It's been quite some time since we had our last Brolita thread.

Can anyone recommend some blogs that aren't dead or deleted/password restricted and held somewhat up to date? Maybe even with a gothic focus?

Well that's a pity. It seems like the gothic substyle isn't very popular among brolitas at all. But why?
>>
>>9200345
Because whether or not they're actually sissies, most brolitas get into the fashion because they want to dress frilly and girly, and gothic is the least girly of the main three. Why do you think the vast majority of them are sweet?
>>
>>9200352
To garner some kind of attention? I'd, that's just how I see it. I'd love to see more Gothic though.
>>
>>9200352
Yeah, I guess gothic lolita has quite a similar vibe to aristo, which is a more socially-acceptable male choice. Most brolitas probably don't make the jump to dresses unless they like classic or sweet.
>>
Goth also has a male fashion. If you're already into goth, you probably don't have as much of a need to do it again as a gothic lolita. Not a great entry point into lolita.

Meanwhile the normie looks at the sweet lolita and either wants to be a sissie, or wants to look cute. Not many equivalents out there to chocolate and strawberry prints, otherwise we'd all just be ugly looking maids.

I have some questions related to the thread.
Do you prefer the term B-lolita over brolita? would you prefer no distinction between male lolita and female lolita?
I find the term brolita rather new, do you know why the term changed from B-Lolita to Brolita?
>>
Are there any straight guys who do this or is everyone gay? Not even baiting, just wondering
>>
>>9201190
The term brolita's been around since at least teh late 2000's so I wouldn't exactly call it new. I call myself a lolita personally. We don't have fatlitas or blacklitas and I don't really see why the distinction is necessary.

>>9201196
The overwhelming majority of us are straight.
>>
>>9201196
Tbh I only know straight brolitas but I also just call them lolitas...because brolita always sounds like ita to me.
Like if I refer to a male lolita as a brolita it is the same as if I'd call a lolita an ita
>>
>>9201190
That in not a brolita in this pic, JFYI.
>>
>>9200091
My heart is crying, that wig looks so bad... and the headpiece... why...
>>
>>9201190
I call them lolitas because the word isn't gendered and doesn't need segregation. Lolita is a style of clothing.
>>
>>9201190
>would you prefer no distinction between male lolita and female lolita?

Well Mana is the original patron saint of lolita fashion.

I get what you mean, but I have a problem with us using Mana as a sort of golden standard for men wearing lolita because I think his "passing as a lolita" hinges largely on the fact that his personal style is so well-established that it pretty much defined a whole generation of lolitas.

Most of the guys frequenting these threads don't (and probably never will) have the style sense or prestige attached to them to be able to replicate how Mana "passes as a lolita", and it would be easier for them to "pass as a woman" and dress decently. So in that regard I think it's important to point out Mana's shortcomings in terms of "passing".

Also there are a lot of things Mana does I think that if anyone apart from him it we'd immeiately call ita.
>>
>>9203055
Yes, I also think so. I just wanted to point out that him not passing as a girl doesn't make him less of a lolita.

I know so many great crossdressers and some are even into lolita. They look far from mana, but they've learned how to pass either as lolita or as a girl. I think that for a lot of western guys it's difficult to pass as either because of their harsch facial features and the fact that they don't know how to makeup. But listen to me, just train it! You can look great if you really want it! Find a style that suit you and learn the magical girl powers of makeup
>>
>>9203055
>Also there are a lot of things Mana does I think that if anyone apart from him it we'd immeiately call ita
I feel like people often forget he is a musician. When he performed, he wore a costume, it wasn't strictly lolita. Normal lolita would have been boring and unfitting for the Malice Mizer look.

>>9201604

How often do you get the chance to wear a coord?
>>
>>9208028
Currently I'll wear a coord once a month but this month should be twice as I'm going to try to attend a separate meet up to my usual one.
>>
Anyone have experience with burando shoes? I'm thinking of getting some Baby LL sized shoes but I have no idea if they will fit and I doubt they'll let me try it on. Bodyline 260 size kind of fits me but Bodyline has a bad rap.
>>
>>9210404
The craftmanship of Baby's shoes are bad. A friend of mine's fell apart in months. Have you thought of Secret Shop or American Duchess?
>>
>>9210410
Dang, thanks for the heads up. Ideally I'd like to attend a Baby tea party since I've amassed enough Baby shit for a full coord so I'm trying to avoid anything that'd get me denied from that. IDK what their rules are anymore though. It used to be guys had to dress in ouji/aristrocrat or whatever, but now it just says you have to go with a girl. Not sure if the ouji thing is still in place.

I'll check out your suggestions.
>>
>>9210418
You'll be fine. You're over analyzing about the requirements. I wore a full Baby coord minus the shoes and bag to a Baby tea party.
>>
>>9210404
If you're borderline in size, brand shoes will most likely be too tight for you since they sometimes run a bit small. I generally don't have a problem with Bodyline size 250, but AP teaparties size LL are a little too small. Not sure about Baby but I also heard their quality isn't amazing depending on the shoe.
>>
>>9203055
You also have to consider though, Mana doesn't claim to be male or female. Yes, he's fine with male pronouns, but his intention was never to "pass" as a woman. His style is an extension of his identity, and this is reflected in why he named his brand Moi Meme Moitie. He is both masculine and feminine, he doesn't really care if we see him as a girl or is he "passes", he's just doing his own thing.
>>
>>9210698
Good job on missing my point entirely. Mana's intentions are completely irrelevant to whether or not he is a good example for brolitas to emulate.
>>
>>9203055
But at the same time, very few brolitas look up to him? He's a patron saint to pretty much everyone, he's not worshiped because fans think that he's passing, he's worshiped because of his art? I know a lot of brolitas, and of all I know and have ever spoken with, none of them see him as an example for how to pass.
>>
>>9201196
My boyfriend is a brolita. He's bi though but I mean he's dating me and I'm a girl
>>
>>9203055
Also, my first comment that you said I "missed the point of" was in response to: "So in that regard I think it's important to point out Mana's shortcomings in terms of "passing". It wasn't to the whole thing (having issues using mobile so I wasn't able to link it back as a response to that quote)
>>
>>9210404
Both Baby and AP make their shoes (size LL) smaller than Bodyline 260. The shoes from Bodyline are as good as those of Baby and AP.
>>
I have Bodyline shoes at 250 and they are a bit too small, I have Meta boots LL and they are very roomy, I also have Meta shoes size L and they are too small and I have AP boots size L which are comfortable. Shoe sizes are a mess.

Blouses mostly run way too small for me. Is it possible to modify a dress shirt to be more classic lolita by adding ruffles/lace/embellishments?
>>
>>9219677
Unless you have enough sewing knowledge to make heavy alterations or completely reconstruct parts of the garment, then no. Men's shirts and lolita blouses fit very differently. And besides, most dress shirts won't be made in a textile that would be suitable for lolita.

It'd be a lot easier if you looked into stores that offer custom sizing.

its just a way to find certain types of lolitas under search the way i see it.

boy lolitas are tagged as "brolita" fat lolitas are tagged as "plus sized lolitas" and black lolitas are tagged as "black lolitas"

its a way to not only become an inspiration to someone who is into the fashion but discouraged by their own gender/weight/race. or otherwise.

boy lolitas refusing to be called "brolitas" are as stupid as black lolitas refusing to be called "black lolitas"

at the end of the day you're all lolitas, but you have to admit, you are fat/black/male and its downright silly to try avoiding being called such.
>>
>>9226519
It's a useful search term on the Internet yes. But what if I'm fat black and male?
>>
>>9201190
>lolita
B-lolita sounds like poor quality lolita.
>>
>>9226519
After reading that middle sentence, calling other people stupid is perhaps not something you should be doing.
>>
>>9226519
I don't want to be called a brolita because the term has accumulated too many negative associations over the years because of people like BrolitaJenny, Stefonknee, and all the sissy groups on Facebook, and the word itself implies that I'm not a lolita.

I used the examples of "black lolita" and "fat lolita" as contrast because they're both ___+lolita whereas brolita is its own word. I'd have zero problems with "boy lolita" or "male lolita" because I'd at least be acknowledged as a lolita who happens to be male instead of a dude who wears frilly clothes.

The dress would still be short. It just sits lower on your body. There's no "make your jsk longer with this 1 weird trick" thing. I guess you could cover the top with a cardigan or something.

If the straps are too short then the dress might not fit you in the first place?
>>
>>9244986
I am also too tall for the acceptable height, but I wear my JSK's at the lowest setting if the straps can be buttoned low. There have been methods mentioned of making the straps longer in previous threads.
>>
>>9244797
I'm 6 feet tall and this works for me, I know a girl who is 6'1 and it works for her.
however, it WONT work for angelic pretty, that brand hates tall people. but it works for meta, and they have a plus sized section as well- so if you're super tall you don't have to worry about being underweight to fit into clothes
>>
>>9202331
Disgusting
>>
>>9244797
Be careful with adding length through the straps. It changes the proportions of the overall silhouette and lowers the waistline. Even though that will add length, there's also the chance that your torso will look more masculine because you shifted the waistline lower.

IW_102.jpg

>>9244986
You're right. But that's the problem for me. The straps are short, because that specific jsk (IW's 2 tiered tulle lace jsk; pic related) is meant to be worn by someone who is petite. I'm ~167cm tall and judging by the place where the button is sitting, there are around 5-7 cm missing to fit the button into the fabric loop. It's fully shirred and has LOTS of room for people who have a little more ham on their bones. If I place the jsk properly (orient on the bust area so that the extra space for the cup doesn't sit too high), it's not too short on me either. The ham ends slightly above my knees with petti.

>>9245418

Right now I'm trying to resell it without too much loss, but considering it wasn't that cheap and I actually like it, it keeps me thinking about possibilities to still be able to use it.

I even have another jsk now to "replace" my mispurchase and it's fiting me w/o any further problems, but don't like it as much since it is veery heavy (Bttsb Pocket Embroidery in black) and very tight fitting.

Jeez, everything I wanted was a simple black solid piece to start my gosurori adventures without spending too much for it.

>>9245010
>so if you're super tall you don't have to worry about being underweight to fit into clothes

I'm not even a giant with my 5'6''. It's just that the jsk is meant for super small girls which makes it hard to use.

I am probably crying here for no reason since the solution is quite simple (sell jsk -> get new jsk), but finding something similar isn't very easy.
>>
>>9245549
You're a manlet how are you even having these issues?
>>
>>9245549
You're 5 inches shorter than me I don't understand how you have this many issues. Are you built stocky or something?

Your first piece doesn't have to be brand, especially if you're just looking for a simple black jsk.
>>
>>9245851
>You're 5 inches shorter than me I don't understand how you have this many issues Are you built stocky or something?
I guess I'm slightly (just a tiny bit) broader than you'd expect someone in my size. And it's not even fat.

Guess my question sounds more dramatic than it actually is. Sorry for that gulls.

All I wanted to know was, if this "bind the straps behind your neck together" thing was actually legit since the straps of that particiular jsk were slightly too short.

> Your first piece doesn't have to be brand, especially if you're just looking for a simple black jsk.
It's not that I want a brand piece at all costs for this. I looked through alot of different taobao shops and only found a few simple black jsk, even less with actual good reviews. Bodyline has or had a neat range of different styles, but most of the nicer ones are long sold out and rarely offered second hand. But generally I tend to use all sources available.
