did anyone see the comments or get caps before this was taken down? Is there a reason why she posted a photo where she's balled up on the ground?

She won second place in the best coord contest! It was even more beautiful in person, I'm excited for more detailed shots to come out.

Her dress is so flat. It would've balanced out the neck ruffle much better if she had more poof.

The point of the event is to go as OTT as possible. I love seeing the creativity people bring to it. You guys act like this fashion doesn't have roots in a time period where women tried to outdo one another to crazy extents. I can take or leave OTT in general, but let it have its place in this fashion.

>>

There is a difference in wearing OTT Lolita fashion like the OP photo and literally a costume though.

The whole outdoing each other with props and prosthetics is a cosplay mentality.

>>9199514
It wasn't that good though
>>
>>9199318
>You guys act like this fashion doesn't have roots in a time period where women tried to outdo one another to crazy extents.
Not to be pedantic, but lolita actually has roots in entirely different time periods and vintage inspirations than the Rococo era. The Rococo era is iconic because it got tacked on by Novala Takemoto for Kamikaze Girls and a nostalgia for that past was a major part of why Momoko likes lolita, but the fashion was fully-formed before Novala ever made that connection (the novel didn't come out until 2002 and the book until 2004).

Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate good OTT, but it's more accurate to say that inspiration from the rococo era was a big turning point in the development of the fashion than that it was part of its origin.
>>
>>9199115
I think the prosthetics and accessories are pretty cool but without them, the coord is bland and honestly not good. IMO if you're going to do costume lolita you need to make sure the lolita base is solid before you start adding stuff on.
>>
>>9199115
The coord deserved the win, really surprised at how salty some of ya'll are. It's not even that costumey compared to some of the stuff last year

>>
>>9199877
I would say the trend toward natural hair has been going on for the past 3-4 years after OTT sweet and everyone and their cat had a split color wig and no one wanted to look at them anymore, where have you been?
>>
>>9200073
I have been around. Most girls in my comm wear a wig and nearly every CoF post I sse is someone with a wig
>>
>>9199115
I voted for her. The fact that she's really small helped her fairy theme, and not that I think about it is probably why she didn't go for a bigger petticoat. Most dresses would go way past her knees.
>>
>>9200073
natural COLORED hair has been big for a while now. actual natural hair is new

>>
>>9199115
>ugly ass elf ears
>vampire teeth
>pointy shoes
>twigs on her head with teeth glued on
>derpy front bow
>wig cap peaking through bangs

That staff is nice though.

Seriously though what was her theme here, it just doesn't look cohesive. She looks like a hot mess of teeth and pointy things. Even for OTT this is terrible, y'all should've picked OP, she's at least put together properly.
>>
>>9199115
The more subtle toothfairy coord at OTT was better in terms of being both visually interesting and not costume-tier but this is good if you ignore the ears and relax the expectations of the silhouette
>>
>>9199829
honestly youre kinda right but still its ill fitting as hell
>>
>>9200168
I know it's supposed to be kinda a joke, but I actually sincerely love this.
>>
>>9200189
No. Actually, that outfit strayed away from "tooth fairy" and looked more nurse Kei than anything. I'm glad the ivory toothfairy won because she put more effort into her outfit than the other girl.
>>
>>9200162

>>9200238
>>
>>9200226
>>9200226
I doubt she put less effort in. Those teeth were all handmade.

I know it's a competition but it's kind of dumb to say someone "deserved" to win more than anyone else. They both looked great, clearly put a lot of effort into their outfits, and that they came up with the same theme bur executed them completely differently is actually super cool.
>>
>>9200242
end
>>
>>9200232
is this J et J masquerading as lolita again? It's visually stunning, but not lolita
>>
>>9200238
Her shoes are so cute and add a ladylike touch to a vintage inspired coord. All the vibrancy of tea parties with the refinement of oxfords.
>>
>>9200247
i think in that example it actually looks plenty lolita but that is just my opinion.
>>
>>9200243
Mmmm then it would also be dumb to say that she was "better" than the tooth fairy who won. Unless if you're the guro nurse and just mad because you thought your idea was going to be original? I don't know.
To be perfectly honest, both of their coords were super costumey anyway. But if I had to chose from the two, the tooth fairy who won is better because of all the effort that was put into it.
>>
>>9200247
Wtf? This is definitely Lolita
>>
>>9200168
this is so cool!
>>
>>9200268
Nope, and I'm also not the person who said that it was better. I had just heard that she had spent a long time making parts of her outfit, so saying it was less effort is simply untrue.
>>
>>9200300
>I heard this thing in passing that contradicts your argument so you're wrong
Not even who you're replying to but your argument is outright retarded. No matter how much time the other tooth fairy claims she spent working on her outfit, there's no way it took more time than a custom prosthetic with dozens of handmade teeth. Either you're 15 years old and don't understand logic, or you're just jealous you didn't win.
Either way, this whole conversation should be in the OTTea thread instead, so I'm going to make a couple quick CoF comments to keep this post relevant.
>>9200168
I want to say this is dumb, but the fact that she's now a walking itabag is kind of fantastic.
>>9200161
This just doesn't make sense. Also, the way those tights are dyed unevenly is really annoying.
>>9198974
This is gorgeous. The colors are balanced perfectly. Also a perfect example of using your natural hair in lolita.
>>
>>9200351
>other guro coord

>>
>>9200226
>glad the ivory toothfairy won
Not the person you replied to but did you even read? They said they liked the guro nurse more cause it was less ott BUT THE ONE THAT WON WAS GOOD MINUS THE SHAPE + EARS in their opinion . What is the point in saying 'no' to an opinion that just doesn't match yours?
>>
>>9199877
>>9198968 here, I just wanted to clarify that mine is actually a wig in this photo, but I agree with your point that natural styling has definitely become more favorable in recent years, now that the community has transitioned out of the OTT sweet craze as it existed back in the early 2010's.

Are you sure? On what planet are these the same fashion? J et J needs its own 'vaguely historically influenced dramatic mishmash' label.
>>
>>9200247
The thing with J et J is that it's not lolita as it is imo, it needs to be layered with underskirts and frilly blouses to evolve into its lolita form.

>>9200242
>>9200916
This girl always wears offbrand. And that's a blouse and skirt not an op
>>
>>9200968
What is lolita about it besides the otks and the mildly A-line skirt? It was for an otome brand event and I'm happy to call it otome, but labeling it lolita as well is just wrong. If this is lolita then everyone wearing A-line dresses with cardigans from H&M is lolita as well.

>>9201030
>>9201047
Alright then, what do you think makes something lolita? Not all lolita things are frilly and covered in bows-- plenty of classic brands produce things that are really simple and historically inspired and I hardly ever see people piss and moan about them not being lolita. Look at VM, MM, etc.

This VM dress is very simple, a relatively small a-line and would still be totally wearable outside of the context of lolita. Would you argue that it isn't lolita? Lots of lolita clothing pulls very directly from different historical periods so I'm not sure how that makes JetJ any less lolita.

Unless it's because they sometimes pull from periods other than the rococo and Victorian ones that folks have such boners for.
>>
>>9201074
I think the issue that most people have with JetJ painting dresses is that most of them don't have any detail outside of the print. The JSK you posted has pleats, gathers, and bows that are arranged on a dress in a way that is pretty conventional to lolita, whereas >>9200232 is a plain dress with a box pleated skirt. JetJ takes a pretty minimalist approach to the cuts of their painting dresses, and often it strips off so much dress detailing that people begin to question whether it counts as lolita at all.
>>
>>9201074
I actually like J et J, but a lot of their things aren't 100% lolita. In this case I would say the VM dress is lolita, because of the details on the chest area and trim.

J et J produce really pretty things, but in the past few years they've put out print after print with hardly any construction details. I miss their old styles, they were the king of classic lolita to me.
>>
>>9200968
Do some research, its not lolita.

>>
>>9200968
if I'm not mistaken, this was worn to a pepfox meet... which is an otome indie brand... so it's unlikely she thought it was lolita either.

Not the anon you replied to, and actually I also mostly think of JetJ as a lolita brand only because you can at least count on the dress being able to fit a petticoat and can be styled lolita 99.99% of the time.

However, I don't really agree with judging how lolita a piece is by how much detailing it has. I feel like you'd have to throw out a few of IW's dresses, maybe even moitie for being similarly simple.

JetJ probably gets more attention for being almost non-lolita because unlike IW or Moitie, they aren't really sticking to tried-and-true formulas of what we know to be lolita. I guess they do often end up producing things that are barely lolita, or require ten other frilly things before looking lolita, but on the other hand I can kinda appreciate a brand doing some exploring and not just making the same-old-same-old dresses.
>>
>>9200161
why is that guy always covered in blood?
>>
>>9201246
By that logic, every ita who wearing a skater dress with a petticoat underneath is wearing lolita because they mean for it to be that way. And I never said JetJ wasn't lolita, I just pointed out why I think people might say they aren't.
>>
>>9201265
I think some people are so used to seeing one way of lolita(AP?) they question everything that looks different
>>
>>9199115
so much costume. If this was the winner then way too many people are treating this fashion as a costume/cosplay. Gross, really. But yeah apparently OTT means costume by now. Expect lots of cosplayers coming next years.

honestly, it's very annoying that there are only two big styles of lolita feedback out there: the hugbox "everything looks great!!" mentality, and the humorously stringent "follow all of the guidebook rules, plus a bunch I just made up or you look like trash" group. it doesn't allow for any positive movement in the fashion because all of the experimental people are getting hardly any feedback at all and the people with more taste are hunkering down on more and more specific outlines of lolita.

I'm going to wear that obnoxious batwing head dress too, just to make it better.

it will be like Christmas with kawaii Dracula. my dream.
>>
>>9201123
There is a disproportionate amount of 'this is not lolita' being thrown around. You must be on the spectrum if you can't recognize that lolita is a spectrum.
>>
>>9201628
listen, I'm just as sick of the lolita-police as the next person. really. but otome is its own style, not just Lolita's where you toss petti-less lolita & mini skirts. and the fact that people were crying about something not being lolita at an otome brand meetup was irritating me.

>sage because I think we have the same issue
>>
>>9201628
>Lolita is a spectrum

You'd know a lot about spectrums, wouldn't you?
>>
>>9201597
do it anon. seriously, some gold accessories to accent the zippers, a christmas coord would be beautiful.
the bat wings are so small, and are attached to the candelabras, which get most of the focus. there's just one salty anon in here, but luckily, there's no need to dress to please them!
>>
>>9200246
Why isn't she wearing legwear?
>>
>>9201385
same anon. the right picture looks so much like margo that it scared me a little.

>>9201328
one of my cosplayer friends is already starting to get into lolita because she treats ott as sakizou-lolita mishmash costumes. i can definitely see cosplayers start to get into lolita for the ~e-fame~ (although there isn't much to be had).

>>

Are you kidding? I've seen so many white girls get away with mediocre hair just because it's semi-straight. It's like they don't know what a straightener or curling iron is. Or a fucking brush.
>>
>>9201655
Already made that joke anon.
>>9201652
It was posted to COF, Otome has it's own thing on FB. One would naturally assume one thing or another about the intentions of the girl. I know Pep is otome, but plenty of lolitas love and wear it. Wishing I didn't pick this particular image to soapbox, but do you at least see my point?
>>

They're trying to pretend like "white girls don't get away with stuff like tights that are near skin color! Wah!" I'm pointing out that white girls get away with even worse shit, like their entire hairdo.

>>

Why would I leave almost the same comment twice
>>
>>9202402
This is 100% the reason why people complain lolita is OTT mostly or not daily wear any more
>>
>>9202509
it's not like it started out as being simple/everyday wear, so I don't know what you mean by "anymore".
>>
>>9202529
no, but it didn't start out as being a once-a-month near costume either. it was a street fashion, one changed into in public restrooms and worn with regularity. no one's taking away your precious madonna veils and scepters, just let us enjoy wearable coords.
>>
>>9202530
go ahead, but when people say it's boring then dont get butthurt if the style has never been about being boring. people changed into it in public restrooms because it was so extravagant compared to normal clothes, not because they just wanted to wear a different' "everyday wearable" outfit.
>>
>>9202532
You know nothing about the history of lolita do you? Like nothing.
>>
>>9202401
If you're going to wear a normie cardigan with lolita (or otome or whatever she's going for), at least make sure it fits. I can forgive some awkward fit with Japanese brand items that only come in one size but you can find plain cardis like that everywhere, so why not go a size or two up?
>>
>>9202404

I'm not a fan of this girl after the rolling around in the craft aisle episode. But I have to admit her more toned down coords have been really nice
>toned down in comparison to what she normally wears
>>
>>9202532
Agreeing with the other anon. The origin of the fashion wasn't crazy OTT. It was pretty "everyday wearable". Do some research.
>>
>>9202551
I'm not talking about crazy OTT. But I'm talking about more than just "everday wear" like "bow and plain but kinda poofy dress". Old school definitely didn't look as boring as the outfit they were talking about.
>>
>>9202406
very nice concept for OTT hime
>>
>>9202652
i blame prints. old school, even in its most basic pseudo-ita forms, tends to have more visual interest due to construction and design elements rather than brightly-colored prints. other fashions also use colorful prints, but few fashions outside of lolita have the distinctive trims and flourishes.

prints have mostly replaced the "pintucks and lace" of yore, though. the coord in question is an acceptable casual coord in the new style but not really taste.
>>
>>9202547
there's a bow on the sleeve. I'm pretty sure it's brand (probably etc or something otome and sized for ants)

at that point, though just buy an off brand cardigan. it's not like you can't find ones with cute details
>>
>>9202406
i hope the bag wasn't part of her coord and she happened to be hanging on to it at the time
>>
>>9199115
I love this concept so much as the idea of the 'tooth fairy' im assuming the tea part is suppose to be OTT anyway and its so close to halloween why is there so much rotten teeth over this coord?
>>
>>9199115
I feel the bandage over the edge was a cop out as she couldn't get it to blend well.
Otherwise I just think it looks disgusting and isn't part of the lolita spirit/asthetic. Maybe guro lolita, but that's as much of a thing as ero. Neither of which should win a coord contest imo. Was this popular vote and not actually judged?
>>
>>9202406
I love this! Very original and good execution. My one criticism would be a more organized and thoughtful headpiece. A flower crown with butterflies might have been a better choice.
>>
>>9202435
>>9202407
i refuse to believe anyone actually feels this way
>>
>>9202670
Brands still put out plenty of detailed printless dresses though.
>>
>>9202840
Yet we're talking about one brand specifically that has switched to producing dresses that only feature a print, with very little construction detail.
JetJ doesn't make pintucks and lace their key features anymore.
Are they really lolita, or are they expensive normie cut dresses? Sure the prints are cool, but a print isn't everything, and lolita is not just about the print you have.
>>
>>9202925
I just got into this scene but I'm starting to think that my hatred of prints and pastel decorations is making me a mixture of sweet and classic. I just find plain colored dresses with beautiful construction so much more elegant that OTT prints.
>>
>>9202406
This is an absolute pleasure to see. Something unique and beautiful and not too out of the rules too
>>
>>9202406
I like the idea that she was going for, but I don't think that it was executed very well. There's no orange in the legs/shoes when it's fairly even istributed everywhere else, and the butterflies on her head don't quite math the overskirt.

And I can't quite pinpoint what it is, but it also feels like the coord is missing something...
>>
>>9202925
I think another big part of it is border print vs overall print. JetJ is sometimes just a clusterfuck mishmash of colour
>>
>>9202529
It started out as a street fashion, not special occasion wear
>>
>>9202652
>But I'm talking about more than just "everday wear" like "bow and plain but kinda poofy dress". Old school definitely didn't look as boring as the outfit they were talking about.
It did often look that basic, maybe you just haven't seen a lot of those coords because why would a magazine have street snaps of a boring coord
>>
>>9203110

coord is just casual, it's fine, not good, but okay because it's casual. But it's just her face is 'off' actually I think. And maybe she needs to wear something around her wrists, those arms/hands aren't really pretty desu.

Last time she was posted the thread became derailed by anon(s) who decided that she looked too smug and fatties shouldn't smile. I'm not one to call vendetta easily but I think in this case it applies.
>>
>>9203437
Highly doubt it's the case now since she is not being called fat (even though she is). I also feel unpleasant because of her expression. It's like shes not enjoying lolita and just wanted to post a picture for attention. I don't like those kinds of people (even though I have never met her and could be wrong about this).
>>
>>9203450
I really don't see any smugness, but that could be because I do know her IRL and she's not a smug or arrogant person at all. If anything she's a bit of a country bumpkin' insofar as our country has those.
>sage for derailing
>>
>>9203399

>>9203457
Definitely vendetta. I don't know this girl well but it's common knowledge that a girl was banned from our comm after making death threats towards her and other members. The other girls have also gotten very odd things said about them on cgl as well.
>>
>>9203472
I am a part of this community and I know this is a lie. No one received death threats. Just a bunch of autistic people throwing shit at each other. It was already disproven that this "banned" girl had anything to do with the posts in the other thread since she was literally under anesthesia and afterwards in the hospital for a full week. I can't imagine her giving a single fuck considering she is the one who broke of the friendship (chat logs are available on her website and Facebook).

I for one think that this Jill looks like she just sniffed dogshit and that literally has nothing to do with her personality. She is a pathetic individual and I imagine she would be the same kind of person to throw rape accusations around to anyone who gets in her way.
>>
>>9203484
THIS. FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT.
>>
>>9203484
Then why is she "banned", are the mods of your comm so incompetent?
>>
>>9203472
It is true that literally anyone who accused this girl of anything has a diagnosis of autism or a personality disorder. In a horrible community like this, who even knows what really happened and isn't it a blessing to not be a member of such a community? These are important philosophical questions.
>>
>>9203489
Theres a chat log between a moderator and this person. The moderator expected this girl to proof she didn't make death threats, something that can not be proven as you can not prove a negative. At most there was namecalling, else the police would have gotten involved.
