I want Magic Amulet. Do both of the JSK's have shirring? It's really dark in the photo to me.
>>
>>9186933
Does anyone know when Rabbit Letter is getting released?
>>
>>9186936
The regular definitely does, the long is too dark on my screen to tell as well, but AP's JSKs usually have shirring
>>
>>9186967
>>9186936
I just got the unshirred jsk of Astro Regimen. This jsk kind of looks similar, there's a triangle design on the back of mine that I thought was shirring until the release
>>
>>9186972
Oh my god, stop. I'm starting to think you own Kawaii Goods and this is some sort of pathetic marketing attempt. It won't work, you're just engendering contempt for it.

This reminds me a lot of Milky Cross and I think it looks nice. I wonder if the JSK's actually much longer like it is on the model.
>>
>>9187067
Are there any full photos of the lavender color?
>>
>>9190423
I know there's going to be "UGH CROSSES AP" but this is actually how you do it right. The whole theme is pretty lacy crosses instead of just being tossed in randomly into something like a mermaid or strawberry print. Looking forward to this one as well.

What colorways are everyone interested in?
>>
>>9190423
Milky Cross grown up version? The art seems actually very nicely done and non childish (mind you I'm a fan of childish AP, but they've done way too many busy and shoehorned cross prints by now)

>>
I just wanna know when Rabbit Letter is happening. Also how crazy are IW releases? Are they as bad as AP ones?
>>
>>9190912
When it's something really coveted, it's much worse due to the VIP system. If the Japanese girls love it, they'll buy it all out before it's available to the general public. Everything else will take some months to sell out until the sales hit.
>>
>>9190922
Is the VIP available to non-japanese lolitas? I don't see any mention of it on the English site.
>>
>>9190922

>>9190922
Is Rabbit Letter coveted in Japan? Or have the Japanese girls stopped caring about it?

Legitimate question: Why is JetJ so much better at their highly detailed prints? What is this shiny fabric even supposed to be for AatP?

Ive known about Atelier Boz for awhile but just now really getting into them. I mainly wear sweet and AP but certain darker styles have grown on me. I want to expand my horizons a bit.

I never hear news about their releases, how often do they do items and where do they post this? I follow their FB and see them post but I dont know if its images they are just posting for fun like "hey look at these items we sell!!" or if they are actually new releases. Also what is the difference between BOZ and Lapin Agill
>>
>>9191057
length and sizing primarily. Lapin tends to be shorter and cuter
>>
>>9191057
I follow a Tumblr for releases.
>>
>>9191057
It varies. There's no set pattern to frequency of releases. Just check the site frequently, and follow the blogs. They don't do international shopping so you'll need a shopping service. Pay attention though to the sizing guides as their sizing can be fairly inconsistent, varying from tiny to generous. Their blouses are great. Lapin Agill is their more lolita style, cuter stuff, while Boz is the more mature side, catering more to 'Aristocrat' styles. They do really nice, simple one pieces and jsls at times.
>>
So excited for this. Shame they discontinued the blue colourway, it was my favourite.
>>
New To Alice dress.
>>
>>9191668
Out of all the dresses I can say someone who dresses in lolita should consider being married in, this is the absolute only one. The others are ruffle monsters and look fucking horrible.

>>
>>9192632

>>
>>9192857

Not that anon, but I'm not that impressed either.

I mean you can see her fringe casting a shadow over her face that makes her look puffy and tired, when irl I'm sure she's a very pretty girl. I thought the trim on the dress looked cheap until I looked closer and saw that it's actually venise lace and tulle lace. That said, the venise lace appears to be eyelet that's not threaded, the hem looks so messy, that ruffle looks super shiny, and I'm pretty sure there's at least two different whites on her dress, neither of which appear to match the beige choker. At this point I'm not even sure if it's bad photo or bad design.

It isn't really a big deal, like it's no lower than mid-tier taobao brand, and no one would shit on it except that some nooblet decided to proclaim this as the only decent lolita wedding dress out there. Like, really? Out of all the white lolita dresses you chose this meh-tier dress over better releases from Haenuli, Lady Sloth, St Tears, Dear Celine, etc? Yeesh.
>>
>>9187209
I'm pretty sure that pink is an option. Brown is one as well even if not show on the preview.

Thanks so much for the responses anons! Its really great to know. I'm really in love with this style of jacket they do (the womans one). And after looking through their items, I really like their overall style.
>>
>>9192931
You're welcome. The Roland jackets are a staple release of theirs. Every year they put out a standard fabric version, and a annual variant, with both styles coming in long and regular lengths. Watch out though for the ladies sizing. The waist measurements can run very small, with the sizing varying a bit release to release, and even between the standard and yearly variant. Usually the waist runs to about 65-67cm on the waist itself, so you might need the men's size and get it altered. The shoulders are also quite small. The biggest annoyance is that Boz tend to not list the waist measurements on coats and dresses, so you might need to ask your SS to check with Boz. Don't worry though the styles are the same between the mens size and ladies size, it's just size and cut adjustments for figure.

>>
>>9194148
To Alice makes a lot of super tacky weeaboo shit too though, so if a newbie is having trouble distinguishing real lolita from anime/cosplay lolita sending them to To Alice is just going to confuse them further.
>>
>>9194336
diff anon, but it's not like bodyline is any better.

just send them to the comm sales. they aren't perfect, but they are less (emphasis on less) likely to find weeb trash if a different lolita already bought it. plus at this point used quality lolita shipped domestically is cheaper than new crap lolita
>>
>>9194320
Yes you're doing it wrong and you need to be careful because people will beat the shit out of you for it here.

Anyways you need to use a shopping service to get it. There are some how tos over on the taobao thread which are pretty helpful. Pick the shopping service you like and then place an order for it through them. I also don't believe the dress id available yet which may also be part of your problem.
>>
>>9194320

>>
>>9194360
Thanks anon!

Yeah- I checked where it said customs and releases and it wasn't there.
I've looked at the taobao general info so I'll go there when it's time to order.

Last question about it, promise. So should I just keep an eye out on this store for the next few weeks for the release or is there a set date?

Thanks for the info~
>>
>>9194359
>plus at this point used quality lolita shipped domestically is cheaper than new crap lolita
Not when it's from a Taobao brand, To Alice's dresses usually only something around 30 bucks and get shipped with airmail for $17 (speaking from my own experience), that's $47 for a new dress.
>>
>>9194368
There isn't a set date so you could either follow it on the store or join lolita updates and subscribe to the post (which is much easier). To subscribe to a post just click on the right and select to be updated on it. No need to comment on it for updates its super annoying.
>>
>>9194373
Yeah, $47 for a dress thats shoddy quality.
>>
>>9194402
But girls in the west tend to be stingy and sell at higher prices on the secondhand market. That's part of why people buy even secondhand from Y!Japan auctions despite the high shipping. Ordering secondhand as a newbie is difficult too because you can't easily return stuff anf there's the fear of getting something with unlisted damage.

Again, To Alice lolita would be higher quality than, or at least on par with, good Bodyline. And To Alice comes out with new designs pretty frequently, so it's not like Bodyline where everyone instantly knows where your dress came from.

A newbie could do $47 with plenty left over for shoes, a blouse, legwear, headwear and accessories or spend about $120 just for a more recently released (aka in style right now) secondhand brand dress on Lacemarket. Both are decent options but it's a matter of personal preference.
>>
>>9194496
>navigating taobao is easier than buying secondhand

I don't think you're wrong in that you could buy more from taobao, but if we are talking about ease I'd say western comm sales (particularly though lace market) are way easier.
>>
>>9194173
Anon would you mind reviewing it briefly, or point me to a review if there's any? Seeing this first time and would love to see it worn by buyers!
>>
>>9194504
>but if we are talking about ease I'd say western comm sales (particularly though lace market) are way easier.
Shipping costs, if you buy overseas, on the other hand...

>>9194160
Both cuts will be released for the jsk?
>>
>>9194149
Yolanda makes me think of the ghetto. Cute dress though.
>>
>>9194148
We shouldn't recommend bodyline or to alice. One of the main problems with newbies is that you can tell their main piece is cheap. They can't tell which items from to alice or bodyline are useful wardrobe fillers and which are weeby crap. They should start with (secondhand) burando so they can see for themselves what the quality should be and learn to appreciate that important part of the fashion, and as a bonus they'll be exposed to less weeby costume shit.
>>
>>9194504
Yeah, I'd agree it is the easiest option. But if you're buying secondhand, the Japanese secondhand market has better deals despite being inconvenient to purchase from. Buying from Taobao can be just as easy a process as buying from Lace Market if you use sites like My Lolita Dress or Glitzy Wonderland, but they charge more than an actual shopping service.

Pretty much it's a matter of cost = quality (good, mid, bad) + convenience (simple ordering process vs complex) + risk (secondhand vs new). Shopping services like Bhiner and SpreeNow are pretty intuitive imo but I know how intimidating it can be to a newbie.
>>
>>9194604
For the dedicated newbie who wants to wear the fashion seriously, I'd recommend secondhand older non-print brand or good quality Taobao.

But there's a reason Bodyline is so popular. I know few lolitas who haven't owned a skirt or JSK from Bodyline at some point. We can recommend newbies drop more cash for better quality until we're blue in the face, but people accustomed to fast fashion will always be drawn to bargain prices. Let's at least have better recommendations to offer than Bodyline.

I think we can all agree that Bodyline is shit for the price except during the birthday sale. To Alice has better prices AND better quality (as in their stuff doesn't feel like you're wearing fucking cardboard), though it's definitely not brand-tier.
>>
>>9194621
so how much is To Alice paying you for all this plugging? If we're pointing newbies away from Mr. Yan then at least point them to more than just To Alice (which I would hesitate since like others said way too much weeb shit).

I really appreciate your direction earlier. I requested to join but I might not get accepted, my facebook does not look very Lolita.

I made a FB so I could join groups like this and hopefully gain some insight before buying my first Dress/putting together a coord. I've been meaning to for some time, I deleted my last one because my family is very snoopy and generally posts a bunch of dramu.

I've been on cgl for years and always adored Lolita and Jfash but my family was super against it. I've recently reached a point in my life where I can afford it and wear it now and again. Are there any other groupd you can recommend? I also requested to join Lolita sales worldwide. I'm in Tennessee and I don't see any lolitas around here, not sure if we have a community lol.
>>
>>9194858
You probably will with that one, but the sales one might be a toss up. Closet of Frills, Rufflechat, and Rufflechat uncensored I'd also recommend. Also look at the comm thread here to see if there are comms in Tennessee. I'm pretty sure there are.

You know that this is more than one anon? Just saying and To Alice just happens to quite popular, even in Japan (Candye Syrup and Qun.to are the official resellers besides few others, that's why you can find some of their stuff in streetsnaps).

Here's a picture I just took of it worn (sorry for potato quality + wrinkles with poorly tied bow).

It's great quality. Stitching is tight, ruffles evenly gathered. The fabric is chiffon that's a little sheer, so it has a built-in slip. The zipper in the back is invisible so it's a bit difficult to pull up by yourself. The sleeves and neck are made of a shimmery and soft material.

All of the lace is darling. There are five kinds, and my favorite is the thick rose lace around the collar. The layer of lace at the hem is very soft and pretty, though it seems like they forgot to cut some of the threads connecting the flower motifs on a part of the lace that is hidden by the ruffle (if that makes sense). So quality of the actual materials is good, but quality *control* may be a little hit or miss. From the crappy Google Translate of the order page, it seems they are using different lace on parts of it for this go round.

In real life it's a little more peachy and bright than the stock photos, though they're using a different color fabric for the ivory this time around- so keep that in mind.

All in all, it was entirely worth the price I paid for it. Love the design, love the materials.
>>
>>9194879

Kate was in the streetsnaps too, and we still hate her, though.

Not the anon you responded to either, but I also think the enthusiasm for ToAlice is a little bit much. I've seen a few ToAlice dresses reviewed in the taobao threads and was generally not impressed, I'd assume the rest of cgl has too, which is why we have no patience for some newb who wants to rant and rave about it. Been there, done that. Next.

Let's not be obtuse. Saying To Alice is a good cheap starter store doesn't mean To Alice is godtier quality. I haven't seen horror stories about them yet.

At least make some progress in this conversation by suggesting alternatives in Bodyline's price range ($20-$60) instead of belaboring the point that To Alice is nowhere near burando level.

On that note, I discovered V-Castle just released the JSK pictured for fucking 155 RMB. If I liked sweet I'd be all over this.
>>
>>9195101

Thanks anon! this looks beautiful
>>
>>9195214
Goddamn it anon, stop enabling me
>>
>>9195214

The only one who said To Alice was god-tier is the noob that keeps plugging it. Everyone else is simply not impressed and said so. Just because we're not impressed doesn't mean we're out to cut a bitch, we're simply not impressed.

Alternatives were suggested, secondhand brand via lacemarket or taobao resellers such as Glitzy in Wonderland or My Lolita Dress. At least you won't have to hold their hand and answer their 101 questions about how to taobao. Pretty much all of the lack of progress is thanks to those that keep insisting To Alice is somehow a good suggestion for newbies, ignoring that none of us want to deal with sticky noobs coming back to ask "how do i taobao, what is a shopping service, how do i preorder, it says 3 months preorder but I paid yesterday where is my dress", etc etc. What the hell, I'm not going to recommend this brand because it's not a good choice and I'm not some free service that hangs around to teach noobs how to taobao. Go plug it to your followers on your own time.

Fresh content, I thought folks might want to see what the bat headdress from >>9192800 looks like when worn.
>>
>>9194621
Learning how to use taobao takes just as much effort as learning how to buy brand for less than 50usd
>>
>>9195221
It's multiple anons "plugging" To Alice. I'm actually the one who wrote those alternatives to highlight the fact you need to comprise on one thing or the other when choosing between stores/markets.

I specifically want recs for other cheap Taobao stores, like V-Castle. Another is Neverland Lolita, pictured is new (I think?) and 325 rmb.
>>
>>9195229
50usd brand would be riskier both because you'd be bidding on an auction, hence winning isn't assured (that's really the only way you'll find brand that cheap unless it's ugly/damaged), and because you likely can't return it since it's secondhand.

Personally, using FromJapan to bid on the one item I found interesting after clicking through scores of pages of auctions is more difficult than pasting a link to something cute I found on Lolita Updates into SpreeNow's search bar.
>>
>>9195229

The mechanics of buying off lacemarket is easier to figure out than explaining to a newbie how to search taobao, how preorders work, how to find a SS, currency conversion and so on, though.

You might as well say learning which taobao brands are worth spending money on is as difficult as learning which brand pieces are worth the money.

>>9195230

You can sort through the dresses on MLD from cheap to expensive. Then take note of the cheaper dresses' brandnames, plug it into google plus the word "taobao", to find their taobao store, and then go through the shops from there.

If you aren't already following the lolitaupdates facebook group, it's a good way to keep up with new taobao releases. The pain with taobao is that even a lot of the cheap stores operate on preorder basis.

Other cheaper taobao stores: Boguta, Strawberry Witch, CMloli, Miss Point.
This dress from Rococo Soul is 355 rmb, dunno if that meets your definition of cheap. I'm not a fan of their quality, but I'm not a fan of To Alice quality either, so make your own judgement call, I suppose.
>>
>>9195221
Goddamnit AP that looks downright retarded.
>>
>>9195250
I actually was eyeing this dress, could you tell me why you don't like their quality? I don't want to drop money on it if the brand isn't at least decent for taobao
>>
With some of the discussion going on here this thread starts to feel too much like another lolita general. Let's just talk about new releases
>>
>>9195273

I bought the map dress. The fabric was really stiff and the two side pockets really shallow. These were the only two things, but it was enough that I ended up not wearing the dress much at all. I'm a daily Lolita so the comfort of the dress matters a great deal since I wear a lot of my dresses for whole days, not just a two-hour meetup. The stiffness of the fabric made it a bit difficult to style as well, it's bit similar to Bodyline in that you had to get the petticoat just right or it looks a little odd.

Construction wise, it's pretty solid, insides were professionally finished.the accessories were great, too, but my hat was a different colour than the listing. You might luck out with a softer fabric this round, I believe the jam fabric they used for another release wasn't as stiff as the map fabric. I'd rather just stick to brands that are more reliably comfortable though.

>>
>>9195273
Different anon here. I've had two Rococo Soul dresses and ended up selling both as well. The first was their weekday gingham dress, which was comfortable but the cut wasn't optimal on me. Construction was fine, it would've been a good beater dress if it had worked out.

The second was the strawberry jam ripoff dress and I thought the fabric was kinda stiff, and also wasn't thrilled with the cut.

Overall for Taobao I feel that you get what you pay for, and I've yet to keep any Taobao dress I've bought. In general I would rather get cheaper secondhand IW/VM/MM/JM/LG over new Taobao. Mileage varies more for the other brands.

>>
>>9196863
>>9196869
It's a total coincidence that the prints both have winged horses in individual gold frames, mounted on a diamond backdrop with a star motif. It's also a complete coincidence that the OPs both have sweetheart necklines, princess sleeves, and a sheer peplum with bows. That's like saying Infanta's Snow White OP has nothing to do with Claudia.

Also there's a good chance that AP actually did invent winged horse carousel prints. Almost all carousel prints before CDC used a mixture of unicorns and regular horses, they might actually be the first to use exclusively winged horses.

Since this argument will be going on for awhile, I decided to do a side-by-side of this dress with AP's CDC. While it's not an exact replica, I think it's pretty obvious that Fairy By the Moonlight ripped off CDC directly. The diamond print, gold accents, neckline, and star buttons are what push this past "inspired by" into "stolen from." I think this was just made to capitalize on poorfags and newbies who think, "I can't afford AP, but this is just as good! Practically the same thing, right?" But that's just my $0.02, and I know lots of other people will feel differently.

Is it velveteen? These would be great for roomwear if it came in cotton or polyester.

another round of grandmas nightgown kei I see
>>
>>9204983
It is.
>>
>>9204975
I like this because it's so dreamy-looking, but I can't imagine a coord in which I'd be happy wearing this outside of my house.
>>
I want the skirt. Which is your favorite colorway, gulls?
>>
>>9205068
wow the blue is gorgeous
>>
>>9204975
What is the full price of it?
>>
>>9205068
I can't choose between light blue, navy and purple. Navy would work better with my wardrobe but light blue and purple are so cute!
>>
>>9205642
Preorder price is 30yuan despoit and 199yuan payment, the price when it is in stock is 269yuan.
>>
>>9205668
Thank you, that part didn't get translate.

I really love this print. I think I'll go for the JSK but... normally I always go after navy colorways, but I don't like the red bows and ribbon on the back, it doesn't go with anything. Maybe I'll get the sax instead, the pink bows at least match the bottom of the print
>>

AP is just so stupid this year. I don't really like anything they're doing and Meta is stealing their thunder. What a time to be alive.
>>
>>9206123
i literally can't find it on google. halp

I'd happily get married in this, my Haenuli Swan Lake in ivory or Raphael's blessing in ivory; all the releases intended to be wedding dresses are offputting in design, especially considering how expensive they are. Having a pricey dress to brag about on your wedding day for the sake of it just seems retarded to me when I could have a gorgeous but relatively cheap one.
>>
>>9206418
Anon pls it says miwako.taobao.com right there in the picture.
>>
>>9193815
It's fucking sweet-gothic. If we can have sweet-classic we can have Bittersweet and make it a properly defined substyle that would not be considered exclusively sweet or gothic. For the love of christ it is clear we need this as a substyle of its own.
>>
>>9206280
>>9195256

lol it's completely sold out on their site.

I'm very surprised myself. I guess the Halloween crowd was bigger than we thought?
>>
>>9205668
>>9205669
What a nice price. Would you use a shopping service to do the deposit for you? Or would it be smarter to wait until they're in stock?
>>
>>9207092
I pre-ordered using an SS. They asked for the full amount up front and I'd assume (!) they made a deposit and will make the final payment when it's up.
>>
>>9207160
Thanks for the details, anon. Do you mind me asking what SS you use? I use FJ as of now.
>>
>>9206443

Ironically enough, that's the same reason I wouldn't use this dress to get married in. I was never a fan of btssb's wedding dresses, or their Raphael dresses, or any rufflemonsters for that matter. And while being inexpensive is normally a good thing, getting a cheaper version of a style I dislike to get married in definitely seems counterintuitive.

Give me a Vera Wang dress any wedding day. Or, if it needs to be a lolita brand, I'd pick a tea-length dress from IW or JetJ instead. I really don't want to walk down the aisle looking like a ruffle cupcake animu.
>>
>>9207390
From Japan is a Japanese SS and thus cannot Taobao (China)
>>
>>9206447
honestly, I'd be on board with bittersweet if it was limited to cute, sweet clothes with cute bats and crosses (and the like) instead of pertaining to any random sweet print in black
>>
>>9206447
>>9207582
I'd rather we called it something like Hallosweet. It's obviously not gothic, so that makes not sense to call it such.
And bittersweet reminds me of the bitter colorway for chocolate prints, not black pastel.
>>
>>9207863
*no sense
What is proofreading, sorry about that.

Dim Light is being re-released.

how about we just name it "pastel goth tumblr vomit" and call it a day
>>
>>9204975
OMG I saw this the other day, didn't know if the store had great quality so I just kept browsing.

I honestly think this is so cute, kind of reminds me of Mori style. Also thing it would make a great patchouli (touhou) coord.
>>
>>9204975
I will say- I wish the bows on the headdress were also wine colored for balance. It's the only thing that is stopping me from getting these right now.

I couldn't find this in the store. It's extremely beautiful worn!! Mind sending a Link?

Or have they sold out again?
>>
>>9206815
Nah, their Halloween items were just extremely low stock. Some girls commented in the Lolita Updates thread that there was barely any per physical store.

>>
>>9207871
Does anyone know how popular each colorway is? Trying to decide whether to buy this on release or not.
>>
>>9203111
so they hired baby's designer for a piece that finally looks cute and not some left over trash scrambled to keep up with the latest trend ?
>>
>>9208698
Wide shoulders, I guess. I have wide bony shoulders and a dress like that would make me look like a linebacker skeleton.

Exactly. I was contemplating getting the puff sleeve version but in the end did not because of the lace.

So hyped for this!

But does AP use the goofy American style date format? I don't really buy AP so
sorry if that's a stupid question.
>>
>>9211721
Japan tends to use month/day format, but I've seen cases where they don't, usually when the year is included. But don't worry, we think your way is goofy too.
>>
>>9198021
> And deceiving bc a lot of their designs /look/ really nice.
If they'd just get their shit together and work on their quality..
>>
>>9210907
August or September 2012 I think. I don't think it meant to be their Halloween print that year, just part of their fall collection.
