Any advice on how to make your a full body mannequin of yourself? Now that things have seemed to have finally cool down...
Does anyone have any experience with making a mannequin of your own body? I've read into the ductape method, but I'm not sure what the best way would be to make it solid afterwards. I was thinking about using PVC tubes to make it a bit more rigid as well as to make it possible to remove the limbs afterwards. As for making it solid, expanding foam sounds plausible but if anyone else has a better idea, or any pointers for what matters, I would love to hear it.

It works reasonably okay. Just make sure you have several layers of tape, otherwise the shape will distort when taking it off your body, and make sure you leave a large hole for the expanding foam to overflow. You don't want too much pressure inside because (once again) the form might distort. It won't result in a super accurate mannequin but for a general idea it works pretty okay. If it's something you'll use often, you might want to look into getting an adjustable mannequin.

Thanks Anon. I guess I'll be adding the spray foam in layers so it has room to expand without distorting the tape too much. As long as it ends up being accurate enough for a thick body armour I guess I'm in the clear. If anything it will make cutting templates a thousand times easier than awkwardly holding paper and pinning cut templates onto my clothes.

Showmasters organises ACC. They are behind several major conventions in the UK and recently expanded to the Netherlands and Germany. While I don't have any experience with them myself, they received mixed reactions from a UK based Dutch Seagull for reasons I have forgotten.
Still, they are experienced and the guest list is pretty interesting, so it wouldn't surprise me if they are on par (or better) than the folks behind DCC.

There are several options to wash your cosplays. And if you are afraid you ruin something: Bring it to the drycleaner. Another option is wash it by hand, piece by piece (refresh your water for every piece.) And last most people are afraid of: Your washing machine. It can skip steps as another anon said. So there is NO REASON at all TO NOT WASH your costumes!

I hang them out and spray them in when I am on a convention and I have worn it. But when I get home, it won't take me long before I start to handwash it all. This way: No stains, smells ect stay in your outfits.

Is anyone else disappointed with ACC's cosplay guest line-up? The Dutch cosplayers they've invited are all great, but I was kind of expecting international cosplay guests. Big names.

But don't forget, it's their first time in Amsterdam so maybe next year they get more cosplay guests involved if ACC ends up being a success.
