Someone on lolita updates said both dresses use Dover clipart. I have the JetJ dress and my first instinct was to check if it's a replica, but I couldn't actually match up any of the buildings, it makes sense if the taobao dress only uses similar buildings from the same clipart collection.

Which makes me a bit conflicted over the taobao dress. I don't know if I want to shun it because it's such a close (though totally different) design, or add it to my collection (if they ever put up another round) alongside the JetJ ones because I really love style of the buildings.

The look is entirely different, the bodice by its self throws out most of the similarity.
They might have used the same clipart as the Jet J dress, but when you compare the two, it seems obvious to me that did everything they could to do it in a way entirely their own.

Can I just rant about how frustrated I am with new AP ? I haven't been in love with any of their new prints for the last few years. There have been things I'd wear and pick up second hand cheap, but no "I need this or I'll die." I miss cotton border prints from 2010 era so damn much. But at the same time I'm happy for them being able to adapt over the years with the fashion, even if I dont like their items as much anymore.
At least my wallet has been safe from new releases.

when i placed my order in store, the shop employees said that the purple is the most desired color and that they will have a "second wave" of just the purple. Since I ordered other items, they can be received two weeks before my order for the purple jsk I due to it possibly being in a second production wave order. I personally don't like it because I don't like how the lace pushes the hair down like a skull cap. It would look horrid on me personally which is why I didn't order it. I can't have bangs across my face without making myself look awkward so this headdress wouldn't work well for me. I think it would have been better if it didn't have the lace covering the head and was just an appliqué attached to lace covered ears instead. But considering how veiled headdresses are quite popular now, I can see why people went head over heels for this head piece hoping it wasn't as horrid as the stock images made it look.

The material is the same and still has the issues. It was a bad fabric choice that they often use for stuff. Which is why it's nice to see them use the same fabric as vampire requiem because it was strong and overall felt nice. The only thing I can say I don't like about it is it can be a little stiff.

I think the most I have seen of the print was snag runs in the fabric. The stress at the zippers is because of people meeting the exact measurements and or forcing themselves into something obviously too small for them. That will happen with fabric like butcher fabric. But baniran fabric does do the same thing so the whole argument that it frays badly is pretty redundant since you can put any fabric under stress and have it separate from a zipper then fray.
