And finally the print preview from Mulberry Chronicles
>>
>>9118167
I really like this look, but I feel a little silly since I have no idea what brand this is.

Also, thanks for making a new otome thread! It really has been a while.
>>
>>9118178
This print is so nice, any word on when it's getting released?
>>
>>9118189
Jane Marple! Sorry for not making that clear. The first four pics are from the Autumn/Winter Jane Marple release

>>9118215
No exact date yet, but I suspect close to when Peppermint Fox releases theirs.
>>
>>9118175
I love this silhouette, anyone know any more OPs like this? Preferably knee length but I'll take what I can get
>>
>>9118233
It's similar in style to a waist shirt dress.

The colors on this are gorgeous. I can't wait to see more shots.
>>
>>9118178
I saw this in their newsletter but for some reason overlooked the polkadots. I think I want it more now!
>>
Hi gulls. I fell in love with axes femme and found out those clothes are pretty cheap in second hand market.

I'd like to know about their sizes. Are they small like Jane Marple, in example?
>>
>>9120259
It depends on the piece, but in general Axes Femme seems to be a bit more generous than JM. Not by a lot, though. If you have a 100cm bust or 80cm waist you're going to have a much harder time finding anything that fits than if you're 80-65, for instance.
>>
>>9118178
This looks gorgeous! I was waiting on another Tea Emblem release to finally get the grey, but this looks like a great alternative if that doesn't materialise.

Did anyone get the MC fox print or have any review links for fit/quality?
>>
>>9120275
I didn't get the fox print but I do have that Mushroom print one. The fit is accurate and the material is thick and decent. I unfortunately don't have any like PepFox to compare it too, but I was happy with the MC dress I got.
>>
>>9118153
Fuck. I didn't know this was being released. I bought the summer dress last August and the cut of it isn't that great.
>>
Does anyone know what happened to Hello Bones Jones? They fell off the face of the earth which is unfortunate because I wanted more brooches from them...
>>
>>9118160
>>9118167
>>9118175
I wish it wasn't such a trend in Otome to have the model look so pissed off.
>>
>>9120421
From what I remember, they got a huge amount of bother for the fox brooches because they were accused of ripping off PepFox. I wonder if that had anything to do with the disappearance? Some "big players" in the EU Lolita scene got their bloomers in a twist about it so maybe it caused enough fuss to make HBJ consider a long break?

What are the best styles of "normie" shoes for otome?

I like clunkier flat type shoes generally. Doesn't really matter so long as they are comfortable.

I wear flats, short lace up boots, or brogues. I have to wear good shoes, so all of my otome shoes are from normie brands and shops.

Brit-anon here. What sort of stuff are you looking for? I dress in the twee way, however I live in Oxford so every street you go down you can run into some shops with good 'traditional twee' style. As for big brands (Im assuming you yourself are not from the UK) that ship internationally I'm not too sure. I did however buy this blazer from Jack Wills (secondhand) the other week, their stuff is very preppy but their tailoring is perfect if you're looking for good blazers/ tweed skirts.
>>
>>9124594
What defines twee? I love the aesthetic but can never quite put my finger on what it actually is.
>>
>>9123914
Never heard of Miss Patina, thanks for the tip. Like >>9123933 I tend to thrift or vintage shop a lot, going to a more "curated" vintage shop is a lot easier than going to a big thrift shop if you're just starting out. You can sometimes show the shop staff pictures of items or looks that you're going for and get personalized help at smaller vintage stores, especially during off hours.
>>
Is there anywhere on the internet that has information or pictures of old Emily Temple Cute releases? Like 2003 and back old. I think Lolibrary has a few but not what I'm looking for. Googling "emily temple cute 2003" didn't help at all, unfortunately.
>>
>>9122195
I cringe hard every time I see it but figured the fact that it's offensively racist didn't need to be remarked upon.
>>
>>9124751
Fun/cutesy prints, peter pan collars, a bit of colour, feminine cuts. It's basically toned down Western otome.
>>9124594
I live in Ireland so I can order from most UK online shops with EU shipping or use parcel motel. I'm scared to order from outside of the EU because of customs and postage charges, but can do it if it's nothing ludicrously expensive.

I'm looking for stuff like what >>9123933 posted, kind of playful but not too OTT like some otome brands can be. Anything you've got, really! There aren't any vintage shops where I live (or at least not any good ones) so I could use all the help I can get.
>>
>>9120259
I'm a S-M in US sizes and I find the clothing fits me well. Only problem is if you're taller. The long sleeves are a bit short on me and I'm 5'7".

I too am looking for a more twee style! I feel myself moving more towards that and away from Lolita, or something in between with petticoated skirts, a nice delicate blouse and fitted blazer. I just don't like tons of frill and bows, makes me feel silly. I wasn't sure what to call it, like a British librarian? Pretty much all the outfits in hell on wheels.

is it a fake two-piece? just double checking to make sure the sleeves are attached, or if you were talking about the straps.

in any case, you can try to detach the mock blouse and lengthen the straps with buttons/elastic. Or you can get some extra cream fabric and try to sew elastic into the sleeves so they sit higher on your upper arm. you may even be able to keep the adorable turtleneck and just cut away and hem everything past the straps.

it may be in your best interest however to sell it though--sans alterations--because these kinds of cuts only seem to work on very petite, short frames.

Is the fabric of the bow the same as the straps/sleeves, anon?

The best thing I can think of would be to remove the bow, use it to lengthen the straps (for an exact match) and then use a fabric as similar as possible to make a new bow.
>>
>>9125997

Just for general interest: can I ask why people sometimes choose to wear Otome above or instead of Lolita? Of course it's a different style, but what are the reasons some people rather go for Otome?
- maturity?
- less rules?
- more casual so you can wear it more often?
>>
>>9127106
All of the above. It's a more toned down style, so it's easier to feel comfortable wearing it everyday. Plus, since the rules aren't as suffocating as they are in Lolita, I find it's more fun to make coordinates.

>>9127106
All of the above (especially not feeling like I have to go to the same levels with hair, makeup, etc.)
+ ease of caring for the clothing
+ I have a real love for 1960s style which otome takes a lot of influence from. I've always been twee trash so otome is an extension of that.
When I wear Otome it's just clothes that I like, I feel like I don't have to... uphold the standards I put upon myself when I wear lolita. I'm not consciously thinking 'I'm wearing otome-kei so I do this, this, this'.
>>
>>9127106
The prints are actually really cute and not garish like lolita. I like the antique and retro color palettes too. If lolita brands made prints/tailored items I wanted to wear, I'd buy them, but no brand is fitting the bill right now.
>>
>>9127106
I just prefer the aesthetic over lolita's more 'matchy-matchy' style, which I guess falls under "less rules."

More questions!

>What are some under-appreciated themes or colours that you want to see more of in Otome?
>What are some over-rated themes that you're tired of?
>>
>>9127106
All of the above but also it was just my style. I already dressed in a lot of vintage clothes and coordinating in an otome way. When I discovered it, I was like hey there's a name for this. I still enjoy Lolita but it's more of a special occasion/dressy thing.
>>
>>9127140
I would love to see some more subtle border prints being used on dresses. I love an all over pattern as much as the next person, but it would be nice to have some variety so that my entire wardrobe isn't full of only loud dresses.
>>
>>9127324
Definitely agree about border prints!

As far as themes, I'd love even more book/library prints. Well done space/sky prints could be great too, similar to Grimoire's Celestial Closet OP

It's busy but I don't mind the navy. The cut is definitely nicer than JM's awful boxy one even if it is simple.

With a shoulder width of 46cm, can I fit blouses from brands like fint, axes femme, milk etc., without making it look bad? Most brands only list the length and bust size.
>>
>>9128672
I have an amavel blouse like the one in your picture, would you like me to measure it for you? It seems forgiving on me probably due to the light material and puff sleeves. I also have a long sleeved axes femme shirt and it's less forgiving. Generally things with elastic puff sleeves will be safer.
I don't know if my shoulders are that big but I'm tall.
>>
>>9129179
I found some Amavel tops that list the shoulder width 34 cm. And I see now that I made a typo, it's supposed to be 36cm not 46 oops. But thanks for offering.

I'm going to Japan for a weekend because of work and I really want to get a pair of shoes suitable for otome kei while I'm there, only I'm scared everything will be too small. I need LL and I already can't find any brands online that have it, any advice?
>>
>>9127106
All of the above, I just feel more like I'm wearing my style instead pf putting on things to fit the lolita mold. But I gotta say I prefer lolita brand dresses, the more 'otome' ones like chocolate rosette though.
>>
>>9128672
My axes femme blouses fit my 36cm shoulders fine anon. They are all size L though.
>>
>>9128040
I want it because I love book/library prints, but I have to wait until I have the extra cash to spend.
>>
>>9130099
I would just get them at one of the normie stores mentioned above. With LL do you mean your feet are 25-25.5 cm? I'm pretty sure you can't find that in Japan unless you go to some special store for people with big feet.
>>
>>9120275
I got my MC fox print emerald colourway custom made, very excited for it to arrive and totally interested in the new MC print, still deciding on the colours though.
>>
>>9128258
ETC, LG and JM have all made book themed prints. Get over it.
>>
>>9130048
And yet, I would not showcase this on Daily Lolita Coord because it's not lolita enough for me.

I wonder what kind of perfume is perfect for otome kei? What scents do you think of with this style? I'm asking because I usually change my perfume depending on what I wear. Pic unrelated, I just like this dress a lot.

Perfume is one of my hobbies actually! My go-to is Roses de Chloe by Chloe since I love roses and have tried too many to name. I wear a lot of pink so I feel it matches most my outfits. I have 70+ samples of different perfumes, so I'm always trying new things out...

If I'm wearing a macaron, chocolate, or sweets printed dress, I might wear Let Them Eat Cake or Sugar Sugar by Tokyo Milk, or Bon Bon by Viktor and Rolf. When I wear cherry or other fruit prints, I like Sweet by Lolita Lempicka (it's a chocolate cherry accord). I find La Violette by Annick Goutal fits my mood when I wear anything purple or lavender. I've tried wearing Paperback by Demeter when I wear book prints, but I found it was a little too masculine leaning for me. If you're not crazy for fruity or sweet perfumes, it may suit you.

I'm most excited for my incoming ETC cosmetic print dress so I can wear it with L'Artisan Parfumeur's Drole de Rose which smells like vintage makeup and powder puffs! Pic related.

>>9131904
I agree with this though unfortunately I haven't found one I love enough to buy yet.
>>
>>9131872
Anon, would you mind telling me the name of this dress?

My perfume with lolita is Issey by Issey Miyaki, but for otome I usually wear daisy or peau du peche. No idea why though, I associate the former with something more mature perhaps?

Just scour second hand sites - sometimes a great deal will pop up.
Shoot for the unconventional prints and pieces or grab little pieces like socks and accessories.

Yeah sure it is not going to be the popular prints but I think you will have fun looking and if you get something for a good deal, feels good.

I've built a small collection this way and I am really happy with everything I've been able to find.

You have no idea how bodies work at all. Thin girls can have big boobs and fat girls can have small boobs. I for one lost weight everywhere but my boobs. They got lifted and more toned, but size hardly reduced. Doctor said my only option was a surgical reduction so kindly shut the fuck up.
>>
>>9135456
What secondhand sites would you recommend for brand otome items? Closetchild's prices seem to be alright, but I had no luck with wunderwelt and don't know if there's any other sites that particularly specialise or offer a decent otome selection. (Also poor australian so US based sites burn a hole in my wallet automatically)
>>
>>9137272
I just use yahoo auctions and fromjapan (since their real time bidding on yj is useful). Just google the brand name like "jane marple yahoo japan" and the section pops up without even having to navigate the site. Other than that closet child usually has the cheapest and most abundant selection though the other ones like maidenclothing do have sections for ETC and JM.

>>
>>9137293

Since when has Jane Marple been using English on their website? They've changed their main website a bit and this is the first time I've noticed them using so much english. Are they finally considering to start selling to overseas customers? They've never replied to an email of mine about it.
>>
>>9137306
Since basically forever?

Most of the interface and the collection previews have always been in English. The only thing that has recently changed is that they have (thank god) finally stopped using those shitty flash intros.

It's what's part of the brand identity, that whole retro uppity vintage British style influence (ugh.. not a native speaker here, dunno how to explain it better, but I hope you get what I mean) and the whole multilangual European feeling in general. So using English as part of that makes sense.

They also have that kind of exclusitivity marketing thing going on, where they reward loyal customers who come to their physical stores more. 90% of their collections don't make it to the online shop, so the online shop is basically only a showcase of some products that they have in stock physically to gain your interest and make you come to the store and see what they have more. They're intentionally making it a chore to buy from them or reserving popular items. The exclusitivity is what makes the brand so attractive to the target group. A larger, international web shop would kind of work against that, so I doubt that it would ever happen.
>>
>>9137367
Also on the JM topic, what do you have to do for them to accept you as a "loyal" costumer and take reservations from you? I buy at least two-three main pieces a month + many accessories and basics, and they still refuse to even send me a catalog. I sometimes receive postcards on the mail and I always get invitations for the secret sales but catalogs very very rarely and reservations never... Who do I have to kill for them to accept me as one of them?!
>>
>>9137367
I must say I haven't looked at their website for quite some while, that's why I asked. But definitely not since forever, I'm sure they used it way less before. And long before that they didn't even allow pictures of their new collection online and nothing was in English.
>>
>>9137272
Mercari, Fril, grandbazaarlolita
>>
>>9137451
You are factually wrong. I have been saving pictures of their previews since 2010 and most was also in English. And if you check their site with the Wayback Machine they are doing previews since basically 2003.
>>
>>9137382
I'm super interested in this also. But I honestly don't think a single gull has that privileged.
I wouldn't be surprised if the only reason you haven't been accepted as a 'loyal' customer is because your name is not Japanese.
>>
>>9138858
It's true you used to have to guess what they were releasing and they didn't allow pictures of the new collection online.
I didn't notice anything different on their website regarding English either, maybe the about us and contact part? But I don't know, I never look at it.

>>9137382
>>9139008
This is old information but here http://egl.livejournal.com/14237189.html
> When you shop at the Jane Marple store at Laforet (lvl 2) and spend over 30,000yen you can request for a catelouge to be delivered to your home. They will also send it to your house if you live overseas
A gull who speaks Japanese should just go there and ask them about what's changed.
>>
>>9139037
>It's true you used to have to guess what they were releasing and they didn't allow pictures of the new collection online.
That's a completely different point, anon. Of course they didn't want you to scan the calagoue and share it online with everyone.

But they have been doing previews and shared official pictures of upcoming releases since forever. The only time you have to guess what they were releasing is when you want to partake in reservations, because in many cases they take place before they publish the previews online. So that only those who receive the catalogue have the privilege of exactly know exactly what is going on reserve and what cuts are available. These days some of the previews are shared earlier, but still, it's only a small part and doesn't compare to having the catalogue. So very few has changed overall.

>they are one of the original lolita brands in japan (YES!!!before all those MANA-ism, and way too cute baby the stars...etc)

I'm really interested in knowing the origins of otome kei and lolita both, so I hope you don't mind if I 'steal' this discussion and bring it here. I also wonder why and when people started to use the term otome kei less in Japan, apparently it's more common now to say girly style/emicu style/JM style?

I think a few otome brands could have been known as lolita, before lolita fashion was defined. Perhaps at that time lolita was used as a term to mean woman who dress very young and in a western way? So, a much broader meaning than now. It makes sense that they didn't want to be called lolita if people started to refer to a serial killer as someone with a lolita complex. If you look at very old ETC pieces you can definitely see the connection to the beginnings of lolita. Of course, by the time Mana started calling his aesthetic Elegant Gothic Lolita, lolita looked way different from otome kei (especially Mana's style), so it wouldn't have made sense to group them together. Besides, Milk went for a mainstream image (with idols wearing their clothes), and visual kei was looked down on.

I'm trying to do my own research about this but it's pretty pointless because I'm just using google translate and I can't find useful information on otome kei.

When looking at Western sources about the origins of lolita, they usually talk about Milk and JM too. But I also see some wrong information in those posts, so I'm not sure how much you can trust them, and how much got lost in translation.
>>
I really hope JM releases a good plaid for their autumn collection. So far, I'm super underwhelmed by the two print series they've released. I'm really not into the giant, garish screen print style dress. The OP looks like it has a clown collar.
>>
>>9140804
I love the OP but I hate the collar too. Hopefully it's detachable? When I translated it it says ''head detachable''... Anyway, why are the cardigans selling faster than anything?
>>
>>9140823
Hopefully! I think that's the only thing that would make it salvageable. The fabric they used for it looks so itchy too. I just can't imagine being happy wearing it.

I'm guessing the cardigans are selling because it's a cheap way to get in on the print series. I actually think the cardigans look a lot nicer than the dresses, but I can't put my finger on why.
