Anyone else have issues with buttons leaving dark grey marks on other buttons? Any tips for getting them off? I tried water, and the stuff for cleaning glasses, and had a bit of success but some I can't get off.

Does anyone know of any custom merch I can make? Already thinking of making shrinky dink charms, those plush (idk what they're called, but a lot of people have them on their bags), maybe dress a tiny bear in a small version of her outfit, I might commission small acrylic charms if I can, and I'm definitely going to get a commission of a daki for her (I've found one online, and I might make a mini daki keychain to hang off my bag, and if I can print off an image of her I'm making one of those face masks. For her bag,I kind of want to make a custom bag with her image, but I'm not completely sure on that.

Progress of my Kamen Rider Mach/Zangetsu itaoutfit. It's led me to the strangest purchase of my life (towel with Takatora/Zangetsu's business card printed on it and yes, it is official) and the coolest shoes I've ever owned (Adidas BB9TIS, same model Gou/Mach wears albeit in a different colour). Started out just hoarding merch but then I thought, if I have all this merch I might as well do an itaoutfit right?

Still trying to figure out how I could attach the trading cards to a bag.

May I ask who it is? There's always buttons of course. Also if she has any particular items which are important to her (favourite food, weapon, symbol etc.) you can make charms of those. Maybe something like a pass case? I'm not sure how you would go about making something like that but you can look at some custom websites like artsmoo to see what they offer in regards to hanging off a bag.
Custom bag with an image might be overkill but it does really depend on what you have included. Since you'll be making everything yourself you can just plan different arrangements like leaving space on a bag to show the printed graphic or having a plain bag completely covered to see what works best.

T-elos from Xenosaga. I might do KOS-MOS later, but that's if I start making more money. Merch from that game is pretty hard to find now, and was hard to find when it first came out, so I'm pretty much fucked as for official merch.

She has weapons, but I don't know if I could recreate them myself. Oh! A pass case is a great idea! Thanks for mentioning it being overkill, I don't want to do too much with this. If I do print an image, I might just print a patch? Or maybe only have it on the backside of the bag.

Has anyone had any luck on aliexpress for basic heart tote bags?

I can find the backpack, schoolbag and generic jelly/transparent bags but no heart tote so far.

I used the Ultra Pro Toploader card sleeves, they're made out of a harder plastic than standard card sleeves so I feel like my cards are protected and won't get nicked in the bag. Problem was, that the plastic was thick enough I couldn't get a safety pin through them. I used a craft foam backing covered in fabric for my itabag, though, and found I could just staple the card sleeves to it and it was very sturdy.

If Fanime is any indication you won't have trouble finding acrylic charms and buttons in AAs. Pretty much 50% of hte tables seemed to have at least the 8 main nobles, a couple Kamuis, Maybe Aqua and Zero. Though they go for from $8-12 a pop which could add up quickly. At least they're usually double sided so if they flip around no big deal.

If you're not buying 18+ stuff, Suruga-ya lets you pay with Paypal, so I use Tenso, which is just a forwarding service - their fees have been very reasonable.

With 18+ stuff you'd have to use a more full-fledged SS - I use FromJapan for my y!ja stuff, though Buyee is apparently pretty good too.

Im starting a Cinderella Girls bag! The charms are really heavy tho and weigh down the lining..any tips to help with that? And also any tips for attaching straps would be appreciated as well!

attach safety pins in the back and hook the charms on that. also, do it on a clear file or a patterned board so it remains straight. if u want it to stay close to the heart window, stuff the back of the board in the front pocket with paper or fabric to push it forward. at least that's what i did.

Very cute, I love Cinderella Girls. I had the same issues with mine, so I cut some foam core to size, taped a fabric background to it, and hung the charms off that. It just slips inside the bag like so. If you don't have foam core, any type of stiff cardboard would be fine.

If they say yes, Vograce is your friend for charms. They produce them at wholesale price and don't have a MOQ. Artsbovine can make buttons and doesn't have a MOQ either.

It's really great! I have plenty of room to work with. My only complaint is it's a bit awkward to carry with both fabric and vinyl straps. The fabric straps could probably be easily removed though.
I also have the pink one which I'm using for one of m One Piece bags (it's all girls focused) Let's hope my phone doesn't rotate the picture this time lol.

I'm rather new to making itabags (this is my first) but here's the one I'm working on! I ran out of room and had to upgrade to a larger bag (and frankly this looked better when it was on a smaller bag), but I've got more orders coming in soon so it won't look so empty, and I'll be rearranging stuff then.

I think my next step is to make a cover for it, and maybe buy a plushie or two?

Thanks! Are you talking about the inside or outside of the bag? For the inside, everything in pinned onto a fabric board (basically fabric taped around a thick piece of card) and slipped into the front pocket.

For the outside I slipped the safety pin of the rosette inside a 3M command decorating clip with blu-tac over the top of the hook to stop it moving around. I gave it a few tugs and it doesn't seem to be detaching from the bag so I think the hooks should be okay to use for badges but for plushes and heavier dangly things (esp if they will swing from side to side) I probably wouldn't recommend it.

Anyone know how to put figures in a bag while making sure they don't fall over? I was thinking pic related stuck to the bottom of the bag and the bottom of the figure. Do you all ever have trouble deciding who to make a bag for? Especially if you like a lot of characters and you're trying to decide which is the best to itabag.

Do you go for the one with the most available merch or tough it out and go for your one favorite that you know it'll be harder to bag for?

So is suruga-ya's shipping always shitty or something? I placed quite a big order with them, and it's been about a week now, but that isn't as much of a concern to me, since the reviews have said it can sometimes take a while for their asses to get in gear.

More concerning is is it normal for the shit that you bought be still in your shipping cart and listed online? I paid for the items, the money taken out of my credit card and got a confirmation email, but the items that I bought are for the most part still on the website, with an increasing amount sold out as if other people have bought them. Do you have any US based friends you might be able to use as a shipping service? Send purchases to their house and then when they've got several of them saved up, they can ship it all over in one package. You do end up paying for shipping twice, but for the amount of stuff you have to buy for an itabag it can save in the long run. I only mention it because it's something I've done for an overseas friend before, charms and buttons were small enough to chuck in a box and forget about so it wasn't a big deal.

There's always Taobao as well if you want defective charms/rubber straps and eBay for secondhand auction merch from Japanese sellers. I did that with my bag that didn't have a protective cover so it wouldn't bother me if I lost anything at a con because all together my bag is under $50 worth of merch.

As another EU anon, I feel your pain.
It hurts when I see keychains I really want being sold from the US and then the shipping for a tiny ass keychain ends up being two or three times the price of the item.
What I try doing, also as a broke college student, is to look for second hand items from places like Mandarake/Jungle/etc. Sometimes you find such cheap items that buying a bunch won't make much damage to the wallet and shipping itself becomes more bearable.

I guess my issue here is that the character isn't exactly from a series with tons of official merchandise, there's exactly one keychain from the previous game of him (which I own) and a single shitty button given away at a comiket years ago. I believe there's one or two new things with his face on it for the new game, but I couldn't get them at the time.
Basically I have to buy stuff from US based artists or nothing.

I mean the advice overall is great! I might do one instead of a more popular character that I also love (one of those idol girls) because at least finding merchandise is easier.

As long as it doesn't create more than a 1/4 variation in thickness in the envelope you can get like $3 shipping to Europe. I was worried over this since the Zakkamart bags have no structure, I've read people adding foam board to the inside, but even thick cardboard would work too.. might take away from inside pockets but unless you carry around a book all the time, this would be my best idea.

Second anon you mentioned and again, I know your pain too well as the character I want to make an itabag for next has very little merch (tho I'm hoping the anime airing now will change that, fingers crossed). My plan is to make my own badges and keychains! There are a few US based artists' that sell adorable keychains of him but I really can't justify shelling nearly 20$ on a single, tiny fanmade keychain (not saying the artists don't deserve the money for their work, just really unable to spend 13$+ on shipping alone for something so small).
You can just grab official images you like of the character (promo pics, manga/anime caps, etc) and just have some badges custom made, they can be pretty cheap. Custom made keychains are also an option if you are good editing/drawing! And if you have artists in your home country that you like, you can also request commissioned buttons/keychains/etc (I take advantage of this a lot at cons, quite a few nice artists from where I live happen to make stuff from series I love).

Starting off with a more popular character definitely makes it easier but you also have the downside of having way too much merch to choose from and if you're like me, self control becomes hard (please don't do this).

But whenever I ask US seller for shipping quotes, the mininum I get is always around 13$. Even if I subtly press and ask if that is the cheapest option available, I just get a dry "yes" or an excuse as to why a cheaper option isn't good or could not arrive to me (I've once gotten a 5$+ rate as cheapest shipping option but the seller seemed rude and uninterested in selling me the item so I gave up).
I'd honestly would rather the sellers just told me right away they don't want/feel comfortable selling outside the country (which I'd understand).
