs and want to wear cute girl costumes that aren't just school uniforms or overly lewd. I'm not really into rhythm games though, and I checked out the anime but found it a little boring. I feel bad about cosplaying something without being a true fan but I feel like more people do that when it comes to LL? At least from the ones I've approached at cons
>>
>>9243477
I'll get pissy if you're just cosplaying because its popular, but if you enjoy the game and its designs go ahead. At least you watched the anime, there's nothing wrong with having an opinion
>>
>>9243477
Loads of people cosplay LL without knowing anything at all about it, at least here. I've met people who don't know anything about their character which is a bit exasperating but as long as you have at least very basic knowledge (which it seems you do) I don't think people will care.
>>
>>9243477
I find it a little weird to only cosplay a girl because of her design and nothing about her personally, but it's popular enough where you should be okay, if that makes any sense.

I'l recommend at least trying to get through the anime. It's not long, easily accessible and is overall pretty fun and will be your best way to absorb what your character is about. Don't get me wrong it has some dumb premises and moments, but otherwise pretty tame compared to a lot of other "cute girls do shit" anime.
>>
>>9243477
A member of our muse group has no idea about the character she does. She just like dancing
>>
>>9243477

>>
The cosplays themselves are hit and miss, but my god. The filming. It's beyond amateur.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8N7RBi2vtMI&feature=youtu.be
>>
>>9243477
I would recommend at least knowing about the character/look over a plot synopsis of which season the girl comes from. Especially poses/memes their associated with because if someone asks you to do a pose and you look dumbfound, its gonna get a fan upset.

For the original, season 1 is a mess. Ngl its a mess and the sudden personality switches of Eli and Honk piss me off to no end. Season 2 improves it, gives the girls the backstory they deserve and Nozomi/Rin became my firm favourites just with their epsiodes. The Movie is fun but it feels like episodes squashed together at times and the personality switch happened to Umi. For wht is outside of the anime, I really recommend the school diarys/dramas that have been fan traslated. Theres the game too which I know quite a few cosplayers who only play that game and cosplay.

LL Sunshine I've been following from the start and its anime kind of suffers from the same but is better than the originals first season. More depth, no sudden personality switches without there being reason. The first few eps and last episode is clunky but I recommend it to newbies. Just ignore hardcore Muse stans. The dramas are ok but were released only a few months after the seiyuus started voicing the characters.

Sorry for the ramble.
>>
>>9244533
This is so sad since it's a cute idea and I see what they were getting at but the weird cutting of some of the better clips, bad filming choices and ugly unstable camera work ruins it.
>>
>>9244653
It's just really... Mistakes at the very first step, no research sorta thing... And the angelic angel Maki - it's the same clip used twice just one reversed..
>>
How do you guys get into groups and make sure that nobody flakes? I usually try to set deadlines and remind people often to buy/finish their costumes, but more often than not some people end up flaking anyway when it's far too late to look for someone else.
I also don't want to be too annoying, either.
Do you all have any tips or past experiences with flaky groups?
>>
>>9244704
You can't. It's really destroying, especially wheb your full 9 piece suddenly drops to 6 due to a mix of illness and people not bothering. We all bought the costumes and accessories at the same time too, as well as tickets for the con, just 2 people decided to not bother (the 3rd I'll pardon, she couldnt control getting sick)
>>
>>9244688
Seems like some of the clips are just cutoffs of other ones but before the cosplayer starts doing things, Magician Honoka and Maki seem like they're just standing around waiting to be told to start to do things in some of their clips, should really have edited that out...

Feel kinda bad for the cosplayers that actually posed and acted well but you can't even see their faces for the shaky camerawork (like that AA Maki and the event Nico)
>>
>>9244770
The lighting is bad as well for them too

It's unfortunate, I've not really seen many London October expo Love Livers in videos
>>
>>9244784

>>
>>9244704
It comes down to really good vetting. Don't just go picking anyone, you need to make sure you pick people for your group who consistently follow through on their cosplay plans. Unfortunately, for a good group to happen, you kind of have to be annoying and continually check up on everyone to make sure they're finishing everything.

You wouldn't want to see a close up of my face. I was just heading back to fix my make up when she caught me to film.

The Honoka doing it was super sweet. It's a good idea, but a shame the camera was so shaky etc.

I'd love to see Smile250 do something similar but I know he's going to be focusing more on international cons now, so it's unlikely.
>>
>>9244704
I've had good luck myself with groups -- both of which were dance groups as well. It was picked from friends who all knew each other and privately arranged, since we knew it'd be filmed I think more of us got ourselves in gear.
We did have some flakes the second time, but it was more people dropping out a month or two in advance as they weren't sure if they could in the end so we had time to replace them.

I'd say stick with friends you know are reliable. Set a date and costume straight away and keep up a group chat for discussion and don't remind everyone at the last moment. Also, decide where you're ordering from/what materials you're using in advance. If you start planning early enough and keep on checking if everyone's okay you might have more luck at not getting flakers.
>>
>>9244913
It looks like the waistband elastic just slid up and might have bunched things. Part of being in a good group also means you can help other members spot and fix costume slips.

Speaking of thinly veiled vendettas, how come all the stuff being posted here recently is purely UK LL cosplayers? Got some problems anon?
>>
>>9246032

It only makes sense since the con was a week ago which is rife with shitty cosplays and fatties trying to be something that they're not.
I'm surprised it's taken this long.
>>
>>9246032
There was a UK con just a week ago, evidence of bad life choices have started appearing
>>
Can anyone help me with finding this version of Yukiho?

I want to buy because I'm really bad at sewing, but if there's an easy pattern to do I'll also do it that way. I just can't find it anywhere...

>>
>>9246023
Jesus most of them look like men. Only the Kotori, Hanayo, and possibly Nozomi are okay.
>>
>>9246023
Is it just me, or is the Eli not wearing shows?
>>
>>9245884
Is this the group that can't hold on to it's members?
>>
>>9246109
I think people left due to education. One of the adverts they had for honkers said that anyway
>>
>>9246109
I saw them at HJ (didn't do Expo)

Looking at the image that was posted, they have almost the same cast but missing Honoka and Nozomi and gained 3 others. Maybe the other two just couldn't do Expo?
>>
>>9245950
for a moment I was disappointed because I was expecting evanescence from the get go

then shit got real
>>
>>9246109

Pssh, have you even been reading this thread? It's the most common complaint for idol cosplayers, some people are just flakes or real life gets in the way.
>>
>>9246129
I got really worried, with the badly drawn pentagram and bit of cheese being thrown in.

But then Hanamaru happened and I was alright
>>
>>9246109
Someone recently posted about how to keep members - guessing Love Livers are flaky af!

Should go for an older series; people are less likely to drop because they actually like the series, rather than do it because it's cool
>>
>>9246153
Take your salt elsewhere, for fuck's sake
>>
>>9246156
Talk about salty - that was an extreme over reaction.

I mean, this page is currently loaded with salt; people are clearly just bitching about each other.
>>
Quick question, is there a good seller/alternative for the μ's animal hoodies? The bushiroad shop is way too expensive
>>
>>9245850
Yeah, same. What makes it work is that I can absolutely see Yohane fucking around in her basement with her friends making lipsync videos to gothic songs.
>>
>>9246032
Because MCM was last weekend and a good UK LL cosplayer is a very rare thing.
>>
>>9246588
This is kinda sad. Surely there must be some (though it's true that I never really see any good ones posted, and this thread is usually full of UK cosplayers so I guess they're a myth)
>>
>>9246397
There are a bunch on Taobao if you're willing to shop from there. If I remember rightly UWOWO sells ones with nice looking lining on the hood.
>>
>>9246666
There are some excellent UK love live cosplays, but you'll never see them here because the UK love live scene only use this to tear down others so they feel better about themselves.

There is nothing wrong with the kks group or the devil nozomi (at least in the images supplied). When someone said they were fine, or to post a vid, they were silent. I refuse to believe that noone got a clip of them.

The vendetta is so obvious, it's just so childish and pathetic.
>>
>>9246666
Oh, there are loads of good ones! Just they don't get posted at UK love livers are just bitchy.

Legit seen a Rin outright turn her back and snub another Rin before. Never seen a fandom like it
>>
>>9246666
I just said that they were rare. Not that they were a myth.

We have very few good, lot of average/mediocre, and an equal anount of bad.
>>
>>9246692
Come to think of it, I've seen the same with other LL cosplayers (being cunts to other people cosplaying the same character). It's true that this is pretty much just a 'UK cosplayers bitching about each other' thread by now though, guess the scene is particularly ugly.

>>9246689
Would be nice to see some more constructive or less vendetta-ridden contributions once in a while since it's supposed to be general idol not 'shitty idol gossip' but that's wishful thinking.
>>
>>9244856
I love this outfit but I would never ever wear this outfit because I know Id look fucking terrible in it. props to the fatties that had the courage to wear the outfit i guess?
>>
>>9246726

I experienced this myself at a con. Normally I'd cosplay obscure characters and series so you'd only have a trickle of people talking to you and usually a casual nod to their childhood or something. It was my first time cosplaying love live and I noticed if I ever tried to say hi or compliment someone they would either look away and pretend no one talked to them or just close off into their groups more. It was super uncomfortable.
>>
>>9246739
Sorry you had a shitty experience anon. I tend to stick more with my groups at cons since I'm not good at talking to strangers but not even trying to say hi to people trying their best to socialise is harsh. I feel like the scene here is very cliquey, saw some groups at the last couple cons who refused to have anything to do with other LL groups, kinda sad since we all clearly have the same shit taste anyway.
>>
>>9245884
the only decent looking girl is kotori.and maybe hanayo
>>
>>9246739
>>9246743
Sorry you've had that experience. Not all of us are salty cunts.
Generally I'll always try to make an effort to say Hi and chat to fellow Love Livers. Especially if we're cosplaying the same character.

love live is shit imo but i did eli cosplay anyways. i watched the whole thing but never really enjoyed it. LL is so overrated imo i don't understand the obsession with it, but some of their outfits are incredible
>>
>>9246762
I think that's why it's so popular for cosplay at leaast, the variation in the outfits you get to wear just for one character is pretty stellar. I'm a big fan of the game since I'm big on rhythm games, but the anime is pretty subpar.
>>
>>9246762
It's such a shit show but has so many pretties...
>>
>>9246726
It's pretty sad that people can't help each other out and support one another. Instead they're just posting each other on here and going "look how much they suck!" At the same time they're going "oh I love your x-cosplay!" To their face
>>
sometimes i am embarrassed to be grouped with the UK LL fandom... I've had problems with others before for personal reasons, but I have legit been verbally attacked for wanting to cosplay someone else's favourite character... I just cosplay with my own group of close friends, but i still love talking to others if they're not salty cunt chans.
>>
>>9246726
>I've seen the same with other LL cosplayers (being cunts to other people cosplaying the same character).
I haven't seen this happen a ton in my area.. I mean at the worst, you just don't get approached as much if your cosplay is good, but I've seen that happen with any series.

I really worry for the UK scene though.

>>9246762
>cosplaying something you don't even like
>>
>>9246876
There are some okay people who like and cosplay love live within the U.K (and do it well), but everything is super clique-y with friendship groups etc. which is kind of sad but w/e.

Genuinely, other than the small group (I'd say it's like ... 15 of us, maybe? give or take?) i'm close friends w/ everyone I've met gets super bitchy about it.

Then again, for all the other UK love live cos-ers we could have a cgl meet, I mean, if everyone here are the salty-cunt-chans we're complaining about and want non-salt friends it might work well for everyone? Unless, you're just as bad as the people you're bitching about.

Also, if anyone does have good UK idol cosplayers please share them and try and exorcise the motherfucking salt before I get cholesterol.

There's lots of music and pretties and dumb fun without the characters being exploited nearly as much as other "cute girls do shit" shows. Yeah there's boob grabs but but I've been an anime fan for so damn long that it's pretty tame in comparison.

tldr; Japan is slowly discovering women have money too
>>
>>9246898
UK cosplay/jfashion comm is super cliquey in general. Good luck trying to make friends.
>>
>>9246927
Thank you!
Sorry to say, but I won't be uploading any photos as I didn't make it myself. (Plus I don't particularly like the way I looked in the wig.)
>>
>>9246762
It's cute, it's not as obviously aimed towards men as other idol shows, and it's fun for you and your friends to identify with different girls and cosplay them together. Also there are shitloads of outfits. Agreed that the anime is pretty meh, but I still have fun cosplaying it.
>>
>>9246898
I feel you anon. I kind of want to make more LL cos friends (isn't that the point of going to meets and stuff) but it seems like everyone I know has some kind of ongoing salt with everyone else so it's a bit offputting and I end up staying with just one friendship group for ease. Not sure how a cgl meet would go but I guess at least all of us agree that the UK scene is predominantly shit. I feel like it might just turn out that we all know each other anyway though since most people posting here seem to have knowledge from a lot of the same events.

Also seconding the request for good UK idol cosplayers. No decent MCM content?
>>
>>9246994
I know quite a few that both make their own and/or buy. But I won't post them because it's not fair to potentially put them under fire from some salty-chans.
I'm sure others feel the same.
>>
>>9246998
Yeah, I feel the same. Seems like posting even good UK cosplayers is just gonna be met with 'heard she's a bitch' or some petty complaint. It's a shame since we do actually have some decent cosplayers here.
>>
>>9246668
Ah thank you! Checked out the UWOWO ones and they're really nice. Too bad they sold out on the ones I wanted (Umi, Eli and Kotori's).
How different are they from the bushiroad hoodies? If they aren't much different, it's a really good deal for its price
>>
>>9246998
This is my one problem with the LL cos-com in the UK. I personally don't really like buying mostly cause I like wearing stuff I've made.

But the
1. Buy the cosplay
2. Photo the cosplay
3. Sell the cosplay
rinse and repeat routine seems so disposable?
Would love to meet other LL/idol makers though.
>>
>>9247015

I can understand when you form a group and you have a few who can sew but the rest can't. You'd end up mismatched or resented for having something better/different - or you end up dragged into making several. As far as I'm concerned I sew for myself and would get sick of the costume set before I even put it on.
I want to make more of them, but this holds me back. There are some which look terrible bought so I generally tell my groups I wont buy them and will make my favourite.
>>
>>9247015
I'm not great at sewing from scratch so I usually buy and just alter things I'm not happy with. I'd set my expectations far too high than what I can do and be disappointed at the end of it if I made it all myself. (I am improving slowly so hopefully will make my own in full one day though.)

I have no issue with buying (and selling after a time/for valid reasons), what really pisses me off that a lot of LL cosplayers here seem to sell cosplays on for more than they bought them for even after wear though. Saw someone selling on a cosplay they bought off a friend of mine for more than the price they paid for it in the first place...Kinda surprised nobody called them out on it since it just seems like ripping people off? (Not that this is uncommon here either.)

Though I don't think buying is an isolated UK thing, I think quite a lot of worldwide LL cosplayers buy their cosplays since it's quite easy to get your hands on them these days.
>>
>>9247018
Yeah it's what's putting me off cosplaying in the fandom. The groups are just too big to manage and the few people I have met who sew all want to cosplay Eli, Maki and Umi. Saw a lot of Aquors at MCM but they all looked bought to me.
>>
>>9247018
For me... I can't sew very well. If its a simple costume, I will try and make it myself but if its something that I know I cannot do but really want it anyways I will buy it. Tho, I dont really get that buy shoot sell cicle, seems like such a waste to me...
>>
>>9247015
I so rarely buy cosplays as I like to make mine. I bought a couple this year as I was focusing on competition cosplays at the time before the con, and then again to fill in and complete the AA group. But I'm not going to make a habit of it.
Especially as I've fallen in love and started to focus on making the live concert versions of the outfits. Even if it means I won't be in a full group.
>>
Another pet peeve is when people who buy have the nerve to complain about prices when buying them. If they asked a commissioner to do it they'd be paying twice as much easily. But no, they'd rather have mediocre cosplays.
When I do buy I try to buy the best one going rather than something which looks like trash.
>>
>>9247043
That comes from young/new fans, yeah.
If you know a lick about quality and standards, you wouldn't go for the cheapest thing on eBay.
>>
>>9247043
I feel this. Seeing people decide to suddenly be stingy about money when they're buying something like wedding set or white day set and end up with a crappy dress when it's supposed to be drop-dead stunning gives me actual pain.

The worst thing is a lot of LL cosplays don't even have to be ridiculously pricey if you know where to shop, but people still end up going for the shitty versions. Do yourself a favour and save a little longer for a lovely one instead...
>>
>>9247043
That is something that really pisses me off, or when people go to stores that sell Taobao stuff but triple the price
>>
>>9247043
Saw someone recently post about a Cheosang cosplay being too expensive, when it was under £70 for everything; shoes, accessories, costume and shipping. For that price, I'd be suspicious about the seller as that seems very cheap to me.
>>
>>9247015
I know a person who buys the costume, wears it, puts it up for sale but continues to wear it to conventions.

She even wore a costume she had SOLD to a con, to then give it to the buyer the day after. Can't be the only one who would be disgruntled if someone did that to me...
>>
>>9247084
I hope she gave them a discount
>>
>>9247084
Similar story here, once attended a shoot with someone who technically sold the costume before the shoot...
>>
>>9247084
That's gross. Did she even wash it?
>>
>>9247054
Not only do they go with a shitty one but they don't even take the time to make small fixes that could help a ton. IE adding a petticoat, putting stiff cardboard in floppy tophats, substituting flimsy fraying bows with decent fabric store ribbon etc.

A couple of my friends want to do the constellation set, but know trying to recreate the designs by hand would not be worth the efgort. We're probably going to get one of the higher quality Taobao/Ali versions and do stuff like add rhinestones on stars and gold embroidery over select spots
>>
>>9247096
Idk,but the person who bought was really not happy about it, understandably
>>
>>9247101
I really want to do the constellation ones but I'll be damned if I'm gonna make all of them for the muse group I'm in. They won't even try to learn how to sew - so annoying
>>
>>9247101
My experience of buying with a group was that we all then spent more money to fix all the crappy issues. So much that for the same money we could have done a better collaborative job from scratch.

It's just so frustrating.

Especially the number of times I've seen cosplay shoes break after two wears, costumes don't fit in all sorts of unflattering ways and getting hit by customs charges!
>>
>>9247101

Custom printed fabric can also get shitass expensive too. You're better getting a fixer upper and picking your battles wisely
>>
>>9247118
Can work really well for big groups though, as you can get discounts for multiple metre purchases. But requires a lot of collaboration.
>>
>>9247117

Depends if you can get a solid collaborative job. The girls I cosplay as with probably wouldn't pick up a needle just to sew a button let alone help make a skirt.
>>
>>9247124
This is the outcry of group cosplays everywhere to be fair.
>>
>>9247101
Thankfully there are a few good Taobao versions out there, and a few places that sell fabric pre-printed for the outfit iirc. I bought one premade from UWOWO's taobao myself and the overall fabric quality was lovely, but god are the accessories flimsy. If you ever end up going with them be sure to sew everything on extra securely and put the beaded parts on new thread as soon as you get them.

What kind of shoes would look better with this cosplay?
>>
>>9247209
Personally would go for little ankle boots, in the same gray the skirt is in. Black would be ok as well but i think gray would be more in keeping with hanamaru
>>
>>9247209
I'd just go with something plain and unobtrusive, flats or low heels (if you're looking to make your legs seem longer or give yourself a bit of height) in a black or brown? Maybe brogue-style shoes would be cute too?

I'd say it's up to you but just don't go too flashy with it.

This group is new to the area, just debuted at Nekocon with their first performance. It was pretty rough, but they just got together a few months ago and did a set of 3 songs, maybe 4? The cosplay was absolutely top notch, looked amazing, and they were all very friendly. Hoping they work really hard as a group and do much much more, even if it wasn't perfect seeing a group perform totally made my weekend.
>>
>>9247647
Congrats to them on their debut! Nice to hear something positive anon, glad you enjoyed seeing them. Though I'm not sure why Honoka isn't wearing the same outfit set as everyone else. Maybe just one of those things where someone's didn't arrive in time or something, but easily fixable. Got any clips?

>>
>>9247771
Looks like she's tried to find something similar.

I think the skirt she's wearing is from the cosplay, so maybe there was a wardrobe malfunction? Or it didn't fit how it was supposed to.
