I want this print so bad in this color, but none of the cuts would look good on me. I was wondering though; could I turn this cut into a tiered skirt? I need more length but I want to keep the final look simple. The bodice on this version supposively has a huge amount of shirring, so if I let out the elastic, could there be enough material for it to become a tiered a-line skirt?

I'd say you could maybe get 100, maybe 110cm total once the shirring is removed. Unless you're really skinny, you'll mostly end up with a really narrow, hip-hugging yoke, and then a long skirt. Not really the best silhoutte for lolita.

Might be a better idea to turn it into a dropped-waist high-waist skirt, if you're willing to do a lot of tailoring/take it to a tailor's. If it's still too short after that, adding one layer of ruffles would still look all right (compared to the amount you'd need before alteration)

No,probably not. It'd look more like a 2000s 'peasant skirt'. You could get a wide waistband out of it and make it look like a high waist skirt but that's about it.

I bought one off lacemarket that has the shirring snipped inside the channels except the row at the top. Currently a fatty but once I get back to my old weight, I plan on fixing the shirring back to the original length.

At any rate, the bodice is still the bodice. But if you want it to sit lower, you can lengthen the straps. The straps are made out of velvet ribbon with a polka dot fabric lining. So you can easily make something similar and add a few inches so it sits a little bit lower. Mine has brown elastic sewn on and it actually sits at the perfect location on me now, but it'll likely go back to the original setting later. It'll probably be baggy if you don't fill it out though. In which case, I'd say just lengthen the strap so it sits a little bit lower and keep in the shirring.

115 is the actual measurements and I'd say this is accurate as it's very roomy on me but not loose and baggy.

Is it bad that I don't have a real dream dress?
I just always buy things on the go if I like them and the price is good. Of course all of the dresses on this thread are beautiful but there's really no dress that I would die for. I think I grew with the mentality that if you have the money and the thing is available I should get it, otherwise there's no point to it and I should forget about it. I guess every dress I bid and fight for becomes a dream dress for me, unless I lose it, then I just move on.
This kind of makes me feel less than a lolita, since this isn't a topic I really can say much about.

Anyway, I wanted to recommend you scrounge all the photos you can find, then take it to a tailor's and get them to make a copy of the dress. The best bit about going this route: custom size to your body, and getting rid of that fugly pointy bit (I get that it's a stomacher/corset top, but it's still fug). You can even request the tailor use your fabric and go for something actually beautiful instead of this medium-ish quality stuff she made this dress with.

I think it's that it's such a subtle all-over print. Subtlety is so rarely a part of lolita fashion, and the way the texture looks so different gives it such a different appearance from most plain cotton prints.
