IT'S TOMORROW WHERE MY ANONS AT
Was it ever decided if there was going to be a /cgl/ meet up and if so where/when?
>tfw can't get Friday off
There isn't much going on but it always feels like I'm missing out
>>9129115
I'm not sure if they will follow up, but someone mentioned Saturday at 5pm after the Love Live! Shoot
Day 1 get hype
should i go? the last time i went alone and it was depressing watching everyone hanging out with their friends
>>9129941
I'm going alone too. Might as well go and try to talk to people.
Any Team Loner want to risk meeting up? After seeing the feels thread the stakes are definitely high.
Meet up when seagulls
When's the meetup
>>9131106
I think its saturday after the love live shoot. Lets hope people actually come
>>9129239
No worries, didn't miss out on anything today either
>>9131228
Do you happen to know the location?
>>9129787
Yeah. We will be at the photoshoot until 6. Look for aguy in an eyepatch
>>9131280
Eyepatch and what else?
Should I just go up and say "are you here for the /cgl/ meetup?"
>>9131324
Make bird sounds
>>9131235
I think its at the front door
>>9131356
I can't whistle
>>9131407
More like "Ca-Caw, ca-caw!"
>>9131706
>we are from cgl
>seagulls
>cawing like crows
What are we? We aren't related to those dirty garbage picker of a bird.
We should scree like seagulls and let loose the autist we surpress inside us.
>>9131802
Okay, how about "Seagull!! Seagulls!!"
Okay, I'm lonely; who wants to meet up at the top floor next to the maid cafe
Time to look around then turn back around at this meet
Due to thw organizer having perosnal issues. One of the coordinators have taken over. We are going to the Olympic torch near cactus. Look for aguy in a black suit and eyepatch
Couldn't find you guys but the Love Live shoot was so good.
/p/ reporting. Nice day, great weather. I'll dump as i edit them, could take a while though :o
>>9132307
Sorry about that. So where you cosplayed as?
I didn't go to the meetup because I was in a panel and I also felt that it was a stupid ploy to get me to make bird sounds.
Did anybody see the Trump cosplay?
the girl getting taped to the wall was pretty kek too
Cyber Set makes for the perfect rave outfit bar none. A real pity we don't have a rave accessory shop like Sakuracon.
This weather....
Did anyone go to the Love Live competition on Friday? Because damn... that was a cringe fest. Other than the last group who looked pretty polished.
>>9133260
Sigma Omega has always been the standard for Idol cover group. A real damn pity EGS Infinity
>>9133301
Didnt participate. They were the only group that rivals Sigma Omega
>>9133326
my bad, over exposed. some funny colors showed up.
She was chill as all fuck. Seemed super cool
>>9133260
But when isn't Love Live a cringe fest?
What do people think of the possibility of a spring con?
>>9134046
Vancouver is starved for events and AR owns this town. Lots of young/broke/students here who can't travel even to Seattle. Great idea really
>>9134176
I am all for it as well. A pity this year wasn't as good as last year's. It was seriously difficult to top having Hendane coming over and the sheer amount of normally US only artists coming over. Guess with the dollar being low at that time meant profit margins were good.
>>9133902
You gotta go with what's popular, very few knows about idolmaster.
>>9134046
I'll give AR this, they'll at least trying and doing events not just in summer. It's not a great con yet but it may get there
AE though...
>>9134176
Don't we have a few spring cons? J-fest? SDJF?
but yeah, the more, the merrier.
>>9134420
The problem is there has been con burnout issues as well. It's one thing to be lacking in cons but another to make a new con and see if it sticks or not. The Anvil Center con graveyard I am seeing as an issue since both of the cons were unsuccessful
>>9134441
AR will straight up kill the small meets, they just can't compete. I don't know where the money is coming from but AR has good looking graphics, a mascot character, and the promotion that these other events don't have.
Even the one day event at AI was better than the garbage at Anvil Centre
>>9134456
Well AE also has it but I am going to see if this year AE is gonna do better since they are using the Sheraton Hotel (same one as they used for Halloween Expo).
But yes, anvil center is where cons go to die.
>anvil center
RIP NWFF and Nihonfest
Speaking of the smaller cons though, I feel that akimatsuri, harumatsuri, and minicomi are very enjoyable as small in-betweens during those major con-to-con transition periods.
>>9134759
To be fair Nwff was never good and was on last legs in my opinion
Speaking of smaller cons, what ever happened to Cos & Effect? Or was that pooled into the train wreck that was called Nihonfest
>>9134828
I believe that tried being combined with nwff and failed as a result
>>9134456
>I don't know where the money is coming from
AR is profit, and lots of it. Especially with a bigger convention they can get more people in.
AE is non profit.
>>9134847
Cos and Effect in particular. Nihonfest was it own thing and I tell putting geeks and normies in the same place is a horrible idea
>>9134890
What was nihonfest? Was it not an anime con?
>>9134897
A jack of all trades Japanese cultural convention
>>9134759
Yea I liked the smaller cons a lot too. Hit and miss panels but always some gems
And much more time to chit chat with randoms
>>9134046
I'm worried that it'll just turn into incomplete costume con, 2017
>>9135014
I agree, for me I enjoy the local AA artists that come out, much more than the large-scale artists from AR that have PVC pipe displays of wallscroll-sized prints stretching 10 feet in the air
Anyways with Nihonfest there were so many problems.
-lack of a real games room save an arcade cabinet.
-maid cafe had water and entertainment and thats it.
-Awkwardly held tuner show in the convention parking lot. And Tuners dont mix with regular otaku
-Entertainment was mixed in quality and consistency. A TOP40 Cover group after an idol act felt like a palate cleanser for the normies who are not into idol music
-very few vendors
>>9135193
>Awkwardly held tuner show in the convention parking lot. And Tuners dont mix with regular otaku
As someone who has a boyfriend who is both into Japanese import cars and otaku culture, I disagree. I think that this was the best part of the convention. Every other "event" was very lacklustre, so only the auto show felt like a full event.
If comparing it to loading, the autoshow finished loading, while the anime part of the convention reached maybe 60% loading and thus failed to produce anything.
I think the idea of having a Japanese "culture" convention is a great idea with potential. Generally, interests do overlap. When one gets into anime, they enter that phase where they just want to absorb anything Japan related. So it can work, but I think the planning, and the venue worked against them.
>tfw Overwatch cosplay was lacklustre
At least I saw vocaloid cosplays that were actually done well
>>9135303
If i had to stick my foot out for many, it'd definitely be symmetra and soldier 76.. props to junkrat for the attempt too.. not that he really tried too too hard.. his peg leg was cool though
>>9135324
stick my foot out for any***
>>9135324
LMAO.. the two D.Vas on the right bought the wrong suit.
>>9135269
True. It was the Venue that was the problem. But yeah if the parking lot was easier to navigate it would have been a great import fest
>>9135303
Judging on the pics that doesn't surprise me, cheap dvas and all.
Were any dvas good?
>>9135445
No. One of the DVas had fucking high heels built into her cheap ass suit. Embarrassing.
>>9136313
That bothers me more than it really should.
At least the 76 looks fairly decent outside of a few issues with him
