I don't know why I've never seen lolitas in eastern Europe (Poland, Ukraine, Hungary...). Maybe it's because in that part of Europe religion plays a big role in culture. I've only seen lolitas in talk shows on TV (shown as freaks obviously).

I don't know, I don't post frequently on this board.
>>
try harder, anon. are you even a lolita?

for sure there is a polish lolita comm. there is at least one polish indie brand too. cost is definitely a factor which i think is why sweet isn't as popular. gothic is probably the most popular style.
>>
>>9041146
I'm not a lolita. There are a few conventions in my town so I'll need to ask my friends or just check online tomorrow.

Good handmade is usually just as expensive as buying clothes if you want it to actually look good.
>>
>>9041636

From my experience, handmade will in many cases be more expensive for clothes, but the quality will be a lot higher as well (that is if you are someone with a ton of experience sewing).

>>9041046

Also as someone who is barely into lolita and has no idea about eastern europe communities, i still know they are around. Even saw some photoshoots, that was a while back tough.

Austria is in Western Europe. There's Lolita-Fashion Österreich. There are probably more lolita concentrated in the larger cities which contain higher income compared to the rural areas.

It would be good for Street Fashion Europe to have an event in Eastern Europe next year in either Moscow, St. Petersburg, Prague, Budapest, or Warsaw (though for some getting a visa for Russia is difficult). Most of their events are held in Western Europe.

gothic isn't less expensive than other styles at all though....it's arguably pricier and also a bit less accessible than sweet. moitie, for example - generally somewhat expensive (IMO it either sell for more than retail or remain at retail), a bit harder to find secondhand, and even new releases these days only come every so often. the market is soooo saturated with sweet and the majority of the "inexpensive brand" people talk about is sweet stuff if you look at secondhand sales and japanese secondhand shops.

gothic styles in general seem to be pretty popular in those areas of europe, I think it's just people have a different preferred taste and aesthetic. along with gothic seems like people like more classic as well.

I am from Austria and it is part of mid-europe. Also the name is old as fuck, back then Europe was still way smaller and thus it was in the east. You guys sure think Greenland is a flower paradise and Iceland a piece of ice too, right?
>>
There's something so patronising about this whole thread. But then again what did I expect, Eastern Europeans are the only ethnic group that Westerners are free to take the piss out of without being accused of racism.
>>

Even less than America or any other continent. Maybe in Poland.

>>
>>9041046
It has nothing to do with religion
>>

Nice theory, where'd you learn that? Your ass?

Funny how when someone is interested in any other part of Europe they usually just ask if there are any locals who can elaborate, but if it's Eastern Europe everyone just talks in our stead and tries to explain things with communism.

For the record, Russian lolitas are known as the best dressed in the world, Poland has Lady Sloth, don't know about Czech Rep./Slovakia bc I don't live there but in Hungary and the Balkans there definitely are lolitas. The problem is there aren't enough to warrant a comm, and most people selling online can't (or don't want to) ship to Balkan countries outside of the EU so we're on our own. Most lolitas here are either fashion or textile design students or weeaboos in general and everybody knows everybody in the Japanophile circle.
>>
Any lolitas out there in Ukraine?
>>
>>9042912
Fair points, but I'd argue the muted colours, lower emphasis on print, and 'dressed-down-ness' of Gothic makes it easier to replicate in the homestead or find blouses via secondhand.
>>
>>9041046
Im from Czech Republic and we have lolitas here. But not many people are interested in it and we are a small country so we dont have huge well-known communities like the USA have. Also the whole former Eastern Block is a bit behind when it comes to those fads thanks to socialism.
>>
>>9041046
>I don't know why I've never seen lolitas in eastern Europe
because you never searched hard enough, just did a quick half-glance at google and decided there are none.
>>
>>9053540
So how do I look harder and find them?
>>
>>9049280
No one has said anything about communism until you brought it up. That anon probably meant the eastern orthodox religion.
>>
Bump because this thread is interesting
>>
>>9053654
>That anon probably meant the eastern orthodox religion.
you just went full retard
>>
>>9053614
the thing is that those places have way fewer lolitas and most of them aren't really big on putting everything on the net, or put it up in a way that it's only viewable to their friends.
So you have to be in that small community to know that whats up.
It's not that hard to find them if you dig deep enough, if you post on relevant facebook groups asking about them (preferably their nations lolita or con groups) there will be a few at least that will answer happily. But there is a chance that some or most of the won't speak english so there is that.
>>
What about Venus Angelic? She has a big YT channel and has been on some shows. People call her living doll, but really she does dress like a lolita a majority of the time.
Paris has a huge Lolita store!
I don't know about Germany, but less than half of Germany is religious in any way shape or form... So I don't really know why it isn't popular there.
>>
>>9049281
Russian lolita here, can confirm, there definitely are. And In Belarus too.
>>
>>9053728
Go to the farm for that
>>
>>9043463
You obviously don't live in europe.
>>
>>9053728
You've named places in western Europe.
>>
Do you mean when you are in eastern europe you don't see any lolita's walking around? Or you mean you don't see them in online community's like CoF etc.? I think online community's have more americans because it's in english and facebook is not as popular everywhere. I'm spanish and I've never seen a lolita outside of meet-ups.

I agree that in eastern europe, christianity is more popular compared to northern europe. But I haven't noticed their lolita community's to be smaller.
>>
Slavic girls can't wear lolita gulls
you can't squat in doorways in lolita

genuinely though I saw 2 slav girls the other day squatting on a bench, drinking frosty jack's in the middle of the day
shit was so class, wanted to join them to be fair.
>>
>>9053786
Why would you think that? I'm Polish
>>
>>9053738
Are Russian lolitas friendly to Ukranian lolitas?
>>
>>9054337
that basically eastern europe so it doesn't count
>>
I've seen some.
>>
>>9054595
I personally never seen or heard about any incidents or mistreatment based on politics. Ukranian girls sometimes visit our festival/meet ups and vice versa, so it seems to be fine.

You pretty much have to be a weeaboo to be into lolita. It comes naturally for Americans and west EU Ameri-boos, not so much for east EU.
That being said, there are still lolita cons and stuff in east EU.
