I know we sometimes have coord progress threads, but since people have been reluctant to self post recently, I thought this might be a fun alternative.
Post the first main piece(s) you ever bought for lolita or any other J-fashion (Even if it was a normalfag item, if you bought it specifically for J-fashion thinking it would work, post it! Bonus points if you want to include any of the shitty accessories that you bought to go with it). And next to it post the most recent main piece(s) you've bought.
That DoL replica haunts me to this day...
My first and last purchases don't differ much.
I don't keep as close a record on the timeline of my accessories.
Haven't been in it for very long but one thing that hasn't changed is my love for indie brands!

Also: My Albino Accord is black but I can't find a stock photo of it.
Old:
Bodyline clock skirt with Forever 21 blouse, oxford shoes and matching bag.
I feel like I did a pretty poorfag first lolita attempt. Was still debating if I wanted to get into the fashion or not.
New:
JetJ Polycopie de Poupée Jupe de Volant JSK
and I.W Antique Pansy in beige.
I don't wear lolita as much as I used to, Now I'm trying to find ways to just wear feminine fashion. I've a bit depressed over the last few years so jeans-sweatshirt have become staples.
Got a little bit nostalgic and went to Anna House's website. I used to plan what to get from there when I was younger. My latest purchase was Baby's El Dorado applique skirt.
Had good taste from the get go
Princess Rose Doll I got in '08 or '09, Twinkle Mermaid I just got.
AP isn't even my favorite brand.
Old: Oojia Replica bought at a convention swap meet.
Also had a ton of deco stuff I made or bought from convention artist allies. Lots of rando little bow clips. Very few nice accessories.
New: Day Dream Carnival Twilight Set
Also bought at a convention swap meet.
In other news, I've become a brandwhore. Most of my accessories that aren't brand are often artist alley/indie items as well, but I seek out higher quality items. I also still make a lot of accessories but I've gotten pretty good at it by now.
Old:
Anna House 2 piece set (skirt and bustier) I bought in October 2014. I also got a white blouse and a pair of knee socks from them, a very basic bitch coord. I can't believe I wore a mint wig with it though. Glad I got rid of everything.
New:
Angelic Pretty's Fruits Parlor OP set in mint, I bought it last year in September. I haven't bought any new main pieces since I don't wear lolita as often as I used to. Trying to change that though!
I learned over the years that brand is 100% worth it. Be patient and you will find awesome deals.
First purchase: that one velvet gothic skirt from surface spell everyone gets
Latest purchase: Mary Magdalene Cordelia OP
Less a testament to taste than to the fact I have a job now. But I did used to think that MM was dead boring, but whoa how that has changed.

Hi Bobbi
>>9144092
This replica cat's window skirt was the first lolita item I ever bought as well! I loved that skirt so much back then...
First in 2009 vs. Recent. Looking back, I had an embarrassing beginning.
This isn't totally representative of my change in tastes since my wardrobe is mostly brand now, but hey, I can appreciate some Taobao stuff now and then. The Anna House JSK is a comfy piece to wear on lazy days and it's still holding up pretty well.
>>9144294
That was exactly what I did in high school! I remember Googling "budget lolita dresses" or something like that and by some miracle got a Yahoo Answers person recommending Anna House instead of Milanoo.
My first is an old OP by Angelic Pretty that I got second hand in 2009, and my latest is a Jane Marple Royal Stripe Colette op which I got a few months ago now. I'm not interested in gaining any more main pieces unless I absolutely must get it/it's a dream item.
My wardrobe has changed from sweet to now what is mostly otome with some classic pieces. I've got rid of all my sweet items except for a royal chocolate salopette because I adore it.
At the moment I'm just working on reducing it down to things I absolutely love because I have too much, but I've made a solid effort of selling off a lot of my wardrobe.
My first ever lolita dress was from bodyline and I bought it in January 2015. Thankfully my tastes quickly changed, as well as I learned a lot more about the fashion, mainly in part to visiting cgl, so thanks gulls.
My most recent purchase was Velveteen Rose Crown Tiered JSK which I bought in July and it's a dream dress that I finally acquired and I love it to bits!
My first dress was Bodyline's IW sailor dress knockoff, and my latest are AP secret rose princess (a dream dress!) and IW forest animal anniversary.
Both of these were purchased new in store. I guess my tastes haven't changed that much in 4-ish years of wearing lolita.

Congrats on the Secret Rose Princess! I've seen that dress in person and it's so lovely, especially the textured fabric.
First piece was Bodylines fucking fucked up one sided love story.
Ironically gifted to me by my boyfriend.
Years later now that I can afford buying a main piece here and there, been buying up a storm.
These two just arrived in the mail.
IW something cute ass fleur de lis OP
and VM nun fuck you up so cute.
>>9147475
That IW op went up for sale on lm a while back, I was sorry to miss it. What's the fit like? True to lolibrary?
>>9147481
Yeah I would say it is fairly close.
My waist is about 26in and it just fit.
On the bust I'm 32 and and again just fit.
I would say if you can snag it check with the seller if the sleeve elastic has stretched out. The bit by the shoulders.
The elastic on mine is basically dead, so not sure if previous owner had boob and pushed them up to their neck to fit in the dress or ...????
It makes for a really awkward fit- will most likely have to replace the elastic.
hope that helps.
sorry if it reads rough, too much too drink.
Old: Bodyline floral skirt
New: Moitie silent moon in WxB
The majority of my wardrobe is brand, but I love me my Taobao brands. My shittiest early purchases was an Oo Jia replica, I could've gotten the same dress for that price secondhand.
>>9147519
Alright good, glad I passed. I'll just hunt down the skirt, because that shit is adorable.
>>9147215
I don't even remember how I ended up there originally and I ended up spending the money I saved up in Bodyline and local sales, where I got the skirt. They have still some nice basic accessories tho but the shipping cost is horrible. Btw, that Yolanda jsk is so beautiful!
Thought I was going to be classic/gothic but it turns out I'm classic/sweet.
>>9149217
Sauce on the Baby dress? I think I'm in love!
>>9150373
papillonnage en eclats
i bought a lot of milanoo crap when i was in high school, but my first dress was the bodyline one tho technically the first dress i wore in a coord was the magic tea party one in 2015
recent additions are shadow dream carnival and maiden of versailles!
>>9150387
Thank you so much!
>>9144282
Hahahaha aww anon, we started out in the same place!
My first "coord" was Love Jewelry in black a random black satin headbow from Claire's, black overknees... and black flats. Looking back it was such a terrible outfit, but I felt beautiful.
Haven't bought many main pieces in a while but these are the most recent ones I can remember (and some pants). I tried out a simple ouji set from F+F and ended up loving it so much I rarely wear lolita anymore when i can do ouji instead. OzzOn (and all its sub-brands) is my favorite.
I still love my first dress, but it can only be worn in a costume-y way. At least I got rid of the ita cat platform shoes.
>>9153066
Is that your first coord too?
>>9153066
Congrats on the lovely Meta floral!
>>9153094
Yeah that was my first coord. Luckily I only wore it to a silly convention and not to an actual meet.Still ita AF.
>>9153222
Thanks! I can't wait to actually get it.
>Bonus question
Has any other Anon here been able to sell their first main piece? Or do you still have it for sentimental values?
My first actual main piece was a actually a really basic handmade skirt, this was the first purchase. I still have my first burando, and never would have imagined I'd buy one of Meta's Wa pieces eventually.
>>9153419
Love Jewelry anon here. i swapped it for an older Taobao piece at a swap meet. I felt a little bad, because for a year or two I thought I'd never get rid of it since it was babby's first coord and all that. it just didn't (and doesn't) match my style, but if the skirt version in pink or blue pops up secondhand at a reasonable price, I'd buy it. Love Jewelry is definitely one of BL's nicer prints, imo
My taste hasn't changed over time but hopefully my coords have improved
Sweet lolitas is the same.
>>9153615
What's the name of the middle dress? Love your kuro taste, anon
>>9153615
I've always loved your coords
I actually still have the rose melody dress and love Nadia dress. Never wear them though. I always loved the gothic style but at the time I got those, sweet was what was in and I wanted to make friends in my community.
I'm happy where my closet it now. I'm more convertible with my purchases now that I'm not trying to impress any one but my wife.
when i remember right my first dresses i ever bought was this both from bodyline. i was used to wear lolita since 2004 - 2005 i think but my first dresses was handmade or vintage dresses. they dont count..
My style changed a lot in the past 12 years.
I started with oldschool gothic and sweet lolita. These days i prefer Gothic and Classic most.
>>9147215
this yolanda dress is so beautifull! °O°
Ita dress? yes Ita dress!
Tried to be as accurate as possible. My absolutely first Lolita-intended dress, and the exact last dress I bought.
Curious enough, most of my current wardrobe is navy and black, and this is my "first" red brand dress.
What a ride
