Oh my god yes. I wish more people cosplayed characters from Laika films. My friend and I are planning on making the sisters from Kubo, but at the moment it's almost impossible to find a clear picture of their outfits.

I believe Laika help in the production of The Corpse Bride and people from the studio probably worked on NMBC too, seeing how small the stop-motion world is.

Yeah, I've mainly been looking at their models! Seriously thinking of getting the art book as well. I'd love to support their studio somehow, plus it'd probably have some good references in it.

Yep! Seems like it's on sale at book depository.

I'm looking forward to seeing Kubo cosplayers hopefully popping up at cons. That movie had such unique characters and nice details in their outfits, it seems like something cosplayers would have a lot of fun with.

Generally self absorbed taken to a bit of an extreme.
Example: She entered these two particular costumes in SDCC's masq the year that Crabcat entered with their Mass Effect costumes. She WOULD NOT STOP BITCHING about how she didn't win, blah blah, animationics and lights and electrical wiring is such a cheap trick, blah blah, they don't know how much tailoring I put in to this (she didn't really do shit), blah blah, it's all because my friend picked out such shitty paint, if it weren't for her I would definitely have won, as I should have.
This went on for weeks at school. Her tailoring skills were just okay at best, on par with most of the other kids in her class regardless. Also had a strange martyr complex, but that's more of a personal thing.

Man this thread makes me more excited about making the sisters cosplay! I already have an idea on the cape and even try to go for pipe that actually releases smoke.

I found a Kubo cosplayer on tumblr who used a yarn wig to mimic the style of the movie. I can understand the reasoning, but it didn't really translate well at all.

Im trying to figure out if I should put Erosion netting on top of the black fabric for the sisters' undershirt because I noticed that it looks like its been netted judging by the ref pic.

To me it looks more like the way tatami is braided, not exactly a net. I can try to find the exact material/name for you! My father should know.

But I think the only way to get it perfect would be by handmaking it so the net is fine too.
