would it be awful if i chose a base bag based on my wardrobe vs my character's signature color(s)? specifically thinking about those wego heart backpacks.

my character's signature color is a rich green, but i think it looks out of place with my style. advice?

Keep in mind the color of the actual merchandise that will be in the bag. If your character's color is green, all of the merchandise has green backgrounds & borders, and you put it in a pink backpack... you're going to have a pink backpack with a giant splotch of green in the middle.

If your merchandise heavily leans towards green and you don't want the bag to be green, make your bag a neutral color (Black, White, etc) or a complimentary color (blue with green, pink with purple, etc).

If the merchandise has all different colors, or doesn't have bright/obvious backgrounds at all, go ahead and get whatever bag you like the best.

my wardrobe is mostly pink and ivory, heavy emphasis on peach/salmon (warm) pinks. that's a big part of my hesitation to get a bright green bag, i feel like a watermelon.

Beginner here. What do you do with the metal part of keychains/rubber straps? Do you take them off? They look awful on my bag just hanging around but I've spent like $60 on some of these so I'm hesitant to do anything that might damage them!

I take them off! most of the time the jump loops are pliant enough to bend with jewelry pliers & remove the keychain without breaking anything. Then I put all my keychain loose ends together in a box in case I ever want to put one back on for some reason.

iDOLM@STER bag anon from the last thread again. Base bag and some buttons I had printed came in the mail so I've spent the last few days experimenting with stuff placement. I haven't settled on placement for the small buttons, so they're just sitting on top right now. And the rubber straps aren't actually inside the window because I'm still waiting on another set, so I'll assemble them for real once I have everything. (I'm worried that not everything will fit, though. A tote bag would've let me attach more stuff but I like the heart bags too much oops)

I was debating on making a second insert for Makoto only, but now I'm considering a whole Makoto-only bag to go alongside this one. It'll be a few weeks before all the stuff I bought comes in, so I have some time to figure stuff out.

Also, I know there probably isn't, but is there a way to attach pinback buttons to a bag without punching holes in the pleather? If it were a black bag it wouldn't be as noticeable, but the holes are pretty obvious on the pink, and if I change my mind about where I want the pins to be I don't want to worry about covering up holes.

I'm having troubles finding a proper sized outer bag. My inner bag is about 13-13.5 inches, and I see a lot of 12x12 clear bags. Other bags are too big or don't have an even width and length.

Should I just sacrifice an inch off each side of my inner bag, or would you suggest going bigger?

I just use a brand from Home Depot, I got it in the paint department. Just be sure to remove all the metal parts so that the charm lays flat and don't spread the resin all the way to where the hole is unless it's a really thin coat, otherwise it'll leak to the other side through the hole.

Not sure if relevant, but I'm really bothered by the two people in the FB group advertising their giant collection of stuff. Mostly because I recognize the items from ebay lots that I have personally bid on and I'm so salty because they're buying them specifically for resale. I know they bought the lot for maybe $20 and selling each individual piece for $6-7...

stuff on eBay to sell since anyone can get that stuff. I like to resell stuff from Japanese stores. I have a friend who likes shopping in Japan but doesn't want to do the actual selling and I just love selling and shipping so we're planning to work together.

I've read the FAQ but the difference between the knockoff and genuine WEGO heart bag is kind of confusing. I did some looking on the facebook group page, and I think that the difference is that the knockoff doesn't have a base to pin stuff? I'm still rather confused about how the real and fake bags have different interior layouts.

well, the difference i see in my real heart bag and my knockoff one is the knockoff is more flimsy and has a tiny ass front pocket that starts quite low. the real one has far more space and a decent sized front pocket.

Different anon here but I own a knockoff and it's pretty flimsy but my front pocket is actually almost to the top and fully covers the heart window so I think it depends on where you bought it? Mine was straight from Taobao for about $5.

Not even done with my first bag and already thinking about others I could make. Would love to make one for pic related, but he has almost no official merch. Black should be fine, albeit a bit bland. Most of his SDC merch is in yellow tones, isn't it? It won't stand out well on a yellow bag but green might also be a good option, depending on what shade of green it is. WEGO's green bags are some sort of teal and I'm not entirely sure they'd work.

But on a more general note:
Managing an online store is a large time commitment with a relatively small payout. At a convention you can make hundreds of sales in one weekend whether or not you have an online following. But if you don't have that online following, then you're lucky to make two or three sales a month with an online store.

It's worthwhile for an artist who does several conventions a season, usually has overstock between cons, and has an online following. But for hobbyist artist alley sellers, the management and social media promotion for an online store can be more trouble than it's worth.

But of course circumstances vary between artists.

Pinning stuff into a knockoff WEGO bag was harder than I thought. It's so sloppy and I couldn't fit one rubber strap in there but I have plenty of time to rearrange until I get it how I want whenever I get motivated enough to do it.

Double sided is usually best because it's generally more interesting and the majority of buyers will be people using them as charms on their phones and game systems, not itabags.

But more importantly than anything else is how good your art is. Everyone is making acrylic charms and honestly not all of them have great art that deserves the effort it took to put it on the charm. I'd rather have a single-sided with amazing art than double sided with art that clearly needs work

Pretty much people just use knock offs because not everyone wants to pay so much for a genuine and might want to focus their funds towards the merch they're going to put inside of it. Got my star bag today. Nitotans and 75 mm badges for size reference; this bag is for a character who currently doesn't have any merch but hopefully soon will. Anyway it's pretty nice, but the fabric "board" is really flimsy (thinner than the fabric of the itamate or mise bags). Might just be me, but I feel like it's kinda tough to velcro it in exactly straight. The strap is a little weird in backpack mode, unless I'm doing it wrong, but you can set it up in a couple other ways besides the two it mentions on the tag.

If going with a character, what kind of theme are you expecting? Like I guess what type of color are you shooting for. With Jigen because most of his outfit is black, maybe try to find something to offset it like a color similar to his shirt (a light or dark blue).

Dropping my Totty bag (it's a picture from a couple months ago and there's a couple more things on it now but doesn't make too much a difference). It's pretty damn sturdy, I have about 10lbs of merch on it and I've carried it around when it was full of stuff at a con as well. The straps are pretty thick, I've had no problems with it.

My only problem with this bag though is that there's only one opening at the bottom and you literally have to stick your whole arm in between the vinyl and the bag to assemble. And the space between is kinda tight.

I know there are a couple of Ace Attorney anons that lurk. Were any of you planning to buy this set? I'm debating on if I want to preorder it myself or not because I'm thinking of making a Maya phone case with the Salus ita cases

I'm planning to start an itabag of my fave character but I missed the preorder for a plush + charm set. How fucked am I. They are still open for a bunch other characters, but I fear that no one will sell it afterwards in yahoo or mandarake. ;_;

Sorta itabag related but where can you find groups of people buying charm sets? I dont feel like paying $50 if i just want one of the charms, and I just have 2 friends that are into the series.

People on MyFigureCollection do group orders but I think you need to have an existing account for a period of time. You could possibly find people just selling extras as well.

You could always try asking in the ita bag group on facebook. Pretty certain they still allow split requests on the main group rather than the sales group. A friend of mine just did one for some Jojo straps.
