Couldn't get off for Sunday so I left last night.

This custom signature I got from the studio Trigger people is why I will never go back to shitty ACEN. They never get guests even half as interesting or relevant.

Posting my salt from the last thread, since it's dying.

Sorry again for how loud my voice is in the recording, but holy hell. I posted this nonsense in the con facebook, and I'm curious as to how they'll respond. The way they've defended their staff harassment is flimsy as it is....
>>
I've had a lot more fun than I thought I would! I thought my cosplay was cringe tier, but I got a lot of compliments and requests for photos. All in all pretty cool!

That is great you have recorded your conversation with the hotel. I really advise anyone else to do this, record any interaction you have with AM staff or their security team. They have been getting away with this shit for years, and I'm very glad to see that more people are finally speaking up about it. Please record your interactions and keep records of any correspondence because you never know when a situation will escelate with these staff and their insane behavior and without proof it's your word against theirs.
>>
>>9096687
Thanks guy. It was my first AM actually, and sadly my last.

There's more info about what happened in the Facebook review section, if you guys are curious. I'm not usually one to make a big stink about things, but I go to tons of cons, and this BS is not normal.

Plus, the volunteer staff member's post there is very "ok listen sweaty (:(:" unprofessional which is pretty funny.
>>
So what was the overall feel this year ? Most of the people complaining were ghosting the con to begin with but I want to hear from people who bought badges. Was it worth it?

>>
Despite the excessive badge checking this year, I manage to skirt around security to the games room, hotel lobby, and dealers room, but even with it free, it wasn't worth the effort to sneak. The game room was shitty and so was the dealers, but I didn't really expect anything much better, so whatever.
>>
>>9096756
>game room was shitty

I didn't go this year, and so I'm curious what made it shitty because I quite enjoyed the free-play rhythm games and pachinko. Did they get rid of those?
>>
>>9096779
It was a little crowded during the tournaments, but all the machines were there. The Initial D racer was a lot of fun too! I think anon was expecting a bit more is all.
>>
>>9096783
Ah, I can understanding wanting more especially if they've gone to ACen (which again, I didn't go this year, but heard wonderful things about the arcade about for once) and with AMW bragging about how big they've gotten.

>>9096573
I just imagined a bunch of neck beards in AMW tees trying to hassle some business people who are staying at the hotel for business.

That really sucks though. I'm acquainted with a couple of Kopf staff and they were talking (ranting, really) about people ghosting cons leading up to this weekend. I understand it's a shitty move, but they shouldn't have to do more than checking badges at checkpoints like the dealer hall and panel rooms.
>>
>>9096779
No they had those, but the rhythm games they have are just sorta bad. They had pop'n music but the line was incredibly long and then this refleftobeat game that seemed oddly difficult and then jubeat which is just sorta dumb and also had long lines. The only good rhythm game was broken because of retards that didn't know how to use it broke a part of it.
>>
>tfw barely any pictures
Cosplay seemed pretty lacking in terms of things I found picture worthy but I'll post what I have when I can.
>>
Staff was pretty shitty. Weren't many issues with people from Exxxotica other than a train of 5 frat boys who broke in to the con sweet area with a megaphone and started harassing people.

What the hell was up with the room changes? I seriously had no idea what panel was where on Saturday afternoon/evening because they would swap rooms and not put up notes. I think I walked into 4 panels that weren't the one I wanted to see after being redirected twice and just gave up out of frustration.

>>9096787
The funny part is half of the panels I went to didn't have a badge check. The only ones I recall having them were the big name ones or 18+ panels.

>>9096779
They seemed to have lost a few of the cabinets/games they had last year. It felt pretty empty.

>>9096734
If it wasn't for a random panel I got lucky ending up in from shitty coordination and communication about room changes, it's definitely worse than last year. Everything seemed to be a bit smaller and less organized and even though it was only a few incidents I had with Exxotica guests being rude/disruptive/harassing, it left a pretty sour taste in my mouth. I've never had issues like others have with excessive badge checks and I think some people blow it out of proportion (like a person who was entering the dealer hall and had his badge tucked away who acted offended that he was asked to see his badge), but I heard a lot of complaints about random badge checks in places I wouldn't expect which led to con staff coming off as hassling.

>>9096825
I think it's just because the con was smaller than it was last year. It seemed a lot more empty.

How did the tea party go? Was it any better without brand guests? What did they serve? Were there any games or raffle prizes, or was just mostly just socializing?

>>9096875
Thanks for the mini dump
>>
>>9096798
Tokyo Attack, the group that usually brings their selection of rhythm games and the other Japanese imports was hosting some awesome events at CTcon this year instead of Midwest.
>>
>>9096979
The tea party was honestly really great. I went to the Baby one last year and this year was far better without the brand guest. I think they booked the room for 2hrs, so we had plenty of time to eat and socialize. The food was way better than last year's (salmon or what looked like pastrami sandwiches, really legit dessert selection with good macarons, etc.), no seating issues like last year and there was a raffle with some good prizes. The only thing I think that could have been better was the tea selection, but overall it was pretty great.
>>
>>9097014
How was the rest of the Lolita programming without any Japanese brand guests this year?
>>
>>9097046
There really wasn't as much of it. The panels were good and had good turnout (at least what I went to), but were mostly at really shitty times. The swap meet went over really well, but the tea party really was the best lolita event for the weekend, IMO. The fashion show had really nice designs in it, but it was really short in comparison to previous years.
>>
>>9096573
Thank you for recording that. Get a load of this sack of lies, too: http://ryankopf.com/posts/2121-Anime-Midwest-Badging-and-Security

Two ambulances vs. ACen's ten? It wasn't all because of alcohol poisoning, dude. Not to mention, ACen had 30k+ people. Let's take proportions into account here.. That's far from the only lie he's pushing in this article. So glad I saved my time and money this weekend.
>>
>>9097096
The most concerning part of his response is that it doesn't say anything to address the fact that they had no authority to kick people out of the hotel's lobby without permission. It's all just him attempting to justify the illegal actions, stalking, harassment and dickwagging power trip him and his staff are on every year.
>>
>>9097096
I wonder if an ambulance had to pick up the fucked up suicidal hotel neighbor I had to call security on because he wouldn't stop screaming about hurting himself and threatening to stab his roommates.
If anyone knows this dude, thank him for trapping me in my room because I was too paranoid to leave until the cops left. It took like an hour for them to diffuse the situation.
>>
>>9097111
Did anyone get the name of the security company that was hired in?

And for the record, here's the information for Hyatt Corporate:
Address: 71 S Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60606
Phone:(312) 750-1234

Aw. I wish I had gone, but I couldn't get Friday off. I'm glad that went well though, and the ticket pricing is reasonable too.
>>
>>9097096
>In order to provide a fun environment that stays safe all weekend, AnimeCon.org invests in hired security and our own staff to guard entrances

Unless I was blind and Safety got a different shirt than the rest of staff, they were goddamn scarce on Saturday. I also found it really stupid there was a checkpoint at the Hyatt's skybridge entrance since you can just get around it with the stairs by the Expoteria and a small bit of a hassle if you actually need to grab your badge at registration since if you were at the skybridge, you could've just went through for convenience.
>>
>>9097148
>>9096573
I talked to one of the Rosemont guards about it. She knew how stupid the Hyatt guards were being and said that she knew that "all they do is fuck around" and how it was creating a bad experience for con goers.
>>
>>9097148

I saw an entirety of 4 safety con staffers, and 2 of them dicked around in the game room for an hour.

Everyone was fine I guess but the dude in the room door next door to me (we shared one of those doors you can open to join 2 rooms) was losing his shit at his two roommates. One of my friends and I got fucked up and went to the game room but another friend who stayed behind to sleep sent us this.
We went back up and the first thing I hear through our shared door is this guy yelling "I'm not going to hurt anyone! I'm not going to hurt anyone!" so I had to haul my drunk ass back downstairs to the front desk to get someone. I was afraid I sounded too messed up for anyone to believe me over the phone. Front desk was very attentive also. The guy I told said thanks and bolted the moment I finished talking.
They sent up a security guy who I directed but then hid back in the room while he addressed the guy and police showed up. Everyone in my room was pretty drunk at this point and we didn't want the neighbors to see us leave or walk past the cops.
We didn't hear him again but saw the girls he was screaming at again so I think they hauled him off.

It's probably just some generic thing they're forced to send to anyone who "complains" (totally justified and not complaining in your case) about neighbors. I wonder if me and my friends forced the hotel to give those out when we got security called on us for being too rowdy.

I met with Linkara, who was very pleasant, and even he knew about the negativity buzzing around. As a special guest, he's had positive treatment and he explained how well received he's been, but then he said "I'm not blind" when going into his experience vs a normal guests.

I almost got kicked out on Saturday.

> Wearing a XOF cosplay and had just reached the first floor after leaving my hotel room for the morning
> Some large rotund black man wearing a hoodie walks up to me
> flanked by two young girls who are wearing staff t shirts
> Thinks he's going to compliment me
> Uh, first off you can't be wearing that. You either need to take off your mask or get rid of the gun. If I ever see you walking around with both of them again, you're done! Don't let me catch you with just the mask on if you are walking outside either.
> Said the only exception was for photos
> Walked off but never identified himself
> Later see other people walking around with masks and guns
> Get pissed off and find him and ask him if he had a problem with me
> "Did I point the gun at anyone of something?"
> Uh, no, its just because of the Dallas shootings that happened. I can't have you wearing that get up especially due to you being black and all.
> Uh, I'm head of communications(or something like that) by the way
>Never bothered to check my weapons
> Later complain to staff
> They roll their eyes
> Yeah, that's K, (I don't know how you spell it) he's a jerk
>They actually seemed to take it seriously
> Give a recorded complaint statement to the staff at con ops so they can foward it to a higher up.
> Wait to hear back
> K walks up
> Demonstrates that he really is a straight up assshole by patronizing the staff at the desk right in front of me.
> Eventually I'm told to ignore his orders as he's most likely out of line

First and last time going to AMW.

Pre-reg and at-con reg was absolute shit -- never again. I picked up my badge on Friday, and bought one for my niece on Saturday at-con. They had 3 booths for pre-reg and 1 for at-con. I spent a total of 3 1/2 hours in a line.

I didn't run into any con staff. They were overwhelmingly understaffed.

I did like the consuite and meeting Waka, Sushio, and the other guy from Trigger.
>>
>>9098076

I was so disappointed by the lack of Luluco stuff in the dealer hall/AA. I know the show is really new, but I saw at least 20 things osomatsu and at least 10 things my hero academy. To have 0 of a new trigger show is crazy to me. At least there was a woman doing super cute trading card commisions in the AA and I was about to get one of Luluco. I should have just coughed up the extra to get one of Nova-kun and the complete heart too, but I'm always afraid of commisions and I wasn't going to be around to get it day 3. Would have gotten something signed/drawn on by the guy in the trigger group who did the op/ed for Luluco, but there were no options so I defeatedly got nothing signed.

>>Privately owned public space (POPS) refers to a category of physical space that, although privately owned, is legally required to be open to the public under a city's zoning ordinance or other land-use law. These spaces are usually the product of a deal between cities and private real estate developers in which cities grant valuable zoning concessions and developers provide in return privately owned public spaces in or near their buildings.

From Wikipedia. Privately owned by hotel, but considered a public area. Like, dude is going to say whatever shit makes him look right.
The only way he could have pulled off what he tried to do is by renting out the ENTIRE HOTEL. Like, every single room, meeting room, everything for the entire weekend.
What if you just booked a room at that hotel and didn't know there was an anime con going on? The hotel isn't going to turn you away or even tell you about the event unless it's booked by the event owner. This con isn't making that much money.
>>
Wristbands, guys.
>>
Someone asked kophf on his article page wether he rents the entire hotel or just a room block. This was,mif course, not answered.
>>
>>9098390
There's a problem with that. Malls are usually POPS. Hotels are usually not. Event security staff will let you through if you've got a room key, and the only time I've seen them actually bar access to a lobby was during Dragon*Con.
>>
Adding a name for a while, the sake of ease, I'm the anon who took a video.

>9098390
That is just... hilarious, honestly. Is he really going to try to say that the hotel staff is wrong, and he has final say? What about the staff saying how much of a pain their people were all weekend, and they had to be kicked out of certain areas?

I know someone on fb or here was going to try to contact the Hyatt corporate line about it. I wonder how hard it is to get through to a real person?
>>
>>9098391
Should have thrown those flight attendants out of the hotel for not having badges.
>>
since AMW is run by a dude with the actual worst sense of style (plain white cotton turtleneck, greasy long hair, and far too short straight bangs? ew) and no shame for making HIMSELF the con mascot, it's no surprise that he's a power tripping egomaniac trying to have control over literally everyone entering the goddamn hyatt hotel
>>
>>9098430
Entire hotels are rented for D*Con, not just room blocks or a few meeting rooms.
Hotels are open pops, it depends on s lot of factors. I have never been turned away from entering a hotel.

What would happen if I'm staying three days at the hotel, but only spending on day at con? Or not going to the con at all? The on,y people who have any right to remove me I'd the hotel itself.
>>
>>9098438
This. A mother and her daughter in normie clothes were about to head upstairs and the guard didn't even look at them. Should have said I was an Exxxotica performer trying to get to a client.
>>
>>9098170
Oh fuck. This guy looks familiar and I didnt go this year. I went last year. I wonder if this is the same guy who was in the lobby last year shouting about being on the board of directors.
Quite frankly, even though I attended last year, none of what is being posted is surprising me. I staff another con and, when i had the opportunity to go to AMW last year, I was hesitant. I ended up deciding to go because I felt like i wanted to form my own opinion and not be biased. I went in with zero expectations. It was honestly worse than acen. Yes, they had their great guest lineup but that's not ALL you should have to create a great con experience. Panels were all over the place and times were always incorrect. Many panels started 10-20 minutes late. DC's panel was almost 45 min late because of projector equipment not working and then needing to funnel attendees into a nearby room. When i say "funnel" i mean just opening the doors and staff not guiding anyone from the smaller to larger room so it was just a bunch of pushing and shoving.
I also noticed that the typical age range of an attendee was anyone age 2-16 years old.
I never once brought up that i was a staff for another con in front of any of their staff mainly because i felt like i'd get kicked out/banned or something relatively stupid. No one should ever feel that way. Considering what happened this year, i'm glad i didn't go.

>>9098551

I had no issues with the staff because I had my badge out the whole time but it is somewhat rediculous to kick those who didn't have a badge out of the hotel lobby. I can understand needing a badge to enter any panel rooms connected to the main lobby, the basement that was all rented conference rooms, and the con suite area, but not the sky bridge or the other section of main lobby by the piano. I also understand shitters like that one woman who changed her story frI'm having a weekend badge and not getting it on Friday to buying a Saturday badge are just trying to game the system and are scummy filth who got caught trying to cheat, but cutting the general people who don't try to cheat the system seems unfair. I still think the con was run poorly in terms of panel room changes and time changes. Most of the changes were never clearly posted and there was no way to check online for changes quickly. As stated sometime earlier, even small cons have this and make adjustments to the online schedule as things change. I spent half of my Saturday going to random panels because the change signs pointed me to the wrong rooms. Seriously, from 3-8 I couldn't find the panels I wanted to see because everything was a mess.

I wonder who constituted as "anime enough" to be badge checked in the lobby.

Did con staff have the balls to approach dudes in business attire? Did they only hit up young people with greasy hair and graphic tees? I'm curious what the distinction was.
>>
>>9099360
I was with some adult male friends during Midwest last year, they were ghosting and I had a purchased badge. I was constantly harassed by staff and legitimately feared for my safety. I saw teenagers and young women being harassed, literally stalked around the convention center by higher up staff members, and in one case escorted out of the hotel. The adult males in street clothes did not have staff look in their direction the entire time, because they were adults.
They are literally just getting off on picking on younger attendees that will listen without questioning when bullied into presenting a badge where no badge is required, etc. If you don't look like someone who will buy into their bullshit, they won't approach you.
>>
Badge checking in the Hyatt lobby is pretty rediculous, but you can tell that quite a few people here and on the fb are the kind of people who were looking to ghost and couldn't. There is no way on hell someone is willing to drive 8+ hours to sit in the lobby of the hotel. I just don't buy some of those who gave the con 1 star. While over checking badges was a slight issue (Getting stopped in the rave 2-3 times to check badges seems crazy) it wasn't as big a deal as people are making it out to be. I was never bothered by anyone in the public areas when I didn't have my badge out.

The real issue with the con was the lack of organization and spread of information about panel rooms and changes. I ran into many times when there were no posted signs redirecting me to the panels I wanted to see so I had to roam in and out of panel rooms to find the ones I wanted. Half way through Saturday, I ended up giving up after going back and forth between the two centers 3 times looking for a single panel and being redirected. It was insane.
>>
>>9099371
Funny you say that; after our group asked the front desk if we could stay (they said yes), and told the con staff as much, they left us alone for a while. However, they tried to harass a group next to us into leaving, without making eye contact with us.

It was bizarre.
>>
>>9099375
>There is no way on hell someone is willing to drive 8+ hours to sit in the lobby of the hotel.
I live in Chicago and it takes me more time to go to class than get to Rosemont. I had a badge but it certainly isn't a grand distance.
>>
>>9099356
badges weren't checked at the main hotel entrance. The parts of the lobby that were checked were the wing to consweet, the stairs to the basement panels, and the wing to the large panel rooms/ball rooms.

There was nothing in those areas for people who didn't have badges.

I will say I don't know anything about the plane staff.
>>
>>9099375
Personally, we did drive 8 hours, and did plan on buying badges for Saturday (and I did, other friend preregged for the weekend), because we spent most of Friday outside, doing photoshoots and hanging with friends.

Sitting in the lobby Friday evening is when we got shaken down by the staff.

Personally, I always buy a badge for at least one day at a con, I love shopping and usually hit up the game room for pachinko or to kill time. My group, at least, wasn't planning on sitting in the lobby the whole time, it just happened to be where we were bothered -- wrongfully so. That's the issue. They had no right, and were nasty on top of it.

Excessive badge checking in areas that are part of the con (like the rave, or the dealers room) might have been annoying, but they have that right. Lobby? No, they don't, but they won't admit they fucked up.

That's the issue people are having, since you seem to have trouble grasping that.
>>
>>9099398
Badges WERE checked at the main entrance, for a very short period on Friday. In the afternoon I think? Then the Hyatt staff kicked them out of that location, lol.

Badges were also checked (as in, people going around and asking to see badges, not a "checkpoint") in the seating area directly in front of the hotel check-in.
>>
>>9099400
Even if you only wanted to see the people and environment that a con entails without access to the dealers den, arcade, or panels you should still purchase badges for each day you're getting that experience. Pre-reg prices were very reasonable for this con and showing support for the people who made this available and affordable would have fixed this non issue.
>>
>>9099400

As a congoer who did pre-register, I think "did plan on buying badges" is a flimsy excuse. And I bet if you told the staff that, which you probably didn't and are just adding now to save your ass, they would have helped you get one immediately.

I think one of the biggest issues is that they need better staffing overall. I was amazed at the density of the staff this year. One of my friends was at one of the concerts and I went to meet up with her. Staff was standing near the doors and someone asked them where something was. Both staff members told them they had no idea where that was. I figured it was a panel or something, so I asked him what he was looking for. Literally looking for the concert, right in front of the staff's goddamn faces. Adding on to that, I was in the TRIGGER autograph line, and the lady told us all that it was one item per person. But, there was no one there to enforce it, and like the first 10-15 people had 4-5 items a piece. That's one of the biggest reasons there was a time crunch, like what >>9098076 dealt with. I was still happy, I got my TTGL wallscroll signed and Waka said that my art was really good so I was happy. Still sucks to see that so many people had a problem though.
>>9099728

Ok, Ryan. It's beyond obvious you're all over this thread, so here it is laid out for your greasy ponytailed mind to comprehend.

If you were at all that concerned about everyone's "safety" you would have had your security lobby checking the adults of the people who were clearly over 18 and not in costume. I am also pretty certain you had no problems with having your convention at the same time as the porn con, because you knew it would draw more of the older fans to the area. We also know you're a shameless scumbag that likes to cheat on his poor girlfriend, so I'm not putting anything past you.

Do you want to avoid this in the long run next time? Change your dates. Do your research. Rent out the entire hotel so you're the ONLY EVENT POSSIBLE in the whole thing with every single room booked. Also not being an absolute assbag to attendees and normies is a great start. I honestly hope this New York City convention you're trying to do bankrupts the hell out of you and the East Coast recognizes you for being the shitlord that you are.

Ryan's cons aren't that bad. People just jump all over him for the tiniest tribble that would go unnoticed at another con, just because they add up. So no one is listening or believing in anything you say
>>
Tbh I'd respect him more if he just straight out said we want more money so fuck ghosting and not this song and dance about security. No badge check is going to stop a guy with a gun. If anything the badge checkers might be the first ones to get blasted
>>
>>9100478

Especially since I can't think of off the top of my head a single instance of a serious rape/assault/murder/anything at any convention since I've started going to them ages ago.

They are big publicly promoted highly populated places. They are the last place in the world anyone would want to commit a crime. The safety argument has always been bullshit.
>>
>>9100388

Are you retarded? Do you think that they can't extradite people between states? Not going back to the location wouldn't save him from arrest.

/cgl/ everyone
>>
>>9100478
Do cons even have this huge ghosting problem? Usually, if a con provides cool enough shit, it seems like people pay without issue. Or at least badge swap, which is it at least 2 out of 3 people getting badges.
>>
>>9100646
cons that have badge limits have ghosting problems (cough anime detour cough)
>>
>>9100650

Pretty much this. It's like when Gabe Newell was asked about piracy and he answered that "Piracy is a service problem". If you offer a good enough convention with worthwhile content at a reasonable price people will buy a badge.

The people who refuse to buy a badge never will so there is zero point in trying to get rid of them. The reason Kopf is so against it when other cons aren't is that almost all cons are non-profit his organization is not. So the con chair of ACen isn't paid anything and is just concerned with getting people to show up and have a good time, whilst Ryan needs people to show up to pay his bills.
>>
>>9100478
I'm going to go on the record right now and say that next year all badge tier prices are going up $5. Dude is real asspained about not getting the money he thinks he deserves.
>>
>>9100694
This is so true. I heard a little rumor that this year was the first year that AMW entered a tax bracket with enough profit that required them to pay the rest of their staff, which was apparently a "problem" for Kopf.
>>
>>9100714

That would be a big problem and would cut into his personal profit a lot. Might be why he's trying to expand into other conventions so much.
>>
>>9100714
Also, I don't really have a problem with wanting to have your con for-profit and being able to support your own time working on it (cons ARE a fuckton of work to organize after all), but being bitter about having to pay other people also busting their ass to make the con a good one just rubs me the wrong way.
>>
>>9100694
>So the con chair of ACen isn't paid anything and is just concerned with getting people to show up and have a good time
Not defending Kofp but what Acen are you talking about?
>>
>>9100478
>>9100489

Hey, I've been on staff in the past, and some of the comments on this thread are definitely blown out of proportion, but I think it's more about harassment than actual dangers. Con creepers and harassment really are a big thing, and that's what they always said their security focus was on during staff meetings.

>>9100714

This doesn't make sense from a business perspective, that's not exactly how taxes and tax brackets work. But I did see that they were paying staff or something, and my friends who are still on staff said they were pretty excited about it.
>>
>>9100777
>Con creepers and harassment really are a big thing

They really aren't though.
>>
>>9100778

Are you a guy or girl though.
>>
>>9100788

Both.
>>
>>9100777
What do con creepers have to do with the security being so gung-ho about badges, tho? Creepers can buy a badge like anyone else.
>>
>>9100778
the only con creepers i have gotten are from other attendees who have a badge and spend it all in the games room/dealers room (girl).
>>
>>9100837
>>9100822
YOU'RE LYING. THERE'S NO WAY A CREEPER WOULD RISK THEIR BADGE BY CREEPING.
CONGOER SAFETY FIRST!
GIVE ME THAT MONEY!
>>
Wouldn't someone who got their badge pulled immediately start ghosting the con? I highly doubt they'd just go home.
>>
>>9100844

Unless con staff went to hotel staff and convinced them to remove said person from their room. Which wouldn't happen unless it was something super serious. Like pressing charges serious.
>>
Is that L cosplayer the ultimate ghoster? All he does is walk slowly every Acen/Midwest from the con center and to the Hyatt. And that's all I see him do.
>>
>>9100917
Is that the one who never has any friends with them and only ever just sits like L in various places?
>>
>>9100917

God, that fucking guy. He will walk directly into you, say nothing except maybe a grunt, and walk away. Had a friend try to talk to him and he "Stayed in character" and didn't say a fucking word. Although for the first time ever, I saw him talking to some goons dressed as other Death Note characters. I was really surprised he had vocal cords.
>>

Idk who ended up choosing the bgd music too (it ended up changing halfway through that shift or the next day, it was def weird). A lot of the maids really wanted to do dances, but obviously most of us didn't know it. It's considered part of the maid cafe experience, even though it might be awkward as hell (hopefully it will be less so next year)

>>9100234
Bodyline apparently ran out on the standard uniform that the cafe usually gets, so they ended up getting new ones (pink & navy), plus maids that were coming back either had the choice to wear their old black & white uniform or pay for a new one (you keep the maid outfit if you complete the required hours). Ahhhh will definitely mention the dance thing to someone in charge too!

Wait, if you're paying for the uniform you should be able to keep it regardless. I mean, you BOUGHT it.
>>
>>9100917
haha someone I know is L's greatest fan? I find it at least super funny that he stays in character throughout the con

>>9099773
So if Studio TRIGGER is ever a guest at a con near you, please go to their panels, they're funny as hell! They introduced the concept art for KLK after a mini TRIGGER intro video. Also, they are always surprised that they keep getting invited to foreign cons for KLK, even though the anime is almost 2 years old! Apparently, one of the character designers told us why there are so many spikes in the outfit designs, like he hated spikes with a passion until one of his fave idol groups (Momoiro Clover Z or something similar?) had a spikes concept in their outfits and said it's ok from then on! There was going to be an eye on the skirt part of the goku unifom, but that definitely didn't get passed (see pic). The one dude who did LWA went off and did his thing and came back to find out that TRIGGER didn't progress on character designs at all >_<; Also, the goku uniforms are based off tokusatsu x shibari (or another type of japanese rope bondage)! I swear that they were teasing the translator so much! Also, they had a marshmallow shooter and were shooting them out to the audience. Panel room was half-full, which kinda sucked, but also because the panel was at 10:30am on a Saturday (even the TRIGGER guests remarked that they were tired) I saw a ton of awesome autographs on my twitter/fb feed!
>>
>>9100954
returning maids have the black & white uniform from previous cons, new maids get a different uniform this year (pink or navy)? If you want to get a new one (instead of wearing your old one), you needed to pay for it when they were ordering them. (if that makes more sense)
>>
>>9100960

Yes but you have to pay for it AND work it off as a volunteer? It feels like it should be one or the other.
>>
>>9100952
get off your high horse anon, the bodyline maid dresses are fine for a con maid cafe
>>
>>9100917
No one bothers him because he's L. He is spoken of only in hushed tones and quiet utterances.
>>
>>9100990

Always hold your self to a higher standard.
>>
>>9100932
>He will walk directly into you, say nothing
I watched him freak out some people. One girl was whispering about him and he literally stopped, turned around, and got in her face. They tried to speak to him but he said nothing, proceeding to walk slowly while staring at them away.

The most human I've seen him act was seeing him sit normally while texting someone. Makes me wish I got a picture because I doubt I'll see it again.
>>
>>9101253
He's a little weird yeah.

The guy who always dresses as Fry and looks lonely with the fossil dog is really depressing though.
>>
>>9101253

This guy sounds like a total faggot who is trying to be "con famous" by acting weird at small Midwest cons.

What is it with the Midwest and people being obsessed with being con famous?
>>
>>9100694
>So the con chair of ACen isn't paid anything

Uhhhh......as former ACEN staff.....that's fucking wrong, buddy. But I completely understand why you'd think that. Embezzlement has been a problem for ACEN for decades.
>>
>>9101496

That can be a whole thread by itself. Especially in Chicago. Everyone either wants to be con famous, hates people because they think they're con famous, or is always showing how counter-culture they are by claiming that they don't care about being con famous.
>>
>>9100478
I'll fucking ghost this con forever just because Ryan is such a cunt about it.
>>
>>9101765

Careful writing that on the internet, he might sue you.
>>
So I'm pretty sure I saw the voice actor for Steven Universe with a prostitute at 3 Sunday morning. I was just sitting by the executive wing, eating my watermelon, minding my own business, and he walks by with a girl in limey-neon spandex, late 20s but badly aged with loads of cellulite, and another guy in tow, he was doing some sort of hype game for the girl, I don't know. It was bizarre, but I am dead sure it was Steven.

>be Ezreal
>unofficial League of Legends cosplay meetup
>get invited 30 minutes beforehand
>show up
>have a good time
>everybody leaves
>turns out there was another meetup that everybody went to outside
>didn't know about it
>people ask me later "where was the Ezreal?"

Oh well, I still had a great time! I have cosplayed as Ezreal a few times, but this was the first League meetup I've gotten to go to.

Also I need a better camera. Anybody got any pictures from the other one?
>>
>>9102054

League is trash.
>>
>>9102061
I basically agree, I haven't played it in almost a year. But I still cosplay Ezreal because I like the characters.
>>
>>9101394

That guy always sits in the same spot too! Right by the enterence to the hotel. Me and some friends walked by and I made a comment to them about how I felt bad for him because every time I see him, he's there alone.
>>
>>9101394
>>9102160
Oh man, Fry guy! I've been to 3 conventions in Chicago so far and he's always there; I make sure to get a picture of him every time. This time around he responded by getting a picture of my friends and I, so he must be interested in other peoples' cosplay.

Maybe I'll try to strike up conversation with him next time.
>>
>>9101528
Please do make this thread. Sounds like my kind of entertainment.
>>
>>9101864
Nah, I understand. Staff has to do their job, they don't make the rules. A lot of staff at this con was pretty nice.

But this guy? Nah, he was a douche. High and mighty when he came back with a big security dude (scared to approach us without him), and then stalked us for 20 minutes as we made our way to registration. Made two of my girl friends so unnerved they went back to the room.

Guy is a power-tripping tool.
