I'm going to offer a bit of concrit... ita threads can be great places to learn, even if theres some salt to get past.

Yellow OP: I think a simple pair of tights would have worked better for this then the socks you have right now, and definitely a sweeter pair of shoes is needed. Those shoes would work really great for a classic coord though, so if you're interested in that dont get rid of them. Also, a more voluminous hairstyle would balance out your overall look much better.

Blackxgold: your outfit is very nice, but I think a higher quality wig would suit the opulent feel that the color pairing tends to give.

Blue: My biggest suggestion is to please fix your posture and invest in a longer wig. Short wigs can really add an unflattering top heaviness to a coord. A beret might look nice too with the official feel of your main piece.

Black bonnet: I love the hair accessory you have in your bonnet! For your dress, I would look into perhaps getting it tailored to fit you a bit better? The best thing about lolita is that it can give anyone an hourglass figure, right now youre looking very boxy. A higher quality pair of shoes and some lacey tights would make the overall look more elegant, what you have right now is way too casual to pair with that youve got going on on your head.

Squirrel party: i dont usually like animal ears in coords, but this is a cute look for this jsk! A smaller bow paired with it would look adorable, unfortunately bodyline detachable bows always look awkward as headbows. Your wristcuffs look a bit too classic for this sugary sweet coord, when in doubt pearl bracelets are always a cute look.

As someone who modeled before getting busy with life shit, I will never understand why whoever is coordinating the fashion shows doesn't understand the idea of simple and concise outfits.
I understand that a lot of lolitas seem to have no knowledge about fashion in general, but it's ridiculous how bad they are. Especially since these shows are generally meant to show-off to non-lolitas to hopefully give a better idea of what it looks like AS A FASHION.

Like if you're not going to keep it simple but quality, at least copy brand coords. There's so many fantastic examples of non-OTT coords that can be replicated by anyone that there's no excuse.

I understand that generally the people who end up in these "fashion shows" are just doing it for attention and that typically attracts less than ideal people, but surely there's someone who'll step up and be like "mmm sorry but your coord/makeup/etc isn't a quality example of what the fashion represents"

I agree with you for the most part, although I think that doing fun/OTT/experimental looks is just a "fashion show" thing. Perhaps certain fashions shows should have a better ratio of regular looks to OTT ones, but even with normalfag high end clothes if you look at fashion shows it's not uncommon to see like super wacky bizarro experimental looks to show off interesting pieces. I think what happens is people hear "fashion show" and they want to show off their most amazing specialest shiny expensive OTT coord. Again, on the onus of organizers I think to try and show a good mix of both OTT and regular, simple outfits.

Aside from that, as someone who has helped organize a fashion show with their local comm, I think the main issue organizers run into is, like you said - most of the time a certain kind of person sign up to model, and on top of that they'll only get so many people or only so many decent coords (if the people signing up are showing off their own). You might be doing a a Lolita 101 fashion show, can't leave out gothic, can't find someone who does a good job, so you just take what you get, and organizers are too chickenshit to be like "hey, we'd love to use you, but you can fix XYZ for your coord?".

I have no issue with OTT outfits, especially for something like a fashion show. But it's even harder to do well, in an aesthetically pleasing way.

Nah, the sleeves are baggy and shapeless, the waist is set at the wrong place for a Lolita silhouette and the print looks like more like a bed sheet than a lolita floral. Thumbs down, she needs to practice pattern drafting more, fit things better and get nicer fabric and trim overall. That's too much for just nitpick and a quick fix like 'replace trim' to really make it better.
