Cover up is fine but you'd need to make sure it matches your skin tone. Learn to contour, pluck your eyebrows (or at least clean up stray hairs) and yes, you still can put eyeliner/eyeshadow on even if you have long lashes (there are girls with long lashes and that doesn't stop them)

The chest piece looks fine in terms of construction I just don't think she took her bust into consideration when building it. Even though it's pretty flat in references it should be somewhat curved and worn with a chest compressor or sports bra.

I know I've been self posting too much when I shouldn't be mediocre work.l,but figured better to post here than in the self post. Torso is 3 pieced but didn't realize the mid piece fell over the bottom in the pics. You have valid points for everything else though.Wig was prestyled with upward wift already on the epic cosplay Hermes should have gotten clips to add more fibers to the wig to really flesh out the hair horn more,and this is my first cosplay I've done with any makeup at all so yeah I expected it to not be as great

It looks like some of the foam underneath is showing where the paint has cracked. If you have plans to repaint it, I suggest using FlexBond as a base layer, as it will give any paint put on top of it better flexibility to prevent cracks.

That said, your armor is still one of the best sets out there and with some diligence its few problems could be easily resolved.

Problem with something like this is fitting your fist through it. I'd use a few layers of thinner EVA foam that you can shave/sculpt down by sanding or a carving knife then seal/paint

As for pattern you have two options I think

- Large circle with a slit on it, since the whole thing is flexible and will fit tightly you can bend it to fit it on and it will pop back into place

- Larger inner circle you can fit your fist through, on the inside of that circle glue an elastic band, that will hold it in place

Make a big tall cone out of thin eva foam, re-enforce the inners with some cardboard. Then wrap wefts around that and attach to your wig.

I made ones similar to this for henry out of eva, its basically a big ring of EVA with the top/bottom parts added in with a strip of eva with a lot of darts cut into it, then cut a hole that just fit my wrist after attaching the strip. It actually worked okay but really meticulous.

Anyone have any tips for doing the Sky Knight pauldrons? I've got EVA foam cut out for them at the moment, but I'm looking at the rigging again and it's throwing me for a loop.

How should the rope work to keep each scale at the right height? Do I need to tie knots and then tie another length of rope to the scale below it?

Don't use the rope to actually hold it together. Mount them all on a thin piece of foam or sintra and just glue the rope in decoratively.

Im using magnets to hold them together and just stringing it for aesthetic. You can see I haven't cut the string in this picture yet.

The magnets are basically like glue and will hold if im not doing wild movements. This also makes it much easier to pack.

Just curious, different anon, not cosplaying love live, but the laser cut/hot knife method-- does that only work on synthetic fibers such as polyester? I'm assuming the heat melts the edges so that it doesn't fray all over the place and look like shite?

I wouldn't go as far as waxing them. Just clean them up with a pair of tweezers, and learn some basic brow shaping techniques with makeup. Also, just invest in a lace-front wig. They can almost instantly guarantee your cosplay goes from a C- to a B+

Pretty much. It's just a a manual version of what the laser cutter does. It will only work on synthetic materials or maybe a blend with a high poly count. Personally I laser cut and my go to is Casa Satin. My biggest problem is getting singes on white fabric because it doesn't come out. You'll probably have to get a rhythm down for making cuts without singing fabric

How do you guys choose what hair color to use for child units? Default to the hair color of their parent (the one that doesn't change)? Just pick one that looks nice?

I always do the parents hair color or the hair color on their official art (if it's different than the parents like Mitama's). Unless you are with the parent units I think it looks very weird to do a different color

Couple of questions here.

So, I am looking to buy a Lucina cosplay online. I've got a person I can commission it from but I am waiting for them to respond.

I was just wondering if someone here had any experience with cosplaying Lucina and had any tips on what type of wig to get? If I should just get something off ebay or try the Arda wigs (I find them a little thick at times). Also if anyone had any experience buying cosplay online.

They're decent. I think both would need upgrades to make them worthwhile, like making your own shoulder armor because those ones are floppy vinyl.

Dangerous-Ladies on storenvy sell Lucina things you could use to replace the floppy vinyl brooch and belt buckles. You have to paint them yourself but they look nicer than printed vinyl.

Neither seems to include boots. Where will you get boots to match fabrics? That might be a problem.

If you are a decent seamstress, try fabric, fusing and boning. Spiral spring boning would probably be best, strong but flexible.

I used the same vinyl I used to create all my other gold pieces with the front four pieces backed with incredibly stiff interfacing. Worked quite well, in my opinion, and also allowed me to move my neck unlike a worbla piece.

it barely resembles the actual class, and the craftsmanship is pretty bad on both. both of those just look too lazy to make the actual dress, but also too lazy to make the armor for the defaults.
it's a shame because well done alt classes and promotions are great. there are so many outfit options even just for awakening and fates, and yet people tend to stick with base classes or lazy shit.
