Any upcoming plans to twin with someone?
Have a dress in mind that you dream twinning in?
What are your standards for matching?

Sam print, same cut, same (or at least very similar) blouse/shoes/accessories, same hairstyle, and ideally but optionally same height/body shape. People only having the print in common calling something twinning ruffles my petticoats, don't really mind different colourways though.
My ideal would be a group of people wearing all colours of a single release.

I NEED that dress <3
also cute
I feel only identical coords or identical but in different colourways really counts as twinning. People who happen to be wearing the same print, even if it's the same cut and colour but nothing else matches doesn't count.
>>9183753
Well, your reality is not the only one that exists. Shocking, I know.

why are they standing on a couch with their shoes on...

>>9183753
That's called cloning, which is a subset of twinning.
>>9183779
ugh dream dress. i can never find it being sold anywhere, though
>>9183529
There are three styles of twinning - (1) everything the same including cut and colour, (2) everything the same but different color and (3) same print, different cut and color. Style 1 looks the best, but all three styles are still twinning.
>>9184205
Because you say it is true
>>9184214
This is something I have learned after wearing the fashion since 2005. It is not my own opinion, it is fact there are many various types of twinning. Open your mind and learn to accept new ideas, anon. This isn't exactly revolutionary stuff, it's been part of the culture since lolita was a thing. Twinning in japan is hugely popular even out of lolita.
>Protip: normie fashion twinning doesn't care if they match perfectly either
Still one of my fav twinning coordinates. They wore the same dress but inverted the colors for the accessories.

They're jelly sandals, not crocs, but I agree with the sentiment. They should've stayed in the 90s where they belong.
>>9184372
Those aren't crocs, they're jelly shoes. Not as bad as crocs, but questionable outside of any style but fairy kei.

That was my first thought seeing the photo. Was like why do they have their dirty shoes on that couch that people have to sit on. But I also REALLY hate shoes being on the furniture.

None unfortunately , everyone's swamped with uni
> Have a dress in mind that you dream twinning in?
Would like to do something simple to do, like tartan with inverted colorway accessories. I really enjoy capelets in twinning, so I would like a capeletdress.
>What are your standards for matching? Same print? Same print and cut? Same print, cut, and colorway? Head to toe identical?
I think twinning has to be planned to some degree, not simply wearing same print. Should be more than same print and cut for the main piece, the rest of the outfit should share elements. For example, if two people wear dolly dot OP but one in pink with sax and lavender accents and the other wears it in lavender but with all black, they give off very different feelings and it doesn't come off as matching. It seems weird for a fashion so uptight about matching to not really care for standards for twinning.

>Any upcoming plans to twin with someone?
Not really
>Have a dress in mind that you dream twinning in?
None that I can think of. But I do have the same cut of a print in the 3 colors it came in. So wouldn't mind grabbing a friend and trying to twin in that.
>What are your standards for matching?
It needs to be the same print, same cut, and everything matching on both people from the head wear down to the shoes. I'm willing to overlook slight differences in items as long as both items still look nearly identical to each other. The colors of everything being different are fine, just as long as the items themselves are the same but just in different colors.
I'll never consider girls just wearing the same print and that's the only thing the same as twinning. It's just two people wearing the same print.
Does anyone else love the idea of twinning but hate actually doing it? I get so excited when there are twinning meets but there's no one that I want to twin with and also the fact that no one has the same dresses as me. I have many prints in multiple colourways and cuts but don't fully trust anyone to wear my pieces without damaging them. There's also the other problem of buying matching things, I'm selfish and would only buy things I think look nice which probably means the other person would have to compromise more.
To answer OP, I think twinning should at least be the same print and either identical or different colourways but everything else the same. I feel like different cuts look a bit messy, and only twinning the same print but nothing else doesn't really equal twinning in my books.
I planned on twinning with a friend once.
She waited till after I bought my dress and backed out.
Still makes my eye twitch thinking about it.
>>9188560
I really like the idea in theory, but I know that unless you are really really really close friends with another lolita is could be a long and arduous journey to prepare twinning coords. Especially if it is anything other that a new release where you can just both buy direct from stores. Otherwise I feel it is a good idea to include some hand made things in the coords, so you can actually be certain that you will have some definite matching elements. But even then getting your schedules to match up so you can both sit down and do it seems like a nightmare.
I keep dreaming about it though
>>9188568
Please don't tell us you bought the dress with the sole purpose of twinning. That was dumb af.
>>9183514
Omg this is awful
>>9188560
This sounds like an issue with your personality instead of twinning. You don't want to share but want to do an activity that is about sharing?

>Any upcoming plans to twin with someone?
No. I've always dreamed of having a lolita bff/gf to twin with (or to wear contrasting opposite styles with), but I've never had the chance. My current comm is quite small and most of the girls don't dress in the same styles as me, never mind own the same pieces.
>Have a dress in mind that you dream twinning in?
I think twinning in oldschool is super cute. I don't wear OTT sweet (second-best for twinning IMO) and I think twinning in classic and gothic usually looks pretty boring.
>What are your standards for matching? Same print? Same print and cut? Same print, cut, and colorway? Head to toe identical?
I appreciate many types of twinning. Personally I think it's best to have some aspects different, or it can (a) look kind of creepy and (b) draw too much attention to the differences in face and body of the girls because everything else is the same. Either you end up looking like creepy twins or it looks way too much like an ugly girl and a pretty girl, or a slim girl and a fat girl, or a short girl and a tall girl. For me the ideal is the same dress, same cut and same items but in different colourways.
>>9198969
>slim girl and a fat girl
A girl in my comm invited me to twin because we have the same dress, but she's about six sizes heavier than me. She dresses well and I think she looks cute but I think it'd look really odd to have the two "twins" such obviously different sizes in a photo.
