I found it really cute, paid homage to u's, and the new songs are really nice. It has a different air from the original which i like, and all the new girls are adorable.

Those costumes look bad to you? I'm all about fine tuning my own details, but if these were all bought they look pretty darn good to me. The girls all look well put together too, there are much sloppier looking taobao costumes out there.

Also, when you find me a bunch of taobao stores that are actually making im@s costumes period let me know, they seem to be in short supply.

I think it's just that Yukata/Kimono aren't as popular/are harder to get ahold of than Cheongsam? Personally I have Yukata honoka you posted (nervous of cosing her for a similar reason to you, I'm mixed race though). I think most people in the Yukata group I know are white though if it makes you feel any better.

If anything I'd say China dress are worse in the '''appropriation''' or w/e department but they're all idol clothes in the end just wear what you want

Believe me when I say that nobody will care. I've seen tons of girls of every race do kimono/yukata LL outfits and nobody batted an eye.
I've done the Kagura stage outfits myself and nobody cared. Japanese people even encourage foreigners to try on and wear kimonos etc. - they think it's wonderful that you're interested in their culture, and anybody who cries otherwise on the net is stupid and uneducated.
Regardless, they're anime costumes. They have no significance or cultural meaning, they just draw ideas and inspo from traditional garments.

I can't blame the "professional" LL cosplayers or Groups-of-9 for not wanting to show up to the gatherings.
Think about it. They are a "group", obviously it would make sense and be great to get some photos of themselves as a group. However, at a LL gathering, there is literally 99% of that not happening.

The organizers either like to "run the show", take offense to suggestions ("it's my way or the highway"), or are just plain blind and can't tell there's a group of popular costumes standing in front of them.

I do find it weird that you can find nearly any LL outfit online in decent quality yet people still have terribly-made outfits.

My biggest problem when people buy costumes isn't that they bought it but that they do so little to it besides wear it out of the bag.

There's always a lot of unstyled, uncut wigs, weird soft top hats that could have probably been stiffened easily with posterboard, skirts with no petticoats, bows that would have worked better if the edges wete tacked up, obis and bows tied incorrectly etc.

So I'm seriously considering cosplaying Nozomi from LL, although I'm somewhat of a beginner at idol cosplay.

I'm tall, however, and pretty leggy at 5'8". Which of her cosplays would be ideal for leggy girls like me? I want to stay away from her short one-piece outfits, for instance; I don't think they'd be flattering on a taller girl. I have the bust to balance the look. I was thinking the miko costume, or the Chinese dress, or this cute "active" outfit (http://www.cosplayfu.com.au/product/Nozomi+Cosplay+%28Sport+Uniform%29+from+Love+Live%21). Nozomi''s latest SR is gorgeous idolized, and while you might be afraid of being all leg I think the socks would be really flattering. The official name for this set is "Little Devil".

What kind of outfit do you want to wear? There are so many LL costumes it might help you narrow it down a bit. The suggestions you gave would all look nice, but they're a bit plain. The China dress is one of the most popular costumes (mostly in the Japanese scene).

To elaborate on what other anon said, you need to make a Japanese iTunes on an Apple product or use QooApp on an Android (I have an iPhone so not sure about that). From the Japanese app store you can download the Japanese apps. I agree that DereSute is more fun than LL because I love the room feature. I also love Show By Rock the most of all rhythm games even if it isn't strictly idol. It has a big interface update soon so I would definitely check it out.

Recent I've stared playing Aikatsu! Photo on Stage. It's really fun and a nice change from the LL game play. Idolm@ster is fun too, but it's a lot like LL. Plus the new Aikatsu! Stars anime is pretty cute.

Eh I think gameplay in Starlight Stage is far superior to SIF, much smoother, though I think the expert charts are tougher so it'll scare off the casuals. SIF is easy as balls to play if you do rhythm games in general.

The in game character models are pretty hard to beat too, the overal interface is more polished than sif as well, rarely crashes, and when it does, it'll give you the option to go back to the song you were playing (sif sucking my event tokens and then crashing on me, never again).

But then again Namco does make games so it's not surprising they came with a more polished app. Looking forward to playing the arcade version of SIF in Japan, you get real cards apparently for playing.

Get Qooapp or Japanese itunes, download games with characters who appeal to you and see if you like how they play. I've not played any female idol games outside of LoveLive so I'm not actually sure if it's plausible to suggest trying out games based on seiyuu because I don't know if there's a group of female seiyuu who voice in pretty much every idol game like there is with guys. If you're also into 2D guys however or if you can do that with girls as well, I suggest looking at the cast too to find games with characters you're going to enjoy listening to.

Keeping everything above the natural waist close to the body would probably help. Nozomi's top doesn't really flow out until then, she still has a sort of defined waist. It also looks like those middle ruffles open--if you're comfortable with your stomach, you could draw the ruffles a little farther so part of it shows from underneath.

It's a shame that it's such an unflattering outfit because the SR is absolutely beautiful. Good luck, anon!

If you're into games, definitely Idolm@ster. Unlike Love Live, it started as a video game series so its beats all other Idol franchises easily in that regard. As others have said, Starlight Stage is probably the best one out right now and IMO blows all the other Idol phone games out of the water with its graphics and depth of gameplay.

When I made one I boned the top. Definitely helped it be flattering. It also helps if the bloomers are really puffy because it gives you more of a shape. Also take lots of sitting photos because they look better.

Agreeing with the other anon, that sheer fabric is a huge pain. I'm pretty good with sewing and I still don't want to make the Yume no Tobira outfits myself.

Look at her unidolized outfits, they'd be a little better to start off with.

saw that there is already a lot of groups planned in the Love Live USA group. I'm just happy we gathered together friends that we all know will be able to make the costumes, and fit their characters, because the first come first serve the groups in LL USA do will always result in disaster
