Actually, I'm looking for outfits that are comfortable enough to walk around during the day, for example, go sightseeing during a trip, go downtown to buy supplies, a busy day at the uni, etc
>>
>>9204189
Do people still run errands these days? Most stuff can be done online, can't it? Other than work and leisure, I only leave the house for grocery shopping and to post the occasional parcel.
>>
>>9204237
Some of us prefer to go out to see our purchases firsthand, or to support local businesses. Congrats on being a shut-in though. Living the dream.

I want to contribute but not inappropriately. I noticed that most of your first coords are using sneakers or basically flat shoes. Is that what you want? I know some people think heels aren't particularly hard to wear out and about but not sure where you stand on this. Would >>9204290 count?
>>
>>9204237
>grocery shopping and to post the occasional parcel

Yes, and those are errands..?

There's still a fair amount of errand-type things that can't yet be done online anyway.
- car licences, road tax
- government bonds, things at the bank that require your signature (you can discuss them with your bank official over the phone and then the "errand" is that you have to come in and physically sign some forms)
- similar follow-up things, like picking up a prescription or your glasses from the pharmacy/optometrist
- etc

Also, not quite an errand you can't do online, but having the pharmacy mail things to me costs postage, whereas I can pick them up in person for free, so naturally I opt to pick up in person. I'd count that as an errand, too.
>>
>>9204260
Well, I care about seeing groceries first-hand because if you order online they palm you off with substandard veg, but I barely buy non-Japanese clothes these days so I can't shop in person. I'm not really a shut-in, although I might be taking the word "errands" way too literally. Errands implies chores and jobs outside the house, right? Rather than fun stuff you do. Stuff like posting a letter, going to the bank, returning a library book. It's that stuff that's becoming obsolete, not shopping, which is more of a leisure activity than an errand unless you're popping in to buy something essential rather than browsing.
>>
>>9204266
Maybe the shoes in the background are new?
>>
>>9204260

I live in bumfuck nowhere and the clothing there is either western or t-shirts.

Unless I am going out to at least hang out for a while I honestly don't see the point of dressing up to buy groceries. It's the equivalent for me of putting on full makeup to get the newspaper. If I'm studying, or going to a cafe, or to the park, sure, but if I'm shopping for groceries or running to the car shop nah.

I agree with >>9204298 that it'd be nice to know, otherwise I'm posting stuff that I'd personally like for a day at Uni or a more casual outing
>>
>>9204308
>>9204301
You are both taking this way too literally. It's a thread for casual jfash that is comfortable and practical. It says so in the OP. "Running errands" is something many gulls like to do while dressed up. If you do not like doing errands while dressed up, then stop focusing on that one part and focus instead on the practical/comfortable aspect.

I was asking bc there was already a general "casual cute fashion" thread and this one is called "outfits to walk around". That can be something different to someone with different levels of comfort. For example, I personally find sneakers harder to walk around in than a simple heel so I just wanted to clarify OP's intent. I don't want to unintentionally derail but I guess maybe this is already doing that.

In some countries you have to take the day off to queue at different places to get anything bureaucratic done. But I do that comfortably in lolita. I'm guessing OP just isn't used to tight fitting clothes and heels

You're welcome, anon! It's so hard for me to get out of cocoon mode and start wearing normal clothing again. Most people in my area wear jeans, sweatpants, leggings or bodycon dresses. They (mostly other women and not men) WILL harass you for wearing things like skirts unless they are cheap bodycon ones you can find at F21.

Living in the south is suffering.

>Living in the south is suffering.
I feel this suffering. I've been in safe mode (jeans and graphic tees) for years and I'm just now starting to work on getting some cute outfits to wear to classes. The first month or so my headphones and vast loud music collection is going to be my best friend to avoid any "Eey girl what'chu all dressed up for?" questions.

I live in the deep south too. It's too hot here to wear anything cute, hoping it'll cool down to something less than Satan's asscrack soon

I never got that sort of negative attention before moving to a city in the south for college, it sucks

And some men's outfits. But there's nothing stopping you from wearing something like this. I like the tomboy look

Yeah, it should be cooling down soon, so hopefully we can wear nice things again. I actually went to uni in a city up north, and I got compliments on my clothes, which were admittedly not so casual and heavily jfash inspired. I would never dare to wear those clothes here.

Oddly enough I went from the city to the rural area and I felt more confident walking down the street dressed up in the city and getting catcalled than I do in hicksville on a small college campus. I guess it's because I can just keep walking in the city while here you see everyone over and over.

>>9205086
You mean you actually see skirts there? I see jeans, sweatpants, and those "Simply Southern" looks of gladiator sandals and overpriced shirts with tiny shorts.

Tiny pic but even this would get some questions on my campus. Only the instructors/staff dress nicely. Though the perk to not liking anyone on campus means I can dress as cute as I want with no fucks given.

You're right. There's the "Cameo is life" style, the "My Uggs smell like they haven't been washed since last year and check out my every day is identical leggings" style, the "I just crawled out from under a motor" style, the "Southern Sorority girl starter pack" style, and my favorite, the "Redneck Fashionista 101" style. >>
>>9207373
Good to know I'm not the only one who hatereads that subreddit from time to time. I also used to check Gomi to watch sad cat ladies snark on cookie cutter fashion bloggers.
>>
>>9207382

And it's not even owning the more crazed out traditions of prepdom, which it claims. It's preppy for the masses in the way even Ralph Lauren never was. Ralph makes a lot of in your face, go to hell stuff. And I wear a lot of RL Polo with my nanchatte stuff. But J. Crew is like... only slightly better than Ann Taylor or Loft or Talbots. Fuuuuck no.
>>
>>9207383
It's so sad though! Once they had a "what would you wear if no one was stopping you" thread and everyone posted such offbeat stuff. Their spirits have been crushed. They are the sad moms they dress as.
>>
>>9207383
Agreed, Gomi is the most pathetic place on the Internet. It's essentially menopausal women shitting on anyone who doesn't dress Ivanka Trump and crying about how much money fashion bloggers make.

People give /cgl/ shit but Gomi is far more snarkier.
>>
>>9207384
From what I've heard j crew's quality has gone way down. You're seriously just paying for the label now which isn't even worth much these days. I went in because my family wanted to go browse and I was definitely unimpressed with the quality to price ratio. Sometimes I gotta dress basic for work life/shit but my stuff is never coming from j crew.

>>9207386
I've seen those kind of threads a number of times and it is quite sad. There is a happy medium between, say, what us jfashion crazies like to wear and the mom uniform. And for god's sake a little color will not kill them. I'm not saying everyone needs to make fashion a priority or anything but I see tons of drab, monotone outfits around where I live and it would just be nice to see people wear something that looks, well, happy for once.

>>9207397
It was fun to read for a while but then it just got depressing and I couldn't do it anymore. It's the same thing again and again. Plus I always found it funny to see a site full of people who can't dress themselves snarking on others' fashion sense. (I suppose there are people who would say the same thing about cgl but from my experience people here criticize for a reason--because they do know what they're doing)
>>
>>9207397

CGL isn't that snarky. The few people who have been asshats, in my view, have roundly been criticised for it, in my view.

Putting GOMI on my "list of places to never visit."

ohh, that feel. It's been too hot to dress cute where I am, but even when it's cooled down, it seems like anything that isn't tees and jeans or leggings with a hoodie warrants unwanted attention. I'm in a fairly boonie part of the Midwest; in spite of it having a uni that draws intl. students, most aren't from East Asian countries, so people dress pretty conservatively and unstylish here anyway.

I wish we could be comfortable dressed up or down without dealing with those dumb and unwanted questions.
>>
>>9207421

Mostly. There's a few sections I think technically that wiggle OTP, and they tend to be conservative. Decatur isn't Atlanta, it's a separate municipality, but it's well inside, fully-so, so it's ITP.

OTP is useful for talking about Atlanta as a Metro Area. Because it's bigger than just the municipality of Atlanta proper.

Also, well ITP, but fuck Buckhead. Even as a prep, those people are snooty mcsnootypants.

Still, being in proximity of a nice area sounds so much nicer than being 6-7 hours away from the closest cosmopolitan center. I used to live in bumfuck Illinois, but at least Chicago was only 2 hours away. Different anon but I'm from rural NC and here you only dress up on Sundays so going out to eat (not that there's any fancy places) on a weekday in a skirt or a dress gets you some comments. Literally the four biggest clothing shops in town are: Walmart, Belks, GoodWill, and Salvation Army.
Most girls either my age or younger show up to church with their husbands in those flowy patterned tunic tops that barely cover their asses with tiny shorts under them and cowgirl boots. One member's granddaughter who's married showed up to Homecoming wearing that and no one but me thought it was crazy.

Normalfag in the South is akin to chav wear. Everyone's either in hoodies, camo (aka hunting gear), or jeans jeans jeans so many damn denim jeans. A pair of jeans plus something that isn't a tshirt equals dressed up.

Southerners are like those gigolo Italians or your typical Spaniard. Though, to be honest, even Europe's worst isn't that bad since the majority of people there have some semblance of taste due to their culture. American values tell you that "looks don't matter" so people dress like shit.
>>
>>9208479

I know this was posted days ago but I flat out don't believe you that heels are easier for you to walk in than sneakers. Like, even if I saw you physically walking perfectly in heels and then stumbling in sneakers, I'd fully believe you were faking it. There is just no way, heels are harder to walk in by every metric. You can like heels more for a variety of reasons and that's fine, but I cannot grapple with the very concept of preferring heels because sneakers are hard for you to walk in. Like, what even could be the problem? Do you not know how to tie shoelaces? Do you become so short without heels that you cannot see over the crowd where you are walking? Do you wear heels so much that when you wear sneakers you constantly forget that there's no heel so you just keep doing the "I thought there was going to be another step at the top of this staircase" thing where you stamp your foot down too hard? Literally what is the meaning of this

unrelated, but I tried to sage this post and it just said "upload failed" so sorry for the OT post guys

my guess is flat arches. Yknow how you're feet aren't flat? IDK about the anon you're replying to, but my arches are flatter than most, so heels are actually more comfortable, since they bend my feet. Like, not a fucking 6-inch heel, but when my feet hurt more than usual, i wear a pair of platforms with a slight heel to them, since sneakers just hurt like fucking shit.

feet are weird, dude

Actually for me it's not a physical thing but a mental thing. I just feel really gross and frumpy and ugly AF without the heel lengthening my legs. Therefore it's uncomfortable for me to feel unattractive when I could otherwise do something simple that helps boost my confidence. (I've even had people comment that my legs/body don't look good in sneakers.) I'm sorry if it's hard for you to understand or if it's not a good reason. I do occasionally wear shoes without a heel but just don't feel great when I do it.

I have a friend who has to wear a slight heel on all her shoes because her calf muscles grew slower than her other leg muscles and ended up a little shorter than they should be. Having a heel to lift the back of her foot makes them the right length again. A 2 inch heel is about perfect for doing that, but she can wear slightly lower ones with a special insole. Completely flat shoes cause her legs to ache.

I mean, if you feel better about yourself wearing heels that's a totally different thing from sneakers being physically difficult to walk in.
Though if you experience the kind of physical pain I experience wearing even 4" heels for a day, I feel like you might want to unpack those insecurities and learn how to wear shoes that are comfy. If you're blessed with no pain receptors in your feet then more power to you girl.

That sounds like some junji ito body horror shit. Props on your friend's weird calves

It's not that I feel no pain, it's that the small pain is relatively small to me compared to the immense discomfort and insecurity I feel when I feel like a fat legged stump without heels. I just ignore the physical pain and walk through it. It's 1000% worth it for me. I don't expect others to agree or sympethize but that's just how I dress myself.

I have no problem with people preferring heels, but the way you explain your reasoning just makes you sound nuts. I think you need therapy anon.
>>
>>9217150
Shrug. Maybe. But on a scale of things, I feel like this is something small since it doesn't actually STOP me from wearing flat shoes. (I just feel a lot less attractive which doesn't even matter that much to my daily life.) I'd rather spend the money for therapy on clothes...or more heels.

>or more heels.
please get help

I know you're joking in response to my joke but I think I'm already over exaggerating / being a drama queen about defending my stupidly outrageous statement from the beginning.
It's late. I should just go to sleep. Didn't expect this to come out of this thread lmao.

>upload failed
Same thing happened to me recently. Are you posting from the website or on an app?
>>
>>9217144
different anon, but it's called hypo extension and it's not that uncommon. from what I understand it happens when you grow a metric fuckton as a kid and your muscles don't quite catch up. I have it, and I agree... I tend to feel more comfortable wearing a slight heel. generally I prefer nice cushioned ones so I don't put too much pressure on the front of my foot.

it only starts to suck when you are a dancer/ice skater/whatever and you can't lock your damn knees properly

Is it just me or does this image look weirdly shooped? Like her face was pasted on, and her shoes too.
