It looks really well executed but why Totoro? If she wanted to do something from Miyazaki. Why not something like Princess Mononoke or one of the creatures from Nausicaä?

The yellow fur looks like someone peed on it. Other than that, I agree that it looks more like a barbarian thing than a necromancer. But then again we all know JNig doesn't sew, meaning getting her boyfriend to help her make armor is the only thing we're going to see her do.

It looks really well executed and she looks good in it, but why does it need to be Totoro? Why can't it just be an original design?

In general, I support people's right to mash up and redesign and do whatever they want with cosplay because it's supposed to be fucking fun and we're all just nerds playing dress up, but I'm still going to give more props to someone who does a bang-on execution of a canon costume than pretty much any redesign.

I think cross over cosplay mash ups are fun. Obviously some are BEYOND over done (insert-disney-princess as insert-literally-anything-else-here) but I do see some genuinely cool designs and concepts amid the swarms of afore-mentioned disneys and pokemon.

Not to mention the humerous shit that pops up. Again, a good chunk is idiot kids thinking they can walk into whatever photoshoot they want in their troll costume... but you take the good with the bad.

....Absolutely does not read as Totoro, Necromancer unless you really want to count those few blotches of body paint.

This shit looks like it would be right at home at Blizzcon as an Orc Warrior. Paint her green, give her some tusks, and she's good to go. There's nothing wrong with that, but if her goal was to communicate "NECROMANCER" and "TOTORO" with this costume, it's an objective failure.

Wow sexy armor and a popular thing so original. I don't mind cosplays being sexy and I don't mind mashups but for gods sake sailor moon, Pokemon, totoro, Disney princesses, how to train your dragon and who knows how many others, it's just a tired idea by now.

If she wants to do sexy armor there are a million games and anime she could choose from.

"Necromancer Totoro" might be, hands down, the single stupidest mashup idea I have ever seen executed. And while her armor is well-crafted, I don't see Totoro or even necromancer. At all. If anything, I see Cheshire Cat barbarian, and that would also be dumb.

Basically, she doesn't look like shit, but it's a shit idea.

Most mashups are dumb. I genuinely hate the majority of them. I could probably say that I hate all of them, but I'm waiting to be pleasantly surprised.

So is she trying to go with the whole movie theory that Totoro is actually death and the little girls are actually dead? Is that why she is 'necromancer totoro'? cause I just don't see it. Like other anons say its looks like a barbarian or warrior set of armor if she wanted necromancer get a scythe ANYTHING other than this.

I mean, when you've only mastered boob cup armor and that's it, everything basically has to be shoe-horned in to make it work.

One time I thought about getting myself a snow ghillie suit, throwing some red stripes on it with a pair of glasses and being Sniper Waldo, but I realised the joke doesn't really work unless you explain it and even then it's probably a bit too abstract

That's the crime here. It's a cool looking design and it's well made (mostly thanks to Punished Props from what I hear) but.. It's a total fucking failure to achieve a goal that she created for herself.

Cool costume that I'd totally stop to take a photo of? Yes.
Necromancer Totoro? Not at all and it deserves no praise for failing to read as the thing it was meant to be.
